Proper pub! Need I say more? Yes, Willow was great. I loved her philosophy on what a pub should offer, and I loved the Crew at the table which I was invited to join. Willow is reviving the lost art of traditional English pub hospitality. Single- handedly as far as I can see! Can’t wait to return. Andy

So great to have the Windy back and full of life - nothing beats a long dog walk and coming into the pub with roaring fires, local ales and ciders and a big ol' pork pie waiting PLUS a ton of friendly faces. Currently just a wet pub, but a few tasty bar snacks available and plenty of cute dogs to snuffle up the crumbs. Missed this pub so much and just over the moon to have it back! If you have a big car be careful of the turn into the carpark - judging by the paint scuffs, there has been more than a few scratches 🤣

Our party of 4 adults and 1 toddler had a lovely lunchtime meal here out in the beer garden. The menu catered really well for dietary restrictions; I was particularly impressed and heartened that many of the tapas dishes were suitable for a low-carbohydrate diet, as well as being gluten-free. When 17 of us (including children) arrived without warning, this bank holiday weekend, Tracey and the team did the very best to make sure we were warmly welcomed and looked after. Yes, we had a bit of fun with the orders but as it worked out we all had a lovely chilled afternoon with some great tapas style food (cheesy chips for the kids) and a couple of ciders, before our walk back to the campsite. Lovely looking country pub, but attitude stinks. Al we wanted was a pub lunch, something traditional, but they looked own there noses at us because the kids wanted chips and all they would do was fancy stuff. The Indian just along the road was much friendlier, they were happy to do goujons and chips and no attitude. We will not go back to the Windham though.

Never actually got to eat here. We were camping nearby and booked for two lunches, Monday and Wednesday of Eat out to help out deal. Pub called to cancel with a week to go. Said chef was overwhelmed and couldn't cope so was cancelling all bookings for that week. Fair enough at least we got some notice. Towards the end of the week we noticed they were cooking again. Rang up to check, booked in for that evening told we could come before 7pm or after 7.30. Went for 6.30 and booked. Then messaged back a couple of hours later to be told chef couldn't cope, they were overwhelmed again and we were cancelled. That's three cancellations in a week. We have been in for drinks earlier in the week. They seem friendly enough and nice choice of beers and local cider but need to seriously address the kitchen issues.

Wanted to find a local serving a good honest Sunday dinner after 2pm.Pub staff were polite and punters friendly. Sunday dinner however was more of a dog's dinner. That's if your dog is a vegetarian or the cow your eating a rather fat one!I had the beef which came with a giant yorkie pud hiding a stuffing slice and two tatoes with lots of gravy.I use the term beef loosely, as there was little meat hidden under the gravy just lots of slices of sinewy fat!We were eating after two but if the beef had left early I'm sure the chef who carved it knew when plating up!They definitely knew after I'd eaten. The polite waitress asked how it was. I replied I couldn't say as to the meat as didn't get any, as evidence by the fatburg left on the plate.I added next time I'd go for the vegetarian as that's what I got for £12.95 excluding drink.Neither good pub grub or honest description of Sunday Dinner - More like dog's dinner minus the meat! A pleasant young waiter came out with the cutery and what only seemed like minutes later our food arrived on piping hot plates. Plenty of meat and gravy, roasties, stuffing and a yorkshire plus a large dish of veggies - carrots, red cabbage, broccoli and cauliflower in a cream sauce.Food was delicious. The menu is not expensive for decent food and there is a range of tastes and prices to suit most pockets. The pies are delicious (we have revisited twice just for the pies) and our daughter recently enjoyed the herb cakes which she loved. We love the fact this it is a "pub that serves food" and not a "restaurant pretending to be a pub", which sadly lack character and locals drinking. I’ve visited the area a few times now with friends, family and girlfriend. I have also been to other pubs in the area and can say that this pub has everything. This is by far my favourite pub in the whole of Somerset. For me what does it is the varied components brought together to make it such a lovely place. At certain hours, if you fancy a quiet pint; it has it. If you fancy meeting the locals who come for a pint after work; it has it. If you fancy some decent grub at fair prices, it has it! To be honest, we weren't sure what to expect as we haven't been the Wyndham Arms since the new owners took over, but contrary to what we had been hearing, we were made to feel welcome by the manager and later on by the Scott and Elizabeth, the owners and the locals that were in there at the time. We were there on a Sunday evening so there was no food being served (it seems you can't get anything to eat on a Sunday evening anywhere in the area), so I can't comment on the food, but the Sunday roast certainly looked like good value, (Sirloin beef, giant Yorkshire pudding, crispy roast potatoes and vegetables for £11 or £7). However, we love real ale and real cider and the ale was in lovely condition and there was a lovely choice of real cider, so we were happy!

