Lovely lunch - thoroughly recommend

We had a lovely afternoon tea to celebrate our friends 90th birthday 🥳

Great coffee, great breakfast, vegan veggie gf and full on. All well recommended.

Went there to meet friends & a catch up for food & drink! Food was gorgeous, done to perfection - nothing too much trouble for the staff, friendly & polite! The pub was all done up very autumnal & halloween was lovely & we all enjoyed it! Will defo go again & again 😊

THE WOODLANDS, a great dining experience. Staff are attentive .. and professional.. always happy to help.. I take dad every Tuesday.. why go anywhere else.. a great menu.. great food.. thankyou woodlands team.

Poppy's at the Woodlands, has easy accessibility, is lovely and clean. The service is great, the food is scrummy and not over priced. I'll definitely be going back.

Lovely food and staff. Only downside is that they allow dogs in, but when I asked to move they were very helpful and moved us. I just don't like to eat with dogs around. If you don't mind you can't fault the food.

Disappointing Experience Due to Dog-Friendly Policy. I had eagerly anticipated visiting this establishment for breakfast based on glowing recommendations from my partner and online reviews. However, my excitement quickly turned to disappointment upon arrival. Despite being assured over the phone that reservations were unnecessary, we were greeted with an unexpected surprise – dogs were allowed inside the eating area. As someone allergic to dogs, this posed an immediate issue. Despite informing the staff of my allergy, we were still seated uncomfortably close to a canine companion. It was a stark contrast to what we were led to believe by both the establishment and its reviews.The decision to allow dogs in dining areas raises questions about hygiene and food safety. The unmistakable odor of dogs permeating the air only exacerbated our discomfort. While I harbor no ill will towards our four-legged friends, it's the owners and proprietors who prioritize their presence over the comfort and well-being of all patrons that I take issue with.Ultimately, my partner and I made the difficult decision to leave. It's unfortunate that the establishment's dog-friendly policy overshadowed what could have been a pleasant dining experience. For those with allergies or aversions to dogs, it's a crucial factor to consider before planning a visit. As a result, they've lost our potential repeat business.

Love the Woodies! Been coming here for years and the food is always great! The pub staff are lovely and work hard to look after the customers and keep the tables clean and clear of empty glasses and plates. Especially Leanne, she is the best! 💗

1st time visit to The Woodlands for drinks & food and was not disappointed. Food is served till 7.30pm.

Great farmers market, fab quiz night on Tuesdays. Staff so friendly

The place was great service brilliant I just wish you did a regular range of sandwiches, there is a lot of bread involved in the current range unless you have soup.

Nice atmosphere particularly enjoyable when the artisan market is on.

What a shame, called in for food today after being at hospital all day, the chips were skinny fries! 👎 such a shame, we used to enjoy food here. No option of fries or chips! Steak & skinny fries doesnt cut it🤯 Other guests were also grumbling about the change & how quickly skinny fries go cold on a meal😢

Was OK.. only got chips and soup. Expected the soup to be a more homely made one but it was like heinz canned mushroom soup. Little disappointed in that! Chips was ok

Good for a cheap meal but for me it wouldn't be somewhere I would frequent- food is from chef microwave and somehow managed to be scorching hot while also being undercooked

Great place, we went for breakfast, I had the gluten free breakfast, it was lovely.

Cant comment on above as just called in for a quick drink with a friend on a week night. However, decor was pleasant & I was pleased to see that they welcome dogs & had treats for them at the bar.

A group of us called in for breakfast before work, unfortunately the rather frosty welcome from the older guy was uncalled for (this is not the first time either) Fortunately the rest of the staff and food was really nice. Perhaps some customer service training for a particular member of staff may be needed!

Went in Poppies cafe there for breakfast. Lovely food and very friendly staff we had a right laugh with them.

We visited Poppies for lunch during December, the staff are always wonderful and happy to accommodate. The food is amazing and generally a lovely place to eat. Highly recommend.

My experience was not very good it was my 60th birthday and there was 13 of us and we got put right next to the door with my 88 year old dad it was freezing!!There was plenty of unused tables when I asked to move she said she couldn't but the whole time we were there know one was on them tables!! She could have put us on the other table and just said they needed them by 4 but no!! A special birthday but sorry to say not very special for me!! 4 of us had the chicken dinner what can I say chichen was dry roast potatoes was hard not edible and the gravy well looked like tea drowning the food!! The other 9 was ok not great!! My fiancé come here for a funeral and said it was the best buffet he had ever had that's why we come here!! It was the 3rd of December we come maybe it was just an off day but I was gutted

Great community pub. Spacious, clean and great atmosphere. Food is decent and you can usually get a seat even when busy. There are quizzes and monthly independent markets held here, something for everyone. Pity there's no cask ale, but overall a great pub.

Love it, cozy in the inside with loads of seating. They also have a good seating at their beer garden. Food is affordable and was impressed with it, definitely coming back and trying other stuff. Staff were very friendly and very nice, they kept on clearing tables of glasses. Menu had good choices of food and I liked the kids menu which was very affordable too. My kids enjoyed the mini play ground at the beer garden.

Poppies at tge Woodlands is a great, the breakfasts and afternoon tea are exceptional and reasonably priced. The staff are helpful and friendly. Keep it up Poppies.

