Probably the best Sunday lunch I have had.

There is nothing good to say about this place. They messed up our booking, the food was shocking, either dried up meat, watery veggies, swimming in watery gravy. The atmosphere was unfriendly and the staff rude. Never again

Classic country pub, warm welcome, good ales, fantastic food (sunday roast)

Food were well priced and pretty decent. The portion of mash for the pie 🥧 could've been a little more generous. Otherwise, couldn't really fault. The fish was out of this world! So fresh and crisp! Extremely dog friendly and they accommodated our needy boys amazingly!!

Visited here when staying down the road at the whitemead campsite, booked a table and the pub was very busy granted due to the rugby. Mostly people drinking not too many eating. Got seated, had to queue for a while to get a drink, was told food is table service cannot order at the bar. Waited 25 minutes for someone to come over to take our food order. Pie of the day, scampi and a pizza. Server says there's no pie of the day ran out so went to get us another menu, ordered something else, few minutes later she then came back and said there were no pizzas. Service was very average, food just put on the table and walked away, had to go find someone to get some sauce. Food was average at best, spoons quality at a push if not slightly worse. The experience you get for the money you're paying, wouldn't return. Quite poor.

They need to understand what the country gent wants from a pub

Had a nice time and the service was great. Currently away for my bday and mum and dad's anniversary. Although nice place and area... We didn't know how very pricy for basic ingredients is As where I'm from, what we has is less then half the price we paid which is more then double here. It probably explained why it was quiet 🤷🏻 Nice for a 1 visit or once a year basis.

Service and food used to be amazing here. Went in October (2024). Ended up going to the bar for our drinks, we are normally asked when we sit down if drinks are required. Food finally ordered, and then we waited for over an hour before it arrived. It appeared that those before us were bing served first (and rightly so), but for example, the table of two next to us had starters (we only ordered main), course and sweet. Their starters came after we had placed our order. They then had their main, it was only after they were given sweet menu that our food arrived, when I say arrived it was "dumped" on the table with the server walking away, no would you like sauces or more drinks" as they have done in the past. Anyway, the food looked ok apart from a very run egg. As I couldn't see a server, I ended upŵ walking with my food to the bar to ask if the egg could be cooked a little longer. This wasn't received too well. The plate was taken and returned with no apology. Very disappointing visit. Sadly, due to a huge lack of customer service, we will not be returning again. I would also like to mention that the restaurant didn't appear busy, and at no time were we advised that there would be a wait.

We had great food and exceptional service, when the staff of the Woodman Inn returned our forgotten bag by post, hen we left it under the table. Thank you so much

Lovely local pub, great atmosphere and the food is great too. My son loves the burger on the kids menu and I have to agree it's one of the better quality kids menu burgers I have ever found.

Chicken nuggets were a bit crispy and burnt and no pees

The fish and chips were not good. The batter tasted old & oily and the chips were not fresh & some were hard, for £15 I was disappointed and when I informed them they were defensive and not open to feedback

Poor food. Microwaved at best. Definitely not cooked fresh. Nothing from the grill available. Pastry on the pie was rock hard. Was so hungry though after a long trip that ate it. 2 hours later. Bad decision.

As the reviews were not good we were hesitant about booking but we wanted a pub near to whitemead holiday park so 15 of us booked a table for a birthday celebration Saturday 28th 6.30 they wanted our meals pre ordered which is fine. A Lovely pub inside and a large table area to accommodate us.all so this was perfect. Not that busy at the time but had a few waitresses to work the tables. The girls did well and answered to our needs with swift response..well done girls .👏 Everyone’s Food came out in time except for mine a wait for me whilst all was eating also a wait on sauces to their steaks which they had nearly eaten by the time it arrived. Portions of chips were more on some than others Pizzas were lovely and looked freshly made but one had to be sent back as they found an hair in it but was soon replaced with some wait .. hence the 4stars . Everyone enjoyed their food and drinks it was a lovely evening. Music in the bar at 9 which sounded great and could of stayed if we hadn’t got to see to our dogs. Lovely pub to visit.

