Lovely Cafe in beautiful grounds. Indoor and outdoor seating. Drinks and cakes really good at competitive prices. Friendly waiting staff.

Unfortunately yesterday was bad experience. Customer service from 2 lady's, one from Chile was unprofessional and disrespectful. I don't know how they get job? Please for future owner choose the right person for customer service or train them

Nice cafe in a beautiful setting but they are STILL putting gluten-free cakes on the same shelf as ‘normal’ ones. They clearly do not realise the problems cross-contamination can cause. A very basic mistake easily corrected. So why isn’t it?

This is in the Manjushri centre which has a beautiful buddhist temple and gorgeous woodland to walk through. If you want to go further, you can go along the coast for a longer walk. The coffee, cakes etc area always very good. There's sometimes a long wait because I think most of the staff are volunteers. Always very friendly though

Delicious soup, sandwiches & cakes. Loved the garden setting & new canopy. Such friendly caring staff. The woodland walks are lovely. The only thing that spoiled it for us was the small barking dogs running around uncontrolled by the owners. However we will go back when in the area.

Nice cafe in beautiful surroundings BUT coeliacs beware-gluten free cakes displayed with non-gf cakes. Same tongs used for both. Ample opportunity for cross-contamination.

As regular visitors we enjoy consistently good quality coffee and excellent fresh cakes. Lovely calm, friendly and relaxing place.

An oasis of calm set in the beautiful coastal location of the Manjushri Kadampa Meditation Centre. A great place to stop for a coffee and a cake whilst exploring the various paths around Beach Wood to the shore. On a clear day there are stunning views of over Morecambe Bay and, if you’re lucky, Ingleborough.

This cafe is so peaceful set in an old priory, now part of the Manjushiri Buddhist Temple. The food on offer is freshly made, high quality and very reasonably priced. Choice of outdoor seating, indoor at tables or more informally on settees. Lovely grounds to explore. They do run out of some selections so if you want soup, go in good time at lunch time. It is a popular venue, especially during school holidays.

Cold windy day, so the peace cafe was warm and welcoming. Staff are friendly and efficient the coffee was very good the cakes and scones fresh and generous, the prices small. The conservatory is bright and cheerful the inner room more cosy but both are comfortable.

Stopped for lunch and a visit to the shop before free guided meditation. Had a sandwich, which was served on fresh bread with salad, olives, sundried tomatoes and crisps- absolutely divine. Staff were happy, cheery and a delight to be in the presence of. Lovely cup of tea too, in the most beautiful setting.

The cafe offers three different seating areas (including outside seating), and we usually opt for the light and airy conservatory. A good selection of lovely, fresh and simple food, always served with a smile and friendly greeting. Vegetarian options available - and I think gluten-free also. We had a good pot of tea, nice scones and we enjoyed cheese & pickle on delicious granary bread, with homemade coleslaw. In the summer, there are beautiful gardens to stroll around, and it's only a few minutes walk to the beach through the woods. All in all, always a favourite stopping off point when walking locally.

visited here yesterday with my mum. we spent some time in the grounds and meditated in the temple. we followed this lovely day with a visit to the on site cafe. We had a yummy scone with jam and cream and a hot cup of tea. we couldn't resist the cakes so took some home which were amazing!! would recommend this very relaxed, comfortable and peaceful place for lunch, the prices are great and the people super friendly. thank you.

I love visiting here and having a walk and then relaxing in the cafe. It is such a peaceful and friendly place even when busy. The staff are lovely and do not appear stressed and just serve you with a warm welcome and lovely food.

Delighted we came across this place by accident as it is a real find! Glorious sunny day and we made use of the tables in the garden. Staff very friendly and food was excellent, very reasonable prices too. Would certainly recommend visit.

Lovely setting for this cafe. There seems to be a lot more outside seating now which is lovely on a warm sunny day. Drinks and food of a good quality.

This is one of our favourite places to visit when walking in the area, and always worth a stop-off for lunch or afternoon tea, with sandwishes made fresh made to order. A little too cold for sitting out on the lawn today, on a chilly April day, but so light and airy indoors with lovely views over the gardens. Swift delivery of delicious homemade sandwiches and a generous pot of tea, all served up by courteous and friendly Buddhists.

The best food we had all weekend , the bread was outstanding , Do not miss out on the cakes . A nice afternoon out

Busy venue as popular with local people and visitors and great after a wander through the woods and by the sea. The cake is gorgeous and lots of choice.

The cakes are delicious here and very reasonably priced. The cafe is in the beautifully restored conservatory of the house and you are served by the most polite and pleasant monks

Family visit and we all had coffee and cakes sat in the garden. Nice coffee but the cakes are excellent.

A nice selection of food, all fresh made to order. We ordered and paid at the counter, the staff were extremely polite and friendly. You can choose to sit inside or out. We decided to sit outside as it was a very hot day, most of the tables outside had very large umberellas over them. We did not have to wait long for the food which was delicious and we were also given a complimentary jug of water too. Very pleasant and peaceful surroundings, would definitely go again.

Light & airy cafe with outdoor dining in summer too. Nice relaxing ambiance, with friendly, helpful and polite staff. Lovely, fresh food - with excellent vegetarian options. Generous teapots! Perfect, and one of our favourite cafes when visiting Cumbria.

quite a pleasant cafe, not a huge variety of food and the coffee isnt great and very limited soft drinks. Open and airy and dogs welcome outside with water supplied for the pooches. Its alright to go into if you are already there but I wouldnt make a special journey

you go to the counter order your food which is brought to you the sanwiches are lovey and freshly made with lovely salard soup lovely cakes look like home made

Visited Conishead Priory on a beautiful Sunday in March. The whole place has an air of serenity and peace and everyone seems so happy and keen to speak.

I invited a friend for sunny Friday afternoon tea and we were delighted by the quality. My gluten-free companion couldn't believe her eyes when she saw she had 3+ desserts to choose from. (She said she's usually lucky if she has 1 option.) We sat outside on the large lawn, and were impressed with how quickly our tea and coffee were served there. Even more impressive giving the all-volunteer staff. A delicious end to the week! If only they were open until 5pm all year 'round, instead of just during 'the season'.

came here last week and I'm glad we did as we've never been before and the cakes were so delicious, tasted fresh and looked lovely, one of our cakes didn't arrive but when I mentioned this to the lady she apologised and brought our cake over with an extra cake as an apology which I thought was a lovely gesture specially as the cakes were so yummy.

Called here for lunch, very good value and fast service, peaceful views of the terrace and gardens. Lovely..

This is an amazing place, its a Buddhist temple and retreat.

The café at Manjushri is part of a Buddhist monastery, and so is vegetarian. The food is an absolute pleasure, and includes dishes to please everyone. There is a small shop attached to the café, and some of the incredible pastes and preserves are for sale there, so that visitors can take a memory of their visit home with them. The café itself looks out on the lawns and terraces, and is calm and peaceful.

The variety of food is not large and there is not a lot of hot food, but it is all good value. I had a couple of sandwiches and a large soup for just £5. There is a good range of cakes and hot drinks. The ambience is very good and there is free WiFi provided.
