This was the first time we had encountered The York Roast Co and we weren’t disappointed. My daughter has severe allergies and we always have a nightmare eating out but this was just the ticket and who does not love a good roast! It was also great to find something quintessentially British in Chester with so many other cafe and boutique restaurants offering continental and other world fare it was nice to see something which represented ye olde Chester. The staff were friendly and accommodating and made you feel welcome and the food - well it was like your Grandma’s Sunday lunch, good quality food, well cooked and delicious. We would definitely recommend!

We bought Yorkshire pudding dinners from here .The roast potatoes were inedible,hard and brown inside.They were very bad .Meat portions were very small too. We politely let the staff know that they needed to throw out all the potatoes as they were so poor. They all nodded so they definitely heard us however 30 minutes later we walked past and the same inedible potatoes were still in the window waiting to be served. Not good at all from those staff.

Looking at Yorkshire Roast through the window in Chester the food looks very appealing. We went inside due to the weather, going down the stairs to the dining area which was rather steep and needed some TLC. The food arrive in cardboard boxes with wooden knife and fork which were not very good for eating. The staff were good and the food was disappointing.

Lovely place , the employees r so nice , and amazing food , the roast wrap is definitely my favourite thing now , and being able to pick any way u want your roast is nice.

I absolutely loved this place! I wasn't sure what to order, but the friendly staff member who was taking my order was very patient. I ordered a yorkshire pudding wrap however I asked if I could remove some of the ingredients I didn't like. My wrap came out quickly and exactly as I ordered. It was one of the best things I have ever eaten!

Popped in here for a quick bite to eat as a Saturday lunch on a day trip to Chester. Frankly the food is a sorry excuse for a roast dinner. God knows what foreign tourists must think of our great national dish. We ordered two roast beef Yorkshire pudding wraps and a side (paper cup) of roast potatoes. The beef was sparse but not offensive in itself, however the seemingly tinned vegetables and stuffing (with beef?) were. The potatoes were made soggy by the cup of gravy which they had perished in, not crispy in the slightest. The wrap itself was ok and gravy not bad though I’d take an educated guess that it was made from granules. With two soft drinks our bill was £25, the wooden knifes and forks are complimentary. Avoid if you like decent food, metal cutlery and meals served on a plate.

WOW the yorkshire pudding wrap was amazing, we got the Turkey & Ham Yorkshire Pudding wrap with stuffing, roast potatoes, veggies, gravy and cranberry sauce. As well as the Beef Roast Dinner which came in a giant Yorkshire pudding. Wow. This was insane too! And we went on a glorious day and sat outside and enjoyed this in the sun - it was all just perfect!

Really enjoyed our first ever visit very recently and food was at our table minutes after ordering. Our whole family loved their food and the yorkie pud wrap was amazing! It’s a perfect place to go for a pit stop if you are shopping in a hurry.

On the face of it, a hot roast beef sandwich on a cold winters day sounded like the perfect antidote to the hunger created from walking 5 miles around beautiful Chester. The promise of sizzling hunks of meat, glazed and moistened by hot fat, whilst served by smiling staff, eager to assist and help you enjoy your rare weekend of non-work in beautiful Chester was the reason we were happy to wait. The truth? A 25 minute queue in a cramped, grumpy line of people unsure who behind the counter were servers, cleaners, jobless, or homeless. It did however provide entertainment as I watched the girl cutting the meat take off her glove to wipe her nose, clearly food hygiene training wasn’t wasted there. The food order was eventually taken, clarified, and then a further 10 minutes were spent watching the staff and wondering how on earth it was possible to move so slowly. On arrival, and having fought our way out of the shop, eager to unwrap this delightful treat, we discovered that one order was correct, the other however was not. Tasty, but woefully dry, without the additions we’d paid for. My granny would say “it filled a hole”, my Nanna would say “waste of money”, I would say, “never again”.

We’ve walked past here quite a few times and it’s always been busy so one Friday we decided to call in , we were there about 11.00 and it wasn’t that busy , we ordered the food and sat down inside . It is very small inside with not much seating , not long after our food turned up and to be fair it was really nice so too were the staff . After reading some of the reviews you probably wouldn’t bother but sometimes you just have to visit places for yourself. It really is good value for money. If I could fault it it would be plastic cutlery, trying to cut the roasties is a chore but will definitely return . Keep up the good work

OMG awful totally & utterly awful, asked & paid for a two roast takeaway only got turkey swimming in gravy which was lacking in every respect & devoid of taste. Had to repeat the order three times to a staff member who’s motivation was elsewhere! Standing waiting I thought okay is it just grumpy me who’s having problems... no surprise other customers having similar issues. Situated on Bridge Street in the heart of the city center sounds ideal for a quick wholesome snack. Our strong advice don’t bother just walk past without a glance. The inexperienced woeful staff members had absolutely no clue when it comes to customer service or speed of response or interaction. Okay you could argue that paying these undertrained young folk minimum wage is only going to get you what was on offer behind the counter in Bridge Street.. Wake up!! Is this really your doomed to failure business model for York Roast.. “Customer do actually matter.. we are not just an inconvenience” Recommended that’s a nope .. Xiexie

Decidimos probar la envoltura de budín de Yorkshire, que era básicamente un budín de Yorkshire doblado con verduras asadas y una carne de su elección. El budín de Yorkshire estaba empapado e insípido, las verduras supuestamente asadas consistían en dos pequeños trozos de zanahoria y un frijol. . . . desafortunadamente no nos gustó y lo dejamos perdón, no volveremos allí de nuevo. El personal tampoco fue particularmente atento o amable. . . solo ocupados charlando entre ellos.

Lo mejor de este lugar es que el personal es amable. El sistema de colas es deficiente y no hay suficiente espacio para que la gente salga cuando hay una cola. Lo peor fue la comida, tuvimos un sandwich de cerdo. . . el cerdo era graso e insípido, servido en trozos en lugar de en rodajas. Había tanto relleno que abrumaba el sándwich. Comí menos de la mitad de la mía antes de llamarlo un día. Lo único bueno fue el chisporroteo, del que obtienes tres pequeños pedazos encima del sándwich.

Food is basic, well cooked, accompanied by fresh market veg. Usually beef, turkey, ham, on offer. All looks good. Meat free option also available. Yorkshire puddings, great, would recommend, either with meat or a varied selection of veg. Don’t take my word for it, go and give it a go when next in Chester and want a well cooked lunch, at a reasonable price. Very clean and great staff. You will not be disappointed. Your choice of lunch is placed in an insulated container to keep it warm. Eat indoors, plenty of room, or, sit outside (weather permitting), at the tables and chairs provided in front of the eatery. Enjoy!
