What a find. Stunning seasonal menu in the most stunning restaurant. Exceptional food and Service. How did I not find this sooner.

I had a wonderful meal at the Zebra Riding Club. The food was incredible… I had the tasting menu and there were so many amazing flavours that made me smile. And the front of house staff were fantastic. A special thank you to Clare and to Toby who looked after me brilliantly. I’ll definitely be back.

Unbelievably amazing experience at this restaurant. The food was beyond excellent and the staff were so friendly. Toby in particular went above and beyond to make sure we had an excellent experience. We will be retuning. I highly recommend it.

We had a wonderful time dining at the Zebra Riding Club. Hands down the food is excellent, it’s fresh and cooked in front of you. Hats off to the chef! The service too is excellent. Claire tended to our every need and was simply excellent. She shows you just how good service can be - she’s set the bar high.

Really disappointing meal! I like Birch and have been once overnight and another time to meet a friend, both times the food has been decent and the staff great. Unfortunately on this occasion it was rubbish! We had the tasting menu at the zebra riding club - £68 per head without drinks, so you’d expect decent fare. For that we got some small plates to start: pickles, nice sourdough, beetroot and fennel. The fennel came with a herby green sauce that was massively oversalted. We then had cod cheeks which tasted of not very much at all due to lack of seasoning! My main was monkfish in a grey sea of oily sauce and way too many white beans and some stringy greens splodged on top. Really not very nice to the point I felt a bit sick! Pudding was nice but I’d lost my appetite by that point. Staff pleasant enough but service wasn’t great, we finished our drinks by end of the first course but not offered any more. Feel really let down, hopefully it was an off night for them as the Birch hotel in general is great.

This place is great! The simplistic nature of the restaurant with the single tasting menu option is perfect. Staggered courses with plenty of time to chat/drink inbetween. The fact the grow, forage and raise the meat, veg and herbs is a great touch. Really fresh modern flavours but doesn’t make you feel ‘overfull’ or like you need to be rolled out the door. With the casual atmosphere it also makes you feel like anyone/everyone is welcome with no feeling of pretentiousness. Service was great. A young team but all knew what their job was and how/when to do it. Really great experience all round! Also £58pp for tasting menu + snacks is very good value for the level of cooking. £40 wine pairing is highly recommended also.

We were lucky enough to sit at the chef's table and the experience was incredible! We opted for the tasting menu and everything was cooked to perfection. Fresh, simple and amazing flavourful food with the highest quality ingredients. The cod starter and pork main were exceptional. The chefs and staff are incredibly talented and welcoming. Also very accomodating for dietary requirements. Will be back!

This is one of the most ordinary and disappointing tasting menus ever. Sourdough bread, pickled vegetables, sickly soup and a sludgy dessert!. The main course pork was the only thing that was commendable! Service was extremely slow. Went for my daughters 'Special' birthday, which was very unfortunate, as we were excited and extremely disappointed! Has told them when I booked that it was a special occasion and there was no recognition of this, either.

On Sunday 11th June 2023 we visited the Zebra Riding Club in Hertfordshire at 12.15pm. Initially there were 7 of us, with another guest, a lawyer from New York, whose flight had arrived at Heathrow at 11am was making his way to the restaurant by Uber, was expected to arrive at 1.15pm. We ordered the entire a La Carte menu and a bottle of Ruinart Rose Champagne. I was subsequently informed that since it's a party of more than 6, we cannot order the a La Carte menu, but have to order the set menu. We ordered 7 of the set menu as the 8th guest had not arrived. Part of the set menu was asparagus with poached egg. When we had ordered 7 set Menu's, they served asparagus and 2 poached eggs. When inquired, Chef Nial had suggested that 7 guests were expected to dip the asparagus in 2 poached eggs? After the complaint they hurriedly served a 3rd poached egg for the 7 guests. When the 8th Guest arrived from Heathrow and ordered the same set menu, he was served a poached egg and asparagus. It seems that in this Michelin guide Restaurant, if one guest orders the set menu, you get 1 poached egg and asparagus. If 7 guests order the set menu, you get served 2 poached egg and asparagus. Beverage Director Luis apologised. Guests who use your guide must not have to face such quality of service. Another server informed us that the kitchen had not ordered enough produce.

The chef uses the ingredients expertly and balances the flavours well. The staff are professional, friendly and attentive. Well done to an amazing team. A Michelin star restaurant. As good as any restaurant in central London. Will definitely be back soon.

For the money I’m afraid this was distinctly ordinary and somewhat disappointing. Service was friendly and efficient but small tip - if a course is not touched by a diner at least ask why rather than remove a full plate and say nothing. Plus I appreciate that you are dog friendly but two large dogs on the table next to us eyeing up our food was not pleasant ( fortunately you could move us) and you really shouldn’t allow dogs to sit on the seats - that is awful. A once in a lifetime experience I’m afraid.

We visit every other month or so and never disappointed. First class service an well presented food.

Love this place. Went today for Mother’s Day- service was faultless, very friendly attentive and knowledgable staff. Food delicious and great choice of wine. Not the cheapest restaurant but so worth it for the good quality locally sourced food and for somewhere that little bit different. Thank you ! We’ll be back.

They obviously don't know what a tasting menu is with a wine pairing. £40 for the wine pairing was a joke! We had 3 extremely small glasses of wine, and they were all abysmal! £40 for 3 small wines that tasted like water or vinegar is a joke!!! The food was okay at best. When I was asked about how our meal was, I said the wine was poor. I was told it must be my pallet, said in anaggressive way we felt! I know wine and it was not good! Also, our waitress was useless, abrupt and rude. We heard good things about this place, so we were extremely disappointed. If you have heard good things about this establishment and are thinking about going there, don't bother! Expensive tut! Spend half the money and go to somewhere like lussmanns and actually have a decent meal!
