Have just visited The Woodberry,BridgnorthAs a family of 8.The service we received was excellent, Value for money was spot on!

Fantastic Sunday Lunch at a great price. A bit of each meat and all the extras you'll ever need without the need to ask. Highly recommend. Thankyou 😁

We have stayed here on 4 previous occasions always for 2 nights during November as a group of 5 friends. Between our last stay and this occasion the business has changed hands and while before it was excellent the changes the new owners have made and the standards are better than ever. From greetings on arrival to quality of service friendliness of all staff and an attitude of ' nothing is too much trouble' we could not have asked for more. We enjoyed evening meals and full English breakfasts and the quality and presentation of both was superb. Speaking to the owners it was clear they have further plans for the place that should ensure even better facilities. We wish them all the very best and look forward to our next visit Ian +

The bedrooms are nicely decorated, clean, and warm. Good sized shower, fluffy towels and with a decent shower too. The pub area is very welcoming, very clean and again, tasteful decor. Breakfast was tasty, with a good selection. Very friendly staff on the evening and morning shifts. I would recommend and would use Woodberry Inn again, should I visit Bridgnorth in the future. This is a copy of an email I sent to the manager 48 hours ago. As I have yet to receive any response to my email, I feel it is appropriate to now post on this forum...... I am extremely disappointed at the service we received tonight at your establishment for several reasons. Firstly, 2 diners from a booking of 6, who ordered pie of the day, received their food and the pie was only lukewarm. When mentioned to the waitress, they were swiftly removed and we waited for fresh ones to be prepared. The other 4 diners carried on with their meals. When our new meals were brought out, the man serving them apologised and said he had suitably chastised the kitchen. We were not offered another drink or anything whilst we were waiting. Secondly, when my mum went to pay the bill, there was no reduction for our inconvenience. Thirdly, when I asked a gentleman if he was the boss, and explained my dissatisfaction about the events of the evening, he said he would get the manager to come and speak to me. Next thing I knew, the same gentleman returned with a card for me to email or phone next time I came in and they would sort something out. I asked where the manager was to be told he was too busy to come and speak to me. I replied that as I wouldn't be returning, it was pointless giving me the business card for a deal on my next visit. How disappointing that no-one from management was available to speak to me. Surely a manager should be available to deal with customer queries and/or complaints? It is too late to offer any form of apology or reduction now, the moment has passed. But surfice to say we will not be returning and will not be recommending our friends and family. Oh and an aside, the fire exit in the restaurant is blocked by a table, I am sure that is highly illegal? I look forward to a response from you regarding these matters.

Great breakfast and staff are friendly and helpful 100 % recommended and will be staying again only a 15 minute walk to town and 25 minute stumble back

Very very disappointing...we booked for Sunday lunch..big mistake. We were not greeted on arrival, there wasn't even anyone behind the bar for us to let them know we had arrived.... But from there it went downhill....we were put on the smallest table in the furthest corner despite there being lots of much nicer empty tables available..we eventually managed to order drinks and asked to order food..The waitress mumbled something and walked off....a lovely young man delivered our drinks and said the young lady would be back.....when she returned to take our food order we asked what she had said, apparently it was they had lamb....then we tried to order but what she actually meant was they only had lamb nothing else and mostly no veg either...one of our party doesnt eat red meat so lamb wasnt an option but the waitress did nothing to try to help the problem...no offer to check if the kitchen could help.....I really could understand this situation if we were walk ins but we had booked...they knew we were coming....why would you not attempt to provide at least one other choice We drove to Bridgnorth from Shrewsbury to take some family out for a treat and thats the best they could offer....obviously we will not return.

