Food,service excellent one downside. Starters do not arrive with the appetisers. Starter was returned under the heat. Lamb koftas starter were dry on return. Should have sent them back.

Called in and had a lovely meal. Excellent iPad to help with dietary requirements. The pub is bright and popular with locals calling in for a drink or meal after work. The staff were efficient and welcoming.

Family birthday celebrations. Food was fantastic as was the service. A little bit of a delay, but we were kept informed and it was worth the wait. We'll definitely go back.

Enjoyable evening at The Grapes. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. The food was decent - see below for portion size. We ate 1 hour after arrival, but it was a Saturday evening to be fair. They add 20% service fee to your bill which we weren't anticipating. One course worked out about £30 a head. Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff if you fancy a nice meal out.

I once said excellent, but today was terrible. The service was the worst, I understand they may be short staffed, so why not take more staff on when you have so many bookings. 35 minutes before our drink order was taken, another 15 minutes before we received them, having to call staff to our table to ask if we can give them our order. Seeing our meals on the service waiting to be collected and given to us, by which time the meal was warm. Ordering our dessert with coffees, the coffees were made, and we could see them waiting to be sent over to us, but we were told "we have bigger parties to serve and it has only been 11 minutes since you ordered them" and promptly walked off. Another 6 minutes until they were given to us, by which time they were cold. Asked for a replacement coffee, no apology, no words at all, just carried over and left on the table. The chefs we can see are working hard, but their efforts go to waist as the food is collected and handed out after it had been left on the top and going cold. After loving this place, it is hard to say the manager has let it down. Cancelling a booking made for the new year, better service in McDonald's.

The menu is a little more upmarket than your usual pub off the side of an A road. Charging prices to match but on the whole the staff were friendly on arrival but service during the meal was strained, ordering of a second drink was difficult

Great place to come for occasions, Was a bit busy tonight so had to wait longer than expected but food was amazing.

We booked in for afternoon tea on a Saturday afternoon, the place advertises itself as pretty upmarket and polished but the reality left a lot to be desired. I'm not a complainer by nature, so it's tricky when things are disappointing to speak up. This was just one of those moments. I'm not going to complain as it would certainly take more effort for me to complain than the staff were prepared to put into serving. As always, I just won't go back and withheld the tip to show, in a very British way, just how annoyed I was. The staff were dreadful, hassling us for a drinks order before we had even sat down. The drinks arrived and we didn't have any other contact until half an hour later when the afternoon tea was plonked onto the table. Plonked as in knocked my hand away in the hurry to put it down. 'yes it's for two people ' was the only speech before the waitress headed off. I should mention that when we arrived we did say we were here for afternoon tea and had no dietary requirements. Although the fact there was literally nothing to say about the afternoon tea speaks volumes. Personally, when the lady delivered the food I would have assumed it was a reasonable point to ask if we would like some tea with our afternoon tea. Unfortunately it took another 15 minutes to get some attention to order that and even then there was no choice offered or any mention that there was complimentary refills. Having failed dismally with service and delivery, you might think that the actual food would make up for it, but alas no. Sandwiches were ok but not great, the prawn sandwiches must have been kept uncovered in the fridge as the bread on these was going crispy. The fish cake was pretty good but the falafel was laughably bad. I mean dense frozen party food style. The cakes were mixed. The lemon tart packed a punch but had soft/soggy pastry like it had been kept around a bit too long. The Bakewell slice was pretty good but the brownie was not. It was more like a thin layer of brownie on top of a torte. Either way, not tasty enough to justify the calories. To top it off, literally, were the scones which unbelievably were very badly made! The rise was non existent and as such the top half was edible but the bottom half was just dough. The jam seemed to be some kind of syrup, it wasn't all the things you associate with good jam, instead it was cloying and sweet. I could feel it on my teeth for hours afterwards. As an opportunity to demonstrate to customers that they should come back for a proper meal it was an abject failure. I would question paying £15 for scallops made in a kitchen that can't make scones or falafel. This sort of place staying in business amazes me, the fact that people return there amazes me. I can only assume that some kind of kitchen disaster occured which led to our poor experience and that usually they aren't that bad

Can not thank the colleagues there enough . Our anniversary plans went to pot and a last minute rush to salvage the night ended with some fantastic food ..many thanks to you all.

Had a superb lunch (Wednesday) at the Grapes. Several menus to choose from; a La carte, Wednesday fixed menu and their festive fixed menu. All filled with great choices and at great rates. We chose from the Wednesday menu, two courses each for £30 and it was top quality food. Staff were also excellent, well trained and friendly.

