First class service staff excellent

Fish not that big over £30 meal for 2 of us takeaway price but seated to eat ,Inc tea in paper cup think the t bag was shared between the to cups for £2 each/ so 4 quid a bit steep,was weak .and mushy oeas

Went for fish and chips. believe me you have to pay chips and fish separate. It comes to around 14 pounds. slow service. expensive food and not worth it. im pretty sure they served us store-bought fish cakes. pathetic

£36+ for 2 fish and Chips two small battered sausage and a large curry sauce. He didn't explain what separate means. Me and my gf both British and live in Wiltshire both thought he meant we wanted our f&c separate as he said he will put it together. So, we had our fish separate, our chips separate and our sausage separate. No salt and vinegar on the fish. We were not offered any. Nor for the sausage. I asked for extra salt and vinegar on the chips. Totally tasteless. Was looking forward as been really disciplined in my food take. No flavour. Chips were crap. Fish was over done and small. Curry sauce was nice. Sausage were ok. Would not recommend. Not only on price but product and service. Guy serving didn’t crack a smile or chat. We were the only ones there in the takeaway part and we were kept waiting. Ketchup was £0.59 per sachet. Joke place. Don’t waste your money.

Located on a corner opposite the beach, ideal spot for a chip shop. Friendly set of chaps were working when we visited, very helpful, swift service and very polite. Nice and clean restaurant area to eat in, or takeaway, the choice was yours. Because it's in an obvious tourist spot you will have to fork out tourist prices, but to be fair the portion sizes were generous and the quality was high, so it didn't feel excessive in price. Well worth a visit, I know I'll happily grab some more for the trip home again next time we are down dipping our toes in the sea.

Bloody expensive take-away fish & chips - £13.50 + extra for Tom sauce!! Nothing special for that price & the chips were very ‘bitty’ with hard shards of over cooked potato. I’d go elsewhere if I were you,,, I won’t be returning.. Rip-off Britain at its finest!!

Definitely recommend this place, amazing chips and portion size, I happened to go on a busy motorbike night but service was friendly and fairly quick

So we choose to eat here and get a takeaway during our stay in weymouth. After deciding to get a large fish and chips to share. We got there to be told on the busiest day of the week Saturday that they had no large fish only standard. Which suprise suprise was more of a mini fish and therefore had to get two and therefore cost us more money. So we paid £19.80 something for what really was just a large fish. Absolute rip off they do whatever makes more money for them. Wouldn't eat here again as food wad only ok, I've had better.

We tried this fish and chips take away place and loved it. The fish was very good. Large, and tasty. Lovely big flakes of cod. The batter to fish ratio was very good. Great curry sauce too. Our portions of chips were enormous. One large chips is big enough for four adults.

Chips a bit bland and fish wasn't great. It was freshly cooked though.

We were served just before closing on Easter Sunday and the chips were hot and plentiful.. only knocked down as the portion was made up of mainly little crispy bits not many what I would call proper chips.. but give it a visit

Expensive! £4 for a saveloy that literally had no flavour wasn't even edible, £9 for a bit of fish about 8cm long 3cm wide (was tasty but tiny) have to walk outside and back in separate doors to order, waiting staff couldn't speak English so had no idea what we was asking him, 59p for a sachet of sauce. Really underwhelming, very disappointed used to be a place we visited every holiday, never again. £6 for frozen nuggets not even proper nuggets!

Crap! Ordered a large cod and chips. They served me two wafer thing small cods as a replacement. I assumed this was the way the severed large cod but on the way out saw another customer with a true large cod with decent meat. Gutted!

We previously ate here and the food was average. Tried to eat here a second time during our holiday, mostly for convenience as we had a toddler with us. Unfortunately the staff were extremely inflexible when seating a larger group (of seven) and made us feel very unwelcome. Due to this we chose to leave and went to Bennetts fish and chips in the harbour. This was in fact a blessing as the food was far superior and it had a much friendlier atmosphere.

Great chippy, great service and dog friendly

I come from out of town for sea swims a couple of times a month and it’s taken over as my goto spot. Why? Well, right off the bat I love the staff, they’re all amazing. They smile and make the effort no matter how busy it gets. It’s right by the beach, that’s definitely a plus. Salt and vinegar at each table, so no more waiting like a lost pup at the counter waiting to ask for more of it, just add whatever you feel like. That for me is a huge plus. And of course the food has always been a joy to eat. Some days are better than others but there’s never been a bad one. Honestly, some people expect the world wherever they visit, but do remember that these guys will do their best under all circumstances to bring you a genuinely good feed with a genuine good feel. And that’s why I always visit when I’m Weymouth.