Fantastic evening at the Woodbury.. Absolutely outstanding food (compliments to the chef) and service. The waitress couldn’t have done more, a credit to the pub! Topped off with live music in the garden that set a perfect background for a lovely evening of food and beer. Will be back again soon 😁

We stayed for 2 nights on the bank holiday weekend & thoroughly enjoyed it. We were greeted on arrival & shown to our room by Lee, our room was very clean & large enough for us, the bed was very comfortable...the next morning we had an excellent breakfast...The Woodberry is a clean & well kept venue, & all the staff are very courteous & helpful, we will definitely return again some time. Bridgnorth is an interesting place to visit, with lost of pubs serving meals, lots of tea rooms, & sights to see, & is only a 15 min walk away. Thank you to all the staff at The Woodberry for an enjoyable weekend break for us.

Lovely location with great outdoor atmosphere in nice weather

Went in recently for a weekday lunch, having previously visited 3 years ago and had a lovely meal. The website boasts menus galore and "food served all day" - not so I'm afraid. A very limited number of light bites and sandwiches only (some of those were unavailable). We were told the main menu was only available in the evening. Nowhere on the website does it stipulate this. We would've got up and left had we not already been served our drinks. A very disappointing experience. We won't be returning if we're in the area again.

Great Sunday lunch at a great value. Actually had mine plated up as wasn’t feel well at the time. Staff helpful and the beef was beautiful.

I was staying here as I was going to a wedding nearby, it is very close to the centre of Bridgenorth which was great. Parking onsite is always a win. Getting to the rooms was simple and easy even after the pub was closed, the room itself was a little small and you can hear everything in the corridors but other than that it was a great stay, as it was a hot weekend when I went there was a fan in the room which was needed. The breakfast was fantastic, the food was excellent and you could help yourself to juice, water and cereal.

I recently visited The Woodberry for an anniversary meal and was quite disappointed with the experience. The menu had recently changed and was significantly reduced, with about half the food options unavailable. This was quite a letdown for what was meant to be a special occasion. While the venue itself is beautiful, the limited menu and lack of available dishes made it far from an ideal choice for celebrating an important event. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend The Woodberry for a special occasion.

Friendly service, great food & very good value for money.

I wanted to give this place a go. Lovely welcome by the female member of staff, very approachable. The young male member of staff was very helpful.(he said he doesn't normally work front of house, however he was polite and funny and definitely an asset to the business) Both staff where approachable and we were impressed at both of their level of service. Despite a rude table behind us (which staff handled phenomenally) we didn't let it spoil our evening. Food was fantastic 😋 I'll forgive the chamomile tea 🍵 and will definitely be returning very soon.

Absolutely fantastic sunday lunch, easy to book over the phone, lovely dining area, great atmosphere, wonderful staff and excellent food with plenty of delicious veg and good quality meat. Will definitely be going back

It’s been awhile since we’ve been to Woodbury as we had moved away from the area. As we had returned on holiday, we decided to treat ourselves and family members to a meal at the Woodbury. but as soon as we were seated and the man arrived it was clear quality of the menu had gone downhill. Ping food, fried food, Convenience food. I suspect nothing was made on the premises. Very disappointed, and I think the fact that there were very few diners Indicates this is an ongoing trend. I had a hunch that the pub had changed hands so I checked and was advised that yes it had and I believe now it is a chain pub. It’s a real shame as this was a restaurant/pub for a treat as the food was Of high Quality. I doubt we will be back.

Not at all the standard of food you used to get. Seemed to be more fried/ convenience food. The quality has gone. Not where you would come for a special meal. There are so many great pubs/restaurants around the area , The Woodberry really need to up their game and get back to doing what they used to do really well. Start with good quality ingredients. The ham was not 2 thickly hand cut slices, but was 3 slices of packaged ham. Generally, a meal that could be easily put together at home. I presume that there is no longer a tie-in with the local butcher. The staff were all very pleasant and polite.

