Lovely pizza... not such great service. We were sharing a pizza between 3. One of us has lactose intolerance and avoids cheese. I asked if we could have a third of the pizza without mozzarella... This seemed to cause some confusion. What I presumed was a fairly simple request was apparently considered by the chef 'impossible' as he was 'no good at maths' I'm left unsure whether the staff have a shocking inability to visualise basic fractions, or perhaps felt my request was in some other way unreasonable. Either way, they weren't exactly helpful or particularly friendly, which was a shame because it put a bit of a downer on the experience.

Up until a year ago the pizza was as close as you could get to an authentic Italian wood oven pizza, excellent with high quality ingredients. Very professional pizza chefs (pizzaioli) with so much knowledge and passion and also all members of staff in general. Today I was served a very low quality, over cooked on the outside and raw on the inside( as the dough was not left to rise properly) , extremely low quality topping ingredients and unfortunately also very rude customer service. The management is definitely not that of a year ago and it has gone completely woke, no professionalism and passion whatsoever. Of course this restaurant will continue to work because of its unique location right across the beach but if their policy remains the same do not expect an excellent pizza or customer service like in the past. Sad.

Shocking customer service, lots of chatting and empty hands when orders are outgoing. I can understand that they want a nice time but waiting 20 minutes for 2 mochas when there is no queue is shocking. Last week my friend asked for whipped cream for a hot chocolate and they said they didn’t have any. Whereas we’ve been coming for years. Lastly, it’s very obvious when staff are talking about us.

I stopped with my son for a couple of coffees and was somewhat taken aback with the price of £7.50 for two. However, what we really found terrible about the place was how filthy it was. There was old food and wooden cutlery on the floor and a lot of cigarettes had been stubbed out on a table top which had sand through the middle as a decorative feature. I was surprised that they even allowed smoking but to have left the stubbed out cigarettes was just gross. I was worried about the cleanliness of the establishment to such a degree that we left our coffees, even though I paid for them, and left. There really is no excuse for a food outlet to present as so sub standard.

Weather was too windy to eat outside but interior was fine. Pizza is wood fired and was good size and excellent quality. Family friendly with a child's menu and nice pasta. We stayed the weekend at the nearby Bournemouth Beach Lodges and stumbled across this place on our evening dog walk. The front of house server was lovely and helpful, and was keen to assist when I said we were vegan. The pizzas are freshly made so it’s easy to stray from the menu and order any variant with vegan cheese. The ingredients were fresh and we waited a maximum of 10 minutes for our takeaway order. We had a portion of hand cooked chips to go with it, which had the skins on and my partner commented that they were one of the nicest chips he’s eaten. Thank you, we’ll be back if we stay at the Beach Lodges in future!

Quite honestly the worst pizza we've ever tasted. For starters we had to wait approx 40 mins for it, it was so expensive for what was essentially a pizza base, skimpily covered in tomato base very little cheese and 1 tiny piece of chicken per slice. Totally tasteless and had to go back for salt just to make it taste some kind of something, Wasn't quite sure if it was the cardboard box I was eating! The chunky cheese covered chips resembled something my dog had regurgitated only colder. We visit Bournemouth often but will definitely not return to the wood oven. Shocking that management will allow food to be served on a thriving beach front food outlet to such a lousy standard ! Swerve at all costs. Although if your reading this your probably about to complain yourself !

Stopped here for lunch today and ordered a cheese pizza, a bbq chicken pizza and a portion of chips to share with the family. It was a very long wait and when we did get our food the pizzas were honestly terrible. The bbq chicken pizza had only a few toppings on and was so wet that it was impossible to pick up a proper slice, same with the cheese pizza. The only redeeming thing was the chips, which were very nice. We didn't have time to return the pizzas as we were on our way home. Hopefully this is a one off but we were very disappointed with the quality, especially for £12 a pizza.

