Me and my partner stop off here .most Fridays after shooting range nextdoor. The staff are attentive happy and very kind and friendly and always welcome my friends and make them too feel part of the atmosphere the place is spotless toilets smell wonderfully clean although it's very busy the staff are always friendly and make sure your wait isn't too long. The Breakfast is delicious as well as lunch and very affordable they also have disabled facilities too the manager and sister are very friendly especially with my partner and the rest of the customer's looking outside in which I like very much my friends my partner always say how much they have enjoyed the day out after visiting the pub and ha ve also took their friends in the evening so yes needless to say we will be coming here for many years to come 👍

Have been here multiple times, always on a Sunday morning. Staff are always friendly & quick to serve. Food is always topped up and never have to wait in a long queue. Food it top notch and is our favourite place for breakfast!

Visited yesterday for the carvery with my son and his fiancé. The place was his idea, he'd not been before but he said from what he'd seen it looked okay. He'd obviously not read the Google reviews first. The best thing about the place was the Brewdog Wingman on draft, I like a tangy IPA. Although the meats tasted ok and texture good the portion size wouldn't satisfy a 4yr old. I had the biggest serving they do and literally with the 3 meats served, Ham Turkey and Beef combined there must've been about 3oz of meat on the plate. My son was in the queue a few places behind me, when he returned to the table his portion was overflowing with meat, probably about 18oz. Now he'd paid the same and ordered the same as me so all I can surmise is the server loads up your plate depending on his mood for you. That's the only explanation. Both my son and I are big chaps over 18st, so I'm wondering what the pitiful excuse could've been? If your face doesn't fit? The bar staff were friendly enough. The toilets, recommend you go at home first. Before you say "we'll pass along your comments" I wouldn't bother as you've replied the same thing quite a few times, so that obviously makes no difference.

Me and my partner often enjoy our time here. Staff are lovely and efficient and Lauren who makes our meals always provides quality food for both breakfast and dinner.🍕

A very nice village type pub with free ample car parking, disabled spaces available. The premises is wheelchair friendly. Outside seating is available. Food is self service for adequate portion sizes. Child meals are available. All ages welcome, highchairs are on hand if required. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. Very clean toilets that are frequently checked. The pub is situated on the A57 near to the M1 motorway between Worksop and Chesterfield. The pub itself is in the picturesque village of Barlborough which also boasts a beautiful Church.

Absolutely Shocking service. For a Monday night to have to wait 45 minutes for all other food that's not carvery. The manager couldn't care less. We had a 3 year old with us and again they couldn't care less. It shouldn't take 45 minutes to cook 2 fish coujon.

Service is absolutely shocking. For a Monday night where there's not many people in the restaurant you should be serving people quite quickly. It took 25 minutes for a single portion of chicken wings to come out. The excuse of there juggling a lot is absolutely ridiculous.. asked for the manager to the. Be told it's a 45 minute wait for non carvery food!! The person that took out order should have said from the off. The manager didn't seem to give a care in the world and tried to blame the fact they have 1 member of staff on. Absolutely ridiculous!!!! Very poor standards and staff don't care either. Would not recommended this restaurant at all.

The pub is lovely and until very recently there has never been any need to complain. I must point out also the review is for the Too good to go surprise bags and NOT dining onsite, which is excellent. I would advise anyone ordering through the too good to go app to check their collection before swiping. There was no meat on a recent roast carvery order. No care was given to filling the container, the food looked like it was literally thrown into the container and there was little gravy on one and none on the other. The roasties were in a separate bag and were dried out and inedible. Recently I had 2 breakfasts where the quality was also poor, all items chucked in the container with beans and tomatoes mixed in on top. I thought this may have improved, clearly not. I believe there has been a recent change in staff, collecting these surprise bags now feels a different experience also, no welcome , no enjoy your meal and no good bye. A million miles from where it was just a week or so ago . Too good to go were contacted and photos of the meals I received were shown to them. Their expert agreed that the food was not provided as I should have expected it and they refunded me in full. Unfortunately, I will no longer order from The Woodend until the management team provides who ever is responsible for fulfilling the orders for the too good to go bags with some relevant training on a, filling the containers, b, ensuring the right item is given to the customer and c, improvement from staff with customer relations. I hope this can be achieved as I previously enjoyed the food and thought the experience of collection and the pleasantness of the staff welcome far exceeded anything experienced by any of it's competitors.

