Cosmopolitan Restaurant & Bar in Leeds

The Cosmopolitan is being refurbished, last time we were there for a Wedding, the food was sumptuous and the staff were friendly and helpful, we were entertained by The Chris White Jazz Trio who added a touch of class

What a dump! Potentially the worst hotel I have ever stopped in ever! Not as advertised. Breakfast in a bag, no room service. No refreshing of room. Dirty carpets throughout. Dated decor, old school. Avoid avoid avoid!!

The rooms are very old, bad lighting and bad ventilation. Even shower pressure was extremely uncomfortable and uncontrollable. Location of hotel is perfect.

September 2021. So glad I stayed here. No, it's not the most modern decor I could find, but it's clean, presentable and comfortable. What made it 5 stars is the incredible staff. TO THE NEW OWNERS - DO NOT MAKE THE CURRENT STAFF REDUNDANT. THESE PEOPLE KNOW THE PLACE BETTER THAN YOU.THEY ARE AMAZING AND PROVIDE A 5 STAR SERVICE. WE STAYED FOR A WEDDING PARTY AND YOUR STAFF WERE SUPERB. NOTHING COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER. YOUR STAFF ARE YOUR MOST IMPORTANT ASSET - TREASURE THEM!!

Nice big room and well presented

Failed to collect payment from work, meaning I had to pay out of my own pocket. Excellent location if out for a night on the town, less excellent if trying to get a good night's sleep.

Great stay in central Leeds, 3/4 beds are really comfy. Enjoyed my stag here. However the rooms are slightly dated old-fashioned key system for entry but the shower was quality after giving it 10 mins to heat up. I'd definitely stay here again

Noise from nearby clubs is a huge problem. Bring ear plugs or stay out till 4am. This is no fault of the hotel just be prepared.

Clean rooms and friendly staff. food bit expensive but that could be me and Leeds prices ? £10 full english buffet style overall good well placed, parking round corner n you will get discount from hotel.

Really enjoyed staying here! Bed was so comfy the little bits left in the bathroom to use were amazing too. Probably had the best nights sleep in a long time. Will deffo stay here again!

Be better if bar didn't close early when LFF is on monthly

Beautiful building. Lovely staff at front desk, very helpful and extremely professional. Room not to bad tbh just the view a bit off but hey ho definitely worth £55 for the night. Huge thumbs-up 👍

We stayed here and it was alright. They lost our booking when we got there but quickly resolved. In need of updating but was in a good location and the staff were helpful. We didn't go to the bar though but it looked nice.

Very nice looking hotel with massive rooms but a few issues I had was, the lamp shades were tilted all the way to the side when I walked in, the plug socket next to the bed didn't work, the little slabs of wood on the floor surrounding the corner of the bed was annoying because I kept stubbing my toes on them, the emergency wire in the shower was hanging down in the middle of the shower and the fan was extremely loud. For the price I paid those issues weren't a huge problem for me.

Decent hotel. Obviously dated, but good enough for the price. Would not recommend the breakfast

It's a old hotel but very clean with helpful staff. A lot of noise from the streets but that's what you get in a city.

Can't complain about the room or the hotel, only downside was our room was facing Blayd's Bar so noise level was bad till about 3AM.

Terrible stay, avoid! The room was really dirty in the middle of pandemic. Club music you can hear all night till 4am I couldn't sleep throughout the whole weekend. In the room boiling hot with radiators fully on in May. Breakfast only english, if someone don't eat english then you can have croissant, coffee absolutly terrible. Now I understand why they charge you before the stay and take your credit card details.

My room was dirty, found pubic hair in the bath, hairdryer broken, lamp beside the bed broken, carpet dirty. My room was like a sauna, I couldn't sleep due to the excessive heat. I had to open a window but this didn't help in cooling the room enough. At night extremely loud music coming from the club, when window closed still I couldn't hear TV so how could I sleep? Horrible place to stay! No room change offered although I complained, no compensation. I regret so much I have stayed there, my whole weekend was ruined.

Spacious rooms and comfortable beds

the hotel was an amazing stay the rooms were up to date and mordern, very spacious bed, overall a decent stay at the hotel the only thing is say let it down to be a 4 star was with me being on the third floor apparently the hot water on that floor takes a while to get going in the shower and the door knob on the door could be more up to date with a swipe card. over than that brilliant stay 😊.

It was horrible the room was disgusting the bed was so uncomfortable. Me and my girlfriend spent 3 days there and we will never be going back it really wasn’t worth £141.30 at all. However the staff was nice they cleaned the bath but everywhere else was dusty.

