Absolutely delicious meal at Osip on Sunday... Couldn't fault it to be honest.. every course was spot on in seasoning and taste. The only shame is that the kitchen enjoys the best views across the fields but, when they're turning out such lovely food, you have to give them that!

We had an outstanding meal at the new venue (parking now easy on site). The food has stepped up a level since moving and we both loved every single element of the food (and wine pairing), including the charming service and new surroundings. We previously compared Osip to Chelsea's The Five Fields, a fellow Michelin starred restaurant - but we think our latest visit to Osip even more memorable. Highly recommended.

Had a rather disappointing experience at the new OSIP restaurant in Hardway. It was a warm welcome with mini snacks and drinks by the fire. The food was excellent - creative and colourful with interesting textures and flavours. The staff were welcoming, attentive and enthusiastic throughout the many courses. But unlike the other positive review, we were given a table in a back area that was detached from the rest of the restaurant. It was cold due to ventilation for the kitchen and the area was a thoroughfare for used tableware being taken to the washing up area. Unlike the main restaurant, there was no ambience, no vista and the dining experience left us feeling rather ripped off!! I am sorry but when you pay £350+ with wine, you expect a premium dining experience and it is disappointing that they use this back area for premium cuisine. The poor dining experience outweighed the excellent cooking and service. Request a table in the main restaurant if you want to sample the cuisine.

As others have commented, the food is quite underwhelming. It’s good enough but there simply is no ‘Wow’ factor. Not once. And when the bill for two people with little alcohol is north of £350, then the memory of the experience is more ‘Ouch’ than anything else. For those who know Menu Gordon Jones in Bath, the comparison is that if MGJ is a 10/10 (and it always is), then overall, Osip scores 6/10. And really I would have expected so much more.

Every dish is such an artwork, so creative and impeccably thought out, even down to the plates that it’s served on. The flavours of the food (we had the summer tasting menu) are what I would say a perfect early summers day tastes like. The staff are so friendly and sweet and very professional. Loved most of the 8 courses but the pork main did not work as I had a big piece of fat in it and the meat was not that tender. Also missing the crackling that surely is the best part of pork!. Would not have the wine pairing here again as the wine chosen to go with the lovely pistachio desert just did not go as it was far too sweet . Also the price at £80.00 each for 5 small glasses did not represent value for money

Smallish, well rated, well located and stylish restaurant. Given it's Michelin status, booking is advisable. The menu is a surprise and changes regularly. Nevertheless, expectations are always high from such a restaurant, and I was left underwhelmed. They do try to push a few 'extras'. While it was a pleasant experience, I will not go there again.

This was one of the most outstanding meals I’ve ever eaten. From hedgerow to plate, every single item was exquisitely crafted using locally foraged and sourced food. Flavours that shouldn’t necessarily work danced across one’s tongue and brought a resounding smile to one’s face and an involuntary groan of pleasure. It was abundantly obvious how much love and craft went into every single dish of the hidden menu. The service was also perfect. Milo guided us through every dish with knowledge and gusto. Outstanding! In our top three tasting menus of all time. Lovely setting and friendly service. All the dishes looked, smelt and tasted superb. They were very accommodating with our request for no nuts, they also offer a vegan and vegetarian tasting menu. Really enjoyed the fact they serve what is in season so the menu is not fixed, and you get a copy at the end. All the dishes are explained really well when they come out. The timing between courses is perfect. There is street parking but it has a 2 hour limit, and as the tasting menu takes around 2 hours to serve, it might be worth looking for a car park that allows more time, as it’s a lovely walk around the venue location. Plus we would have loved a coffee as it smelt like it was excellent quality but had to get back to the car. We will definitely be returning! Thanks Team Osip for a very memorable meal.

Osip heavily relies on its location to compensate for a rather underwhelming dining experience. Without its well heeled location, it's doubtful they would have the audacity to charge what they do. The food itself was underwhelming, and the portion sizes left much to be desired. It's disheartening to be served such minuscule portions, and to make matters worse, the bread offering felt more like a filler rather than a course. Adding insult to injury was the audacity to charge an additional £30 for a cheese course that consisted of a mere mouthful of brie, on a sliver of toast. The whey foam with the pasta course was just not enjoyable and remained untouched. It simply did not work well in the dish. We were also disappointed with some of the wines provided. Two of them were downright unpleasant, and just were not right. The wine pairing arrived a good 10 minutes before each course, which disrupted the overall flow of the meal. When I raised this concern afterwards, I was met with the response that there had been no issues with the service—clearly, not from their perspective. I politely emailed my concerns, hoping for a thoughtful response. However, my feedback was entirely ignored, and I was simply told that they were perfectly content with their current approach. Their dismissive attitude only reinforced the perception of the Emperor's New Clothes effect, where criticism is brushed off and flaws are overlooked. Overall, my experience at Osip was underwhelming, with disappointing food portions, unsatisfactory wine choices, and a lack of responsiveness to customer feedback. The most disappointing dining experience we have ever had, and I advise to try other options for a special occasion. (unless you are on a diet- then portions are great)

