Cristallo in Bournemouth

Lovely meal. Could not fault this restaurant for fabulous food and attentive staff. If I lived in Bournemouth I would go every week.

The food was horrible. Im pretty sure sure my pizza was a frozen Lidl pizza. My partner had spaghetti carbonara and terrible too. Expensive and terrible restaurant

My wife got food poisoning from the Risotto. She was so ill I had to call an ambulance during the night. The food could was either out of date of not prepared properly or in a clean environment. So bad I have reported to the food inspectors in Bournemouth. In addition toilets were not clean . Also everything overpriced. Everything is extra, , if you order a steak it’s extra for vegetables, extra for chips etc. Strongly advise you to avoid.

After reading some of the negative reviews on this restaurant I’m drawn to the conclusion that judging by the poor spelling of most of the bad reviews, most of these people would think a good restaurant had a big yellow M on display outside. Our food was fantastic, the service was good, as was the wine and the atmosphere. Try it for yourself, my experience was a good one.

The evening meal was nice: nicely presented, nice taste, staff friendly. Somehow, the cost was over £70, which I find hard to justify, particularly a 10% service charge. Would I go back? probably not.

Amazing staff, food ,no words except thumbs you every time, Cristallos never fail's. taste amazing, everything, they go above and above to Pleasure your evening with wine food, hospitality , it was my birthday tonight they really made it special. Thank you Rob and to your staff Mathew and Sarah 👍😁

This was an amazing experience with family down from Nottingham. It was the best meal we've had for ages. Great ambience, super service & delicious food. Would definitely recommend to visiting or living in Bournemouth. Fantastic night and even let us to take some fleecy blankets whilst waiting for a taxi. In all the years I've worked in hospitality this was the BEST!!!

On holiday in Bournemouth, came across this fabulous restaurant, firstly the customer service was excellent and friendly, made you feel very welcome and attended your every needs, made sure everything was comfortable, and perfect, the atmosphere was relaxing, cosy and enjoyable, the food was superb, very tasty! A great experience overall, definitely highly recommended. I'd come here again without doubt.

Never been here before but managed to walk in without a booking which was great, however we were sat right next to a busy kitchen when there was many other places we could’ve been sat. The food was quick, for the mains we asked for a few things such as chips and penne pasta instead of spaghetti and that came out incorrect. But other than that the food was lovely and so were the staff.

Bournemouth is very thin on the ground for decent restaurants, especially around the seaside area and after 9pm at night too - far too many curry and Thai restaurants it's bizzare. We were relieved to find this real gem of an Italian restaurant and it is open until 11pm. We were not exactly dressed for dinner but were greeted with warmth and care by the restaurant team. I ordered a rare steak and my man had the salmon fillet, the sauces are exquisite and our waiter, Matthew, specially ordered grilled tomatoes for me, nothing was too much trouble, he is a rare find in a restaurant, extremely professional and very attentive. We moved inside for desserts as it was getting a little chilly and had tiramisu and apple pie. The apple pie was gorgeous, very well spiced The tiramisu a little bland and not much of it but that was my only complaint. Go here if you want delicious fresh cooked food and amazing service, you won't be disappointed, it truly is Bournemouth's hidden gem.

Avoid this place at any cost. They charged me more then the price in the menu. Staffs are useless they don't make you aware of any extra charges. There is also a hidden service charge. In total I had to pay £20 extra without knowing until I got the bill.

They were kind in adjusting the seafood dish for me. Garlic bread was so lovely and pan fried prawns were stunning in taste. Staff ate helpful and friendly. Very good recommendations.

The service was great - very welcoming, polite and attentive. We ordered the Penne Arabiatta and the Fettuccine Cacciatore with garlic bread, which was well seasoned and tasted fresh. For dessert we ordered a Chocolate Fudge cake which was moist and also fresh. Would recommend these dishes for vegetarians.

Fantastic experience I’m glad I didn’t follow hater’s reviews. We as group decided to give it ago dispite the horrible inaccurate reviews. Great authentic Italian cuisine with amazing selection of drinks unbeatable prices top notch service. We have already make a booking for September. Best place for all types of dining out. Love Cristallo Can’t wait to come back.