Mothers Day treat, definitely the best Fish & Chips in the area, will definitely be back. And I must say they have the cleanest toilets I've seen for a long time.

We were lucky enough to have the place to ourselves, on a Thursday afternoon. Lovely fresh fish and chips. Dog friendly too. Brilliant.

We visited in a wet and windy Feb with the dog, not sure if dog friendly but were welcomed in. The best fish and chips I’ve had in ages, and Lenny-dog loved his sausage. The toilets were immaculately clean, restaurant the same. Will absolutely return.

Fish was fantastic. Experience with computer terminals to order, disposable cups and cutlery and lack of table service made the atmosphere more like a fast food restaurant and was disappointing given the potential of this location.

On a cold blustery day this fish and chips shop was a great place to turn and I enjoyed a great Halibut and chips. A super large halibut. The young waiter was great and the food and drink were good

I used to manage fish and chip shops, and was a fish & chip shop of the year winner. I have to say that the meal we had here was very good indeed. Both the Cod and the chips cooked fresh to order with a light non greasy batter. Not the cheapest but this is very good so worth the money I think. Being from the trade I don’t have that fresh caught in the sea mentality as I know full well it comes from the same source my fish always came from. Very good though and I will definitely come here again for lunch

As you can see from the photos a fish and chips that are light yellow means the oil is fresh. Dirty the oil - darker the fish and chips . Excellent portion sizes and price , fresh and hot

The first time I visited king Edwards was in 1960ish when me and my mates took our bikes to Weymouth . The fish and chips were good then and as good now. The shopfront is identical.

Had a late lunch yesterday so only a few others in. Ate take away in the restaurant. Freshly cooked cod and chips for each of us and could not fault it, big portions perfectly cooked with beautiful white cod in a lovely thin crispy batter. Guy serving us very helpful and polite. Thoroughly recommend.

I recently visited this fish and chip shop with my parents, hoping for a delightful meal, but unfortunately, it turned out to be a disappointing experience. We ordered the full fish and chip supper, and to my shock, it was the most disgusting fish and chips I’ve ever tasted. The fish batter was a dark brown colour, which raised immediate concerns about the freshness of the oil used for frying. It had an unappetising appearance and, regrettably, the taste didn’t improve my impression. The fish itself lacked flavour and was far from the crispy, golden delight one would expect from a traditional fish and chip shop. Given this experience, I cannot recommend this establishment. There are definitely much better options available in Weymouth that offer delicious and well-prepared fish and chips. It's not a Weymouth trip without visiting here. The staff are lovely, it's the best fish and chips nationally (in my opinion) and prices aren't ludicrously expensive for a seaside restaurant

We had a delicious cod-and-chips takeaway which we ate overlooking the beach. We were very glad of our choice of chippie, and will be happy to go back.

Visiting Weymouth for the weekend and literally the best chips I’ve ever had. Really good service. Highly recommend.

Only the takeaway was open but they allowed us to sit in the restaurant area to eat. We had cod,plaice and haddock and all were exceptional and enough chips for a small army. Both the chips and batter were crispy and not greasy so a fabulous lunch was had.

Since covid, they closed the sit-down area but now it's reopened, you have to order at the takeaway, go outside then come back in via a different door. It's ridiculous. The foods great and the lads on the fryers are OK.

Reasonable price for fish and chips and a lot of food

Came across King Edwards when I first visited Weymouth for a week with my two small boys in 2019. Was impressed with the take-away so before we left, we dined in the restaurant section. Good enough for me and the lads to want to come back. Had a banging Cod, scampi and chips. We make this out usual, nothing else. Have been back in 2020, 2022, 2023 but only take-away service. Only last week did i decide to cycle from Southampton to Weymouth with the aim of getting to Weymouth to have my usual before heading back to London on the train. Once again, had a banging cod and chips. Bottom line is if you haven't tried King Edwards, go try it. you might just want to keep going back when you can.

Chips seem to be of a gray like colour and says gluten free yet theirs batter in the box aswell, so totally contaminated.

Had a portion of chips were told these were gluten free as I have coeliac disease to find endless amounts of batter in with the chips. Chips also had a horrible colour to them as if the potatoes were badly bruised before frying. Will never get food from here again when it could out someone with allergies in hospital!

