The Wool Market Doncaster in Doncaster

Maybe I just visited on the wrong day, but there was very little going on in the Wool Market and it was pretty much deserted on a Friday lunchtime, with very few places open and only a handful of people eating at the tables. This is certainly a very different place to how it was prior to redevelopment and there has obviously been a big investment but it seemed empty. Are high rents driving the business owners away? My hope is that it comes alive at night but there was very little evidence of this when I visited.

Unfortunately the wool market has lost it way so sorry

This area is worth a visit but do not expect the cheapest drinks as, whilst good higher than most pubs outside the wool market but it is vibrant especially for a group.

Used to be a thriving hub of a market and activity. Decimated by the council and sold off to an Essex company who's ideas aren't compatible with a "Real" market town and have turned it into a "Brats" playground that no-one no longer wants to visit. Waste of space, waste of money, a market town is totally different to "Essex" innit.

I understand the premise of the place, however, Mega expensive, door quality not very good. 13 quid for 2 drinks. Went for a pizza, came out cremated, and very over priced

Fab fun night great entertainment and food - would recommend did a mix of games and enjoyed them all - food and cocktails were reasonable

Loved this place with a group of friends, lots of bars, food, and great games, mostly free some a small price, can't wait to return

It is one of my fave places but the bowling part is too cluttered together people sit at the tables so there is nowhere for bags etc if a table isn't free darts bit is really good just needs to be louder as the bowling makes so much noise. It would be perfect I say take out the bowling and replace with something else. Also with the rent for stalls being so high the good ones are having to close! It's still a good place to go just a few things need attention to detail.

I would give this more stars, but I'm not sure if the rental of the food stands r too expensive, but less is closing down, and more bars r opening. People love going there for a drink, food, and good entertainment, but this is slowly turning into a gaming pub bars. This place needs a desert stall so when u have something to eat there's something nice to eat afterwards. Lots of us used to go and meet up with kids, but now this has stopped due to less food stands to choose from. On the good side, the quiz night is great, and I highly recommend this with family and friends. It's for all ages, and my teenagers loved it. The live bands are good too.

The most recreational place in the city and your group's /family can serve tasty food from a lot of restaurants that are located inside and You can listen to live concerts and some entertainment are for free*

After being initially disappointed that there are no wool shops... This is a great way to use the space and whoever owns the lease is clearly making an absolute mint. A really good choice of food, some - but not enough - comfy seating, decent toilet facilities (although there was no paper in the baby change so they obviously need to employ more cleaning staff).

We just went in to have a look around on a wet and windy Thursday morning 28th December. With my son and grandson had a game on the bowling alley...not many people about food kiosks just opening all looked clean and tidy . thanks 👍. Michael

Great atmosphere. Plenty of choice on food and drink. Wait/que times can vary significantly.

What a gen this place is! Next to the train station and with a really cheap car park attached as well, it's really handy. The staff were adorable and friendly. Booking was super easy via FB. We played shuffle board, virtual darts and had some tokens on the arcade. It has a bowling alley as well but we didn't try that. The food stalls are lish, we all chose different ones to eat at and we experienced loads of different cultures and food. The place does really affordable kids parties as well and grown up parties too. It would be a great place for a team building day with work or the family for some fun. Couldn't love this place more and I will be back.

Great little place to go for a break, in out the cold, get a hot drink of your choice, plenty of food to choose from, play a few games, and enjoy!!

Didn't eat so can't comment on the food but all the different foods look absolutely amazing and there were plenty of people ordering with plenty of different choices. Atmosphere was amazing with everyone singing along having a great time

Nice place, prices a bit steep!

Absolutely atrocious, there was a male that shouted at me and my friends passive aggressively for eating our food, it was in no way a good customer service. I will NOT be going back!

I had a lovely dirty burger dripping with sauce and melted cheese. Gorgeous. Would have been a better experience with friends. Lots of groups having great times around tables and at the sofa/armchair area.

Great place for drinks and maybe a snack with friends or family. Good selection of food stalls all serving different types of drinks. The heaters are great on a cold evening.

We went on a mid week day, sun shining. We had no issue getting seated. Beer was easily acquired and of a high standard. The food stalls on offer were great. I'm not sure what it would be like when busy. We are planning a return trip. Saturday night, it was busy, and seating was at a premium. Food quality was good. The bar was busy, and waiting time to be served could have been better.

This is a great little place to spend an afternoon with friends. We found ourselves chilling out with some food and drink, of which there is quite a decent choice, and then having fun on the virtual darts (Bullseye is a real trip down Memory Lane and I'm still owed a 1983 Austin Metro, haha). Toilets aren't great, but then I wasn't in there a great deal anyway. Nice venue. Me and the lads will be back.

Edited a previously glowing review for this. What are the management of the wool market doing? First you close half the retail space to put entertainment in that isn't used for about 90% of the time. Then you start forcing out the good food places by hiking the rent to make up for the lost income so they can't afford to stay. Honestly if the pub closes there's no point even going there anymore. Sort yourselves out, this place used to be the best part of Doncaster, don't let it fail due to bad management.