Just moved to the village although have lived nearby for many years. Went in last night and had a really good meal. There was plenty to choose from (so don’t understand the previous reviewers comments) Double sided menu plus a specials board.

This has been our local for the last fourteen years. We went today for lunch. It has recently changed hands. At first all was well. Now, however, the only real ale on offer was either golden or stuff I wouldn’t touch with a barge pole. We looked at the new menu. Complete change. There wasn’t a single thing on the menu I could or would eat. The only steak on offer was rib eye at £22 and all the other prices had gone up too. No pub grub just restaurant type stuff at inflated prices. We did not even sit down but immediately left. Why do landlords do this? Not the best way to keep loyal customers.

We had dinner for 15 of us between Christmas and New Year 2017. They set aside an area for us which was great. Good pub grub, we had the best night as they had a guy there singing and playing the guitar which made the evening for our Aussie cousins..

Table of five. Three of us ate the roast. Found it adequate but smothered in gravy when it was put out. Bar service slow as it was busy and only one person serving. Was disappointed when we tried to get a coffee to be told no the kitchen is now closed. It was only 15.30hrs.

Whilst visiting friends in the area we had a meal here. Not only was the food wonderful, but the pricing reasonable as well. Most of all though was the wonderful atmosphere of a genuine English pub rather than the mock designer style so prevalent these days. Please don't change!

What an absolutely fantastic meal we were fortunate enough to enjoy. Pork steak melted in my mouth Andy the veg were cooked just how I like them. A very pleasant lady called Sally came and introduced herself to us. She was the chef that evening and there were certainly no complaints from our party of four. Good , high end Pub Food. A pot of good at the end of the rainbow. Please don't lose any of your charm.

my wife and i took our daughter and her 3 children for a pub sunday lunch,to celebate my wifes birthday. we have been to the Wyndham arms many times, so we knew what to expect. we all chose a roast meal, which was as good as expected, served quickly and an excellent choice of vegetables, and gorgeous giant yorkshires, even our youngest, who chose cheesy chips had a yorkshire on top..Delicious beef,or pork or lamb,or a mixture of all,a meal to die for,and excellent real ale ,to wash it down.

Very friendly landlord and lovely food. And allowed to take our dog in with us. My partner says it is the best Steak & Ale Pie he has ever eaten, generously full of meat. Similarly, my chicken and mushroom lasagne didn't stinge on the chicken. My only complaint is that my white wine, Pinot Grigio, tasted stale - like it had been open for a few days. I was too tired to question it so can't tell you what reply I would have received or what they would have done about it - opened a new bottle? Also, on asking what the Somerset Cheese Platter consisted of, we were told 'Stilton, Cheddar and Brie' which didn't seem very Somerset-y, unless of course the Stilton was local - I know you can get Somerset Brie and Cheddar is nearby - but it would have been good if there had been some local goat/sheep's cheeses or just a different cow's one on the list.

This was our second visit to the Wyndham Arms. We again found the staff and atmosphere very friendly and welcoming. We had our dog with us which I thought might be a problem but far from it the lovely lady behind the bar even gave him a biscuit.

Staff were amazing for my gluten allergy! We let them know ahead of time and when we sat they reconfirmed the allergy explained that mostly everything on the menu is or adapted to gluten free and it was luxury to have a wide range of gf desserts when I’m used to only having one boring option. Even got gf bread whilst we waited for our food which I never usually am able to get. If you have an allergy they will 100% look after you and reconfirm every dish to be allergy free as they give it to you. Food was incredible a real treat to have something so luxurious and local to us.

We had lunch here with another couple last week and the food was exceptionally good. The staff were lovely, friendly, efficient and helpful. The pub itself is nicely decorated, very clean and had a great feel to it. I was honestly pleasantly surprised by how good the whole visit was as hadn’t been here before. I would definitely recommend the food and we will be going back soon.