It was 12 of us. We were received with by a waiter who was really funny and friendly names Gaitano . The was excellent so was the service really good quality food and reasonably priced. I highly recommend this restaurant for any group type’solo or couple. I will definitely bring my partner here next time. Cristallo is a kind of place to make you feel proud if you bring someone with you for the first time. Worth every penny. I be back soooooon.x

Wedding anniversary dinner It was just the two of as we were celebrating our wedding anniversary.although we didn’t have a booking we got received like it was arranged booking. We asked for a window table despite the full house still we got a window table just because my husband mentioned about our anniversary. 5 stars all round. We had a selection of appetisers with our cocktails followed with fillet steaks and bottle of organic red wine. AMAZING. I wish cristallo was near where we live . It would be my new local favourite. Prices are reasonable for top quality dining. We decided to visit Bournemouth again soon just to visit Cristallo restaurant again. I can’t believe the horrible reviews. Clearly no clue of classic dining experience. Can’t wait to return. Please try it for yourself people. You will thank me for it. Lots of ❤️ best wishes to Cristallo Team

After spending all day on the beach we were looking for a restaurant within walking distance from the beach. We specifically wanted a place for family I think cristallo restaurant and bar is a perfect place for families we ordered pizzas for kids and steak risotto for me and my husband the food was amazing the atmosphere was great the staff were friendly and helpful. They gave us a table with no prior booking luckily we got table outdoor, one of the best italian restaurants in the Bournemouth Could not recommend highly enough. Wish we lived closer so we could make this a regular haunt. We will definitely be back!

Visted this restaurant 12.08.24 with my family. 2 adults 2 children. Food was outstanding, really lovely food. Quite expensive, but we didn't mind as it's not something we do often. Service was absolutely shocking, never again!! The main guy in charge or seemed to be in charge was extremely rude. There was a family of 3 sat at the side of us that had ordered & waited ages, in fact we'd left after our food went for a walk towards the beach & passed the restaurant on our way back to our hotel & they still hadn't eaten. Such a shame, as I said the food was lovely, but the attitude on the staff was awful. Not what you expect, especially for the price we'd paid.

First, I want to say Big thank You!!! Everything was amazing :dishes, staff and atmosphere. All dishes beautifully prepared and presented, portions very generous (we couldn't finish), everything was tasty, nicely balanced in favour. My mum and daughter (which is very fussy about food) had finished everything and we were very pleased with every single dish. Big thank you to the Chef:it was amazing experience!! Big thank you to the staff :you very friendly, kind and helpful with choosing the dishes. When we will be back to Bournemouth, we definitely coming back!!!!

Awful and dreadful customer service, had to wait 10 minutes for a table to be “cleaned” after the people have already left their table and payed, when being sat at the table, the table wasnt cleaned even when asked twice, had to wait 25 minutes for 3 glasses of drinks and then 10 minutes for someone to take our order, 1 hour wait for our food. the food was in small portions even when paying 20£ for one dish. the waiters didnt know where the tables where and couldnt count the money for the bill accurately or the change. every table was waiting for food. opposite of italian cuisine completely, im hoping the seafood was cooked. nightmare restaurant wouldnt ever want to go back.

Service ok, food ok. We then had coffee and Bailey's and were charged £20 for 2 baileys. Outrageous. Should have realised we would be ripped off when server asked if we wanted single or double. Legal measure for Baileys is 50ml not 25ml. Avoid ordering after dinner drinks. Shame coz it spoilt our night

Worse experience in an Italian restaurant with staff, environment and food. Once I came in the waiter was roude, i didnt even take my jacket or seat and would start asking for what I wanted to order without even seeing the menu. The food order was delivered wrong i ordered a 4 cheese calzone, I dont eat meat, they brought a meat fest calzones!!! , once I mentioned it, he was like " oh okay, well we made a mistake, do you really want me to change it" I said yes, and the waiter asked again " do I change it then?, it will take a while". Once I went to pay, they pushed me to pay for the service charge even I had a horrible service and 0 kindness. One of the waiters even with a dommy on her neck....ridiculous...NEVER EVER AGAIN WILL PUT A FOOT IN THIS RESTAURANT.