Food was lush and Louise our server was absolutely fantastic with me and my non-verbal daughter, thank you

After years of eating and drinking at the grapes while using the nearby campsite we were looking forward to our evening meal. Our drinks order was taken and came straight away then there was over a 20 minute wait for somebody to come and take our food order. People came in after us and were served before us, it was as if we were invisable. Starter was delicious, main was obviously preheated and potatoes had a very chewy consistency (must've been made that morning and under a heat lamp for hours) . Then we had to wait almost half an hour to get the bill, we weren't asked if we wanted it, I ended up asking a passing waiter (not our waitress who was too busy flirting with the cooks!) Wont be going back

Had lunch today & l was not impressed… soup luke warm .. frozen roast potatoes.. minimal veg.. & tough roast beef. When you take people for lunch you expect a little more… ( need to get it right in my opinion) certainly wont be going back.

Sunday lunch gathering for 30 people. Food quantity was exceptional. I had roast beef which was tender & tasty. However, it was not very hot (cold plates) & could have been presented more attractively. Roast vegetables were overcooked. Service was excellent & delivered by name rather than the name of the meal made everything quicker.

Fabulous venue, with amazing staff and the sea bass is unreal!!

Visited a few times really good food menu is good not the cheapest place to eat most meals £18 plus could do with burgers on the menu. Really great full the staff allowed us to stay overnight in the rear carpark in our motorhome staff are super friendly

I came here today to do some work... I spent the whole day in the company of the staff... An incredible team of people work here. The main floor staff Emily, Lizzie, Jack, and Louise all did their level best to help and accommodate us during our visit, they were also extremely attentive to all the visiting customers. The chef in the kitchen was another fantastic Ego colleague, he too was very welcoming when we arrived on site and throughout the day helped facilitate our work. The whole venue looks stunning with a lot of attention to detail and cleanliness, This site has a large function room, a beer garden and a bowling green. What I really like is you can see into the kitchen from the restaurant seating here, I feel being able to see the chefs preparing and cooking food in a shiny sparkling kitchen always gives me extra confidence that the chefs have high standards... The food coming over the pass looked amazing... You can see why The Grapes is such a popular place to eat. This pub also has some really beautiful & unique lighting (I got some inspiration for own home while working here )...🤔 Thank you to the team here for looking after me and my colleague today... Very much appreciated 🙂

Louise was very helpful throughout our visit to the Grapes today, nothing was too much effort for her & we enjoyed her company. She took the time with us and it made for a lovely experience all round!

First visit to ego restaurant in bicton heath and wow couldn't of asked for a nicer meal or atmosphere the food was fabulous , hot and plenty of it , and hot, service was fantastic, the waitresses never stopped. It was a little noisy due to the pub being packed, all in all a fabulous find.

We decided to eat here as it had fairly good reviews. My husband had prawn linguine, which was okay but my peri-peri hanging kebab was not very nice at all. The chicken breast was bone dry, and I wondered if it had been cooked ahead and then cut up and skewered with veg before a quick grill. No flavour, no succlence and only tepid when it arrived at our table. Worst sort of pre-made salad with flavourless dressing and rock hard bits of pitta bread to accompany. All this for over 20 pounds. I felt less than satisfied. The waiting staff were friendly enough but the food was so disappointing!

The food quality, service and atmosphere is so consistently good that I’m a regular. Today I was served by Emmi who’s attentive, kind and warm energy took my dining experience above my already high expectations.

Always good food an good atmosphere

Lovely meal as always, I had the goats cheese pizza and chocolate brownie for my dessert, both was excellent as always, a warm welcome by staff and despite the restaurant being so busy we didn't have to wait long for our meals, absolutely love coming here, one of my favourite places, will see you again soon.

Our regular Fridsy post-tennis lunch was another great success. Especially outstanding were the efficiency and friendliness of all the waiting staff, especially Emily on this occasion. Good menu choices. Nice food but experience spoiled by poor service. Long wait for our food order to be taken. Our server had to be asked twice for some water. A second carafe of water came without ice. The server seemed bored. Long wait for our main courses, which I think were actually ready at the kitchen but not being collected by our server. After we finished our main courses our plates remained uncollected for a long time. Meanwhile the server was clearing other tables & resetting but using her hand at times to handle the prong end of the fork! Not acceptable!

Chips we had today were very poor .. hard and over cooked . The supposedly large portion was anything but , Shame this place used to be good ...

Had a great meal here with friends while staying locally Friday 4th October. The food was delicious and the service was top notch, the staff were friendly and the meals came out promptly. Would definitely recommend if you're in the area.

Only had a coffee there today . But interior looked lovely . Will have a meal there soon.

Had not been here for years and so glad I returned after a friend recommended the roast! The food was amazing and service was brilliant. Although the wrong order arrived for my brother, the staff were apologetic and returned 5 minutes later with the correct order. Would 100% recommend their Sunday roast and will be trying other foods on the menu next time!