OMG!!! I hate leaving negative reviews but at 65 years old this was the worst dining experience of my life. The place is falling to pieces. Totally neglected and unkept. More public areas cordoned off than a police murder scene (including kids play area and public access). Litter and garbage scattered everywhere. It looks like a riot zone. Totally unsafe for anyone with mobility issues. How it gets a standards rating is very questionable. My wife and I called here on the way to visit a loved one on EOLC at Chesterfield hospital. We had flown in from Portugal to say our good byes, pay our respects and support family members in a time of personal loss. We were local to the area and had enjoyed many happy meals here only 3 years ago and also at the chains sister restaurants at Glapwell and Barlborough. After the 7 hour journey and diversions due to "rain" my wife and I found ourselves passing a past favourite so decided to eat and "prepare" for the expected long night. How can a company survive if this is all they have to offer? The lady on the bar took our order in a very effective and joyous way. She was so happy when we said yes to the extra pig in blanket I actually thought she was on bonus payments. Where she went after giving us our tickets for the carvery I do not know. We had to find ourselves a table, not hard but not what one would expect. Table found, off to the carvery and stand in line behind a" just eat driver" who had not long embarked from his long journey across the channel and had found something more enjoyable to eat up his left nostril. I eventually returned to the table and took a folk from the container. The folk was covered in what can only be described as fungus. At no stage did any member of staff ask the question "is everything all right with your meal" The answer would have been "no, not one thing is right, the place has a problem with flies, there where four on my plate at one time, the food is totally awful being dried up, tasteless and over cooked and the staff have to smile and put up with the justified complaints. Worst dining experience of my life. Come back Mum. The liver was not all that bad XXXX

Visited for family birthday and cannot fault the staff or food! Beef at carvery melted in your mouth and all veg was well cooked with great taste. All staff were helpful and very friendly. We will be visiting again soon, thank you.

What a fantastic place. Great atmosphere, very attentive and professional staff, lovely real ale, the food was beautiful in both taste and presentation and I won a cuddly Ninja Turtle on the toy crane machine on the first go. Five stars plus. Jonny Huckerby.

Both had carvery. Stuffing was in big lumps, too hard to break up. Mash had a crust on been stood that long. Not very nice at all.

Not sure why but anything that's not carvery-related or ordered through Uber-eats seems to take extra long to arrive at the table. I waited just over half-an-hour for my fish and chips (granted, I was warned about this), my son and son-in-law waited over three-quarters of an hour for their burgers. Was tempted to order something from a takeaway in Clay Cross and see which arrived first.

Just had a carvery Yesterday. I went to the toilet and I am very disgusted by the Mould smell, the mould is all over. That isn't very healthy..

Awful awful awful breakfast. No mushrooms but the sign is left up saying add mushrooms. No working toaster but not told this when we paid. Had I known, we'd have gone elsewhere. Bacon was so salty it was inedible. Raw potatoes. Not a lot of choice. Definitely won't be going back. Avoid. Go to Bartlewood Lodge in Ilkeston, same brewery but far superior to these. And theres a proper coffee machine thats free with breakfast.

Nice calzone and pizza, that if you have the patience to wait about 30 to 50 minutes. They prioritise delivery services and takeaway. Because of that the patrons at the table have to wait for kitchen orders. Carvery is always available . The staff is nice and kind.

4 of use had carverys today on 05.08.24 . It was very nice but the beef was not very nice.

