Great pub! Needs more locals to call in and support it

Staying nearby and so walked there to grab some food after I flew in earlier today. They had finished serving much earlier and there was no roast left but they still kindly made me some fish and chips. The fish was fresh and the chips were really good. You could tell that it was freshly made with oil that was not stale. The pub was quite empty with a couple of women and their kids there and then a few other people turned up and they all started chatting and ended up singing even though they didn't know each other. It was such a great atmosphere. They started to chat with me too and made me feel very welcome even though I was not a local! Super friendly and welcoming village pub with what seems to be good traditional pub food. Will look forward to trying out the roasts on my next trip if I can arrive early enough on a Sunday. Thank you to all the people I met earlier today!

Great little pub. We had 8 people for Sunday lunch and I think they struggled a bit with that number in one go (service was slow), but food was brilliant and waitresses/ bar staff were very polite and friendly

Loved coming in for Sunday Roast. The food is great! Was really delicious, chicken perfectly tender and spiced, and very tasty cheesy cauliflower. And the staff here are very friendly. I would recommend coming in for a pint and a relaxed time.

Anita the new landlady and their family gave us a lovely warm welcome for a couple of pints Sunday. Having not been much of a regular I did noticed the improved decor, cleanliness and furniture. Great selection of beers and ales, the Guinness was perfection, so much so ‘the quick pint’ turned into 4. Welcoming me and my dad, and my four legged friend we will certainly be back as regulars.

This pub has only very recently opened, and it is very impressive. Just enjoyed a couple of great pints of Guinness in a welcoming environment. Can highly recommend this place for a warm welcome and great pint. At last North Leigh has a pub to be proud of. Wishing you every success in your new venture.

My friend & I were on an Oxford to Bath walk. This was day two & we were tired and hungry. Was told by a gentleman working in his yard that this was the pub we should go to. Best advice ever! I’ve never had a ribeye as perfect as the one cooked by the owner. We enjoyed a glass of wine, played trivia, laughed & recovered from a long day of walking. Spent time talking with owner about all our travels. He was a very interesting gentleman. It was getting late so decided we should get a taxi for last 2 miles of our hike. No one wanted to come out so owner drove us into Witney! It made for a perfect second day of our 8 day hike.

We had the most awesome lunch at The Woodman on Saturday 17/7 in their garden. There were 4 of us and my granddaughter. The tomahawk steaks were incredibly lush and juicy. Our little one had the most amazing prawns, I had the giant cheeseburger which was stacked high and gorgeous!. But the wow of the day were the incredibly juicy racks of bbq ribs, you won't find any better than those..tasty, soft, succulent. The chips and salad was fresh and tasted fab. They had some good music and my grandaughter and I had a little dance together on the decking and I threw a few grandma moves! it was such a happy, lovely day that we won't forget...many thanks Kal

This place has blown us away, amazing atmosphere, if you are a meat eater look no further. The food is amazing the staff are brilliant they can’t do enough for you, we had the bbq with the 40oz steak, me and the wife shared it, what amazing value for money

Dropped in en route to a holiday. Needed a bite to eat. Incredible spicy potato wedges and a half of cider. Perfect! Very friendly hosts.

Dropped in for a drink then had a surprising excellent Sunday lunch. They had a butternut and beetroot wellington too for veggies . New patrons trying very hard . We will be back forgot to take a photo , next time !!!

Dropped in for the steak night having booked a table. Warm welcome from the host of the ‘village pub’. Meals were prepared to a high standard representing great value. If I lived in the locality, this would certainly be ‘ my local’ well recommended

The Woodman is a very welcoming pub in the small village of North Leigh. The staff are extremely friendly and professional at all times. The food menu is varied and inexpensive. In particular the Sunday lunches are well priced with great portions (vegan options available) - highly recommended and worth booking in advance.

Felt comfortable, everyone observing the social distancing. Friendly staff. Good atmosphere.

Went to the Woodman for an evening meal to be told they did not have anything to drink or eat. Complete waste of time going.