The venue is freezing .. the staff except management are so lovely friendly and helpful . Good food .. just sadly so cold had to buy hot chocolates to keep warm . When spoke to management he was vile and I’m still in shock at how he spoke to me . I only asked for the heating to be put on . Basically told me to complain and walked off .

Good places to eat and drink in the wool market, however, this is spoilt by the constant noise of the ten pin skittles being knocked over.

Nice enough place. Visit on a Thursday evening for quiz night. Never enough seating. PA isn't very clear and a lot of the food outlets a closing down and one that are open over charge.

Now then, The old Wool Market. Used to be a fabulous inside market which has sadly died. Now you have food and drink vendors inside. Food is about right price however at one bar I paid £5.50 for a pint of Corona! Extortionate price if you ask me. So make sure to raid a bank before you get there then you might get a few bevvies in 😂 Only rated 3 stars due to pricing. Other than that, service there is good and it's very pleasant to sit and dine with friends or family. The wool market is accessible and there is unisex toilets within the establishment. There is also some games like bowling and some arcade machines.

First visit. Loved it...come again.. yes... recommend.. yes..

Gave it a Try for 1st time recently, lots of eateries and bars to chose from, would I come again..Yes but wouldn't be a regular thing as quite expensive.

Great atmosphere, wide range of food and drinks, lots of seating, definitely one of the best community dining concepts I've been to.

Good atmosphere, live music and reasonably priced beers.

This is a lovely airey food court with some outdoor seating. Plenty of boozy options for Madge, especially the two Don Valley stalls. Stall one better for real ale and stall two for cider and fizz. Great food choices from obvious pizza, Indian etc. .. to Korean and Peruvian. There is a big games corner to entertain the kids while Madge drinks cocktails.

Perhaps the only success of DMBC's policy of booze and drugs over jobs. Very popular for girly get togethers. There is a very good Greek food stall and lots of other options.

Amazing facilties. So much food and drinks choice! As well as so many games. I'm a regular for pizza and a game of shuffleboard. 10/10 would reccomend. Brilliant day out or evening.

I was visiting my niece and her partner, and they took us here. What an amazing venue, we felt so comfortable. Drinks and food were excellent.

Well, what a revelation! Great places to get food and drink. Live entertainment too. A few arcade types of games, the sit on and drive ones. We played electronic darts which were fab and shuffle board. Good atmosphere from people dressed to go out for the evening to people in shorts and t shirt just going for casual food and drink. Really good atmosphere.

On a Saturday night with temperatures 28° when people want to spend more time outdoors, they stop taking food orders 9.30pm. Also stop moaning your business going down if you ain't changing closing times, weekends at least

Food is very nice at all the stands, Unfortunately, the drinks are very overpriced, I imagine they can get away with it simlar to the racecourse race day, Its expensive because they know when you get settled, you dont want to leave, so you get more drinks. Plus, if the kids are enjoying the attractions, then its a sales trap

The whole thing is a food and entertainment and games hall. It's fantastic.

First afternoon visit to the wool Market which was fabulous in this amazing sunshine.Had a few drinks at Donvalley brewery and an amazing greek wrap my husband had pork and I had chicken and they were lovely and good value for money.Great atmosphere lots of different types of food to choose from.Will be back soon to sample the other stalls Would reccomend a visit you won't be dissapointed.

The Wool Market has become a fantastic venue after its refurbishment in recent years. Going from a traditional yet low-quality stall market to a more upmarket, high quality boutique style venue has definitely increased the city centre profile. Now featuring fewer yet better outlets, it is mostly a food court with a few other outlets dotted around. The main draw is the community aspect, as the dining area gives a nice friendly dining experience, whilst there are traditional indoor games such as shuffleboard and table tennis available for entertainment. Furthermore, local bands and other musical acts often perform of an evening, making this an increasingly desirable venue for evenings out. Being city centre located, the Wool Market is easily reachable by bus, train, or car - the main market car park is literally steps away. Would benefit from better/increased toilet facilities, however.

Vibrate place to good lots of choice food and activities

Called in Sunday afternoon. Free parking. Various food outlets. Just had a cup of coffee, which was great. Short walk round town unfortunately not the place it used to be.

The Wool Market has a fantastic, delicious and diverse amount of food, From an Italian pizza to an Indian Madras, they really have everything you could ever want in one building. They have cheap prices, nice staff, and a fantastic way to keep track of who bought what. I personally bought the Indian Madras and the flavours were fantastic, the food was hot and the atmosphere was calm. This is a brilliant place to eat if you want somewhere quiet, with quick service, and have delicious meals.

We came mainly because of the games on offer, all of which were great fun and the staff very helpful and friendly The food side of things not so good, hardly any places open. We chose to have pizzas, they came to us cold and when I told the staff they told us they were straight out the oven, we were the first customers of the day and perhaps the ovens hadn't warmed up as I saw others after us with pizzas piping hot. We did get a refund but the staff were quite off with us. This was after us trying to pay with a card and getting told that it was our fault not the machine, despite using 3 different cards from 3 different banks and then them doing something with the machine and it working fine. There was nowhere open that served any kind of dessert but we walked out to the street and the shops are 2 minutes away Games side of it - good, food side - not so