El área del bar es grande pero con solo una pequeña área para servir. No hay ningún saludo a la llegada y gran parte del personal parece muy desinteresado. Los precios son altísimos para todo, incluida la comida bastante mediocre y de aspecto escaso (no comimos después de ver que nos trajeron algunos), así que ten en cuenta que hay restaurantes mucho mejores a solo unos pasos de distancia. Si necesita el baño, es como ir de excursión y pasar la recepción y luego a la parte trasera del gran vestíbulo de entrada. El interior parece un poco anticuado. Me decepcionó bastante cuando se tienen en cuenta los altos precios.

You get what you pay for here. Unfortunately due to covid-19 they weren't open for a sit down breakfast and you can't get a cold drink (hot drinks are in your room with a kettle & tea/coffee provided) The beds are comfy, the rooms are warm so you won't get cold. You don't really hear much of traffic or night life considering the location of the hotel (we had our window open all night) The rooms are clean and tidy. The guy behind the desk is very welcoming and suggested places to go when asked. I like the area it's located, as you're close to cafés, restaurants and bars. Not too far from the city center or train station to walk from. Would probably return as it's affordable

Showers are amazing, but wallpaper hanging off the walls. Not bad all in all though.

Really nice place to stay, excellent staff, location, rooms and facilities at a very good price. Stayed in a small double, bed was so comfortable 😀 the room had a quiet ceiling fan which was perfect for a warm muggy night.

Booked again for the 25th - 27th of this month. Great hotel always get the small double with my fiancée. Lovely x But the keys for the hotel room doors are a pain that’s why I’m knocking of a star but if I could it’d be 4 and a half x

Llamados al bar para tomar algo antes de la cena, el distanciamiento social estaba bien planeado con amplias estaciones de desinfectante de manos. El personal era agradable y simpático. Amplia variedad de bebidas, aunque debido a la nueva apertura después del cierre algunas bebidas no están disponibles. Menú reducido en el restaurante, aunque no comimos en el restaurante, la comida que vimos entregada a otros se ve bien presentada.

Good central place to stay, comfy and quiet and reasonable price for the center of Leeds. staff were friendly 4 star only as no dedicated parking but nearby secure discounted parking available.

£15.50 for two glasses of house wine , dearest drinks in the country, don’t bother go London instead this whole place is a rip off !!!!!!! All the surrounding pubs and bars are equally expensive complete rip off , be warned.

King room at the hotel. Very comfortable, nice bath. No fridge though. Continental breakfast is anemic, very few options and quickly gone. Hot full English was tasteless. Get a room, go somewhere else for food.

Went as part of a surprise weekend away and mentioned this to the very helpful manager David, and look what they did for us. From the moment we arrived all the staff were absolutely amazing! Room was beautiful and recently renovated. Highly recommended

I stayed here for 2 nights , bang in middle of Leeds with good restaurants and night spots around it. But still not noisy compared to the other hotels I stayed. Bar has interesting cocktails. The breakfast is value for money. Best 3 star hotel I stayed in England. Only negative feedback is outdated carpets.

The hotel staff are great and go out of their wYtohelp. However the hotel let down by a chef who really can't be bothered and it becomes a lottery if he can be motivated to cook your food or be Interested to actually stay. Pity as the hotel onthe whole is brilliant.

Awful rooms, very dated. Not good value for money

I would not stay at this Hotel again. On arrival at the room my key didn't work, I then had to contact reception who said 'oh the keys are new and the locks are old... There's a knack to it.' I then had to go down to reception to get some other keys. The receptionist accompanied me to try the new keys. This time one of the keys worked. An executive king room isn't 'executive'. Cheap plastic tub chair. 1960s plug socket behind the bedside cabinet which doesn't accept current UK plugs. The bathroom and shower were good with some toiletries. Bed comfortable. When in reception reading the papers I heard the receptionist dealing with complaint after complaint e.g cold rooms, faults etc The £10.00 pre paid breakfast isn't worth it. Orders came wrong. Bacon and fried bread over cooked. Silly garnish sprinkled on. The lobby and restaurant are much more grand and betray the dated rooms and floors.

It's good and I keep returning there though it does leave some room for improvement

We had our staff christmas party here on arrival disponited to see no bar in the room or toilet you had to walk a full lenth of a corridor into reception then to the main bar or toilets also the room was very cold if we knew there was no bar we would not have booked The food was nice but cold by the time it got to us and the waitress became rude when she did not have a enough desert saying we orderded wrong good job we had a list of who orderded what she went to see the chef and got more the barstaff where friendly but a constant wait for glasses they kept running out wont return for a christmas again on a positive note the DJ was good .

Bar staff were so friendly so they get 5 stars but the prices, My God. £27 for 3 drinks. Never again!!!

