The Yarrow Restaurant in Thanet

Stayed in January for a one night Taster Menu experience. A lovely break with helpful and efficient staff, a spacious and comfortable room and excellent food. Contrary to one review we read, the location is fine being only around ten minute's walk from the very pleasant town of Broadstairs.

We stayed at the Yarrow Hotel during the Easter bank holdiday weekend 2024. Excellent clean welcoming hotel. Rooms are clean modern and have free WiFi access. Tea/coffee making , double wardrobe, iron and ironboard. Safe, desk , room service and TV/telephone. The bathroom had a bath as well as a shower. Complimentary toiletries and fresh towels. We stayed in a deluxe double room and there was plenty of.space. However, I would have preferred a room not above the dining kitchen area, as you can hear lots of movement after the restaurant closes at 10pm when the dining kitchen area staff re tidying up. Ground are clean and tidy, during our stay the garden area was not open but they did have. Solarium area. Free carparking on site. The hotel has a spa, massage treatments didn't use it The hotel is 10-15 walk to the beach and local shops. Broadstairs is a small town with a good selection of fish n chips, ☕️ coffee, takeaway, cake shops, chain shops. As well as independent owned shops and pubs/bars. There is a toursit information hut near the beach. The local.bus no: 69 cost £2.00 single for a round tour of Broadstairs, however, we didn't get a chance to ride it. From South London (traffic congestion free) it takes up to 1.5hrs to.get to Broadstairs. Ramsgate and Margate is just next door.

It' rated as a 4 star hotel. Positives. Rooms are nice, big. Beds big and comfy. Lots of parking. Negatives. Plastic cups in room, small bottles of water provided, tiny plastic shower gels. So environmentally unfriendly. Shocking! 4 star? No. 3 at best. Plastic flimsy cups in room. No biscuits. No dressing gowns or slippers. No Netflix. Small TV. What is 4 star? 7 course tasting menu. Ok. Not great, not bad. Service great.

the woman next door to us has had at least 4 men visit her the noise was sexy we lived it.. she did too amazing hotel but can hear everything thru the walls just happy we didn't bri g the kids this time lx

Beautiful building. A modern hotel that makes the most of the historical building it occupies. I went there on business trip two times and every times I stayed there for 4 nights- this Nov-Dec 2023. The breakfast was awesome. Breakfast was also very good with a choice of eggs freshly prepared to go with the buffet. They have veg sausages as well. Only thing I don’t like is menus are same for each day. This could be improved with slightly different menu. This hotel is close to Broadstairs rail station – appx 7 Min by LOOP Bus. Loop Bus frequency is very good ( appx 10 min interval). Appx 17 mins walk from Broadstairs station. The staffs were very kind and helpful. The blankets and pillows were comfortable. Bed could be improved. Bed sheets and towels were quite old , but cleaned. There were kettle, tea and coffee in the room. Room air-condition was good. When I was first time Carpet was good but 2nd time Carpet was old and little bit smelly when I moved into the room. Would like to request the Management to look into this. The standard room was spacious, and was equipped with all the necessities. Safe and hairdryer etc included. In the room there were bath tub, with fixed shower, was badly missing hand shower. Plenty of parking (appx 40)were available. The bar/restaurant area has a TV and nice sofa chairs. The staff are friendly and attentive. The jacuzzi and steam room can be pre-booked. Overall good experience.

Lovely big hotel quite close to the town and beach. Plenty of parking and a friendly welcome from staff. Room was bigger than expected, which was a nice surprise, and very comfortable for our 1 night. There's a large spa on site but it was fully booked when we went, probably should have booked in advance. It looked very nice though. Bar staff were very helpful and the drinks were excellent. Had a couple of cocktails which were very enjoyable. Breakfast was also very good with a choice of eggs freshly prepared to go with the buffet.

As frequent visitors to Broadstairs we often stay here and for good reason. Great hotel, staff, rooms, location, breakfast, services etc., highly recommended!

Three of us went for afternoon tea last week. It was absolutely delightful. Slightly uncomfortable at times as the front door kept blowing open and it was like someone suddenly turning on the A/C. We'd had to wait outside in the wind and cold to be let in which wasn't pleasant then I understood why! The waiter was lovely, friendly and efficient without being intrusive. The food was delicious and we had a lovely time.

Went for the tasting menu. The food was spectacular. Really tasty and a lovely wine pairing to go with it. Service was friendly and attentive even when it got a but busier in the evening. I will definitely be back for the next tasting evening based on this experience and would highly recommend you give these guys a go

Nice enough but a little shabby. Marks on walls .expensive stay .but suppose that's due to location. Staff very friendly.

Grote mooie kamers, iets ouder, rustige omgeving. Super lekkere High tea gehad, vriendelijk personeel. Ontbijt was goed. Veel parkeerplaats.

Beautifully thought out, clean refreshing, utterly relaxing, tranquil, excellent staff from night porter to morning service to managment, all very helpfull. A real true hidden gem in Broadstairs..

