It was lovely to see this is still a welcoming traditional village pub, serving lovely food and drink, at very reasonable prices. The landlady and customers were very friendly and would definitely go again soon.

We often at in the area, but when the busy pub on the main road is full. resort to the Wyndham Arms. The quality of the food is now at best mediocre so just try the basic pub grub pies (if they are not hard overcooked) - and ham and egg chips. We have now become suspicious of the 5 star ‘great super fantastic etc‘ reviews Shame - the pub is welcoming, and bar staff fine We now continue down the road passed the Wyndham to another pub we have found deep in the Devon countryside which is so much better

We have visited this pub once again as we had such a great reception on the last visit from the owner and all the staff - they are so so welcoming, nothing is too much trouble, super friendly and great food ! The pub has a roaring fire on a cold day which we sat next to some months ago, on this occasion on our return visit it was a gorgeous day so we sat outside in the garden terrace, nothing better than cider here on a hot day that's is for sure ! The great girl who had served us earlier came out after 20 minutes to see if we needed refilling !! The owner and the staff made us so welcome, and the food we ordered was lush ! We couldn't fault the service or the pub at all - such a warm reception and the locals were so friendly and welcoming too - thank you everyone at The Wyndham - doing a wonderful job !!

Found this “proper” village pub after a long drive down to Devon from Yorkshire. What was meant to be a quick bite to eat turned into a full evening of food, drinks and entertainment. Landlady and all of the staff we encountered were exceptionally friendly, food was great and good value. Added bonus, we were asked if we wanted to join the weekly quiz night. While we didn’t win, it was a really fun night, obviously everyone else in the pub was local but we were made to feel just as welcome as those who are there every weekend. Would definitely recommend and would revisit if back 8n the area in future.

If you are in this area…please visit the Wyndham Arms. This place is a real reminder of what a community pub should be. Plus they are extremely welcoming to outsiders such as us. We’ve visited a few times over our week holiday in the area and have found amazing people, a lovely welcome and warm atmosphere and also very dog friendly. Food is your pub grub stuff but is absolutely spot on, if you are after haute cuisine have a wander somewhere else…for a real Devon welcome, beers, food, conversation and real people, then come here!! Sharon the landlady and staff are excellent and so friendly. Definitely recommend. If we are ever in the area again we will definitely return.

A grubby grotty pub to avoid at all cost.the food was overcooked and very poor quality.cigarette butts littering the path to the door and a rather drunk ,scruffy man leaning on the wall outside actually spitting onto the flowers outside.on entering as we had been travelling for a few hours and were very hungry,we decided to risk it ,wish we hadn't bothered .the food took ages to arrive ,served by a scruffy woman who clearly has a hygiene problem,we couldn't eat it and as we left a couple of locals started laughing and said to us ,some more suckers leaving as usual.we ended up going to McDonald's which was like Al a carte. compared to that awful pub.needless to say we won't be returning ever.when l turned round and told them l was going to write a review about how bad it was they just laughed and said the landlords get them to write good ones for them in exchange for a couple of points..

Had a great evening in the Wyndham Arms having really good pie’s and fish & chips washed down by local beers and cider. The staff were great, locals friendly (especially as we didn’t win the pub quiz). All in all, a great village with a proper centre (church, pub, and shop), great walks from the village. We’d be very happy to go back.

For us, it has been a treat to experience good old fashioned pub grub! Generous portions, well cooked and very reasonable. It feels like a "proper" pub and you don't get that much anymore! We just wish we lived closer to make it our local but we will definitely be back when we are passing that way!

My husband and I were visiting Kentisbeare for the first time today. We decided to stop at The Wyndham Arms for a quick drink. The pub has an attractive exterior and on arrival the interior was lovely too. We had a friendly and warm welcome (and a welcome from the resident dogs, but we are dog lovers and dog owners so this wasn’t a problem for us!). The pub seemed clean and there was a lovely roaring fire. There were cosy ‘twinkly lights’ round the bar - our drinks were very pleasant, the music was great and there was overall a good, positive and friendly vibe. We look forward to visiting again soon, and trying your food:) Happy New Year and wishing you the very best of luck for 2023 in these trying times x

We ate at the Wyndham this evening as we quite often do. As usual we received a warm welcome from Sharon (the landlady) who took our food order when we were ready. I had the “Texan Burger” and my wife the gammon (if you want to know what aTexan Burger is you will have to go along to the Wyndham to find out). Our food was cooked and served well in a friendly and welcoming pub. We have known this pub for 6 years and it has changed hands several times but Sharon, Roxy and Chevy seem to have it thriving once again. The Wyndham caters for locals and visitors alike offering several real ales alongside a good selection of ciders and lagers etc. It serves traditional pub food and like most country pubs it is dog friendly.

