I was in earlier this week with friends, food and drinks are reasonable. Staff are vulgar and swear ALOT.

I was in this pub last night for a party, the pub it's self is great, drinks are reasonable too. My problem was one of the bar tenders, she was rude, she smelt and she looked like she hadn't slept for a few days, her mouth was gurning all night and she was trying to walk in a pair of stilettos from 1970!!

I have been told that this pub was a nice family pub with a good garden, i came with my husband and the grandchildren! I was rudely spoken to by a young girl late 30 s with red hair and glasses, her hygiene was unacceptable for one and i also caught her putting change from the till into her own back pocket which i thought was unfair as she was hardly doing any work at all and unnecessary going into the till when no service was provided!

First time I have been in this pub, shouldn't have bothered , asked for the Sunday roast , where do I start ? roast potatoes were inedible had been warmed up from the day before and had just been dipped in fat, carrots were uncooked , broccoli was the same the Roast Beef was really good could have soled our shoes with it, would have lasted a good 6 months without resoling them. But give them their due they offered us a complimentary drink which my Grandson took. Service was good , that's all can say about it.

Fab pub, great atmosphere and amazing food. Great if using the conservatory for an event - buffet food exceptional and good value for money. Kids play area and bouncy castle excellent. Would definitely recommend.

Went for Mother’s Day lunch and was really let down by the food and service. The food was clearly leftover and dry and just overall not enjoyable to eat. Service was lazy (young chap behind bar was pleasant), had to ask to get our plates cleared away and just felt a bit forgotten about. Sadly won’t be returning to what used to be a great spot for Sunday roast

Visited here again following a lovely carvery in May. This time the carvery had gone and the pub seems to have re-focused onto football. The food was OK but not as good as our previous visit. The real eye-opener was our visit to to men's toilets. They were in a disgusting state and left us hoping that the staff preparing our food did not have to use them. This seemed mainly due to poor maintenance than abuse by clients and was not helped by a total lack of anyway to dry your hands.

The Wrestlers re-opened on 18th May and we visited a couple of days ago. All of the original bits and pieces which adorned the walls have gone, including the dart board, and it's just all tables and chairs and very stark. The food is more expensive and not up to the former standard, so we'll leave it a while before we re-visit.

Had an excellent traditional Sunday Roast here today. There is a carvery with 3 choices of roast meet with a good selection of vegetables. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Whilst we ate in the conservatory, we noticed a nice pub garden outside which should be good for summer. The dessert menu was OK and the two we tried were of good quality, but we suspect were not home made. Not sure how many ales they had on tap but we were only told of two (Hob Goblin & Worthingtons) so they could do with a couple more. It can be a little difficult to find as it is on an old section of the Great North Road that is near some more modern housing behind it an offices opposite. However it is well worth finding and we will be returning.

Well... lovely friendly staff and good service.. however me both ordered a Sunday roast and within seven minutes we had this Paley in front of us filled... you would have needed a life jacket as the gravy was already added and was at least an inch deep... it was edible, but was like a school dinner... maybe ask for the sauce on the side.. the over excited lady that served us said I should have asked for gravy on the side... I said it was like McDonalds.. I didn't have time to ask she was there and then gone.. friendly staff though.

I had been here years ago with fond memories of good food and was encouraged by some reviews on here that it might still be good. While the beer I had was good, the bar staff were a bit 'off'. We settled on burgers, but mine was chewy and tough with a fair bit of gristle in it. The trimmings were good and the onion rings we ordered were excellent, the rest left me cold. The loos were clean as was the bar and the restaurant area looked good, but I was disappointed in the menu and even more when the food came, so sorry I won't be going back again.

Visited this fine hostillery whilst visiting family. The pub is a fine example of a traditional pub not like the plastic versions that are so in evidence these days. The traditional Sunday lunch is one of the best I have had. The landlord and his staff were outstanding and take a pride in what they do.

8 of us booked for a family birthday celebration lunch on the Sunday after Christmas. We had hoped that 2 elderly, disabled relatives would be able to come so had rung to get info about access beforehand. We were told that we could get a wheelchair into the conservatory at the back of the pub and that we could have our meal there. As it turned out they were unable to come, but our party of 8 had tables in the conservatory anyway. We appreciated having the space to ourselves. 2 of the party were vegetarians and had a vegetable lasagne. The waitress (who was very pleasant) ensured that those using the carvery got their meals at the same time as the vegetarians. The food was good and the service excellent. 2 people thought they had bread sauce and found out it was horseradish, but apart from that all plates were cleared. The puddings chosen were enjoyed too. They included a toffee pudding, a lemon tart and a chocolate pud. We hadn't used the Wrestlers for a family meal before, but had a lovely time and would recommend it.

Had the most delicious Mexican chicken burger here yesterday. The meat was tender and succulent. It came with cheese, jalapeños, pickled gherkin, tomatoey salsa and salad. It was humongous, so big it was held together with a long wooden skewer. We ordered chips to go with it which were delicious too. For £4.50 it was incredible value. Will definitely return for another.

This pub does a great Sunday roast. £8.50 for a huge plateful for good food. Pat carves the meat (usually 2 meats on offer) and you help yourself to veg and Yorkshires. It's a lovely traditional pub with a nice conservatory, patio and garden. There are things for children to do in the garden - today there was a bouncy castle. There is a nice atmosphere in the pub and the staff are great. Very helpful. It is a bit off the beaten track but well worth discovering.

We had a family meal here for 20. We had booked in advance and the conservatory was beautifully laid. We had a set menu of lovely vegetable soup, the most tender melt in the mouth roast pork with crackling and beautifully cooked vegetables. Then there was the desserts. My homemade hot chocolate fudge cake was to die for. There is a large garden with two goal posts for budding England team players, swings, slide and climbing frame. I'm told they have family fun days on bank holidays. Next time I venture down south from Cumbria to see my grandchildren I won't bother looking for anywhere else to go. This place for food, friendliness and children's facilities is unbeatable

I'd heard this was Hatfield's little gem of a pub but was disappointed when we'd gone there for food but there was none being served. Willing to go back on a Sunday to try the carvery. In all though, one cider, one soft drink and two bags of crisps came to nearly a tenner- room for improvement definitely.

Classic Hatfield pub. Belongs across other side of the railroad in Old Hatfield. Good beer, good bronze. Woke up in the garden many a time- one of the best grass surfaces to sleep on in town, up there with The Red Lion. Can't wait to return. Hope the carts will be there. Staff are beyond great. Pub quiz though was impossible to win: maybe cos I is thick, innit.