I ordered off the prix menu but was charged full price for both courses. Unfortunately I was with guests so did not realise until we arrived home. VERY ANNOYED! Will you contact me?

As usual, a very good meal, all four of us enjoyed their own choice of meals, we had good, and very pleasant, efficient service. A wide choice of dishes. The only downside was the level of noise, a friend of ours has hearing aids, he found it difficult to follow conversations due to back ground noise. We appreciate the room was full, and busy, so do not expect this to spoil our future enjoyment.

Excellent Sunday lunch, couldn't fault it. The gravy in my view was the star, rich and flavoursum.

Mixed this visit. Soup was tepid , sent back and it was perfect. Very tasty. Goat cheese starter was lovely too. Fish n chips as always very good. Tea for two didn't work out well.A half pot of hot water , two cups but no teabags! A little disappointed this month, staff were helpful. Attention to detail needs to be better x

Chose here for our date night dinner when visiting Shrewsbury last week. It was our first visit and certainly won’t be our last! Next time we are in the area we will definitely be back. The food was delicious, atmosphere brilliant, yummy cocktails and staff incredibly kind and helpful. Even better, they are super dog friendly and the staff made a fuss of our two each time they came to the table! We were holidaying in the area and had to bring our dogs due to restrictions at the accommodation meaning we couldn’t leave them unattended. We were seated in a quiet corner which was perfect and meant limited disturbance to our dogs. The food was generous in portion sizes and reasonably priced. Extra sauces provided when requested and the cocktail menu is fabulous! The Lemon Drizzle and hanging kebabs are a must try. 5/5 ✨

Monday special almost too good to be true. Pan-fried chicken and Moroccan Lamb. Cooked to perfection. Went early so not too busy.

Mixed review. Food excellent. Ambience relaxed. Service to table poor. Attended at 7.00pm. Waited till 7.45 for starters. Main course not served till 8.50. On arrival it was clear busy evening. Waitress very pleasant and apologetic but clearly too many patrons that were having to wait for food. Staff even advised on arrival,they " had run out of water jugs" so were continually waiting for glasses to be refilled with water. Restaurant needs to better manage table bookings to avoid really good food being let down by timely service to table.

Awful dining experience - pate with BURNT black toast - then waited nearly an hour for main course obviously they were over booked . Birthday meal.

Nice decor, pleasant helpful staff, great food, but music much too loud especially when put on at a table underneath the speaker, causing us and people around us to have to shout to be heard. A bit chaotic on a Wednesday, as it’s the meal deal, which is great value but it gets busy, noisy, had to wait a while between courses and it’s difficult to park as limited spaces considering the size of the restaurant. The staff remained pleasant and helpful regardless of the demands placed upon them.

Excellent light meal. Every was perfectly cooked and tasty. One small point; one of the coffees was served cold but it was quickly replaced without fuss. Will go again.

Exceptional staff here. They work so hard and are very pleasant. We ate there 2 nights and both nights looked fully booked. Food was delicious. Very impressed.

I booked for a Birthday treat after recommendations from friends. We were not disappointed at all. The food, atmosphere was brilliant. The only comment I have is on arrival the booking comments for allergies was ignored and we had ask about the gluten free menu.

We dined in on the 11/09/24 . We used our £50 voucher which we received as a gift in January for our 50th golden anniversary. We have been unable to use it until recently because I’ve been recovering from Chemotherapy. We decided to go for the meal deal and added a bottle of wine. Our starters were fine however my husband’s steak was extremely chewy. To be fair the waitress changed it . But of course this left me eating while my husband waited . On a positive I chose Moroccan Lambs & it was fine . Meal arrived however still chewy so consequently he didn’t eat it . We decided to just pay with our voucher & leave . My husband was not charged for his meal which was a positive . However we both felt your steaks were not good enough as I tried both steaks & agreed they were both chewy . We will dine again just to use the rest of our voucher up . Hopefully we won’t be disappointed . Kind regards Marian Yapp

Excellent quality food with a very quick service, well worth a visit.

The staff were friendly. welcoming and efficient. The food and wine were excellent. The Birthday Treat was a great bonus.

Although it was very busy everything was very organised and food was excellent very well trained and efficient staff.

Went on Thursday Kebab night and the peri peri chicken I had was very substantial and tasty.

The main course was (unusually) disappointing. The sea bass was overcooked and the potatoes even more so to the point of being inedible. We then had desert which was good.

The occasion was a celebratory birthday lunch. The support and help beforehand was excellent and the venue ideal. Everything seemed to go to plan and all guests seemed very impressed. Compliments regarding the food were nothing but good, amazing and very satisfied. The attentive service was thoughtful and carefully timed so that no one either had to wait.

Food was left waitress walked past it several times before delivering it too the table, therefore it was cold when arrived. Drinks came quickly
