Thira Restaurant Bolton in Bolton

After 5 years I have visted Thira. It has a branch in Blackburn . I think that this is a new branch. Good Kerala/South Indian food.

Absolutely gorgeous South Indian Restaurant. Located at the border of the North Walkden and Bolton. Completely authentic S. Indian food, 100x better than all the Anglicised "Indian" restaurants and takeaways which usually serve Pakistani / Bangladeshi food that's been adapted. It's the best authentic Indian Restaurant I've been to outside of London and I'm v familiar with authentic Indian food. The service is great, lovely clean surroundings and the food is AMAZING. It is v popular with S. Indian families which is a testament to how good it is. There was a great choice for everyone meat eaters, vegetarians, Vegans and children. The food is freshly prepared and we were asked how spicy we'd like our dishes. Some dishes are a bit different to what we usually see but there is a full explanation on the menu and the staff are great and take time to help. Lastly it is amazing value for money. I cannot recommend highly enough. I traveled quite a distance to visit and will definitely be going back soon. Its my new favourite eatery. Thank you 😊

Literally paid for freezer food

Visited this place as we were looking for an authentic South Indian restaurant and we weren't disappointed. The food was amazing and was served in good time. The customer service was outstanding. Not sure if advanced booking is necessary as it was quite quiet when we visited and and the place could accommodate many people. Decent sized car park adjacent to the restaurant.

Ordered 1 Beef varutharichathu & Chicken along Kerala Porotta. TBH, the quantiy of portions of the curries don't Justify the price. It was a big let dow. The taste was good, like homemade (was not spicy at all and a vbiy more salt required)

The portions were small. Not a lot of options for vegetarian in Kerala dishes.

It was worst experience for me from a restaurant. I have ordered through online for the food. When received the food I got a very small potion which I have ordered. I have ordered Nadan beef and I have attached a picture what I have received. I called to the restaurant and spoke to the chef he said he was using abusive language to me and he was shouting at me that this much only I can provide. It was totally disgusting me. When I asked something they have responsibility speak in a polite way. It was really bad experience for me from a restaurant. I decided not to order anything from that restaurant.

Authentic Kerala food. The lamb, chicken and prawn were cooked to perfection. Highly recommended for anyone looking for authentic South indian food

Very consistent, excellent customer service and food. Food is authentic and more along the lines of something you would get at somewhere like Mowgli, except the curries are much better!

We went with a big party (32) and everything was great, food, service and staff great. A really different menu from the standard Indian restaurant as it focuses on the south of India. A good range of fish and vegetarian dishes available.

If you want realy fantastic food at very reasonable prices served by a really nice friendly hostess then the thira is for you a really great proper traditional menu and cooked to perfection were sat here writing this review as we're eating our main course a lovely prawn biriyani and probably the nicest lamb rogan josh I've ever had we will definitely be be back again

If you want south Indian kerala food it is the best place to go.

Dont know about the food in there , firstly I would suggest them to update their shop opening timing in google.

All the Food was disgusting and all of it got thrown straight into the bin and 2 cans of coke missing from my order. Rang them just to be passed around cause their English is terrible and the 3rd person I spoke to said they'll give me my cans the next time I order which I told him I wouldn't be ordering again cause the food was disgusting and he hung up on me. Never ever again am I trusting reviews on here. You all messed up your taste buds so bad if you think this is the best curry place. You clearly all have some terrible takeaways around where you live.

Although they missed 2 items the food was amazing the first curry I have enjoyed in a long time, I will most likely order again(they did call apologising and offering to rectify however the food had already been eaten by the time I noticed the call) very well handled which is rare

Honestly one of the most delicious & fresh lamb curries I’ve had. Biriyani is spiced amazingly. The paratha is fresh and pulls apart perfectly. I couldn’t fault it! 10/10 highly recommend.

An authentic Kerala cuisine, excellent service and all in all a lovely experience. Access and parking very good,ambience pleasing and food exemplary. Vegeterian starters we tried included chilli paneer,,pepper mushrooms,and vada. Meat and fish,lamb were all fab. Appams,dosa,kerala parotta,and the biriyanis were all very good. Would definitely recommend this place for a taste of Kerala any day.

Where do I start, ended up sat away from family even though we booked as a party, waited 30 mins for a drink, starter was still frozen, main meal came 2 and a half hours after we came in,, curry was fantastic but service was shocking,,,,, 1 poor guy and a lady serving a full restaurant,,,,, my mate who's has MND and has to eat often to keep his strength up ate 1 poppadom in 2 hours 30,,,,, shocking effort,,,, we won't be back but I hope it works out for you

Delicious food at a great price. 4 for atmosphere because it was cold in the restaurant. Would have been nicer if it had a cosy feel to it.

We had been to Thira on a couple of occasions and we loved the food then. It was only because of our previous good experience with the restaurant, I installed Just Eat and ordered food from there but I was not all pleased with the food that was provided to me. The food had no taste. None of us liked the food.

I went with my hubby on a Saturday afternoon. Previously tried it on just eat so wanted to try it in restaurant. Ambience is good and helpful staff. We were in a bit of hurry and they brought the food quickly on request. Had a three course meal and all served fresh within an hour. Definitely going back as the food is freshly made and tasted way better than a home delivery order.

vegatable curry extremely disappointing full of wooden pieces

Very impressed with this curry house we ordered last week as well. The only problem I had this week was they didn’t write on which curry was which?? They were both lovely but we preferred one to the other but don’t know which one it was???

We bought some food for our son’s birthday party, which was for 15 people. To be very frank, this was the very best chicken bwwiriyani we had. It was made with utmost dedication and sincerity. It was truly delicious. Each one of them who had it, was praising and enquiring whether it was homemade. Went on a Monday night was very quiet only us in but the food was excellent been to Goa a few times and the food reminded me of that region nothing was to spicy and you can taste all the flavours so would definitely go again I hah prawn puri starter husband had the lamb chops for main husband had the King fish and I had varutharacha kozhi chicken and both were excellent the price is very reasonable for a restaurant so will definitely be back thanks

Sister restaurant to Thira in Blackburn and one of the best Indian restaurant's I've ever been to, everything from the service, decor and especially the food was fantastic and all at a reasonable price- £63 for; poppadoms, 2 x starters, 3 x main courses, naan bread, coconut rice, 2 x cocktails & 2 x beers. Excellent value 👏 I loved it so much I took a picture of the staff.

Really nice South Indian food. Not the usual same sauces you get in other restaurant. Portion sizes are just right. Try the Keralan paratha. Very authentic. The staff are very friendly. Maybe ask for recommendations if you aren't familiar with South Indian cuisine. Will definitely be going back.