Really disappointed as booked Christmas meal in restaurant and told we hadn't so had to have normal menu not what we expected

When we arrived we were greeted by a dodgy smell coming from the toilets. First impressions seemed ok however once we turned the corner to go up to the room the carpets were thread bare on the stairs. The decor is really out of date and so is the room. The bathroom was not great and in need of repair. The bed was comfy but I didn’t fancy using the shower, just wasn’t appealing. We stayed at the back of the hotel which is next to a bar. The bar was supposed to shut at 1am however we heard music all night and it was still going when we left at 8:30am. Staff were very good. We didn’t get a discount on our stay though which would of helped.if we return they did say they would reduce our rate however, not sure we will return to this hotel. Absolutely knackered and had a 2hr drive home... great location though.

Central location. Building has lots of character. Courteous staff. Amazing freshly individually cooked breakfast (I appreciate that the breakfast is expensive but work was paying for me and my B&B costs aren't particularly high).

Could get better cheaper. I know this is an old building and gladly keep some of its original features. But I shower curtain over the bath is so outdated. Nothing worse in my opinion than the shower curtain trying to murder you while having a shower. Oil burners in the room is just not sufficient in winter. On a plus note all staff are very friendly the food is beautiful.

It's in a very good location however could do with some work as looks a bit tired and dated.

Traditional British City Hotel... Huge rooms, high ceilings, and bath tubs you can drown a cow in. Overall, I liked this hotel. The location is excellent, the staff are exceedingly friendly and helpful, and the rooms are clean and well appointed. About the only issue is the fact that parking is a couple of hundred yards down the road, in a multi-storey car park. Then again, the Cosmopolitan isn't the only Leeds city-center hotel suffering from this problem. I'll stay here again, next time I'm in town.

Reasonable price . Lovely staff x room a tad to warm even tho radiator off. Good job there was a fan but that was a bit noisy.food was lovely x nice variety of cocktails.

The hotel is fine, staff fine, meals fine, but when it says noise well that does not describe it.... My sister and myself stayed in room 101 okay room but the noise was horrendous, expected a little road noise as on a busy road but our room was opposite a restaurant /bar which stayed open till 5.30 am. The noisy which was so called music booming out all night was so loud we couldnt hear the TV cars beeping and roaring about music or so called music blaring out it was just the worst place I've ever stayed. This spoilt our weekend which was a birthday treat for my sister to the First direct Arena to the AHA concert, which was brilliant pity this was spoilt.

Was a ok experience for me. We got our room when we checked in. Way earlier than our booking said mind you. They found a room for us. Our room was above a nightclub. It was a weekend and I look young like I might go to the club. Fair. I don’t, it was really loud. The club was open till 4am! Someone was smoking outside the club and that was coming up into our room. You wonder why the window was open? It was so hot in my room, End of June. Didn’t have a choice. We contacted the hotel in the middle of the night. They said they didn’t know if they had a room the could move ya until 8am when the staff arrived. They gave us a different room for night 2. Across the hall. WAY different. It looked like it was newly renovated. Had a bigger bed, no club down stairs. Kept the window open all night. Slept so well the 2nd night. It was like a whole different experience.

OMG we had afternoon tea today here and I have to say it was the worst I have ever been to, sandwiches were in stale bread, egg mayonnaise was warm, took ages to come out, cream was out of a bottle, very poor would not recommend and I certainly will not be returning J

Nice bar and friendly staff. Rooms are clean but looking a little tired/dated. Some of the 'double bed' rooms are actually only 3/4 beds. I would expect something more modern for the rates normally charged. In central Leeds, at least. Noise from the pubs/clubs on Lower Briggate can be an issue in some rooms, at times.

Fabulous ....afternoon tea plentiful and delicious ..chocolate soufle amazing . staff friendly attentive but not intrusive ..not rushed perfect for cstch up with friends ...already arranged to go back for next catch up

Had afternoon tea here today, sandwiches were basic, cheese, tuna & ham could do with a bit more variety & quiche! Pudding was yummie, coffee was horrible, I got a voucher of Wowcher would deffinately not off paid full price as not worth the money had much better for less money!

The Cosmopolitan is in the heart of Leeds, surrounded by great entertainment.

Had the chocolate afternoon tea. Deserts were the highlight. The sandwiches could be improved by being a little bit more varied, the fillings included plain cheese and egg. We ordered the vegetarian option and was brought out tuna sandwiches which is not really ideal either. Needs to cater better for veggie options. Cocktails were lovely and the staff were also nice and friendly.

Tis a grand hotel, though please do not confuse it with the John Wickian film "cosmopolitan hotel". If you're an international assassin you will have to look elsewhere