Amazing little pub, even during a busy service which this place tends to be during the evenings, the chefs work hard to cook food for a lot of people. Great atmosphere, quickly prepared food and very tasty. Will definitely be back

I only went because I was told that it had improved but sadly as far as I could tell there has been no change since I last visited the food is flavourless and the mash and roast potatoes were full of black eyes that you couldn't find one fork full or a single roast that was clean I could go on but feel it would be a waste of time as this seems to be the same standards as several Stonehouse and toby premises

My favourite place ever come so often food is banging carvery everyday like period that's what I'm talking about they even do a breakfast thing in the morning forgot what is called like a breakfast carvery and you can get what u want this is the place to go if u want amazing food and drinks and guess what free parking

Been visiting Woodend, for over ten years now. Visited for breakfast, various carveries, and usually book a table at Christmas for me, grandchildren, their mother and a couple of friends. Always welcomed with a smile, and a chat , and always leave well replete with the lovely food. Have recommended to various friends, one who lives in Spain, and says he can't get a carvery style meal in Spain to compete with the food at Woodend. ( he lives near Benidorm, btw.) Was in there for breakfast ,yesterday, and will no doubt be there again in the week to come. Myself and my friend have both become disabled since we first visited, and I will mention that the disabled toilet is checked regularly, and is always spotless.

I received an email offering 25% off food so I decided to treat the whole family. I explained that I was ordering some starters while we waited for some of our party who had been delayed. I wasn't allowed to open a tab, (??!) so I paid for the starters and used the voucher. When I returned to order all the other starters and main courses, I was told I could use the voucher because it had been used once already. What a con!! Why wasn't I told that with my first order?? She knew what I was doing!! Also had to send most meals back due to being cold and crusty through being left out. Whole experience was terrible.

Normally my wife and I look forward to our carvery at the Woodend and we have enjoyed quite a few visits in the past. Sadly, today, we were somewhat disappointed with the food. We ordered two small Turkey carvery meals and we would normally get about three decent slices of meat. Today just one and a half very thin slices. The roast potatoes were not fully cooked and you couldn’t even cut the cauliflower stalks with a knife. The prices have gone up slightly ( though still very reasonable) but the food quantity and quality seem to be heading in the opposite direction. I hope in part that it was because we arrived after the normal lunchtime ‘rush hour’- about 1.30 pm.

Went in and ordered via the app, was given the option to choose for the kids meals to come out asap or with mains so ticked asap. By the time we had finishes the kids food still wasn’t here so I went up to check (there wasn’t many people in either) asked at the counter to be told by a young lady the chef is plating yours now.. as I walked away I heard the chef turn round to the girl and say “well that’s what you get for having your carvery before your kids food arrives dosent it” I did stop and was going to turn round and confront him but I didn’t want to make a scene espically infront of my children. When the kids food was brought I mentioned to the girl that o heard what he said and I’m not happy about it and that his customer service was shocking, to which she replied “yeah he’s always like that people comment about his bad service all the time. I was going to speak to the management about it but clearly after that comment they don’t care either.

Travel to get here most weekends for the food

Ordered a carvery to collect via an app and arrived to find super friendly staff who sorted out a huge portion of tasty food for me …good priced food, great range of choices on the menu and most importantly staff who seem happy to be there, having banter with the customers - perfect place for a carvery locally

Purchased a "BIG EATER" for my child aged 11 and when it arrived it had nine chips on the plate,when a questioned and asked for more chips i was told " this is our portions".I was shocked and had to purchase a extra bowl of chips.We as a family go out most weekends for family time and a nice meal,I will not be going to one of your establishment's again. Regards Richard Hi your reply is false because how are your children supposed to help themselves to carvery when they haven't purchased one.Plus nobody told us they could,even if you could get veg.

three couses meal under £14 was money for value during monday to friday. however, the meats were small in carvery. go large for carvery was £2 extra.

Carvey was awful! The place needs some serious TLC! The man behind the bar was lovely, though.

