Really lovely helpful staff, I've been a few times with our 2 young granddaughters, and the staff have helped the girls choose patterns and wools, and helped me with suggestions for actually knitting them. Hot chocolate for the girls and much needed teas for the grownups, (plus brilliant cake) all much appreciated. Thank you so much! P.S. And Jennifer, if you ever fancy a career change..... please try teaching? You have a lovely calm approach with little people 😊

I dashed in to beg help of the knitting sisterhood - they fixed my weird dropped stitch so I can continue my project. It is a charming corner shop with lots of beautiful yarns, tea, coffee, and cakes and lovely very friendly people.

I have been here twice. Both times I have felt as if I was butting into a private conversation. They do not have much yarn either.

So I love this place it’s a small haven for me as I stay in a large house with noisy unknotting people so when I want a break I go and see the lovely’s people who work here and squish all the yarn and smell what’s baking . The owners are friendly and knowledgeable about yarn and if they don’t know something about knitting there is usually someone in that haven that will help, that’s how I learned to knit properly, and this is my 8th year. If you love the great British bake off they also do the technical each week it’s on so go grab yourself a bite with warm company, colourful walls of yarn and dear green coffee that is delicious. Also try the stew if they have it in winter or their homemade lebkuchen.

I am a knitter, so that is what first brought me here. BUT, Antje, the proprietor, is one of the most friendly and helpful I have ever encountered. No one is a stranger here. The shop is small, but has a surprising variety of fabulous yarns. I had cake and tea and knitted until she closed. Antje will sit and chat with customers about all sorts of things. Be prepared to laugh and joke with everyone. Even if you don't knit, you will not feel out of place here, so don't hesitate to bring your non-knitting partner to enjoy the food and setting while you fondle the yarn. Also, Antje is a very knowledgeable knitter and can help you choose yarn and decipher a difficult pattern.

My friend who had been to the Yarn Cake before, took me along for coffee/tea and cake as a first timer! The Yarn Cake in Glasgow's West End, sells high end yarns and knitting patterns/needles etc. You can combine your yarn shopping with a coffee and cake! The owner's husband appears to bake most/many of the cakes and runs the website for the business. Yarn Cake posts its opening times, knitting courses, new yarn products and its varying cake menu selections frequently on Facebook. As a newbie to the Yarn Cake I can recommend it as the wools and the cakes are wonderful !

The shop offers both handmade desserts and locally dyed yarns. We were delighted with the selection and sent pictures to our local knitter for her choices. So, want to sit and knit while enjoying a delicious dessert this is your place to stop and shop. You can also visit the botanical gardens just down the street.

This shop is a gem for knitters. It's unconventional for a wool shop but also has lovely chai latte. Staff friendly and helpful and the other customers were friendly while knitting.

Tucked away just outside the busy West End this little shop/cafe is a gem for knitters, crocheters and those who appreciate great German baking. They have a great selection of yarns, patterns, friendly service and advice, lots of banter and did I mention the baking?

Easily the best coffee in Glasgow. Actually, the best, most coffee-y coffee I've ever had. My partner is a coffee aficionado and we are always on a mission to get a great cup of coffee on our travels and at home, and this is a place we can heartily recommend.

We had a set menu and everything we ate was delicious. Good alcoholic and non alcoholic options. A must is getting some of the snacks with your meal. Beautiful restaurant to sit in and staff helpful with dietary requirements. We will be back to experience the full menu.