Sad to see - just need to train their baristas I bit more! We got a takeaway from The Wood Oven largely out of simplicity, as we are staying at the Bournemouth Beach Lodges 800m or so away and it was too wet on this particular day to go much further. After realising you have to go into Urban Reef next door to order, we chose the Meat Lover and a garlic bread with cheese. I had a quick drink whilst waiting for the pizza, and it arrived soon after, nice and hot. The total, with a 10% discount for beach lodge guests, was around £21, which was average to a bit expensive. The pizza was nice, but could have done with a bit more chorizo. The garlic bread was also nice enough. It wasn’t the best pizza I’ve ever had, but you could tell it had been cooked in a wood oven, and it was better than a bog-standard takeaway. The crust may be a bit dry for some. Overall, a pleasant takeaway given the situation.

Went from excitement to dismay all in the same day... Having arrived really looking forward to the pizza, garlic bread and fat chips with a reputation for greatness, we were advised of an hours initial delay. That’s ok, food must be great... We were presented with the synonymous ‘buzzer’ that would light up the way to our meal. An hour passed, and a waiter came by with our ticket order letting us know he’s been trying to find us as they’d been buzzing. Strange, nothing come through, and none of the four members of family have heard it? Never mind, pizza is waiting. I’ve asked in the hope that it will be still warm given the time delay, only to be told the ovens are now off, so they hope so too. That’s not a positive remark to be fair, especially given the price we’re paying and the reputation expected. Pizza is warm (not hot), but we’ve got two hungry children, so I’ll accept it with thanks. Regrettably the chips are no where to be seen. I’ll get some made up and sent out they say. Great, thanks. Should be ok as a short wait I think, especially as the garlic bread had gone hard from the initial wait. Twenty minutes later and still nothing. Now, as every parent of young children will tell you, a meal can simply not be a meal without the accompanying side of chips. It’s now time to investigate I think. Things start to heat up when I ask, and not in a good way. What a shame! When asking where our food is, I’m advised (without question) that the kitchen is shut? But I’ve paid for them I remark? I’m sorry the ovens are off now? I repeat my remark in that I’ve paid for food and not received it. Their first reaction is that it’s tough. I must admit that at this time, I’m more than a little annoyed and point out the issues occurred, only to be challenged back by a chef noting how difficult it is and unless I’ve been in the kitchen have no idea. Now, I have no doubt kitchen life is hard work, and I’m not challenging the chefs, but the operation as a whole. I’ve simply ordered goods of which they’ve agreed and implemented a process. That process has fallen down through no fault of mine, so don’t expect me to be punished by it. After several minutes of heated discussions, the night manager walks in and simply remarks, what’s the issue and what do you want? I suppose for most people, they may just want a refund. But for me at this point (rightly or wrongly), there is a principle in that I’ve been victimised (or made to feel that way) for a situation that I am in no way to blame. I simply wanted, ordered and paid for food. The bottom line... would I recommend? Well the food despite being not hot, was good. The service however and the treatment of a customer thereafter was diabolical, so no, I cannot bring myself to recommend at all.

The Barman was friendly and welcoming (makes such a difference to be greatly warmly 0 set the tone for the whole eating experience). I ordered a Slow Roasted Port Shoulder in a Brioche Bun plus chips, my Wife ordered Fish in Brioche Bun, i also could not resist the Banana Milkshake, a bit childish perhaps but ridiculously delicious and cold on such a hot day. We were given a Electric Buzzer that lights up and vibrates when the food order is ready to be collected from the Bar in front of the Kitchen. The Buzzer went off after a few minutes and we collected our delicious food. The Slow Roasted Port was tasty and tender, My Wife said that the fish was perfectly cooked and was a "proper" piece of fish and not in breadcrumbs or batter, so was not greasy or dry, but just right. Anyway, I won't be rushing back - although I will give them another try on a slightly less busy day and see how we get on.

Ordered take away to the beach lodges and got a £10 discount! Lovely pizzas! They took longer than promised but it was a Friday night and they were well worth the wait!

The service was supreme. Not only was I given a delightful pizza (margarita), but a generous portion of chips for a very reasonable price. The workers were very smiley and I would deffo bring my husband and kids here on another occasion.