Food was lovely (breakfast) staff didnt really explain what to do if you'd never been there before with teas coffees for example, we go quite often and we have never had someone come and take our dirty plates away whilst we've still been sat down. We like another cuppa and a chat afterwards but don't like our dirty plates still on the table.

We come here as our monthly treat for a Sunday carvery because it is the best carvery I've ever had in my life. Staff are super friendly, helpful and accommodating. Highly recommend

We like it here it's not a bad place to eat and good prices too and to top it of the staff are great two. Can get very busy so booking is advised

Good selection of food for veggies like us. Nice to see the fishless fish fillet with chips and garden peas which we chose. Good portion as well. Good starter choice as well and the berry sundae was great. Attentive staff and very friendly. Can imagine that it gets busy on summer Sundays but it didn't seem overcrowded. All in all very good.

Family of 5. Carvery was OK. Decent selection. Kids meals though for bigger kids (up to 12yrs) very poor. Nuggets we're small and limited amount of meat within. 9 chips and that's it. Apparently each serving is specifically weighed to this amount. Would have been cheaper and more filling had they had mcdonalds and that's saying something! Won't be in a rush to return.

Everything was great thank you from the friendly efficient bar service, the deliciously hot food to the friendly waitress who cleared our plates. We will be back and would definitely recommend.

Edit 17/05/24 Rated five stars now because there's a good reason for not letting non-service dogs in. The food here is good and cheap, and you pretty much know what you are getting, Four stars instead of five because there's no dogs allowed in, and country pubs should have dogs... But guide dogs and service dogs are allowed, so don't be put off if you have one of those.

Excellent Carvery, friendly helpful staff. My favourite place.

Have been coming here for years...its our family go-to carvery. In more recent visits, it's been made even better by the young man taking our order at the till, such a pleasant, customer service focused approach (a million % better than the previous male staff member that manned the till!!!)

Can't fault the restaurant's food but the delivery companies they use are conmen. Food not delivered and then pops up on the app saying its been delivered. Can't get hold of the restaurant has they won't answer the phone. AVOID just eat if you don't want to get ripped off! Over £20 down, wasted over an hour trying to sort it out and ordered from somewhere else that actually gets the food to you. Still waiting to get a refund!

Exalent. Good food so I've been told and an excellent range of beers. I've sampled some. All in all would deff recommend.

We visited for the buffet breakfast this morning and it was lovely! There was plenty of choice on the hot plate and we ordered the unlimited coffee so could help ourselves when we wanted more. There wasn't a queue to order or when we went up for food even though there were a lot of people in the pub so it was very organised. Pleasant staff. Starter (3 plates - halloumi fries/ chicken / mushroom) was a bit over done but edible. Delicious blue cheese dip. Burger was lovely & so was pepperoni pizza.

The pub is really run down, pretty unkempt, staff didn't seem to know what they were doing and the food was poor. Definitely not our favourite place

Had a carvery delivered to eat with a friend who is house bound for a birthday lunch. Food was excellent potions were large and they had put in extras and a happy birthday message. You made us very happy thank you so much we really enjoyed it as no longer able to visit together you made an elderly lady very happy as well! Xxx😁

Absolutely love this place. We've been there several times, everytime food is delicious. And it’s not pricey. Carvery, fish and chips and pizza is our favourite and of course delicious chocolate brownies Staff always friendly. I'm a bit picky when in comes to food, but this place... i can highly recommend ❤️

I do like the woodend pub but the experience could be better. Staff were not the best at times although some are nice and couldn’t help anymore than they do. Sometimes the food is great annd I really enjoy it other times it’s abit poor. It’s hit and miss here some days we have the best experience with lovely food and other times it can be a little poor. Prices keep creeping up but I guess everything is!

We go to woodend Stonehouse quite often as the atmosphere is great the service was fantastic & the food was superb as I am vegetarian the meat free

My sister and I enjoy regular visits here for either Breakfast or carvery. We always enjoy, very good value.