We booked this restaurant and chose the tasting menu. When we arrived, we asked if we could select the shorter of the two tasting menus, but were told we had to have the longer menu. The dishes were perfectly cooked, very well presented and the service was great. A number of the dishes felt quite confused, with different elements not working particularly well with others. Unfortunately, we couldn't finish the final three courses, hence trying to select the shorter menu. What a waste!

An absolutely delicious dinner. We decided to select own our wines as with a large group it enabled us to enjoy a good variety by the bottle over all the courses. Service was informed, relaxed but tightly delivered. A few minor blips around water, but nothing of concern. Incredible complexity of execution and depth of flavours, presented beautifully make for a very special restaurant… a meal to remember. Interior is minimal with a few books to add to the decor: country modernism in a beautiful old building. If you’re in the area, make sure you go, it’s not to be missed.

Clearly an example of an establishment that has striven to gain a Michelin star as quickly as possible, simply to hike prices. The food although i'm sure full of technique, catered to the tastes of the chef and personal exploration of flavors rather than to the experience of the customer. A very sad and selfish (chef-centered) dining experience was the result of our visit - considering that the customers are the ones footing the expensive bill i'd rethink the menu.

Whenever we holiday in this country we try to find a Michelin Star Restaurant as part of our treat so have been to several. Osip is a strange mixture of formal and informal - unplastered painted brick walls and kitchen type chairs but beautiful linen napkins, which was nice. There is no menu, just a choice of two tasting menus, one longer than the other, which we knew when we booked. I am fish eating veggie, so this was fine by me and the restaurant asks for any likes/dislikes beforehand (my husband doesn't like beetroot) and this was remembered and an alternative was produced as necessary. Courgettes seemed to figure largely in various guises. When it came to the course with lobster, you really needed to hunt for the fish! One thing that really made us laugh (we are in our 70s so don't feel intimidated in these sorts of restaurants) was when the waiter put a little gold coloured "stone" on the table for the blade of the knife to sit on! The handles are round, especially made for Osip from oak and the blades were engraved to tell us so! Apparently the blade had to sit on the "stone" to prevent it from rolling! Pretentious or what? Obviously, the dishes were tiny and we did not leave hungry but our overwhelming feeling was the whole experience began to get boring, many dishe sseemed samey. I had a glass of fizz and one of rose, both reasonably priced but neither was chilled enough. Over all, pretentious with a capital P and eyewateringly expensive. A few weeks ago we were in Bury St Edmunds, if you are ever that way, please try Pea Porridge (also Michelin star) if you want a super meal at half the price.

For one star I thought it was underwhelming. The service was great but the food was mediocre. All the dishes apart from the “snacks” - raw veggies from the garden, the beetroot taco and the dessert were all a bit too heavily salted. I gave up on the broad bean and pea dish half way because I found it unpleasantly salty. The chilled courgette soup was very fishy because of the the raw lobster bits in it. I thought it would’ve been better without the lobster. The BBQ chicken main course was tasty but again very salty and the BBQ sauce overpowering - I couldn’t taste the small amount of truffles on the chicken. And if I am honest the dark meat of the chicken was a bit chewy. The use of garden herbs was also heavy-handed. Some herbs left a very long-lasting taste on my palate. The only dish I truly enjoyed was the beetroot taco. I thought the taco was fresh and the beetroot was incredibly aromatic and tasty. The seasoning was balanced. Overall considering the ingredients and the execution at £230+ per head (tasting menu + wine pairing) it was not the great value for money.

It was by no means a bad meal but we left feeling incredibly underwhelmed - particularly as it cost nearly £300 for 2 people for lunch with no alcohol. First course - a solitary croquette with a radish and a turnip. A bread course. A ricotta gnudi. A small delectable soup. A 2 bite beetroot taco. And an enjoyable couple of mouthfuls of chicken to finish with a tiny side salad to split between 2 people. The highlight of the dessert was a rocket ice cream. The 9 course tasting menu (which included an extra cheese course) left you satisfied but not over full. This restaurant is already mentioned in the Michelin Guide but deserves more recognition.