First time having an afternoon tea here with friends. We live locally. We have tried several teas and this was certainly one of the best though a little more expensive than we usually pay. It was a week day so not busy service was good and we were offered another pot of tea. Definitely recommend.

A quality 7 course tasting menu for only £55 represented exceptional value. The £35 accompanying flight of wines were fairly average, but again well priced. The lamb dish and apple soufflé were the 2 standout dishes. The trainee waiters tended to gabble when explaining the food, but the menu left on table provided adequate detail. A very enjoyable experience.

The food we had here was great we had a seven course tasting menu with a matching wine flight all the dishes were great and the wine wasn't to bad either very very nice experience

A previous visit in October 2020 was absolutely wonderful, helpful staff, lovely tearoom, white tablecloths, comfortable chairs and a wonderful selection of fresh sandwiches of your choice and delicious traditional cakes. Unfortunately, it's very different now, with horrible selection of savoury eats, plus one cucumber, stale sandwich and equally horrible sweet treat selection, although the scone was nice. The food was presented on a wooden wrack, type of thing. Please go back to how it was in 2020, it was a traditional afternoon tea and everything we ate was so delicious,

I had lunch today in the bar, ordered the Greek salad £7.50 it came in a tiny black bowl, tomato onion and feta no olives! Absolutely zero value for money 😞

If you need to eat on arrival to the hotel, please go somewhere else. The "Bar Menu" is limited and apparently staffed by the dishwasher that cannot cook (sorry, but this is the case). All orders that I have placed in the bar area have been sent back, but not for trivial reasons, mostly inaccurate (OK grilled cheese and Parma ham with no ham) and a similar order for a grilled cheese and Parma ham that was burnt to a crisp. No apologies from the staff, just a refund. None.

Highly recommend to try and you wont be disappointed with the service and the quality of the food .Very good

Excellent 7 course tasting menu with wine flight and a great breakfast. Can't comment on value for money as it was a gift, but I would definitely recommend the Yarrow.

I guess management are concerned as they have deleted this review once already - but not concerned enough to do the decent thing and reach out to us to try and find a solution. Refused to accept a restaurant voucher that was a couple of weeks out of date. We run a family owned local Domicilliary Care company and have been dealing on the front line, with the pandamic for over 2 years. General Manager wasn't interested in why we hadn't been able to use the voucher. As someone who used to eat here on a weekly basis with the Rotary Club, and visited on numerous occasions with family and friends, they have now lost our custom and our positive recommendations.

Went to the restaurant for a very special meal to celebrate 2 birthdays and my mum recoving from chemo and stage 4 cancer. Had such high hopes but was bitterly disappointed. Starters were cheese souffle (delicious) duck (dry) and lamb bacon (ok). Main courses and sides were hamburger (just looked like something you would find anywhere, nothing refined or different about it and stood out as odd compared to our meals. Our main were supposed to be fillet of beef. This was the most expensive on the menu and was very very poor. No real jus or sauce. NOTHING came with it. Some kind of white vegetable that tasted like earth or dirt. Just so poor. Then we ordered sides. Chips seemed frozen ones. The spinach with garlic and then a bacon crumb was whipped spinach and was horrible. The crushed pink potatoes were just that. Boiled potatoes crushed and the pea, lettuce and bacon was revolting. Not sure why you want hot lettuce with peas. Sides were £4 each and didn't get eaten. The final part of the meal, I cannot fault in any way. Truly the best desert I've ever had. Billed as chocolate, raspberry, rose and pistachio, it was gorgeous and very clever. Rose jelly in the centre of the chocolate, beautiful raspberry sorbet and a gorgeous tiny choux pastry topped with rose flavouring. Turkish delight deconstructed on a plate. Such a shame. Over £200 spent and thoroughly disappointed by it. We told the waitress but honestly, she could not have cared less and was probably the most bored member of staff I've ever seen. She asked us a second time if everything was OK and I could not be bothered to repeat myself so I said nothing. Our first visit and our last. On such a special night we expected fantastic food as billed on their website but so much let it down. Having eaten in equivalent places in the past, this was by far, the worst.

Bought my other half here for a very special occasion. I had tried to enquire what the tasting menu was but told it changes daily. When we arrived and saw the menu, my partner couldn't have half the stuff advertised. Asked for the A La Carte menu. He ordered pork belly. It was soft slab of fat not crispy so couldn't eat. I ordered gnocci and just a warning, it comes dry. Not in sauce. So no food consumed. We did not get charged so thank you for that. However so disappointing as now 2130 ending up with kebab takeaway in the high street. Classy.

The food was so good that we managed to eat three courses; quite a rarity. The menu was wide ranging and clearly sourced local suppliers. The four of us chose different dishes which were all exquisite and pleasingly presented. The staff were professional, courteous and enthusiastic. Extensive, competitively priced wine list was followed by a digestif in the bar. The only disappointment was that the dining room was fully booked on the second night of our stay. However, the friendly and knowledgable Receptionist recommended several restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. The one we chose the second night was also excellent.