Stopping at nearby Eynsham Hall enroute to Cornwall we called into the Woodman for a pint and a meal. Unfortunately they don't serve food on a Monday night. We decided to order a takeaway via a well known online app, guided by the local knowledge of Meg the barmaid. We stayed for a few drinks whilst waiting for our meal. Meg was very accommodating, the beer was good and the locals very welcoming. Cheers, Mark & Fiona

We popped in here for Sunday lunch before starting our journey home, after a short break in the Cotswolds...and we are so glad we did. The Sunday lunch was very tasty, the best I have had in a long, long time. If I lived locally, I would be in there every day.

I love this place from the first time I ever walked in when I moved to the village. The staff were welcoming and friendly. The two superstars are the Cooks who do an amazing job of the food. We never leave hungry and we always finish our food. Would recommend everyone to go here.

We called into the Woodman Inn for a few drinks on a Saturday night.... Whilst certainly not busy there was a nice friendly atmosphere mostly made up of locals I would say. The beer was good😀

A lovely traditional village pub. We went to play darts, our food was amazing, really good selection.

Whilst on our walk through the village we stopped at the Woodman. Husband who is always hungry convinced me to eat. This place has no heirs and graces, what you see is what you get. I think some dishes are made on site and others bought in. Prices are very reasonable for what you get. There was nothing wrong with what we had and will go back. Only down side is that people smoke by the back door and I had to walk through it and the garden could do with some TLC.

This pub has the best customer service I have ever had. The staff are amazing the food is great. The locals are very friendly. Would highly recommend this pub to anyone staying in the local area on holiday.

We have eaten here 2-3 times and on all occasions the food was brilliant and the price wasn't too expensive

We have visited North Leigh a number of times in recent years but had never been in The Woodman Inn , so having read a few favourable reviews we went with my sister & brother-in-law to have a drink and check out if we would like to return later in the week for a meal. We ordered our drinks , picked up a menu and sat in the bar area. Not for long , however, as one small loose dog and another on a lead being roughly treated encouraged us to move into the garden. It was a mild evening and we enjoyed several minutes at a table at the top of the garden , that was until the person who had been manhandling his dog came out and started to throw large pieces of wood at an equally large target just behind where we were sitting. It wasn't long before a pole in front of the target deflected one of the pieces of wood being thrown directly towards our table. I had words with the offender after which we decided to return to the safety of the bar , as shortly after he did , with dog still in tow which he continued to jerk on its lead and berate whilst at the same time feeding it bar snacks up at the bar. Needless to say we finished our drinks and all agreed we would not be back later in the week for a meal.

On a very snowy Saturday evening a family reunion for 12 almost didn't happen! But the staff pulled out all the stops. Along with help from their local customers they pulled tables together, managed to feed all of us and made us feel so welcome. The food was really good and we all had a really great get together.Nothing was too much trouble and both the staff and locals could not have done any more to make our evening memorable in the best possible way.Thankyou everyone at The Woodman Inn

This wasn’t a problem at all for the staff at the Woodman , with the help of the local people from the village, tables were given up and pushed together in a secluded area so that 12 members of a family could enjoy an evening meal . Nothing was to much trouble, a very warm welcome , service was great, full marks to the chef who pulled out the stops to feed us at short notice. If your passing the pub is definitely worth a visit .

12 of us arrived unannounced. The villagers pulled together some tables. The staff made us welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Food was tasty and arrived quickly. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening and were massively grateful to the staff and all the regulars for their warm welcome and accommodating efforts.

We were a party of 12 for dinner. The service, the food and the atmosphere were great. And the locals were very nice and friendly.

We called in lunchtime for a quick drink - there was a nice open fire and was very cosy on a cool day. The beer was a little limited ( Ruddles best) but went down ok. A pleasant place to drop in for a quick pint. No food.

Bloody awful place! Food was aweful! Move on towards Woodstock and try the George & Dragon! 10/10.

Second visit here, thoroughly enjoyed our last one and thought we'd try the good this time, really, really enjoyed it! Mark and Jean run a great pub and I highly recommend you give it a try when you're in the area.