Just odd. We used to love this place but stopped going after the old owners left, and it was taken over. Decided to give it a try for lunch. 3 males behind the bar, and only 1 seemed to know what he was doing. The others just looking at their phones and tripping over each other. We counted at least 8 young girls, all very young, wearing uniform, rushing around, all looking a little confused. When 1 table had cleared, 6 of them ran to clean it! People standing at the door waiting to be seated whilst these girls all huddled and didn't do very much. Seemed very strange to have that many staff that couldn't serve drinks, just food, and clean tables. Just wasn't a nice atmosphere. We were told they were full at 4.30pm when we arrived so we sat for a drink then another member of staff came and offered us a menu stating she didn't know why the male told us they were full. Food came. Peas were rock hard. Mash was bland not "creamy" as stated on menu. Pie was nice but obviously bought in and gravy was cold. Despite the amount of staff running around, not one stopped when trying to get attention to say it was cold, so we gave up and just left it. The toilets which used to be so clean and well looked after were a mess. Toilet roll holders falling off the wall and clearly hadn't been cleaned for some time! Just hugely disappointing.

Used to love coming here for food, visited Sunday evening, atmosphere in the pub was good and restaurant seating area was basically empty. Myself and my partner both had the beef roast and it was the worst roast dinner either of us have had. Everything was bland and dry, almost laughed when the waitress brought out the veg (soggy boiled cabbage and green beans - see photo attached). You would think the chef would know how to season things properly! The potatoes were soggy on the outside and undercooked on the inside, everything was practically swimming in watery gravy as well! Definitely not worth £17 a meal price tag. Very disappointed, won’t be visiting again.

Bar staff didn't seem to know what beers they have on tap (literally asked me "what's that" and "we dont serve that" when I ordered a beer that was on their list of guest ales and on tap at the bar), service very slow. Food was fine, nothing special. Won't be back. Head to the other pub down the road instead.

A bustling village pub with food opposite the village cricket pitch. We had their Sunday roast - one mushroom wellington and a roast pork. Delicious filling food and reasonably priced.

Drove past this pub on the way home on a Sunday after a day visiting the local area and popped in on the off chance they had availability for lunch. Lucky for us they did! Service from every single person we came across was amazing, they couldn't do enough for us! Sunday lunch was one of the best we've ever had! Portion size was perfect with a generous amount of meat and a variety of vegetables. We also ordered a childs menu which my daughter loved, again a generous portion, and they also catered for my very fussy son! Very happy we stumbled across this place, we will definitely return when we are back in the area!!

Really nice country pub. Lots of space. Had the Sunday lunch. We were stuffed. Lovely staff.

The serving staff could have looked a little happier! 😁 Other than that our experience was great! Service, food etc no complaint other than please smile girls it makes a huge difference.

Called in on the off chance without a booking. 3 staff walking around the empty bar but we were ignored for a few moments. If they just said "I'll be with you in a minute". They fit us in for Sunday lunch and we were not disappointed apart from the frozen yorkshire pudding (its not hard to make fresh) and roast potato's which were soft and chewy. I had turkey and my husband had mixed meats and there was plenty of it. Nice veg, not a lot but enough for ourselves. I did ask twice for cranberry sauce but had nearly finished my meal before it came. I would have preferred my gravy to come separately as there was far too much on my plate. Lovely meal though and would definitely call again.

Good food yet is slightly slow in service. I'm not sure if it's a one-off experience 🤔

We regularly visit this venue for lunch & have become very disappointed with the reduced lunchtime menu and the reduced service, regarding the amount of days that they serve lunch. This has resulted in our finding alternative places to eat lunch instead of which used to be our favourite venue.

We visited yesterday (27th) for dinner and had to book for 8pm. When we arrived, we were shown to our table and that was it, no menu handed to us or no order for drinks offered. After 10 minutes we had to ask for our menus and then after 15 mins had to ask to be served. After we were served we waited 50 minutes for our meal. We appreciate it may have been short staffed, but it wasn't busy at this time we were virtually the only ones at a table, there were no apologies for the wait from the young waitresses at all. The food wasn't worth what we paid either. Very hesitant to visit again!

