The Woodside Tavern in Leeds

The gold star standard for a British sandwich shop. The prices are fantastic, and the food has the exact nostalgia factor I crave, brings me back to going to sandwich shops as a kid with my dad. On top of this, the staff are incredibly polite.

Food is usually good, but staff will spend a lot of time whispering to each other, presumably about customers, which I find to be quite rude and childish behaviour. On the last occasion I went in there, the manager wasn't in the shop, and this whispering took place between two of the ladies serving on, and my food wasn't up to its usual high standard. My salad sandwich had a black piece of ham in it and my chips were not fully cooked. Hard and chewy. I put it down to the two ladies serving me whispering into each other's ears for almost 2 minutes and not watching what they were doing with the food they were preparing for me. I go somewhere else now.

Me: Asks for an Americano Server: A normal coffee? Me: (Assuming this means black) yes please *Proceeds to make me a milky coffee* Me: Apologises and politely says I wouldn't normally mind but this has milk in it and I'm lactose intolerant Server: Gets annoyed and insists that this is a “normal coffee", exactly what I asked for Me: Apologises and says that this must be a misunderstanding, as to me a normal coffee is a black one (I'm not from the north and am also a lot younger than the server so this might be a factor) Server: Gets visibly more annoyed and raises voice at me. Clearly angry as he tells me I should've asked for a black coffee specifically and when I mention asking for an Americano tells me that an Americano doesn't mean black (it does, it's just common to add milk in the UK) and that I then asked for a “normal coffee" I tried to be understanding and more than once suggested it was a misunderstanding but he didn't seem receptive to this. Clearly a lack of basic emotional intelligence and customer service. Instead of accepting that this was a simple definitional misunderstanding he felt the need to get really defensive. The other staff were fine and fortunately they did make me another coffee, though I didn't particularly want it anymore by this point. Really poor customer service. I'm sure it was just a one off as the other reviews are pretty positive but the experience was really that terrible I felt the need to review.

Great food, value for money and great service

Usually good, although I once found a dead fly on my sandwich. That wasn't a good day.

Absolutely a hidden gem! Always friendly staff. We use them for large and small orders. good quality food at reasonable cost. 1/2 beef Cheese and Bacon burger is a must try.

Not a 4.7, 3.5-4 maybe at a push

You ask for well-done bacon and it comes as if it's just been cut off the pig. If you love undercooked bacon then this is a place for you. Ordered a few times and always seems to be the same. There are better butty shops out there, it's finding them. The other food is nice but the bacon just ain't for me from here.

The large is most definitely a large, bread cake size of a diner plate. I'd prefer seasoning in an egg mayo to stop bland otherwise some nice sarnies.

A personal favourite! The gentleman may not have the most colourful personality but the food is good and a large sandwich is what you expect when asking for large. Never been disappointed and well worth the visit

This place is a gem! Classic British sandwich shop, big menu, big portions, ridiculously well priced and the owner and staff are always lovely. The food is really good too!

A hidden gem. You must go in to look at the menu. Driving past, the store looks like a convenience store with a big sign for sandwiches, as you walk in you smell and see the smokey air in the room, the store on one side has drinks and snacks like space raiders, the counter is decked with rocky roads, home pies, pastries and as I looked up a huge hot, cold sandwich and fry up menu with burgers and cafe style menu. But as I looked left to me; was the special menu, I'm in Leeds Yorkshire and there it was Yorkshire Puddings menu, it's not easy to find a place to eat Yorkshire puddings when your driving through Leeds. The staff are friendly. The price is a lot less than you expect to pay that's what added value and makes this place from 4 to 5 stars. Man the gravy is so flavourful it's got gravy umami. Steak and kidney pie had a great taste, it was nicely seasoned and the bottom pastry is always the best part for me. Great place to have discovered. You locals and students of Leeds are lucky.

Just happened to be passing at lunchtime, I got a hot meal for a very good price and quickly. The people were very nice too, had a chat while waiting. I'll be dropping in again when I next pass.