We had been here on several occasions and had a good experience. However, more recently it was the complete opposite. We had visited for Sunday lunch,if you could call it that ! I had the roast beef which was so tough I couldn't get a knife through it, even a steak knife!! The vegetables were bland and only 2 small potatoes served. My partner had a steak pie which was awful too. I mentioned several times to the waiting staff about my meal and they said they'd mention it to the chef, nothing else was offered. When presented with the bill an adjustment of £3 had been made for a meal which couldn't be eaten!!!! Disgusting!!! The staff seemed very young and inexperienced, I didn't recognise anyone from our previous visits. I did think it was very quiet for a Sunday lunchtime, now I know why!!!! Far better places to visit!

I do not normally write reviews, but this place deserves a special mention. I stayed here with my wife and our dog for one night. Exceptional stay. The new manager Lee made us feel extremely welcome. We had booked an evening meal here, but Lee rang us en-route to advise the chef had to go away on an emergency. Lee advised other local establishments to eat, which were dog friendly. We were grateful for this. Breakfast was also amazing. Thank you Lee to you and your team.

My grandmother’s wake for 25 people was due to be held in the Woodberry, however with just over a week to go, they suddenly cancelled. They said unexpected work had arisen & the pub had to close. It was later admitted they’d known about it for several weeks. Why on earth they left it until the eleventh hour to inform us is a complete mystery and very cruel. Landing this kind of awful surprise on a grieving family is nothing short of heartless. Unbeknownst to us, they also didn’t bother to inform our family members who’d booked overnight accomodation until a few days before they were due to arrive from Northern Ireland! Talk about salt in the wounds! Not only were we forced to search for a new venue for the wake but also hotel rooms at the last minute. If you decide to book an event at the pub please do so with extreme caution. The new owners, the Valiant Pub Group, seem disorganised and sadly have been unwilling to fully engage on this issue. I’m disappointed and upset & wouldn’t wish for another family to be faced with this treatment.

Really poor food. Pub food at restaurant prices. I felt like everything had come out of a microwave packet and nothing was fresh. £7 for ice cream Staff are friendly and kind but really disappointed with the food standard.

I was taken to The Woodberry and recommended by friends to sample the steak pie. It was very well presented and the pastry was enjoyable but the contents therein were much to be desired. The meat was very tough and chewy which I pointed out to the waiter and he said he would mention it to the chef. After the waiter had disappeared I was told by my friends that a butcher actually owned the property! Not a particularly good advertisement I must say.

We went to the Woodberry yesterday for a family Wake. The food and service was excellent. Really good quality food and a great choice. Could not fault it at all. Would highly recommend.

Not been here for some time,standard has gone down re food.smaller portions, not a very good menu,not outstanding as it was prior to today.my pie was small in size plenty of meat but more fluid in it than anything else which made the pastry uncooked below the crust.the fish also was watery as the spinach had not been squeezed to extract the water.all in all a very ,very disappointing experience. The desserts where ok but nothing to shout about.

A comfortable well appointed room and a nicely made breakfast did little to off set the debacle of a night in the Woodberry. Upon check in for an overnighter, we were informed that there was a 21st birthday party that night. There was a disco (which turned out to be more techno boom beat rap than disco) which finished at 12am. Whoop whoop..., Our room actually vibrated with the beat. Sleep? No chance, not a hope. So our two star review is based on the fact that we received no warning of this event and had what should have been a comfortable night away ruined. What are you The Woodberry, a country pub with rooms or a night club? Your marketing suggests the former but our experience of your business was of the latter (and no this wasn't a one off, as others in our party had the same experience the night before as well). Positive mention in respect of the Manager who went put of his way to fire fight an unresolvable situation created by a 'car crash' of a booking strategy.

