The Modern Boulangerie in Thanet

Absolutely amazing food and venue. If you are in Ramsgate you need to come here and enjoy not only the coffee which is first rate, we had the cappuccino, but food…well it’s all made in house, down to the sauces that go on your bacon butties! You can guess what I had for brunch! It’s also wheelchair accessible, child friendly, and the staff are lovely. The decor is great too, local artwork on the walls, and yes there is free WiFi for those of us who are surgically attached to our technology. On a side note, the building is a real oldie with a lot of history. Once upon a time it was a toy shop, in the 1800’s, then a drapers shop, then becoming a haberdashery’s and it’s final incarnation, this fabulous cafe that sells delicious coffee, cakes and the most amazing focaccia you will ever sink your choppers into. 100/10

Four of us went for lunch on a Monday when it was quite quiet so we were disappointed to wait nearly 40 mins for our sandwiches. I didn’t enjoy my roasted veg sandwich which was mainly radicchio and dill on toasted sourdough which hurt my mouth, my friends didn’t like theirs either. I think my husband fared slightly better with his club sandwich. The staff were very pleasant.

I visit here most weekends with my partner or family. They serve the best scrambled eggs I’ve ever eaten. I just can’t get enough of them. You’ve also got to try the hot chocolate and the absolutely massive cinnamon buns!! Can’t fault it, amazing place x

Found it by having to find another breakfast venue had closed down since we’d last stayed in Ramsgate. And what a find! Quirky place with good atmosphere. Excellent service so long as you realise that they’re busy and prepare everything fresh. The coffee is quite superb. Their baked goods are exceptional. For breakfast on the first morning I had an almond croissant. It was so good I had to have another. I didn’t need to eat for the rest of the day! On the second morning had the pancake stack with bacon and maple syrup. Plentiful and so delicious. I took away a pear and rhubarb Danish pastry to have that afternoon. It didn’t disappoint! This has been a fabulous find and a new favourite for the area.

Best place to eat, beautiful food and the cakes are to die for… very good and friendly service from the staff, second visit now and will return.

Cannot fault in any way at all...coffees.. ( oat milk latte decaf and latte) 10/10 ... Staff so so friendly and attentive and food excellent. Bacon roll ( hubby said best he had ever had ) and marmite and mozerella swirl amazing. Definitely recommend.. lovely setting. A*** , a lovely surprise as only first came in to buy some bread hee hee . We hope to be back tomorrow

Totally delicious food, wonderful chefs and a great welcome. Quiche is yummy, toasties are yummy, cakes are super yummy. And take a loaf of sourdough bread home - You can thank me later 🍞🥐🍥🥪👌

Great flat white and cappuccino but hot chocolate very sweet apparently? Huge nice version of a custard tart plus some lovely takeaway Cornish Yarg cheese and Sourdough Bread. Dry dog friendly too with plenty of seating. Highly recommended for eat-in or takeaway with a good selection of pastries and bread. Please note that the sign say’s closed on Tuesdays.

I do have to give this place a ton of credit; whenever I walk past in the mornings on my way to work I always get a wave and smile from the staff working in the front... So this endeared me to TMB massively. I had a medical appointment on the 16th and felt like I should treat my mum to a treat here (long overdue) but also we've always viewed this as an upmarket (posh) bakery so have always been a bit worried about trying it. There was no need! I asked about gluten free options and was advised they only have one option per day normally; Mondays offering was an opera cake. I tried this as I've never had one of them before, and my mum had a blueberry crumble flapjack. She was a bit un-keen but that's because she doesn't like mascarpone cheese and had forgotten that. The hot chocolate I ordered was divine, just dark enough and bordering on the edge of bitter and creamy; just divine. Mum had a latte but it was a bit too rich for her, bless her. The only reason I gave a four star is I would have adored at least one other food option on the menu for variety's sake but I do totally understand cross contamination and how procedures around that are very difficult. Overall, it was a beautiful visit and I'd love to return.

I’ve written a review before but wanted to write another - last time I struggled to cut and eat the sourdough but today it is much better and I’ve really enjoyed my poached eggs on sourdough, my oatmilk flat white. Thank you TMB, glad I came back.

Took my family out for brunch here this morning, absolutely wonderful food and lovely service. The bacon roll was gorgeous! A huge thank you to the kitchen for the delicious food and the lovely waiter with the glasses for making my day! I shall be taking my husband here next weekend.

Had the 3 cheese toastie with Kiwi chutney..... PERFECTION 🥰 Cafe is simplistic, open and no frills. It works well with the outstanding quality of food. Coffee is very good and portion size it generous and matches the price tag. Highly recommended and will be back.

Best thing of all is service and staff seem very professional. Cappuccino was okay, but the bacon roll was a large crusty roll that people usually have as a lunchtime roll, from supermarkets, with slices of cheese. This made it a lot more difficult and embarrassing to eat, with crumbs going everywhere. Bacon itself was tasty streaky, and well grilled. Quite willing to try again however.

Lovely folks selling and serving delicious food. Sunday breakfast was absolutely fabulous. The staff couldn’t have been more friendly. Beware the Mexican Breakfast. It was BIG and very tasty. Quantity too much for me. Yummmy though.

By far the best pain au chocolate ever in the UK. Coffee was perfect and such efficient and friendly service. Everything cooked on the premises and without doubt we will return.

We really enjoyed our take away food from here; best sausage rolls we have eaten in quite a while, and the large cake desserts did seem like a real taste of a French patisserie. One aspect stopped this being 5 star for us, best saved for a direct message with the owner, if they would like this feedback.

First of all I need to apologise, one can only give you 5 stars when in fact if stars are a measure you deserve all the stars in the night sky. We have been coming to the Modern Boulangerie way before your relocation and we were very impressed ( again ) with today's offering ( see photo ). The company staffing today were a delight to talk to always displaying a " good morning" and a smile. They always give you time to explain what treats today had to offer and I was recommended " please use a spoon at home for ultimate indulgence...and I did and we loved it. The strawberry mixed with the filling and caramel sprinkles danced on the palet. Here's to our next visit

We were on our summer holidays when we discovered The Modern Boulangerie . We visited four times during our break and enjoyed every visit . The staff are lovely and welcoming . Dogs get a warm welcome as well with a bowl of water and a couple of doggy treats. We tasted a lot of the cakes on offer and they were delicious. We purchased some of the breads which like the cakes were different than what we have normally found in a cafe and also delicious. When it came to the day to travel back to Scotland we went in for breakfast we had the scrambled eggs which was delicious. We also bought bread and treats for taking home . We wish we were closer to you as we would visit you regularly. If you’re ever near this cafe go and enjoy the food they have on offer you won’t be disappointed and I’m sure like us you will want to make many return visits . Thank you and we hope one day we will be able to visit you again x