Schöner Pub zum Essen, trinken und vor allem Fußball schauen - buntes Publikum. Das Essen war gut - wir hatten nur das für unseren Geschmack falsche Gericht gewählt. Beim Bierfestival über Ostern konnte man vieles probieren.

A restaurant with a cozy, family atmosphere and a very good barbecue. Special requests are also addressed. There is a barbecue and the place is very dog-friendly.

We are staying locally but the food at our hotel is very expensive. We found the Woodman and visited for a drink and meal. We found it to have a lovely atmosphere, friendly and efficient staff and is great value for money. We will definitely return when we are next in the area.

its a village pub with nothing unusual to say about it. Food is average, its dog friendly, no wine selection, has a beer garden for the summer. Nothing to write home about unless you live in the village

Visited here on a break away with my boyfriend, girl behind the bar was so friendly and informative of the area, we were made to feel very welcome. Ordered Chicken Club and Fully loaded fries and OMG the fries were absolutely amazing!! Whole plate of chips with chilli over the top, wasn't expecting such a big portion but so glad I got it!!

We had an evening meal here £40 for 4 including drinks , a good wholesome pub meal many thanks. The staff were very friendly and a good jukebox with all manner of music available. A 15 minute walk from Eynsham Hall hotel.

Nice pub, not far from Eynsham Hall. Menu was limited to burgers and similar, but a good range of those. Food was wellcooked, tasty, nicely presented, with generous portions. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the pub itself was clean and welcoming.

Stayed at Eynsham Hall didn't fancy the evening menu so walked up the drive and into the village across the road and left to the pub. The bar staff were extremely friendly, food delicious and extensive menu reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend

Went to the Woodman Arms while staying at Eysham Hall as we wanted somewhere quieter and cheaper. The menu was varied and good prices. The staff and locals were very friendly. The meal was excellent. Wish that it was closer to where we live, would be going all the time!

I was staying with the wife and dog in nearby Eynsham Hall Hotel but as Wales vs Belgium was on for Euro 2016 I wanted to eat where dogs are allowed and watch the game. After initial enquiries the Woodman confirm they would allow dogs, do food and they would have the game on.

I went to the Woodman for a quick drink/catch up on Saturday June 4th with a couple of friends to catch up over a drink. The bar staff were friendly, remembered orders and made us feel very welcome. Having not been to the Woodman in 2-3 years it had changed a lot!

Came here after a recommendation from someone in North Leigh. The pub is quite small and we had to park on the road nearby. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout. We had some food which was a bit different to a lot of other pubs. They had a vast selection of burgers and chicken sandwiches (chicken breast in a bun) as well as some American/South American offerings. We had a lobster and crab burger and a chicken sandwich. Both came with a lovely big side salad and were well cooked and really yummy. They did have the football on so it started to get louder. Therefore, if you prefer a quieter atmosphere, go well before a match starts or pick another day! Seems popular with locals.

Stayed here twice whilst staying at Eynsham Hall. Nice local pub, welcoming to non locals, had football on TV screens, food was cooked to order and good value. definitely recommend going here!

For the price this pub is excellent...the staff took really good care of my elderly father. Saturday night and quite noisy at first hence very good as oppose to an excellent review but this is not the pub's fault. Big portions. Tasty food. Well priced. Very kind staff. Will definitely return.

I lived in the village until 31 March 2016. Used the pub as a regular. Excellent range of changing ales always in great condition. Very friendly licensees serving good food and showing the best sporting events both rugby and football on Sky & BT. Live music usually monthly. The pub is well used by locals but also much passing through business too. If you are in the area you must visit!

Came across The Woodman by pure chance, and wasn't disappointed, good selection of ales and nice friendly atmosphere. Only stopped for a drink, but will return in the future and try the food.

This is me and my friends local to drink, the pub is decorated lovely with a friendly and helpful team. The food is outstanding and the wine is relatively cheap. Lovely place to relax with friends and good banta between staff.

This local pub has been refurbished and improved in the last few months. Before that it was not worth visiting, but now it is an attracive pub serving traditional pub food. The food portions are quite generous, but you can have a salad with your meal if you don't want chips. We were made welcome, and the service was prompt even though there were 11 of us at the same time.
