Good quick service here at Yew Tree inn, good prices too. Mixie was nice, Achari chicken, prawns and fish pakora were very good. Curry wasn’t the best we’ve had, naan was very nice. Would possibly return when in the area.

From garlic naan breads that’s devoid of garlic, to tasteless curries and tasteless mixed grills. It’s a busy place and I can’t work out why. The atmosphere is quite good, but everything else is very bland. And quite pricey. There’s at least 10 better places in the area. My personal favourite is the spinney in charlemont. 100 x better and not very busy, it really makes no sense 😳

We were a family group of 10, we enjoyed the food and it is what you expect from a desi pub. Unfortunately it was a Saturday night and very busy, so grabbing a member of staff to try and locate our pre-booked table was a bit of a challenge. We were in a booth so away from the rest of the pub, but it was very loud. Bit of an experience going and ordering / paying for your own food from the kitchen - but it was fine. It hasn’t put us off because we enjoyed the food and we will probably visit again !

Ordered from here for the first and last time. Totally mixed up my order and put the wrong sauces on the wrong wraps. The conseqeunce of this was a yoghurt sauce on a vegan soya wrap and my vegan partner having nothing he could eat. The restaourant did not apologise and were unintrested. Just told us to go through just eat for a refund and wouldn't aknowledge their error or send the right food. Insult to injury that the wrong food that was sent was poor quality.

Food came on time but no salad sauces or chutney. Called them and spoke to three people who just kept saying I’m sorry about that, I said it’s ok to be sorry but I nave no sauces to dip and no salad for the popadoms and mixed grill. Then someone came on the phone and said “ come and fetch some “. I explained that is not an option and that’s why I had delivered. Then a gentleman came on and said he would drop some off…….. did he …….. NO. just saiD that to fob me off ( after waiting for 10-15 mins we started to eat as nothing had come - by then food was practically cold).

Our first trip back after the reopening following lockdown. Still lots of safety precautions in place. Masks until seated, everyone signs in and sanitises their hands. We were seated offered drinks, which were brought straight to us. We all ordered our starters and meals. Starters took about 10 minutes and about 30 minutes for our main meals so all nicely timed. The man serving us was polite and made sure we were enjoying our meal and had everything we needed. This place has a great atmosphere, music TVs or sports depending what's on. Comfortable, heating was on as it was colder weather. There are also nice individual booths on the far side as well as a large restaurant area. The restaurant serves Indian food, but also serves pizza and has a children's menu. Today's dinners enjoyed a few fish dishes, chicken tikka sizzling. Soya vegetable curry and chicken bhuna. Egg fried rice, salad's, naan breads, chips, Popadoms etc .All very tasty with the most amazing crispy chilli chips dish which everyone loved. If you're looking for somewhere relaxing and easy going to eat out this is the place. Clean, comfortable, nice staff. Amazing food. Well worth a visit.

We were looking around for somewhere to enjoy a nice meal out when I remembered eating here once so we booked a table not really knowing what to expect now, we were not disappointed the food was as good as the reviews said it would be. One of our party is a pescatarian who ordered the fish curry and raved about it. We ordered different dishes to try, the fish pakora was delicious as was the masala sauce. The food arrived hot and was simply delicious. Everyone in our party were impressed with the quality of all the dishes, we tried vegetarian, fish and meat dishes and all were very enjoyable. We're booking to go back again really soon and this will definitely be added to our favourite restaurants! Safety is taken seriously, tables were clean, one of our party asked for a menu to be wiped over but that's the only slight thing noticed. This restaurant is lovely, it will be nice when Covid is under control to be able to have a big family get together and this would definitely be a restaurant of choice to treat everyone! If you're looking for a really tasty restaurant to take family or friends out for a treat look no further. TVs are all around, individual TVs in booths but all at a low level so conversation can be heard. It's nice to go to a pub where you can enjoy the background music but hear each other. It's a nice relaxing pub to enjoy delicious dishes, I'm looking forward to trying even more dishes when we go again and with food this tasty we will be making regular visits.

Have been here a few times but won't go back after tonight. All tables were reserved at 4.30pm for 7.30pm ish. Went to sit at a table with 3 hours left on it only to be told to move. Seriously! You can't keep tables so far in advance. I did see them turning people away. Their loss I suppose. Ordered mixed grill which was fine. Sweet chilli chicken which I specifically asked for mild. Well it was so spicy it was inedible. It made my husband bad and he had to sit outside. We left swiftly after this due to him being ill. Such a shame as we have had many a nice meal but if it makes you ill its not worth it.