Loved the food, the portions were excellent Not just the fish, but the chips were lovely too Sat in with our takeaway boxes and wooden cutlery, because no table service available (don't know if this is normal here) The 2 young girls keeping things clean were on the spot and doing an excellent service at keeping things clean, even picking up dropped things and sweeping throughly under tables between customers- well done If ever I'm in Weymouth again, I will definitely go here

Amazing sea front fishing chips

After having an absolutely awful experience at a restaurant the night before we tried this place and we were so happy we did Food came in faster than i could sit down from ordering, lovely staff and the food was 10/10! The portion sizes were great, really cant fault this place and we will be back tomorrow 🤣

Lovely white cod. They offered to split the portion of chips between two boxes for me as we don't eat many each, but still ended up with too many for both of us. Looks like they used to do table service, but now you buy take away and then use the tables inside to eat at, in take away boxes. Guess they'd need fewer staff. The ones they had, were all helpful and friendly. Recommend this place for great fish and chips.

Very disappointed to be served my food on a takeaway container in the restaurant, far too many chips mostly hard bits, charged 59p for tomato sauce after l had paid for the fish n chips, definitely wouldn't go back..

Huge portions! Great fish and chips kids meals are served in a bucket and spade which are big portions big enough for an adult too. Always busy.

Paid £30 for 2 fish and chips, cod was lovely but the chips were gross, very thin and cooked till they were sharp and you couldn't bite them. If your a pensioner and you have false teeth don't eat the chips.

Best fish and chips in town and right on the seafront!

We came here for lunch - 1 adult & 2 pre-teens. Spent £40 on a can of drink each, portion of scampi & chips, portion of chicken nuggets & a cod with large chips. Unfortunately we were all disappointed with the quality of the food & felt it was very overpriced for what it was.

Went here for a quick bite to eat. Reasonably good price too. My son had a huge amount of chips and lovely chicken nuggets, all served up in a bucket and spade, delicious they were too. Order food, and you can either stay there and eat them or takeaway 😋

FANTASTICALLY COOKED SUPERB FISH AND CHIPS, probably the best I have ever had !!!! We had 4 takeaways and one sit in during our holiday. Quality was perfect every time. Portions of chips and size of fish were mega !!!!

All four of us enjoyed our fish and chips, fish was very good and the chips where too. Service was in good time and our meals where hot.

Food and service was great, no complaints the restaurant is now used for everyone to eat their takeaway in free of charge if needed. It's expensive but you would expect that from a chippy on the sea front however the portion sizes were very good and we would come again

Chips are lovely and fresh and battered sausage was great. Having to be basically forced to have a kids meal served in a bucket with a spade is a really wierd concept, I queried this and the difference in having it in a box is 10p difference. Surely not having a bucket should be a reduction of at least £1. Food was great the bucket and spade thing is very odd

A classic big window cornershop chippy

Tried the haddock and cod, both equally good. Chips are moreish, chip shop curry sauce and mushy peas the perfect side. Chop butty is also a winner. Two days in a row so far, can we make it a hatrick!

At first was hesitant as the queue was out door and we was in a rush to catch a train, however the queue was moving quickly. The young man took our order at the till assured us it won’t be a long a wait as I did ask and mentioned we had to get the train in 20mins . The service was very fast and very friendly as I did change my mind twice and the staff were so helpful. Will definitely be going again as we all enjoyed our delicious food on the train journey home.

Really disgusted with this. £53 for 4 people, that's without drinks. Small portions. Bland batter. Overall, very disappointing.

The quality of the cod and chips was good. But sadly the absolute rudeness of the boss/chef towards his young staff was excruciating and spoiled the whole occasion for me! He was shouting and questioning one young lad, I’d say bullying is not too harsh a word! People should not support this business. Say no to bullying!

Visit King Edwards every year when we visit Weymouth, great size portion and food is delicious and not at all greasy unlike others I won't mention, highly recommend it!

Nice place, could have used a beer to go with the meal but that's not available. We had the haddock which was nice and tasty. It was a little disappointing that absolutely everything cost more (catsup included). The tarter sauce , etc was all pre-packaged which is safer, but can't it be home-made? The chips could have been a little more crispy.

Used to sell the best Fish and Chips from anywhere years ago. Small fish and very poor quality now.

Came here about five years ago the fish was absolutely out of this world it was massive draping over the plate amazing service and it was our bench mark for all other fish and chippys, we never forgot it , it was a great place to eat you could even have a glass of wine with your meal and the quality was really good. We went back about a month ago and it had changed completely, the fish was half the size but no option for large portion just a standard size but the price as expected was higher no waitress service no passion remaining , just wish it was like it was

A fish and chip shop that also offers dine-in and take-out orders. There are two entrances, and for takeout, enter from the sea side and order. There are plenty of regular chips. They will ask if you want to add salt and vinegar.