Booked 3 rooms for family to stay. Rooms were spacious and clean. Sunday dinner was amazing and shouldn’t be missed. Would recommended

Absolutely terrible. Don’t bother. We came here a couple of years ago for a Sunday roast and it was absolutely rammed with people and the service and food was great. We tried this place again today and we found out why on a Sunday at peak time why it was virtually deserted. Terrible service and terrible food! We ordered as a party of 3, 2 meals came out first the 3rd was delayed by 5 mins so we sent the first 2 meals to go back to keep warm while they prepared the other meal. The one meal needed to be reheated further and the delayed lasagne meal was actually overdone, dry and burnt!! The chips were undercooked and the gravy literally was water thin! They also forgot the Yorkshire puddings and extra ciabatta bread which we had to remind them about. We weren’t asked about allergies or if our food was ok during the meal. A lot of the food was just left. Eventually someone came to see us and we explained the about the chips and lasagne and said the reheated meal was rubbery. They took off the price for the lasagne and chips but nothing on the rubbery meal. We said we were not happy and were handed the bill. We were kept waiting by around 15 mins for someone to come and take payment for the bill which just made things a lot worse. We just wanted to get out of there and go elsewhere. Terrible all around. Poor service, too many mistakes, low quality food and the complaint just wasn’t handled adequately at all. We certainly won’t be returning.

Me and my partner visited for food and the experience wasn't as amazing as it has been before. When we arrived we were quickly seated by a lovely gentleman. We waited 10/15 minutes to order drinks and in our order we asked for a jug of water which never arrived with our drinks. When we ordered our food, again we asked for some water. Again no jug of water in sight. The staff behind the bar were very loud and the conversations, I don't believe should be a public conversation. When our food arrived, we again asked for a jug of water, which again never arrived. I went up to the bar to get some water where I could hear the gentleman behind the bar huffing and puffing. Once we had finished our food, we were still sat at the table with plates until we left 20-30 minutes later. The plates were still infront of us when we paid our bill and got ready to leave. We did actually want dessert but our table was avoided. On a positive note the food tasted great and the waiting times for the food was short. Their lasange is amazing! Highly recommended! Chips were lovely and salad was fresh!

First time here for food and first off the staff. We’re great. Food good but I’ve had better. Lovely summers night in beer gardner spoilt by a group of men half cut. Very load and very bad language. Not ideal for a family meal out.

Went to the restaurant on a Saturday night to celebrate an 18th birthday. Booked in advance. Food and service were exceptional. Cannot praise the food and service enough. Highly recommended

Stayed here for two nights as base for a family wedding. It was perfect...rooms were clean and more than adequate. Stayed 2 nights with family whilst attending a wedding nearby, really friendly staff, food for the evening meal we had and both breakfasts was excellent and rooms clean and comfortable. Couldn’t fault it, we had an excellent stay and the manager and team could not have been more helpful and nice

We stayed for six nights and the hotel was brilliant. We were attended to as we walked walked through the door. Sunday lunch was in full swing but we were found a table for a snack with no problems. We had breakfasts and two dinners at the hotel and all food was very good. By the time we left we almost felt part of the family and wouldn't hesitate to stay again

Disappointed, cold food served Sunday roast. Staff asked was everything ok? I replied no, cold. Brought out another replacement, still tepid and Luke warm gravy, then frozen vegetables for three people served on side plate. Hence, trying to put veg on plate was a nightmare, ,most of it dropped on the table. when I asked for the manager there wasn’t anyone on site, except staff with little experience. Went back to see deputy manager, who promised call back. But no response!! Lovely setting but not run efficiently. What a shame, little choice in the town. Just pub grub, @ inflated prices.

We stayed at The Woodberry on a Saturday evening. Room was beautiful, very clean and a comfy large bed. Evening meal excellent as was breakfast. Staff were professional and attentive. Great value, great stay. We will certainly return

Sunday lunch was a huge disappointment , poor quality , fatty meat, Luke warm vegetables and half cooked roast potatoes! Pate looked like a dollop of cat S…t on a plate , thankfully tasted better than it looked.