Great little breakfast/takeaway shop. I always get the takeaway breakfast, plenty of food and well priced. Doubles as a small local shop that sells some essentials. Lots of meal options, breakfast, dinner etc. All to takeaway. Recommended.

Superb little shop that does great breakfast sandwiches. My top tip if you drive is to fill up at the fuel station opposite while waiting for your order. Enjoy :)

Como cosecheros cruda cuyo sazonado siempre buscar la sucursal local y lo hizo en una visita a cerca de Harrogate. Este es un edificio grande, con mesas bien espaciadas. Nos dimos cuenta que para ominoso un viernes por la noche el lugar estaba relativamente vacío!

Fuimos hoy como un regalo para el Día del Padre! No era mega ocupados, pero nos quedamos a las 5 de la tarde, así que después del almuerzo, pero antes de la cena, así que no es sorpresa aquí.

Fuimos allí aún pensando que era un asador. Decidimos quedarnos y mostraron a una mesa. Buscando por el menú y encontrar algunas opciones, pero no asadas. La mayoría de los pubs que hay comida este una opción almuerzo de domingo pero no. Nos ordenamos el menú y la comida era muy buena, pero no merece la pena. La barra libre ilimitado ensalada está muy bien equipada y una gran variedad. Se pueden adquirir como principal si es necesario. Pedí el pollo y chiritzo pila pero no era chiritzo era más como una picante perro caliente.

Los niños + Té con nietos, la amable acogida teniendo en cuenta servicio rápido manteniendo los niños entretenidos y no espera por su comida o nosotros, muy sabroso mucho para comer una muy buena relación calidad-precio.

Muy poca variedad para sin gluten, aunque no tiene un archivo que definen todo alergeno alergias a los alimentos. Ensalada estaba bien y era razonable fresco aunque elección era limitada. La comida era mala relación calidad precio - mal preparada y presentada con inusual cortesía gustos de lo que podría ser aceite que había pasado su uso por fecha. No vamos a volver, lo cual es una pena porque las visitas anteriores siempre había sido satisfactoria!

La visita de un miércoles por la noche. Muy bien presentado, además de comidas bebidas refill y ensalada. Un personal atento y amable.

Servicio de principio a fin era extremadamente lento, la comida era muy mala, no lo recomendaría, sin duda no volver.

1 calle tiempo aquí y todos disfrutamos. El personal era amable y nos informó de las ofertas especiales y la barra de ensaladas, etc. La comida llegó rápidamente y fue muy agradable. No mal de precio y el bar de ensaladas era una gran ventaja. Sin duda volveremos.

As far as Harvesters go, the brand is well established and you know exactly what to expect, and maybe this is the problem.This is one of the newer conversions - very tastefully done in suburban rustic - lots of wood and muted colours. The salads are varied and plentiful, and there is enough alternatives on the main menu to be interesting. Everything, though, is pretty bland in appearance and taste - there are no surprises, nothing to get excited about and no outstanding flavours.The strength is knowing what to expect, the weakness is lack of excitement when it arrives. Service is slow, the range of beers is limited and at £4.50 per pint more than covers the cost of the much-vaunted "free Salad."Will we go back? Probably, because they are good at what they do, but it will be from necessity rather than with any sense of anticipation. Other pub chains do it much better, and Harvester have been left behind.

Thought I'd try out the breakfast as was driving past. Was quite pleasantly surprised. Too much food, very cheap and a decent quality. Waitress called Rachel served us. She was really attentive and friendly. A credit to the team at the harvester. Will try again

The sausages are great and the selection is vast, the staff are really helpful and quick, the venue is clean and would happily recommend.

I had fish and chips the food was awful I will not any more information was last year and it was good but no more thank you

Excellent experience today. Salad was lovely and fresh. Meal was delicious, piping hot and promptly served by a very helpful and pleasant waitress called Anna. Decor was bright and welcoming. Very clean loo which is often overlooked in pub style venues. All in all we couldn't fault it and will definitely be going back. 10 out of 10. Thank you.

