Only went in for a drink really good beer. The place needs updating.

I came in one Sunday and was overjoyed to find out that roast dinners were being served. I have to say this was without a doubt the best roast dinner I’ve ever had and for an even better price! The freshness and quality are what makes this roast so great. Definitely coming back again!

Like previous reviews, we found the bar staff friendly enough but the manager requires to enroll himself in a customer care course. We read a good report on the pub and thought we'll give it a go as live in the local area.......definitely won't be returning in the near future. The food was portion controlled, a small amount of chips, tea spoon of coleslaw, a dubiously cooked burger and a rock hard bun. I would say the drinks were satisfactory, but the gin and tonic appeared to be missing the gin!! Unfortunately, I can't see the place staying open much longer under the current regime.

The food was horrible angry owner recorded children at bus stop very strange and very bad would not recommend

Honestly this pub used to be great. Unfortunately the new owner has a rather abrasive personality. It used to be a welcoming pub however now the atmosphere is less than welcoming.

We came for a visit with our pooch early evening on a Friday. We were made to feel very welcome, as was Daisy the dog. Staff and manager very friendly, took time to say hello and make recommendations. We had a meal here and chose the recommended smash burger with dirty fries! Burger was lovely, though huge, and fries incredible! There were children here enjoying the sunshine, so good for families as well as those seeking football entertainment. Get yourselves down here. We’ll definitely be back!

We have just had a Sunday roast here today, the food is very good, obviously home made, very tasty, the atmosphere is very relaxed, the staff are very friendly we will be back. Highly recommend.

What a lovely Sunday roast with Yorkshire pud and veg and a glass of wine. Friendly staff in a warm and welcoming venue. Thoroughly recommended.

I have been to a lot of places and had a lot of burgers but I can honestly say without a shadow of a doubt the smash burger is one of the best I’ve ever had you can tell they are completely made from scratch and fresh and nothing gets frozen if you want a life changing burger this is the place to come l

Awesome burgers with skin on fries and also tried the chicken wings, which were really good. Reasonably priced, great beer on tap, fantastic service.

The food was amazing, smashed burger for me and linguine for the lady. Both left clean plates. Special spices in the fries made them extra special

Great Sunday roast dinner. All ingredients are fresh and of good quality. Roast potatoes deserve a special mention! Vegetarian and vegan options available. Very friendly and attentive staff.

When in on Monday night for a catch up with a few people. It was very quiet, but nice.

Really great to see the pub back open, and Mo is doing a great job. The smash burger is one of the best burgers I've ever had! Very reasonably priced too.

New menu this week. Very reasonably priced. food was all fresh, nicely cooked, and very tasty. My partner, who is notoriously critical enjoyed the food. Both my smash burger and her chicken kiev. The beer was also well priced and on form.

Food was amazing - such good value for money! Burger in particular was delicious, all home cooked and can tell the chefs are passionate about food. Recommend the fish & chips and the Vietnamese wings too 👌🏻Can’t wait to come back!

Our American football team are regular patrons of the Woodmans. Fantastic service and staff, great beer on tap and a fantastic atmosphere. Manager Mo in particular is doing a great job with the place.

Total waste of time, website advertising Sunday roasts and booked through open table, when we arrived at pub it was noisy and couldn’t smell food. When we said we were here for food. No had reservation we were told no roasts today and had rib menu offered. Totally unprofessional and not given what we asked for. We left and went elsewhere

Had a nice meal here on a weekday evening with my husband & son. We were joined later by his wife, who had been working & so did not arrive until the kitchen closing time, but they agreed to prepare her meal & kept it warm. She ate it & agreed it was very nice & thanked the staff for the considerate service. All our meals were good & reasonably priced. We will definitely be back, especially as they are dog friendly & so we will be able to bring our friendly spaniel.

So friendly and a really homely atmosphere! If you're lucky, their dog will come and give you a cuddle too!

Nice food but some specialist lagers can be expensive, other drinks are quite well priced.

A warm and welcoming atmosphere, the staff are only upstaged by the friendly pub dog, who seems to live for strokes. The food is food and reasonably priced.

Come down to try the Sunday roast from the new chef and was amazing, my rating always goes on the roast potatoes and they were perfect, beef was perfectly cooked will be here every Sunday!! The weekday menu also looks amazing, especially the tapas options.

Fantastic real pub. With live music!!! How many pubs do that nowadays. Excellent. AND, it has a brilliant real acoustic Knight Piano. That's regularly tuned! Well worth a visit

Faye supports live music and the local scene. we play here a few times a year and always have a good night.

Best pub for live music in the area. Great landlady and staff. Absolutely make sure you're there when Shortround the band play. It's amazing!

Bar staff very friendly music good but the customers are rude and nasty I stormed out because they wouldnt and refused to chat to me customers should be nice in essex but there not there horrible full of horrible ignorant men on a saturday night I know where I'm not wanted 😡🙌

A very local pub ,if not a regular, not the freindlisest as locals suspicious. A nightmare to get to pm bus from Southend, took 55 minutes

Coke was flat and syrupy, had to take it back, glasses and cutlery were dirty, hulloumi fries overcooked

Popped in for a pint with 2 friends after a bike ride to be told they had no real ale on (shocking )and had not had a delivery , it’s was a Friday afternoon so guess non for the weekend either so headed a mile up the road to the white hart . Will not be returning and false advertising stating cask ales available

The woodmans is the most amazing community pub so welcoming it is perfect for casual drinkers and and families alike tnd there's normally a band or some sort of event running at weekends Can't recommend this place enough

Nice place, food is excellent, has a very friendly resident dog who always comes up and says hello. There is clearly a bunch of regulars but not unwelcoming at all. Very convenient parking and location.

The woodmans is a family friendly place always something going on there for all ages. Great music bouncy castle climbing frames and slide. Food is good and it also has an outside bar and BBQ.

Very poor service. I was about to walk out without managing to get a drink. What I assume was a regular customer came to the bar to order a beer for himself but pointed out to the staff my friend & I were still waiting to be served & should perhaps serve my friend & I next. Disgusting service, I will not be returning.

Pub ok but not particularly cosy. Roast was average but not fresh veg. Garlic bread starter was not great

Good music, beer snd atmosphere.

Never been in thundersley before and it was a great little pipstop for a bite, they even had a live band which was a tad loud for the little pub but a friendly at mostphere quick service and even had entertainment available for kids