Ordered two meals lasagna good plenty to eat with salad, but hunters chicken very disappointing the plate looked bear not enough sauce but the main disappointment was the two so called chicken fillet breasts were two very thin slices mentioned to member of staff when he asked how was your meal he said he’d tell chef, disabled toilet needs the drop down bar to assist to get onto toilet replacing holes in wall where been and no disabled parking spots as need wider space for wheelchair etc, six staff on behind bar looking lost with not a lot to do but they were all lovely

Been many times over many years and always loved the Poppies. Staff great and lovely atmosphere. Complained to the waitress about the scrambled eggs being too dry today and unfortunately couldn't eat them. Was offered a replacement which I didn't want so I declined but when I came to pay was told the manager insisted I pay for the food despite not eating it. Surprised they would be happy to lose future custom over the price of an untouched scrambled egg. Left me feeling annoyed, disappointed and unlikely to return. Expected better from the Poppies as had great meals and service in the past. Not impressed.

Friendly pub with good reasonably priced menu. 3rd visit & still no real ale option ( Greene King IPA an average alternative) Needs some work on better fries. Probably 3 and a half stars.

Only called in for a drink when passing. Lovely outdoor area and spotless clean inside ..

went tonight at 4 45pm with work colleagues - staff and a man who i assume was the manager absolutely not cut out for work in hospitality - the worst attitude from staff i had ever witnessed - food average and staff coming to the table looking for empty plates and glasses every few minutes - certainly this place does not deserve your time when there are so many great places out there to eat - avoid

Love this place and usually the service is top notch however this time it was sadly lacking. We waited over an hour after ordering for the food to arrive. It was busy when we first arrived but soon emptied out people who arrived after us were being served before us. We asked the staff twice for an indication of when the food would arrive but still we waited. We will go back and hope we don't have to wait as long next time.

Place was packed at 11am on a Friday morning, which says a lot about its popularity. Very friendly service and good food too. I'd definitely go again.

Manager too busy to listen to customers, we ordered food and said we would order dessert later but wasn't told that they finish serving at 7 30 and she I asked to speak to the manager he told the staff to tell me he was busy, when he finally come out his attitude was he wasn't bothered and when I said I would be in touch with green king he said he didn't care as he was an independent pub. Not impressed with that kind of attitude to customers

Lovely beer garden so nice to sit out in x

I went there wi' the Mrs and we were proper excited to get our grub on, but it turns out we were waitin' for bloody ages just to get our order taken and they didn’t even take it! 30 minutes we waited, and nobody even came to us. I even went up to one of the waitresses and they were surprised that we hadn't been served yet, but they still didn't do anything about it! It's not like we were bein' picky or anythin', we just wanted to get some scran in us, but it seems like the staff didn't give a toss. I don't know if it's 'cause we're not posh or anythin', but that's no excuse for rubbish service. It's a shame, 'cause the place looked nice and the menu seemed good, but I won't be goin' back there any time soon if that's how they treat their customers.

I heard about how good the breakfast was at this place, and they didn't disappoint it was reasonable and the staff made you feel welcome, I will be returning

Been going for breakfast the past few months. Usually left to chat then go to till to pay when finished. Felt very rushed today. lady kept coming to table asking if can move stuff then came with machine asking if we wanted to pay.

My friend and I had afternoon tea here today. It’s honestly the best we’ve ever tasted by far. Everything was perfect- excellent service, unlimited tea or coffee, beautiful crockery and the food was gorgeous and more than enough. We took the leftovers home and I’ve just had mine for my tea. (I had afternoon tea at the Grosvenor hotel in Chester last year, Poppies at the Woodlands out classed it by a mile!!!) We’ll be back x

Absolutely shocking service tonight. We were a table of 8 adults and a child, we all ordered together expecting our meals to arrive at the same time. 4 meals arrived at the same time as the starters. Then we waited and waited. An hour after ordering we started to chase the meals. We waited about an hour 15 minutes for the child's meal and we were still outstanding 3 meals from one ticket. They eventually brought 2 meals and the chef tried arguing with me telling me that he had sent all the meals out when another member of staff shouted they had found the ticket, funny that they had served 2 meals off that ticket! I spoke to the manager who mumbled an apology and said we could have free deserts. The birthday girl cancelled her order after an hour and half waiting. At no time did the manager approach our table to apologize. This pub was recommended to me by a few people but none of us will return and I've since heard quite a few people have been disappointed too.

Best place in Warrington for breakfast and lunch. Great staff warm atmosphere and fantastic food. A must to visit.

Food and staff really good, however was surprised to find that we were charged for hot water for our tea that was too strong, think they should be clear that they do thst

Really nice pub but spoilt by too many dogs allowed in all areas of the pub. Can't find a table to have something to eat that doesn't have a dog within a couple of feet. They are all over the chairs and furniture, my wife is allergic to dog's and it's a shame we can't return because of dogs that really should have separate areas. Unfortunately everyone who owns a dog or likes dogs, thinks EVERYONE else should like dogs and this is not the case.

Good food for the price, friendly atmosphere, kid and dog friendly through the day and nice beers. A good local I've been going for years.

We were warned that there was a backup in the kitchen before we ordered so if we wanted food it could be over an hour...we were still on our first drink when it all came out of the kitchen! Staff were friendly and attentive, the atmosphere was good with booths on top of radiators so really nice after a brisk walk.

2 of these for 18quid, can't go wrong.