Called in to the right place to a very good friendly pub, staff were very helpful, I had a starter of battered onion rings terry had mushrooms mains were bbq chicken stack with chips corn on the cob,one of the best things is the free salad bar eat as much as you like, and a range of what they call our own sauce all are very moreish just help yourself to what you want all inclusive plenty of food at a good price will call again next time we are near.

If you're hungry and have a big appetite, thus place is well worth a visit. Unlimited salad, Bread and coffee if you order a main meal. Starter was as expected but main was huge. Fast service. Friendly attentive staff that kept the coffee coming without prompting. Range of sauces was good (try the bourbon one and the spiked maple. They are amazing). All in all I would recommend a visit

Serving staff were polite and friendly, the food was dry and overcooked. Shame could have been good.

Just wanted a quick tea and decided to call in. Whilst the service was fine, the food was mediocre at best & my fish was tasteless and not very appetising. Couldn't believe it cost £30 for two of us with drinks. Very disappointing. Bad choice on our part....won't be returning.

It was fine, but nothing special and quiet expensive for what it was. My son enjoyed his ribs although it came with watermelon instead of grilled pineapple! Good job he likes it. The salad bar was a little tired looking, but overall it was OK

Called in for lunch whilst out for a drive. Both ordered the mixed grill. Was highly unimpressed with it as the steak was stone cold, the Gammon was to salty,the chips were over cooked, it came with 2 tiny mushrooms.and the salad bar needed topping up.Harverster used to be my go-to place but it's gone down hill

Called about 1.30 on Thursday and place was almost empty so service was efficient. All three dishes were very acceptable,not spectacular, but again, nothing at all wrong with them. I'd certainly go again.

I am what you can call a local drink it in the Woodside harvester, love the warm welcome you get when visit, tonight I met up with a friend of mine and recommended going to my local for a meal, I am glad that I made that decision as my friend said what a lovely meal and lovely staff, I had chicken and prawns recommended from my friend Rachel, my friend had chicken salsa, the chicken was absolutely amazing and the salad bar was so fresh crispy as well as the bread as much as you wanted, most give regards to James and Fran behind the bar amazing staff a credit to the Harvester kind regards from Andy and jan x x

This is my second review, some months after the previous time. Nothing has changed. It's still good service and value for the money, clinched by a well stocked free salad bar, lots of different dressings (including my favourite - blue cheese) and those little tasty bread rolls! Two of us dined late afternoon Saturday; one vegetarian the other gammon and egg, with the endless tea and coffee choice. All greatly enjoyed. Plenty of free parking. My ratings are primarily based on the cost.

We were in the area and needed food. Have kind of fell out with Harvesters over the past couple of years. Use to love them always great value and nice food. However the past few years they have changed and not for the best.Looked lovely from the outside but not to busy. Waited a good 5 minutes to be acknowledged by staff, then they told us they would be a few minutes. Eventually we were seated, possibly in the coldest part of the restaurant. Unfortunately the table of 8 next to us were very loud and extremely rude. Not the restaurants fault but not very welcoming.Menu not a lot of choice and the prices have rocketed over the past few years. Twice my daughter ordered and twice she had to change as they had ran out. They even ran out of chicken! Waited around 20 minutes for drinks, considering 3 of them were empty glasses, it took the Mick.When the food came it was nice. The salad bar before hand was awful. Nothing left on it except lettuce, pasta and coleslaw. Not a great choice.Staff were very nice but run off there feet. Definitely need some help! All in all it was okay, but it has not made rethink my opinion of the harvester, could definitely improve.

Visited yesterday for a family lunch. Salad bar well stocked, mains well cooked and tasty, including a vegan option for my daughter, unlimited Lavazza coffee was a nice touch too. All in all a good experience.