Outside picnic bench seating area to the rear with a flat driveway access & a further raised garden accessible by steps. Friendly, welcoming & professional staff in both the bars and restaurant areas. Wonderful 'community atmosphere' inside the bar areas.Good selection of menu options including 'specials'. The menu catered for options for Coeliacs & Vegetarians. Chose the locally produced & sourced ingredients for the email, ham, with egg, side salad and triple cooked chips. A thoroughly enjoyable, tasty traditional pub evening meal, cooked & served by staff who really understood that good Customer Service is just as important as the meal itself. Staff took time to engage in a brief chat imparting the history of The Wyndham Arms & local area.Understood that the pub would soon be serving 'breakfasts' with lots of options and new ideas for the menu. The sausages, from local butchers, were gorgeous and went well with the crunchy chips. My wife had the special; pork chop, mustard mash and creamy mushrooms. Very generous portions all round and it was all served with friendly and attentive service. Bertie loved it too! My daughter and I eat an evening meal here and it was OK. Limited menu choice and portion size was OK. I'd probably eat at Keepers Cottage though as the value, choice and portion sizes are better.

Well what can’t I say about this pub. From the minute we stepped into this pub we were welcomed from the start. Not just welcomed by the staff but also by the locals. It’s a warm inviting, friendly place and we felt right at home. Would highly recommend a visit to this place

Six of us ate at the Wyndham to try out the new menu and weren’t disappointed. Excellent service from Angie of a great meal and dessert - good to see her back.

11 of us ate here last night, and we ALL thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Some different options- one of us tried the octopus and said it was delicious and cooked well- but all very good. I had monkfish tail with gin sauce, perfectly cooked, with the most unusual tasty rice I've ever tasted. They have a BBQ in the garden, and doing one this lunchtime, so I'm sure it will be lively! They deserve to do really well. Very good service too.

Gavin, who I gather is the temporary manager, made us most welcome and gave good banter. Friendly efficient bar staff, interesting dishes on the menu (scrumptious chicken risotto) with prices to suit all budgets. Chef came out to check all good and also good banter. This is a pubby pub and has lost nothing of its old charm by being ‘re-fitted’. Just park in the car park for the village hall and walk down next to the church.

Very nice food, I had the Rib Eye Steak and wife had the rack of ribs. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff especially the chef and his wife who run the pub. Drinks a bit pricey for the area hence the 4 rather than a 5.

We decided to pull of the main road for some lunch. This pub was advertised on the road. They were doing roast dinner but on hearing that my sister is intolerant to alot of food and that my children didnt want a roast they made us up some special lunch. It came out swiftly and was lovely food. Not only that the service was amazing, the staff were friendly and happy to be there.

We visited here on Saturday 28th April when dropping our daughter back to Exeter University. We were made very welcome by the staff. The food was exceptional and the portion sizes large. Mr H had fish and chips and the fish was virtually hanging over the sides of the plate. We will definitely be back

We called ahead before descending on the Wyndham Arms as there were 10 of us and we wanted to be sure they could seat us and cater for us. When we arrived we couldn't have been made to feel more welcome. The children were prioritised so that they were not waiting too long for their food. We were "criticised" for telling the 4 children in our group to be quiet and we're told by the chef that this is a family pub, not a library. The atmosphere was warm and cosy, the food was fabulous and very reasonably priced. We would definitely recommend this pub and look forward to our next visit. Both family and dog friendly. Thank you Wyndham Arms, you were awesome!

We are locals, and were here for lunch on a winter weekday. The dining room is rather ordinary, separate from the "pub," and lacking atmosphere. The service was exemplary, definitely as good as it gets. The food was unexceptional -- generous portions, but lacking any distinctive attributes. And we were quite unprepared for the bill, which was considerably higher than other pubs in the area for similar meals.

I believe that this pub / restaurant had recently been taken over. We received a lovely warm welcome on a busy Saturday night. The menu was different but with something for everyone, and very well priced. The food was absolutely delicious and the service, all by one, sometimes two, very hard working staff was excellent. I can only thoroughly recommend.

Visited last Saturday for lunch as a group of 5. Lovely welcoming pub with plenty of restaurant tables off to the back (tables in the courtyard for the summer too). Parking outside was easy, but village hall car park looks to be only a very short walk.
