Best fish and chips I've had. Staff are so friendly, fish is crispy and golden and perfectly fresh inside. Try the spicy black pudding. Curry sauce and gravy is great! It's a treat enjoy yourself and go all out here, it's worth it! Also you can take it to the dog house next door to enjoy with a tasty iPA!

Was looking for a decent fish and chip shop and this place looked nice and clean. Service was good and friendly but the food was terrible the chips tasted like the day before leftovers so won't order from here again but we did eventually find a really good chip shop Al's place

I bought fish and chips earlier 17.30. The batter was rock hard and the fish was dried up. Cooked lunchtime perhaps?? 🤷‍♂️

Best I've had for a while from a chippy. Fish broke into thick tender flakey chunks in light and crisp batter. I ate every chip with pleasure. They keep their frying ahead of demand so you don't have to wait for your individual order to be cooked. The way chippies used to work. Trust the queue and ordering system - they know what they are doing!

Best chippy in the area. Generous portions, chatty staff and a huge selection on the menu.

Speak as I find. The cod and chips were really off. The cod was rubbery and didn't taste fresh, the batter was hard in places. The chips had no flavour. Very disappointing as we are locals and thought we would pop in during the Coleford Music Festival. Will not be visiting again.

One of the older lady's was pretty moody. The food was lovely though. Prices are okay. I would go again.

The service and quality of the fish is first class. The jumbo Haddock is fresh cooked to order. It is bigger than our plates. We have been using the Tram Stop for the last five years and the quality is consistently good.

Impressed. Made a small detour to get fish & chips on the way home & found it surprisingly good. Decent chips & the best fish we've had for a long time. Large piece of cod, succulent & sweet, excellent crispy tasty batter. Would make a larger detour to eat here in future.

Just had a couple of battered sausages, it was like chewing on an old leather boot, god knows how long they've been sat there. Very disappointed.

Not at all impressed 😒 Batter on fish soggy as hell with an uncooked floury residue between fish and batter! Curry sauce that thick it wouldn't even pour out of the pot!!!! Gave them the benefit of the doubt following a previous poor meal, that's it now shan't use them ever again.

Got to say this is by far the worst fish and chips I've ever had, batter on the cod wasn't cooked all the way through and the chips were cheap bruised potatoes and over cooked if I was closer I would have taken them back instead put it in the bin

Purchased Cod bites and chips £8.50 at 12.15 pm. I only live literally no more than 5 mins away, and after unwrapping, everything was stone cold. The batter on the Cod bites was spongy and soggy and not crispy. Basically a total waste of money.

Long weekend break in Forest of Dean and popped over for a fish supper. Amazing food, large portions and great service with very friendly staff. Excellent start to our holiday.

Coleford's finest, you must try there meat patties, excellent and unique.

Great Fish and Chips shop worth a visit in Coleford.

Purchased 3 portions of cod and 2 portions of chips. Chips were o.k but nothing special. The big problem was the cod. Possibly the driest cod I ever eaten from a chippy and the batter was definitely not crisp. I can only assume that it was not freshly cooked. A number of previous reviews have highlighted the same thing.

Just went in and paid for large gravy, got home and the pot is not even a third full. Literally has a tiny bit in the bottom of the pot, Is that incompetence, laziness or nastiness? Woman serving was so rude and made it feel like everything I asked for was a chore. Wont use again. Defo gone down hill.

Waste of time. Don't ever have the things that are on the menu. Absolute let down. Over priced and they ruin the food by using paper that sticks to it and rips the batter off when you open it

Quite possibly one of the best chip shops I've been to.

Fantastic food here and the service is superb! Called an Order through for collection and was ready on time, when we got back to eat, the order was perfect and the food was really great, very impressed! Left a tip as I was so pleased to collect on time as arranged and from such a happy lady!

Dreadful! Ordered 4 fish, 2 large chips, sausage, peas and curry. The fish was still swimming, sadly in grease. All four were dripping! The chips were so soggy and greasy, by the time we got back to our accommodation (5mins) away they were like piles of mashed potato. Would not recommend this place. Certainly will not eat here again.

Fish was rubbery, chips were very chewy, wouldn't use again.

Had fish and chips it was very evident the fish had been warmed up from lunchtime the chips were small and very chewy the oil cooked in leaves an after taste seems to be from old oil. The man doing the frying didn’t seem to be a happy chap and came across as not wanting to be there. Such a shame as the shop is in a good location and has the potential to do a lot better with the right team.

Bought fish and chips at 17.40, very dry both fish and chips seems to be warmed up from lunch time batter on fish very chewy and the chips were small and dry. Definitely not worth the price of £8.00

The service was good however, the chips weren't that nice. The locals seem to like it but as for chips, would say they are not using the best potatoes for chips. Well, not the ones they use back home.

I have had food from the Tram before and it has been great but last Tuesday when me and Mum ordered a chicken burger for me and when I ate it, it was pink in the middle and that caused me to be sick in the middle of the night I won’t be ordering a chicken burger again

Lovely fish, its best to phone your order through in advance to avoid the queue. We found that the standard portion of chips is about double what most humans can eat, so another time we order half the quantity.

Went to Tram Stop for meal with friend. Had cod chips and he had chicken. The food was freshly cooked and was delicious, fish was pure white in lovely batter and chicken very tasty friend said. Got a small chips which easily fed both of us.

Had chips from here this evening and they were brilliant. Best I've had in a long time.

It's been over 13 years since I last come here due to moving out of the town but we had some tonight and I had to say how nice it was! Proper chippy chips, sausage wasn't too greasy and the oil obviously gets changed unlike so many around here! Will be back next time we fancy a chippy!

Well the Tram gets great reviews and rightly so. Delicious cod and chips, with Irish curry sauce and mushy peas. The menu does not appear to have a large cod option, but fear not, the standard "small" cod had to be wrestled into the paper...

A great fish and chip shop, I'd have given it 5 stars but you still have to remember to carry cash to buy food from here, this limited me as I like to buy a lot because their food is so great. Hopefully there will be a tap and pay service next time I visit. I would still highly recommend this place, (don't forget to carry cash though).

Massive portions of top quality fish and chips. Ring ahead and order haddock or plaice in advance - they are huge pieces of fish that will fill your plate on their own. One piece is easily enough for two people. Very friendly crew there and always popular. You won't be disappointed.

The food here is incredible, always fresh and tasty. I really cannot fault it. Unfortunately I cannot give them five stars due to the wait time. I queued today for over half an hour outside and they seem to prioritise phone in orders so that takes extra time then delays waiting customers with random people turning up to collect their food. That's a bit of a shame and I feel isn't fair on others.

Found this little gem while on holiday. Chips were ready and piping hot. Tasty soft fish and the Irish curry sauce was great! Friendly staff and order was with us in a flash. Good stuff.

A great find after a day walking in the forest. Be warned, the chip portions are huge. We had the leftovers for lunch the following day.

I'm used to chip shops being open for more than 3 hours, that way there's plenty of time to serve ALL the customers. I've been there twice and both times spent more than 20 minutes waiting in the street, while people who have 'allegedly' pre-ordered...
