It's not a Weymouth trip without visiting here. The staff are lovely, it's the best fish and chips nationally (in my opinion) and prices aren't ludicrously expensive for a seaside restaurant

Only the takeaway was open but they allowed us to sit in the restaurant area to eat. We had cod, plaice and haddock and all were exceptional and enough chips for a small army. Both the chips and batter were crispy and not greasy so a fabulous lunch was had.

Since covid, they closed the sit-down area but now it's reopened, you have to order at the takeaway, go outside then come back in via a different door. It's ridiculous. The foods great and the lads on the fryers are OK.

Came across King Edwards when I first visited Weymouth for a week with my two small boys in 2019. Was impressed with the take-away so before we left, we dined in the restaurant section. Good enough for me and the lads to want to come back. Had a banging Cod, scampi and chips. We make this out usual, nothing else. Have been back in 2020, 2022, 2023 but only take-away service. Only last week did i decide to cycle from Southampton to Weymouth with the aim of getting to Weymouth to have my usual before heading back to London on the train. Once again, had a banging cod and chips. Bottom line is if you haven't tried King Edwards, go try it. you might just want to keep going back when you can.

We had noticed King Edwards shop as we drove past and then decided to try it before we left for home. We wanted to sit down for our supper but when we did, we were told to go back out and order in the shop. This was because they couldn't do waitress service, but it was a waitress who told us that was what we had to do. We ordered 2 cod and chips and we were so disappointed when it arrived as a takeaway with wooden knives and forks. The fish was lovely but the chips were very disappointing as they were all just bits, no decent chips. Trying to eat a meal with a wooden knife and fork, really really bad. We cannot recommend King Edwards and we will go somewhere else next time. Terry Burns

Lovely white cod. They offered to split the portion of chips between two boxes for me as we don't eat many each, but still ended up with too many for both of us. Looks like they used to do table service, but now you buy take away and then use the tables inside to eat at, in take away boxes. Guess they'd need fewer staff. The ones they had, were all helpful and friendly. Recommend this place for great fish and chips.

Average fish and chips meal - kids meals served in bucket with a spade which they loved but expensive really for what you get. "King Edward's fish and chips were absolutely delicious, with beautifully fresh fish that was a delight to savor. The only small complaint was that everything was too hot to eat immediately, a pleasant problem to have. The food quality was excellent, and the environment was nice. However, it would be even better if they offered table service in the seating area, instead of having customers order at the counter and then re-enter the seating area from outside. Additionally, the children's bucket meals looked fabulous - any little person would love eating out of a bucket and spade. A great dining experience for the whole family!"

My wife and I were staying at a B&B in Weymouth for a couple of days and decided that fish and chips was a great idea for our dinner, but unfortunately we chose this establishment out of all the others we could have dined in. We ordered cod and chips and two cans of drink and were charged the astronomical price of £31.36 for two of everything (cod - £15.90, peas - £3.98, chips - £7.70, cans - £3.78). Now we live in the Leicester and the bill for what we got would be around £10 less to eat in, so why, when we are in a fishing port, does fish and chips cost more than in Leicester which is 100 miles away from the sea? Alongside the price was the size of the portions and quality of the meal. The fish was half the size of the fish we would expect to be served in our local eat-in fish and chip shop and the chips were pretty scrappy (around half were a good size and the remainder were like scraps). So, do I feel I got value for money – no, do I feel it was a nice place to eat – no, would I recommend this place – no.