It is a 5-10 minute walk out of the town but was worth the effort. Had a great family meal with a mix of burgers and fish and chips. Despite the fact we chose very boring options, the quality of the food was absolutely excellent....

even a basic chef would know what a bed of crispy lettuce is! not a soggy mess on a plate. saute potato is not left over boiled potato cut in half thrown in a fryer! overcooked food. £83 for a very poor meal for 2.

Little gem in the heart of Bridgnorth. Very popular with the locals if you are ever in these parts give it a try you won’t be disappointed

This place is a real gem, the rooms are beautifully decorated, staff are great. They accommodated me an early check in so I was able to dress for a wedding and not have to pop back during the day to check in.The breakfast was top draw. And although I wasn’t able to stay for lunch or an evening meal the menu looks great and when I passed through the restaurant at lunchtime, the food looked great.

What a wonderful stay. As soon as we walked through the door, we were welcomed by the lovely friendly owner.We were shown to our room. It was spotlessly clean, with a lovely powerful shower and nice small touches like bottles of water and toiletries. We stayed for dinner, which was delicious and the staff couldn't do enough for you. They were excellent. We sat by the cozy log fire afterwards for a drink in the bar and it was just perfect. Breakfast in the morning was one of the best breakfasts we've had. Delicious!Definitely recommended. We will certainly return.

The staff were super helpful and the food as heaven. The only downside was the food was so tasty & filling we couldn't fit in desert. We had the duck pate for a starter and pies for the main, OMG mouth watering. If we didn't live 2 hours away we would eat there weekly.

Visited with my mother for some lunch on the 16th of December. She has celiac disease, so hence has to eat gluten free. We were at first impressed as the menu clearly marks what items can be altered to be gluten free. She chose the gluten free fish and chips, and then the gluten free fruit crumble. Just 2 hours after eating, she starts to become violently ill. This is 100% from the fruit crumble, as it’s exactly 2 hours after it, which is the usual time frame for this sort of thing. We have immediately rang the pub to explain, only to be told it was “just a mix up in the kitchen” and to be offered a free meal the next time we come. This is just ridiculous. This is an extremely serious matter, and they don’t at all seem to care that much at all. My mother will be ill for the rest of the night now. What if this was a peanut allergy? This should be taken much more seriously! A “mix up” should not be able to happen in the kitchen when someone’s health is concerned. Especially when there were only 3 tables in the pub! So there’s not even an excuse of it being busy. I do not recommend eating here if you have any sort of allergy, small or large. It’s not worth the risk. And we will be in touch with the food standard agency tomorrow.

Visited this restaurant to celebrate three family birthdays. I have dined here on several occasions, but this last one was a disaster. Waited ages for meal to arrive and that was only after we asked where it was. It was impossible to eat the chips, they appeared to have been left under a heat lamp, you could not cut them with a knife and fork, but you could snap them in two between your fingers. I was celebrating my daughters birthday, my sons birthday and my son in laws who all had birthdays this week. It was supposed to be special occasion, as I rarely see my daughter on her birthday. We did complain about the standard of the meal. I was very disappointed that our celebration was ruined. Will not returning to the restaurant again. Considering the price of the dishes, not value for money.

Today was an awful experience. Met my family for lunch to celebrate a birthday. Ordered our food and had to ask the staff after about 45minutes where our food was?. On our prompt the food came out. Cajun chicken, salad and chips. The salad was good, the chicken cooked well but cajun spice thrown on not marinated the chips were the most awful chips I have ever been served, pork scratchings would have been softer! Over priced and very disappointed with the food. Also sat by a fire escape door which is blocked by a table, how does that pass a fire inspection? We did complain about the food, with the staff saying they would pass on our comments to the kitchen. Very disappointed today.

Stayed 1 Friday night, lovely clean room (perhaps a little too warm for us), very ample car parking which helps our decision to stay versus other options, very good evening meal and breakfast and lovely atmosphere; generally all very good.