Found this lovely place today, food was lovely we had a mixed grill, masala chips, 2 naans and a chicken curry and it all only costed £19.50 had plenty of the mixed grill to spare to take home too! I would highly recommend this place the curry was delicious and the mixed grill too, I’ve been to plenty of mixed grill pubs to know what’s good and what’s not. Reluctantly gave my regular (Champys/Bradford arms) in Walsall a miss to try this on recommendation. There were some positives, such as the king prawns, naan bread, price and the overall cleanliness of the place, but that is where they end. I do not know if the one in Walsall is that good or this was that poor, the chicken tikka masala tasted like tomato soup and the mixed grill was served on raw bed of onions. The onions were a disappointment as every other skillet mixed grill I have had has been hot enough to cook them and they become a nice side to the dish. Raw onions are not to my liking so I left them and at the end of the meal the skillet was swimming in a juice like substance awash with soggy onions. Overall, it was not a disaster but not a place I would visit even if the meal was free due to the bland taste of the food.

Normally visit other local places with work colleagues but this time we thought we'd come back here after a friend said to try their new family platter. We met here with a small group of friends (on a weekday evening) I wasn't really that taken by the choices on the menu, we went for the family grill with vegetable biryani, the grill arrived on a sizzling hotplate and was a decent amount, it just seemed though everything was too like for like and overcooked, just seemed a big mess all thrown together, the king prawn was inedible, the biryani sauce was too spicy even though we asked for mild to medium, our nan bread was quite dry, the rice was ok and a large portion. the menu said it came with salad and chutney, but the so called chutney was none existent it was actually yoghurty green sauce, can't see how they can still list it as chutney on the menu. It was football night on the numerous tv;s that swamped the whole eating area, spoilt it for me as not everyone wants to be surrounded by it. I wouldn't go here again mainly as the food ovevrall was not that nice

Anyone who knows their food will understand that a good eatery, whether its a simple food stall, local chip shop, normal restaurant or a high end Michelin starred place with the pomp and extravagance that comes with the label, its the combination of the simple things done very well in exactly the same way every single time, in pleasant surroundings with attentive (but not overbearing) service, at a price that justifies the satisfaction that comes with the meal.

This was recommended heavily by family and friends so had to give it a whirl. The Yew Tree was a popular pub in its heyday when pubs were doing much more business than they do today . It now retains the basic features of a pub but is kitted out with dining tables and an open plan kitchen on the one side of the room. The idea is you can have a pint and order a curry at the same time instead of having to visit your local Indian restaurant after s few bevvies. Sounds great but don’t expect the frills and ambience of said restaurant. Remember you are in a pub with a pub atmosphere especially when there are tv screens all around showing sports or music programs.

I have dined here on several occasions over the past few weeks when it was bought to my attention by some family members who recommended it. I was not left disappointed as I have been here 4 times now and tried different dishes and all have been equally as good. The curries here are by far the best I have tasted, you can tell they are homemade and have a authentic texture to them, not like some of the overly creamy sauces you get elsewhere. You cannot beat the pricing either, starters approx. £4, sides approx. £1 and mains approx. £6, you can even get a bottle of wine for £5! It is a relaxed atmosphere with sports playing on a number of TV's, the venue is child friendly and cater for large groups (having just celebrated my cousin's birthday here). I cannot express how well they have got this restaurant right both in terms of the food, the pricing, the décor, the menu etc. Definitely worth a visit.

First impressions of the Yew Tree pub were good, It had a modern Interior which was done to a good standard with an open plan kitchen and a large car park. The chicken tikka sizzler was good as were the accompanying dips and salad. The main fish curry was very salty and the fish pieces had the skin left on which spoilt the meal. We also ordered a lamb Balti and lamb saag which were also very salty as well. Take a look at my other reviews for local curries houses which serve far better meals.

The Yew Tree simply is a first rate experience for a punjabi mixed grill pub. I have been to over 25 of these sorts of pubs over decades and in my opinion the Yew Tree has all the potential to be the best. The customer service is second to none from both bar staff and the chefs. Food is consistently good and comes out fresh, piping hot and with little waiting time. The taste of the food is authentic and their is also a few indo asian options which are superb. The owner has clearly spent a lot of money on making the Yew Tree a family friendly, welcoming pub. I have visited on several occasions with my young family (4 kids) and parents who are all comfortable in these surroundings. It is because of all of the above the Yew Tree is now my first choice whenever I fancy a curry n grill. Give it a go you wont be disappointed!