Why ask us to come down last night when we queued for 45 minutes to talk to a singularly unhelpful, couldn’t care less man who not only told us there would be an hour’s wait for a pizza but there was ample signage telling us this? Total tosh! Not a sign in sight and shocking customer service. As a visitor to Bournemouth the Wood Oven gets a massive thumbs down. A load of rubbish.

We visited on ‘firework night’ with some friends and our toddlers. We went and ordered our food at 8.30 after a 20 minute wait with only 3 people in front of us. When we eventually got to the front of the queue, there was no apology for the wait and the guy serving couldn’t seem to care less. When it is so busy, the guy serving shouldn’t have been making drinks aswell as it made the wait ridiculous. We asked how long the wait would be as he hadn’t informed us (there was a sign outside urban reef stating up to 45 mins and no where near the serving hatch) and we were informed it would be up to an hour after my friend got this clarified a few times. The guy seemed too busy drinking his own milkshake and chatting to his colleagues rather than serving customers well.

Nice base of pizza but ingredients are not generously used...Since not many other choice of eatery close by; one price for all pizzas that £12 gives %95 profit that trading standards has to look into....too many staff behind the bar but not efficient at all and not polite either ...

Both delivery and pick up options are handled well. Few days ago we had few pizzas delivered to the office and over the weekend we ordered and picked-up few pizzas from the shop. It was so lush to eat a posh cheesy pizza on the beach. What else do you want? Sand, sea, beautiful weather and posh cheesy pizza. It's not the biggest and the cheapest pizza that you can locally have but crust is delicious and ingredients are very tasty too and also sourced locally. Will definitely order it again in the future.

Went to the wood oven yesterday for some dinner on the beach with friends, we waited in line for 30 minuets to be severed which we had saw the sign about it being around 45 minuets so we didn’t mind waiting as we were hungry. Once we finally got to the till and paid they only had one buzzer left so they put all three of our pizzas on one buzzer and said it will around another 30 minute wait once the buzzer went off we went to collect and only one pizza was done so we then had to wait a further 20 minuets for the other two to be made in that time the first pizza that was meant to be kept warm was stone cold and the others were only luke warm for £12.00 a pizza not worth going again

I must start by saying the pizzas are great , so tasty and original toppings ....location is great too .....the issue I have is how clean the outside area is and state of the seating area .... it's a mess and so dirty, wooden table tops are left to go very weathered ...I know weathered can look cool but these are never cleaned or sanded down and protected from weather or food....the restaurant next door which they own is the same ...eating area old and dirty , plates and cups chipped , condiments Bottles filthy , buckets they are in rusty , the food although very very tasty is nearly always luke warm or cold , come on owner ...you have no competition we know but it doesn't mean you've got to lower your standards ....I'm thinking if the area we eat and things we eat off are so bad ....what's it like behind closed doors where we can't see !

We are pretty regular customers and have over the past few months enjoyed many a beef brisket or puled pork brioche with amazing chunky chips. We have recently decided to minimise the meat we eat so have started to order pizzas and this week had a roasted vegetable one and a marinara one. Absolutely amazing, the service was excellent, I messed up when ordering and didn't book them for delivery. They contacted us and delivered, apologising for the lateness even though it was my fault. They then called again to say there would be a few minutes delay as the chef wasn't happy to send pizzas that had been waiting so was redoing them for us. They were worth the few minutes wait, the vegetables were delicious, I don't usually like aubergines but these were amazing. There were loads of veg on the vegie one and just the right amount of anchovies and olives on the marinara, all in, highly recommend you try the amazing food here

Really good pizza , good range , quick service and nice staff, a good option for a quick lunch. The menu also offers a great variety, including vegan and gluten-free options, which is always a plus for those with dietary restrictions.

Fantastic service and food! We were a very large group of 19 and couldn’t recommend this pizza express enough for large party. Everything ordered came and was delicious. Waitress was Deliah, and was so helpful and friendly. Fantastic evening to celebrate my daughters birthday Thank you
