Had our first visit to the Smugglers the night before to watch a great band. Loved the look and feel of the pub too. Thought we'd give the Sunday roast a try. It was delicious! Everything cooked well and plenty of gravy. The best roasties I've had in a long time with a hint of garlic and herb. Good value for money, we had the standard size and were stuffed. We'll definitely be back

We went for a lovely Sunday roast, but no it was the worst roast dinner we’ve ever had in our lives, the roast potatoes tasted like they had been cooked in dish water & the rest tasted of cloves, we both left most of the food & to top it off we both had dodgey tummies. The only positive thing we can say is that all the vegetables were fresh & not frozen.

We ordered scampi and chips and a classic chicken ( bootleg burger ) we were served in record time . And when we started to eat the meal we realised why they were so quick . The chips were cold and tough on both meals and the chicken was cold and half raw . We sent the meals back and they “ recooked the chicken and chips . When they came back the peas with scampi were cold ( not been reheated ) and the chicken was still cold . We sent the chicken burger meal back and had it replaced completely . If you send a meal back surely the least you expect is for it to be replaced not recooked .apparently they have a new chef , makes me wonder what he did previously , because it could not have been anything to do with prepping food . This is the worse meal we have ever had and we will never come back again .

Impression of good atmosphere upon arrival. The waitress looks at me with a huff when I politely ask to wipe the sticky table before setting down our plates. I ask if there is a children's menu. The burger is the same size as the adult, except that it's just 2 slices of bread with the steak in the middle (cheese we forget 🤔) Please, we shared our meal, poor people... In short, we weren't welcome 😅

Had a lovely meal with daughter's & grandchildren, I was especially pleased, being a Coeliac, to read on the menu what was Gluten Free. I had delicious Halloumi fries, a sweet chilli dip, home-made coleslaw for starters followed by mussels with crispy G/F fries. The liquid with the mussels was spot on, gorgeous. Our table was for 12 people, and the evening started well - a friendly welcome and a good atmosphere in the pub. Nine of our party were happy with their meals but three people sent their food back untouched (a burnt pizza and two bone-dry curries). The reaction from the kitchen was as surprising as it was disappointing. The chef refused to replace the meals, and advised that the customers would have to pay for the meals sent back. That's unheard of in my experience. Luckily the helpful head waitress saved the day by talking again to the chef, who apparently was in charge for the night. The place needs to invest in some customer training for the chef - don't expect top-draw food.

The pub was shut Easter Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday and more staff have left. The landlord is not helping himself by posting on his Facebook page the amount of people he has barred. This has got around Weymouth and the gossip has started and he is finding it very hard to get staff. Lots of locals have taken their custom elsewhere. If you are thinking of going to the pub phone to confirm they are open to save any disappointment. If you look on the pubs Facebook page you will see pictures of food these are all old postings from the previous landlord and to date, they are not doing food.

What an amazing chip shop. It may only be a tiny shop but they certainly know how to cook an amazing fish & chips.Everything was freshly cooked. The battery was thin but so crisp & not at all greasy. The mushy peas were amazing & the chips wonderful & the portion seemed to have the scraps of batter that we used to ask for when I was a kid. We ate in because it was chilly/windy. The staff were really pleasant.
