Not one for writing bad reviews and won't possibly matter as the place is closing down and I can see why. Booked on open table and when we arrived was told they had cancelled our booking as they close at 7.30. Yes on a Saturday. As I had left my phone at home I didn't get the message. Food average service average. Just done bother.

Excellent meal and relaxed experience. Good value, good service, will come back. The young woman who served us was so helpful. Thank you.

We visited this restaurant for the first time and took advantage of the 5pm-7pm early bird. The girl serving was very friendly and attentive. Our party of 5 all had the 2 course menu for £18 and everyone loved both dishes. My main of Tabdoori lamb chops, spicy potatoes and red onion salad was a delight. I would recommend anyone trying this place to look beyond any negative reviews and try the food for yourself. It’s a gem of a place, just needs more support to help build the atmosphere

This place started with so much promise but unfortunately it seems to have all gone a bit astray! Positive first - the food was lovely so cannot fault that (you might therefore say why am I complaining!) Without the food, I am afraid the rating would definitely be Poor. Minor niggle I suppose but we arrived well in advance of the end of the Early Bird menu although were not offered this. Unfortunately, I did not question this at the beginning as thought perhaps Facebook was incorrect or I had missed another post about it being stopped. When we asked about it on paying for the meal, the server said that the Manager should have offered it and she didn't know why he hadn't. We therefore asked to see him and he had gone home leaving only the server to hold the fort. She was very polite and friendly but not that helpful. She looked a little out of her depth! The opening hours/days are now quite restrictive and, whilst this is presumably down to a lock of custom making it unviable to open more often, it is all a bit quiet now and lacking in any real atmosphere. Given other recent reviews, it's looking a bit like a downward spiral which is sad as it is a great location and could be a brilliant place to come. I cannot therefore recommend coming here for a special occasion as, I am afraid, it is not very special at all anymore!

Visited on a Friday lunch time and the place was pretty quiet. Lovely decor and vibe in the restaurant. The food was good but unfortunately took so long to come (there were only two other tables in the whole restaurant), and I agree with the other review where the lady said the staff seemed lost. Perhaps they were just inexperienced, but no one was leading or overseeing what was going on. Desserts took almost just as long to come. I counted four members of staff in the kitchen as I paid the bill! I wouldn’t like to visit if it was busy. I think our party all left feeling a little disappointed. I can see so much potential here , I hope they can get it right.

Nice clean venue, with a good vibe, service a little slow, but there was a large group of us, smallish menu, but quality food mostly, I think more explanation of the food on the menu, would have been better if I'd seen pictures of the burgers with 2 small patties, yet we got a big fat one, which they didn't like. The minted lamb pie was outstanding. For dessert the homemade Bakewell tart was really poor, but the crumbles & sticky toffee pudding as lovely

This place has always had glitches front of house, but the food used to be very good quality. Today was a disappointing meal for all of us. The bread which arrived with 2 starters was stale which is inexcusable. The scallop starter was overcooked, and the onion soup lukewarm. So a couple of hits and a couple of misses. The mains were a bit hitty-missy as well. I loved my lamb, apart from the cold lump of potato, the salmon main was good but didn’t have enough sauce, the chicken main was so-so, and the lasagne was poor. But the biggest disappointment was the pudding. The crumble here used to be first rate - cooked with real flair with a hint of ginger in the crumb, and outstanding crème anglaise with proper vanilla. Today’s was just a terrible watery mess with packet custard. What a let down!

Fantastic food! Great service. 10/10 I would definitely visit again. We had such a lovely time and could not fault the food or the service.

Really disappointing experience for Sunday lunch this weekend. Having been here a few times now we've had a couple of good experience and a couple of poor ones, and on balance this was the worst. Service was dreadful - inexperienced staff, very unattentive, had to ask several times for various things. Party of 8 and I'd tried to contact the restaurant after booking on line to ask for a booth / back table as the acoustics in here are not great, particularly for the older generation in the party. No response on 2 occasions ringing so reverted to leaving message. On arrival mentioned this & was told seating allocated on arrival - really poor to then be squeezed into a table in the middle which was long, tight and noisy, when there were tables available around the walls but no effort to sort this. Fish and chips were not great, Sunday lunch all piled on a plate together swimming in gravy, and the steak and ale pie.....no steak, no meat at all but full of mushrooms! Won't be rushing back I'm afraid based on today's experience.

We have visited three times in the past couple of months and had a great meal every time. First trip was Sunday lunch and the lamb was excellent and the service was very attentive. Have also visited on Saturday lunch for a pre-game meal before watching Wakefield AFC. Again the meal, service and experience were top notch. I am delighted Wakefield has somewhere like this and I already have another couple of visits planned.