Rather disappointed....turned away for food at 5.30, as no more walk ins allowed. The bar staff seemed a bit embarrassed. Stayed on for a beer or two, but despite plenty of staff sat around doing very little, and plenty of space at the tables, no prospect of food. They just need to be a little more flexible.

Poor, cold meat. No cutlery provided or apple sauce, mustard or horseradish with the meal. Served the same sized tureen of veg for either one or two people. The cuts of meat would have made a sound basis for a pair of flip flops and the stuffing ball would have made a perfect core for a cricket ball. One of our party requested mash but couldn't have it despite sausage and mash being on the menu. Disappointed

Weatherspoons quality food without the weatherspoons price tag. Disappointed. After seeing all the amazing food pictures I was greeted with the bland of the bland pub burger and fish and chips. I'm not a gourmet chef but I think most competent people can make a better meal. I think the golden arches would have been a better choice. This was not during a prime time and that might be a factor if you go here. Everything else, ale, service and venue all top notch

Excellent food! Supper was so good on Saturday, we booked Sunday as well. We can’t speak for the rooms; stayed elsewhere. Nice venue. Highly recommend the pie of the day, bangers and mash, side salad, fried mushrooms, and Sunday roast.

We always have a great meal at The Woodmans Inn , the service is always great, staff are polite and friendly, especially Josh

Went for a meal out for my 40th birthday, it was a large party, including lots of children. The food was great, the staff were very attentive and they gave us our own space allowing for decorations. Had a very positive experience.

Overall a lovely place for some food and a drink, we didn't stay so can only comment on the food but it was very high quality with a good selection. The kids menu (although expensive for kids) was large and also very good quality.

Seems OK for a drink but the food here is poor. Cheap and nasty wholesaler products which are sold as gastro. Our group had pizza, steaks, scampi - all of which were at best very average. Disappointing. Avoid if you want a decent meal.

Had an evening meal here with my family whilst staying locally. Although the 2 staff who were on were friendly and the lounge was pleasant we were all disappointed with the food (pizzas, scampi, and sausages & mash). Went to the Miners Arms the following evening and the food there was altogether a different level. Nice place to go for a drink but can't recommend this place for food when there are so many better alternatives in the area.

Great local pub, lovely food with friendly and helpful staff. Excellent range of local ales and ciders. I Recommended the burger.

We visited over a weekend and the atmosphere was good. Some real ales were available along with the normal ciders and lagers but I must say the food was fantastic. Good portions and very tasty. Highly recommended

We went for a meal yesterday February 14 there was 5 of us with 2 small dogs 🐕🐕 4 adults 1 11 year old it was very welcoming lovely pub food and service was great and they had a great local IPA which was very nice with your nomel p ub 🍺 beers will be going back soon when at whitemed for holidays as we up this way alot

I went for Sunday lunch with a friend whilst on a weekend away. We didn't book but there was a table available for us. The food was excellent and great value. Very friendly staff too.

Fantastic Sunday lunch and service.

My family ate here last Saturday. The burgers and trimmings were great. I had the vegan wellington but it was a quite dry but with soft/soggy pastry - more sauce or gravy would have been good. My son had a medium rare steak - it was undercooked for his liking - they offered a new one or to cook the one he had longer - he had it cooked longer but said afterwards it was a bit below expectations. The staff were lovely and helpful. We asked if tips go to the staff and were told since new management had recently taken over, staff only got 50% of the tips! I wanted to tip the staff not the management. It will soon be illegal for management to do this, but the sooner they change that the better.

Went here today with the family waited over 1 hour for tuna melts and fish finger sandwiches. When they arrived they were awful fish fingers swimming in grease and tuna melts freezing . Was going back for evening meal but not a chance after that

Decent food and staff friendly but have noticed the atmosphere is a bit flat now. Been coming here for almost 6/7 years. Last few visits place feels really different now.

I had a cod and chips there's practically no fish in the batter taste dry crunchy nasty, beans ya get is a table spoon wasnt happy personally went few years ago and was amazing what ever happened l. Mrs. looks nice, but wjat ya charge for a kids meal 8 quid and there's 7 chips and tecso cheese pizza. I mean, that was vile !