We had a really first class experience at the Yarrow. We enjoyed the 7 course taster menu and wine flight. The food was really exceptional and the service was a delight.

We didn't have the Taster Menu - the portions looked very generous, but we thought our dinner both nights was excellent. Staff very friendly and well trained.

Lovely hotel. We had a 7 course vegetarian tasting menu with wine and stayed the night. Food was good. Staff friendly and helpful and the room was spacious and clean. The star off is only as the bathroom was large but mostly empty. Bath and shower was small which didn't really use the space. Overall though highly recommended!

Visited today with a friend for a Spa experience and were welcomed warmly with refreshments and given very clear instructions about how things would work.Everything was immaculate and the treatments were very relaxing indeed.We enjoyed the jacuzzi etc and also had a lovely Afternoon tea afterwards.We paid and and were dismayed to be challenged by a female member of the bar staff as to whether we had paid for the tea we were leaving?Clearly a communication issue but otherwise couldn't fault the staff..

We are from the main menu and it was delicious, but we will be going back when we can to try the tasting menu.

Went to a wedding reception here. Excellent food, lovely outside area and the staffs attention to detail and helpfulness was second to none.

Just had a lovely day at the Yarrow hotel with Groupon. It was 1st class service. Staff were so helpful and friendly. Had lovely back massage and facial by Emily. Afterwards sat in the garden with sandwiches and prosecco! Wonderful!

What a lovely experience. Very professional but relaxed and friendly staff, who have clearly been well trained. We all had really enjoyable food, especially the steak, the duck and the puddings, and will definitely try the tasting menu next time. This is a hotel restaurant...

Excellent service and good food and comfortable and attractive venue

Went for a spa package, would thoroughly recommend. Myself and my friend had whole area to ourselves (I think this is standard at the moment, hoping they keep it like this) which was wonderful. You need to know there is NO pool but that didn't bother us at all, great Jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. Very polite and helpful staff. Massage and facial was fab. We were also very pleasantly surprised with the glass of prosecco with our tea/coffee and pastries. We will definitely return.

Been here a few times now, they have accommodated our large family gatherings (20 - 50 people) with ease. Beautiful historical building, so spacious inside and spotlessly clean. Very nice hotel. It's a lovely old building. The suite we stayed in was huge, like an apartment, which I could happily live in! Good breakfast though not a buffet so you can't go up and choose your food, you have to order from a menu. I recommend this hotel.

All staff have impeccable manners. They all cannot do enough for you. It is such a special experience staying at The Yarrow and would highly recommend it. Facilities and food are second to none. We will always return.

This is one of the best hotels ive Stayed in The rooms are superb as is the restaurant The choice on the menu is nice and the food is beautifully presented. I certainly recommend The Yarrow and look forward to another visit

Very disappointed - not with our stay, that was lovely .... so much so, I wanted to go back with two friends for a spa break. However, because there are three of us I rang to see if they could accommodate us and to get a price. Was quoted a figure which I then relayed to my friends, agreed and rang the hotel back to book. I was then told it had gone up by £42.50! After thinking about it, I decided to suggest to the hotel if they would meet me in the middle, would they still accept my booking as I had quoted to my friends the figure they had given me initially and now the price had changed just 48 hours later and not by just a few pounds? Management gave me a flat 'no' Out of principle I will now find a different hotel for our spa break. It's a shame as I really liked the hotel and would have given them my returning business.

Not up to the pre-pandemic standard.

The Yarrow Hotel, is a wonderful place to stay and relax. All the staff are amazing and friendly. The Hotel has excellent decor is very clean. The food served in the restaurant is exceptional and great value for money. It is our go to place for a quick get away.

This was our second time The Yarrow so this time we decided to incorporate an overnight stay as well. We opted for the seven course tasting menu with the accompanying wine flight. The choices for each course were excellent and we were not disappointed by...

One of my favourite places to eat

So it was selfcare Saturday .....I took a trip to this little gem. In a seaside town, the fresh air was welcoming. The location is clean and welcoming with fabulous staff. I had the spa to myself as I was booked in for a treatment and due to Coronavirus everything is by appointment...I wasn't complaining 🙃 Great massage by Amy .. sure I was snoring and great service, will be back

Genuinely terrible experience. Served beer from the bottom of the barrel (I had no idea, and there was only a quarter of my pint left when staff replaced it). Don’t order the chicken wings as a starter - I got 5 of the smallest chicken wings I’ve ever seen for £7.50 which is extremely overpriced. Fish and chips for main was rancid - seemed like frozen fish, grey in colour, with cold chips. I’ve heard The Yarrow is normally good, so I can only assume this is an issue arising due to garden dining, but it was honestly the worst dining experience I’ve had in Broadstairs since moving here over a year ago.