"Root vegetable tea with burnt garlic oil" was the stand-out of the no-choice menu: a fabulously rich and deeply-flavoured broth, obviously made with great patience and skill. As for the rest, it was a bit of a joke. "Venison, beetroot mole and pickled elderberries": was a sliver of rather dry meat the size of two postage stamps that was too small to be able to taste. Sticking up out of the other sparse components were two square-inch pieces of lettuce. (They must make one lettuce provide for at least one whole service). The biggest laugh was when they brought the dessert: I did a double-take, not aware that I had had a main course. The "wine flight" comprised only two wines - ("If you want wine with the amuse-bouche you'll have to order something extra") - plus a Somerset "ice cider", a not very inspiring attempt to do for the apple what eiswein does for the grape. The two wines - really exciting this - were a Riesling and a Chateauneuf-du-Pape. Service, by young staff, was practiced and efficient. The long, narrow room is rather nondescript. What a shame that the mastery shown in the root vegetable tea emerged nowhere else in the lunch, which otherwise tended to blandness and felt pinched and mean. If you think restaurants are about warmth, sensory gratification and generosity, look elsewhere.

Superb evening. Hugely knowledgeable staff, warm and friendly. The talent of the young team, just exceptional. Super interesting, delicious, beautifully crafted food. Wine list my kind of size, budget and taste. I would highly recommend for a special trip.

Some bright spork has decided to let dogs into the dining room. I have two dogs myself but I don't expect to share my Michelin star dining experience with dogs. A farting dog does not go well with dinner and as I said, some bright spark! What are you thinking? Not for me, never again.

Was refused a reservation here as they said they don’t accept children under 9. Which is fair enough. HOWEVER an influencer that I follow was able to go here with her 6month old!!!! I can’t stand the double standards for these “celebrities”

We we’re staying near by at the amazing Newt hotel and got recommended Osip. One of the best tips I’ve had for a restaurant. It’s pretty unique in that you don’t know what you’re going to be served in the 9 course tasting menu! However...

We went for dinner at Osip and had the menu and wine pairing. Interesting flavours especially the black tea broth and the congee. Tiny portions, even for a Michelin. Interesting wines, though fairly young and not complex enough. Some elements like wild garlic, while in season were used too much, almost in half the menu. Tentative and relaxed staff. Overall a pleasant experience as a treat but totally not worth the price. Only go if you have about £200pp to blow without remorse.

It’s unfortunate that there is no rating of six stars. Everything and I mean everything was perfect. The ambience, the staff, the decor, the cutlery, the crockery, the seating and the unobtrusive music. All the plaudits are correct - this place is outstanding in every...

My husband and I had the tasting menu (pescatarian) here for our tenth anniversary and the entire experience was perfect. The service was impeccable (without being stuffy or staid) and I can’t even describe how incredible the food was - seasonal, local, mind-blowing. How do you make a leek taste so good? How is that root vegetable tea the best thing I’ve ever had in my life? Such a special restaurant for a special occasion (or any time if you’re loaded), we’re excited to try the lunch menu in the future.

Truly memorable. The food is first class: imaginative, seasonal, balanced, beautifully presented and original. Each bite was a masterpiece of taste and texture. In my view portions were spot on and the menu taken as a whole worked really well - certainly not too rich...

The food was incredible. We have had a few high end meals and this is the third Michelin star restaurant we've been to and the food at Osip is very different to food we have had elsewhere. We loved that we got to experience dishes and combinations we had never come across before. We particularly loved the black garlic and Jerusalem artichoke, the pumpkin sorbet and the broth that came with the bread course. The interior is beautiful and all the crockery our food came on was 'instagram perfect'. However we felt the service and atmosphere was cold and almost unfriendly. It is the first time I have felt out of place at a high end restaurant and there did not seem to be the same love from the people explaining the dishes and wines as at other places. Such a shame for food and a cost venue that deserves warmth and guests to feel comfortable.

Proper pub! Need I say more? Yes, Willow was great. I loved her philosophy on what a pub should offer, and I loved the Crew at the table which I was invited to join. Willow is reviving the lost art of traditional English pub hospitality. Single- handedly as far as I can see! Can’t wait to return. Andy

Staff were amazing for my gluten allergy! We let them know ahead of time and when we sat they reconfirmed the allergy explained that mostly everything on the menu is or adapted to gluten free and it was luxury to have a wide range of gf desserts when I’m used to only having one boring option. Even got gf bread whilst we waited for our food which I never usually am able to get. If you have an allergy they will 100% look after you and reconfirm every dish to be allergy free as they give it to you. Food was incredible a real treat to have something so luxurious and local to us.

We had lunch here with another couple last week and the food was exceptionally good. The staff were lovely, friendly, efficient and helpful. The pub itself is nicely decorated, very clean and had a great feel to it. I was honestly pleasantly surprised by how good the whole visit was as hadn’t been here before. I would definitely recommend the food and we will be going back soon.
