After several rainy days, to buy some really good sarnies and cake from ridiculously friendly people was just what we wanted: off to the benches by the harbour to watch the world go by. A delightful discovery

Visited here today, greeted by friendly Lady assume she was the owner. Food was really good. Only thing that let the place down was the unfriendly attitude of the male employee,he also may have been owner? He was abrupt, kept looking at his watch waiting for us to finish eating, as I think it may have been closing time, when we asked if we could have some more Tea, he grunted ‘ well I can put more water in your tea pot’ I could hear the lady owner voice her displeasure at the way he had presented our cream tea! She told him she wouldn’t serve it that way so god knows he must have just thrown it on a plate! Such a shame as it was a really quaint little café. He should not be customer facing at all.

We visited The old pilchard press cafe in May this year and returned again this September. Last time we had scones with jam and cream and raved about how good they were. Well we weren't disappointed this time, these scones are absolutely fantastic. None of the stodgy supermarket rubbish, these are remarkably light and don't fall apart at a glance. They're really worth trying if you're in the vicinity. Can't recommend enough! Mind you, got a bit of a disappointed look when I put the cream on first, oops!! 😆

We went with our four year old and had high tea and ice cream and then came back two days later because it was so great! The food was really nice and home made, and there were lots of options for kids. The waitress and owners were so friendly and welcoming and we had a great time. They were so good with kids too and there were lots of children’s books and colouring in to keep her occupied. We will definitely come back again!

We loved this place so much! We visited twice during our week-long holiday in Mousehole. We had a lovely high tea - the scones were some of the best we’ve ever had. We also had the special another time - tzatziki with pitta and olives and tortilla chips with salsa. The tzatziki and salsa were homemade and delicious. Our daughter loved her tuna sandwiches and especially the vanilla ice cream with a flake! But the absolute best part of this place are the owners - so kind and welcoming. Our daughter (4) was treated like a mini celebrity - everyone was so lovely to her and made her feel so special. They even remembered her on our second visit. We will absolutely come back as soon as we can, and will recommend them far and wide!

I had high hopes coming here on a sweltering day in Mousehole with my husband. We were greeted by a very friendly woman who I believe was the owner. I ordered warmed homemade scone, clotted cream and jam, hubby had the freshly made Victoria sponge with a side of clotted cream, his was lovely, mine on the other hand was not as the scone had been 'warmed' by putting it in a microwave, at least this is my assumption as it had no crisp outer like an oven warmed one and was just limp on the outside and soft and stodgy on the middle. I asked for butter which the owner happily said ok to , but was then slammed down by a rather surly chap from behind the counter. What made this so disappointing was that the owner had gone down to offer the local school teachers who were down by the harbour with a group of children some drinks, which she then took down, at this point the man started moaning that they need staff not her running off - there were only 6 people in the cafe! Then he continued to moan to the waitress that was still there. When the owner come back there was more bickering. To be honest I just wanted to relax and enjoy my food, not have to listen to someone else's griping.

Tiny café but with a warm welcome and delicious food. My husband had the home made mackerel pate (best we've ever tried) with brown toast; I had prawn sandwiches (big juicy prawns) on quality, brown bread, with a side of salad (or crisps), home made seafood sauce and dressing. And coffee for us both. The café is run by Mum, Dad and their daughter – and they make it a very pleasant experience. Wish we lived nearer!

This restaurant has such good service. You feel at home as soon as you walk through the door and they do their best to make you feel at ease. As soon as we were shown to our table the lady brought over books and cars for our son to keep him happy while we got on with sorting out our lunch. When the lady saw that our son had eaten all his cucumber she brought him some more. The food was excellent and they catered for my lactose intelligence. The restaurant is very clean with a brilliant atmosphere. We will definitely be returning.

What a brilliant experience. Probably the highlight of our long weekend away in Cornwall. We will be back just to taste more of what Harriet & Kim have to offer. My husband and I had Harriet's homemade smoked mackerel pate (me on a gluten free panini) and Bill, on fresh granary bread. My earl grey tea served in a vintage cup was the best accompaniment. Bill's coffee was sublime (no wonder the locals vote it has Mousehole's best coffee!). The teenagers had warm chocolate cake, never have we experienced anything as joyful. Well it was an unexpected joy and it makes a memory that we will all cherish - and make sure that we come back again! Thank you Harriet & Kim. You are the perfect hosts ❤️

Even if it is not just tea you’re looking for, this cafe is quaint and delightful for many reasons. When we first arrived, we announced that we were a group of six from the same family. We were unsure as to whether we would be able to be accommodated due to being a big group, however, we were quickly welcomed indoors. The host of the cafe was truly charming and welcoming and she made everything on the menu sound truly delicious. The cakes and scones are homemade. We all opted for a cream tea. The pots of tea were big so you didn’t need to worry about only getting one cup as it certainly did at least 3. The scones were warmed up and there was a mountain of Cornish clotted cream to slather upon our scones. You could choose from different flavour jams (strawberry, raspberry and sour cherry are some that I can remember), but, we all opted for strawberry jam and it was tasty. I loved that the host said we should be Cornish and make sure our cream went on the scone second. She was very friendly, smiley and welcoming. The toasties smelt and looked yummy. If I went again, I would definitely be tempted by the smoked mackerel pate. What a quaint, Cornish cafe! I would definitely return again if I were in the area.