Service is good but you can tell the poor staff are rushed off their feet.Food mediocre at best,asked for steak medium rare it was blue and totally inedible So much potential but the food just lets it down alongside the over priced drinks

Lovely food, atmosphere and superb attentiveness from all staff. We arrived with no booking but the staff managed to sort us a table. We were really well looked after throughout and even given a tour of the venue. The food was tasty and well presented. It felt a bit special to us. Thanks to all staff working on Saturday evening!

Sadly my party and i had a very poor Christmas sitting the food was awful and they ran out of food My dad had soup to start which was stone cold in comparison to others served at the table. My husband ordered the duck breast that was inedible and didn’t resemble duck. We had 3 vegetarian dishes between us for the main that again were not as expected; there were no roast potatoes or salsify on the plate as described on the menu, instead we were served dry mashed potato and a neon yellow sauce which tasted oily rather than of tarragon as described. I could not taste Wensleydale in the pastry filling as described which was undercooked. My mother had requested vegetarian gravy with the mains which she had confirmed ahead but there was no option offered so her food was dry. We had pre booked our meal as requested, however we were informed after waiting a very long while for dessert that the restaurant had run out of creme brûlée, so 3 of us went without dessert. It makes little sense how that happened. We did not inform our server of our disappointment on the day as it was not her fault and we appreciated the young girl had given up her Christmas Day. But I did contact the restaurant following the day considering the £500+ bill we were left with was very difficult to swallow, but I’ve received no reply.

Menu was extremely basic and not much to choose from at all. Fish and chips, burgers etc. simple food so how can you get it so wrong? My partner had chicken wings with blue sauce, the wings were actually cooked in the blue sauce and not in a pot on the side. They had hardly any chicken on them, Over cooked and all you could taste was cheese. Awful. My roast figs and goats cheese, well there was no goats cheese just extremely cheap mixed salad with a tiny bit of balsamic and soggy figs, inedible. Asked for my steak medium rare, blood poured out if it when i cut it, really fatty. Ordered sticky toffee pudding for pudding, not pleasant and all i could taste was cinamon. For what i would call pretty basic food, they got it completely wrong. You can see the serving hatch from the restaurant and food left sitting there for over an hour. They really need to either up their game or get a new chef.

Having been to the Yorkshire Brasserie several times since it's opening, including Christmas Day, we returned for lunch with friends last week. It was fantastic! The food was superb and the service excellent, staff were attentive and informative without it feeling uncomfortable. The location and ambience are in my opinion up with the best you'll find in Wakefield. I'm aware this a relatively new venture for the owners and from a good start they're getting better and better. We will without doubt be returning and I have no hesitation in recommending.

Great service & fantastic food. We had tomato soup & salmon starters. Both lovely flavours & well presented. For mains, steak which was cooked to perfection, vegetable lasagne, meatballs & Moules. All fantastic! The service was great & the staff lovely. Will definitely go again.

We came for lunch in dec- we were quickly seated by the staff who I will say were pretty good and tried there best! The starters came within 10 mins of being seat- duck confit with black pudding balls! Literally all tasted the same - bland/flavourless, the main steak and lamb chops both came out blue- I asked for rare and can eat blue so not that much of an issue for me- my partner asked for slightly pink chops, they came out bluer then my steak and had to be sent back. The sauces were runny and again flavourless!! The staff explained they had a new chef, when you explained the food was poor, which is not really an excuse for the poor standard of food! Nice setting with decent staff but the food was poor, we won’t be revisiting

Having visited many times prior and being impressed, we booked a table of 10 for Christmas Day 2023. No correspondence whatsoever in the lead up to the day. Had to get in touch with them to ask about Children’s menu and it was like pulling teeth to get hold of it. £75 for adults £65 for children. I get it- it’s Christmas Day, the staff need to be paid well but the food was so disappointing to say the least. There was no communication between staff. No organisation from management. Got the number of Guests to our table wrong so we were a seat down. The starters were lacking flavour, my black pudding with runny egg was flat cold. The deserts were tasteless. There were no mince pies and hot drinks served like it stated on the menu, we had to ask several times for this. The main course was the nicest part. The bruschetta served to our 6 year old was something even many adults wouldn’t eat. It was all fancy with balsamic glaze and rocket. We queried this and was told it was correct, only for the actual child’s starter to be brought out with the main course, flat cold pizza bread. It was clear to see that they had crammed far too many people into this seating time. They had zilch organisation and definitely took on too much of a challenge. Sometimes you learn from experience but I would say it was a real let down for a well look forward to family Christmas Day. One thing I may add is that the young waiters did work their socks off under what appeared to be bad leadership. I hope they got rewarded appropriately for their hard work and giving up their own family days.

Visited this evening with colleagues for our Christmas get together. It was my first visit, but certainly not my last. The food was really good and the service friendly. And gluten free options were available.

Visit with family on Saturday dinner and we very much enjoyed, service are great (!still needs some improvements) food are fantastic, great place for casual dining in open space restaurants. We definitely will be back.