Absolutely terrible food, seems like this place have the same issues over and over again. We and other guests sent food back as the Fish wasn't cooked and ribs also pretty much raw. A "manager" apologised but seemed to make a joke of how it's a supplier problem, not very professional to talk like that in front of customers however and highlights your lack of management and customer service skills!!!Still had to pay nearly 40 quid for a bit of salad and 2 half's of a so called meal with 3 refillable drinks!!!This place has some serious management issues to allow this kind of service, I'm afraid if you can't get basic food right then you have a problem and then tell us it's the suppliers fault so you will remove certain things from the menu isn't what customers want to hear. There's a reason this place is empty!!!Your "Chefs" have problems I'm afraid that over at least a number of months you haven't put right, I'd expect it to be something other than a Harvester before long!!I will be emailing your HQ as, on reflection, just being refunded a raw piece of fish isn't good enough when we spent good money on absolute garbage!!I have retained the receipts so we can take it further Go elsewhere and be wary

Visited with son and daughter in law good waitress service ordered fish and chips too much batter fish not cooked shocking son odered ribs not cooked refused to pay,tue chicken wasnt crackibg either.The table nxt to ours complained about same thing saw bad reviews on line before gave benefit of doubt will not be visiting again car park empty ! Wonder why !

me and my daughter went for a quick bite but was anything but quick. took 25 mins for order to be taken, almost 55 minutes for food to arrive, again a while for lates to be cleared and 20 mins for deserts to be orderd and another 30 mins and no came to clear the desserts and get my bill! I ended up going to bar and searching for someone even though the waitress had been asked then there was the food. as it was after dinner time the salad bar was pratacly non exsistant and my daughters food was wrongly orderd (why not have pads???). my chips were rock hard and raw .after waiting so long didn't want to send back. seems to have gone down hill recently. such a shame.

We celebrated a family members 70th birthday today (a party of around 30 with children)Staff were amazing and nothing was too much trouble!All meals were out together and all were thoroughly enjoyed! A huge thank you to the staff x

We heard from a friend on the way that they had a bad breakfast experience here so we were quite put off, but we're glad we decided to make our own minds up as it was absolutely lovely!Our waitress was called Rachel and she was very friendly and helpful! :-)I was on a mobility scooter but I didn't feel like an awkward burden as usual, I felt very welcome!I was even awkward ordering my food (I want this please but without A, C, D, F etc...) but she was more than happy to accommodate my fussy tongue hehe.I had a BBQ chicken burger and my partner had some sort of chorizo chicken burger. We both really enjoyed them! The sweet potato fries were especially lovely!The pepsi was free re-fills and had loads of different flavours!I also noticed on the menu that the Tea & Coffee were also unlimited refills!Definitely recommend to anyone! Had a fab time :-)

My family and I booked here at the last minute.It is very big with a large car park adjacent to the main road.at a roundabout opposite a Shell Petrol station.Staff were friendly, food was tasty and served quickly.We were not rushed and has a nice time.Obviously very quiet, but staff seemed to make a real effort - Brad was excellent

I have been visiting Harvester and have recommended it to friends and colleagues but this is the third visit to this Harvester at Horsforth and the very last time I will order a meal here! We visited Boxing Day at 12 in the afternoon, the car park was empty, and now I know why.I ordered Rotisserie Chicken with corn on cob and gravy in a cup with odd looking coleslaw and fries. The fries were drowned in salt which I do not put on my fries, the chicken on inspection was not fresh separated it with my knife and I just wanted to vomit it was undercooked. I didn't eat the chicken at all, I didn't want to be ill, I called the waitress over Aand showed her the chicken. She asked if I would like a burger, I don't eat burgers. I was so hungry too, told her I can't eat that food.The salad bar, what the hell is going on there, it's not fresh the iceberg lettuce is brown the potatoe salad looked watery... the list is endless. How can it look this way at the start of lunch time trade??Seriously the head of the chain wants to pay a visit here, its giving Harvester a bad name!!This place will not last long, the food is dire. The wifi is not good.