We found this after walking around Mousehole trying to find somewhere suitable. Lovely find and warm welcome. The visit was spoilt by where we were asked to sit which was too close to another couple. There was table for 4 in window which looked lovely and in the sunshine I thought because we were 2 we were put where we were so never asked to move. However a young couple walked in minutes after and was given a choice. I felt we should have been given a choice also and in these days of social distancing felt uncomfortable through lunch and as if we were 2nd class

We tried the homemade salsa and nachos, homemade tzatziki and pitta, and homemade marinated olives. I can categorically tell you that my partner and I inhaled these! These were all amazing - try them you won't regret it. It is also a welcome change from the usual pasties etc.!We did however stick to traditional and ordered a high tea. The sandwiches were made fresh to order - my partner does not like fish and Harriet (the owner) was kind enough to change one of the sandwiches for us! Lovely service. We visited this café last week and the food was very good and value for money. Very charming quaint tea room, lovely comfortable surroundings. May be worth checking the opening times if visiting late in the day, I think we possibly visited at a time that they were needing to close earlier , closing times in the window stated 5pm , however at 3.30pm they were keen to close. This was not a problem for us, however the male staff member was not the `friendliest` and made us feel rushed and unwelcomed, not the best customer care, but we acknowledge that most likely they were just having a bad day, that we all have on occasions. The female staff member was very friendly and pleasant. A bad day by staff would not put us off visiting again!!The food was very good in a beautiful setting, would recommend the food.

TL;DR: delicious cream tea, would come again, would recommend to friends.Looks tiny from the outside, charming and airy and bright and refreshing inside. The cream tea was excellent - my mother, who is 70 and has rather a lot of experience with scones, said that it was the best scone she had ever had. I would agree - the scone was sweet, and slightly crumbly without being dry. Smoked mackerel patê with toast was mild and not too fishy.I’m taking one star off because the place is small, and as it filled up I felt like they were rushing us a bit to be able to re-use the table, but if I were staying longer I would definitely come back to try the coffee and the teacakes and other baked goods.

Lots of people were already on the cream teas and they certainly looked popular too. Excellent overall. Great customer service and also great with kids. Scones were home made and served with pride. I see some reviews saying that prices are abit steep at end of the day you pay for experience not just for food! I can't wait to return in the near future.

Superb cafe hidden away. Away from the maddening crowds and right by a little beach within the harbour. Just off the coastal path and the ate staff so friendly and welcoming. They couldn’t have been more helpful and pleasant if they tried. Ideal if you have a little ones as they have a high chair, books and toys.

Found a little gold mine on Old Quay Street in Mousehole Cornwall. Excellent service hospitality and general knowledge of the area . Cream tea is just perfectly delicious and all home made. The couple that run the place are bubbly and nothing is too much trouble and reasonably priced

The hostess here could not have been more accommodating. She offered some variations on the menu so that I got exactly what I wanted. She was equally welcoming to all the customers. The cakes looked fabulous although I didn't have any.

This little cafe is slightly off the beaten track in Mousehole. Brilliant welcome and excellent friendly staff. I had mackerel which was freshly made that morning and was delicious. Cake and clotted cream to finish which was delightful.

No one visiting Mousehole should miss having a cream tea here. The scones were so good.....light and fluffy and delicious clotted cream and jam. I had a cappuccino as I don't drink tea which was also good. My friends had the traditional cups of tea. The owners Harriet and Kim were very friendly too!

Came across this place walking up and down dale around Mousehole. One of my favourite Cornish villages! Extremely friendly staff, lovely and family run. Always a bit worried about going into little places with a pram but weren’t made to feel like a nuisance or anxious at all. Had the most delicious lunch in a fantastically friendly atmosphere. If they have the homemade mackerel patê on when you go I urge you to have it, it’s fantastic. Also loved the selection of jams available for scones. Thank you for a memorable visit. X

Found this delightful upstairs cafe by chance and had some of the best vegetarian food for a long time. We were made very welcome and chose the hummus bowl and roasted veg toasted sandwich. Both were excellent and very filling.

the only place open on a Sunday on St Martins! So glad it was open, it was absolutely heaving but we got there in time to get seats and what was left of the cakes and drinks.

I've only ever called in for a beer but no complaints so far and staff are nice too. There's a big beer garden which is very useful for the kids and dogs.