Was taken for my birthday and what a treat! Excellent decor and ambiance. We all chose the pie which was turkey and sweetcorn served with green peas, chips and a very tasty jug of gravy.Absolutely full of white turkey breast with a thin tasty pastry case.Filled us up so much we could not manage a sweet! Service was perfect and staff efficient and friendly. Now it is my favourite restaurant.

booked this place yesterday for Sunday lunch for myself and two friends and was very enjoyable good selection of meals and deserts look forward to going again, and especially to dan our host and sarah thanks a real credit to making it an enjoyable Sunday lunch

Not impressed with the latest menu. Lighter option choices are no longer available. We felt food was overpriced - fish and chips (which was average) £14.25. I asked for a glass of house wine - £8.25. So 2 fish and chips and 2 drinks £41.00. The Woodberry was nicely updated and gained a great reputation, but at the end of the day it's a pub and we felt overpriced. Service was good.

Stayed here for 1 night B&B as we were attending a wedding in Bridgnorth. Myself and other family members took up most of the rooms. We were allowed to check in early, which we really appreciated. All rooms were immaculate, and decorated so nicely (along with the rest of the pub/restaurant) . The room wasn’t very big, so we found it a bit hot and stuffy. We had a fan in the room, so that helped. Bed was a tad uncomfortable, two queens pushed together, so a big ridge down the middle. Breakfast the next morning was nice, it did take a good 40 mins to arrive, 8 of us did sit down and order at the same time, which may have been the issue (we were the only 8 people in the restaurant for breakfast I might add - and two of those where children who only wanted some bacon/sausage)Waitress was friendly enough. Would return to try the food on an evening as it looks nice on other reviews.Probably wouldn’t stay overnight again

Very welcoming and a lovely meal with great service. Food tasted fresh and lots of flavour. Also good choice of beer. Will definitely be going back.

Stayed here for two nights(19&20August 2021) Two Evening meals and breakfast.Food was very good,though breakfast was lacking a better cereal option than the cereal box choice,and one jug of milk.Evening meals were better,Sea Bass were well cooked and tasty,a three course probably best option as the main course was small for a big eater.Ok prices for Alcohol.Food prices were reasonable.Waiter service very good,no long waiting time for food.Our stay for two nights was a mistake,we should have stayed at a hotel.Pubs are noisy,and sleep was not possible in our room until gone 11pm.Our room was above the kitchen,and every time the kitchen door was used you would have a thud when the door shut.We did raise this with manageress in the morning ,apparently no one had highlighted this before,so no action was taken.Double bed poor,(2 singles put together,ridge in the middle very uncomfortable,a “topper “above would have helpedSumming up,have a meal there,but sleep elsewhere.

Just had a delicious dinner for 2. Tasted like home cooked food. Service and price also excellent. Highly recommended.

Food was nice, service was quite poor. Staff were all friendly and polite but weren't very attentive. We're left that long for puddings we didn't want them by the time they came to take our order. Was left waiting a long time after having the bill to actually pay.Would come again as food was nice but maybe not on a Friday night and wouldn't have high expectations.The menu could be bigger too, not that much choice for mains

I can’t really put a finger on one thing but it didn’t inspire me to rate this place any better than just a decent pub. Even though we booked a table and we were the only people in the restaurant we were rushed to our table rather than enjoying a drink in the bar prior to the booked time. The food was well made especially the pie but there didn’t seem to any care in the presentation. The table was grubby without any dressing apart from the old cutlery. The staff were very attentive but there didn’t seem to be any organisation. If your after really good pub food this place will do very nicely but labelling it as a gastro pub is a little bit of a push.

We stayed over on Thursday 27th May 2021. This was our second stay at the Woodberry Inn and everything, once again, was great: our room was spacious, clean and very comfortable, and the food (3 course dinner and full English breakfast) was all excellent. All staff we encountered were friendly, attentive and efficient. Thanks for a lovely break, our first in quite a while and much anticipated!