Waited one hour for food, ordered wine and charged me extra for bigger glass also garlic bread and brought me with cheese charged me extra too paid 55£ for pizza and lasagne chips & garlic bread a joke didnt leave happy with my meal

Food lovely, wait staff friendly, unfortunately this restaurant seems to go to peices when busy, much confusion re food delivery to tables, wrong food sent out, drinks forgotten, dishes confused. Shame as such great food and staff. Might be more agreeable on a quiet night or for lunch.

Awful, they couldn't wait for us to order, pay and leave! We were in and out within 45 mins.... while we were they they sat 13 people at a 6 seater table.... food was just awful, not a real Italian restaurant!! Will never go here again, so expensive and a 10% service charge, shocking 😲

Amazing experience food was delicious for all of four of us and service was brilliant and friendly, we will be back.

A place that I would almost classify as a tourist trap. It was our only option for the moment as all the best restaurants in the area were full. The restaurant looked very tacky but we decided to give it a chance. After being sat on a sticky table, we got approached by 4 or 5 different servers with the same question in a span of maybe 4 minutes- clear lack of communication between the servers. We ended up with a server that was quite rude. We tried to play it safe and ordered dishes that were hard to mess up. Well - the Cezar salad was super salty and our pizzas - the Meat Feast and a Quattro Formaggi calzone, very basic and heavy with grease. After couple of more visits to our table from various different servers we asked for the bill that was decent. We took of the service charge (10%!) for obvious reasons. To sum up- no reason to visit this restaurant unless you’re starving and there is no other option. Food is below average and the service is poor. There are many more better and worth your time and money restaurants in the area. The business is clearly running on confused tourists.

The food was horrible.they call it Italian place but this is way far of it. There is nothing Italian food in there!!!😡 We had pizza and it wasn’t handmade. It was a frozen base with very poor toppings and extremely too much cheese just to make you full and cover the big nothing. Toilet was dirty,with pee everywhere and without toilet paper. I asked the bill,we were just waiting there for very long minutes,when I decided to go inside at the bar to ask one of the waiters to pay and they still had no idea about it. Very sad about this place,never go back ever again!!!!!

Hi,i wass yesterday and i order 2 chicken pizza,,,the time for 2 pizza wass 15-20 minits,,,the chicken don t wass fresh,the sweet corn wass missing from the pizza and also the pizza wass very,very subtle🥹🥹🥹

They charged us 9 pounds for two cokes and the letter said 2.5 each. I asked them and they gave me a very bad excuse. Only to charge extra because apparently we ask for very little for them. They came to ask us all the time if we were going to want something else. They have the flag of Italy but the Food doesn't even look like it, it's pretty bad. We ordered a shot of whiskey that also said 2 on the menu and ended up being 6. A scam, bad and abusive. Don't go 👎

Delicious food, excellent service, very cute outdoor terrace, I’ve ordered Veal alla Crema with roasted potatoes and mushrooms cream sauce , was super tasty. Pizza is also very good. Reading through the comments below mentioning that lamb chops (example) was dry and tasteless: As a tips I would advice lamb chops to be eaten in a Turkish or Indian restaurant for example. 😉Italian ?! Best choices would be pasta, pizza , chicken or meat prepared in cream sauce /wine sauce.

Waited 35 minutes for our drinks and longer for a starter. Calimari. It appeared everyone else there had already finished their mains, so maybe they were short in the kitchen? The atmosphere was nice though, Option to sit outside was nice. Toilets clean and well presented. I think I'd definitely go again, as genuinely seemed like a temporary issue.

Love this place. We visit whenever we're in Bournemouth. Tasty, fresh food and decent portions too. Service is efficient and friendly.

I think I just paid £15 for a £3 supermarket pizza! Place looked OK ish from the outside but gave it a chance. Lots of pasta dishes but chose a pizza. When it turned up, it clearly hadn't been made on the premises. The edges snapped off! My guess is it's a Dr Oetker's from famous frozen food supermarket.

Dont eat the lamb chops,the lamb was old and stinking,and had a lot of fat,they coverit all in wine sauce so we couldn’t actually see the lamb.we’ve send it back as it wasn’t tasting good,still had to pay for it though.we are not picky with food but this was our first and last visit here. The response from the chef was,the lamb is fresh and cooked as stated in the menu. Anyway,don’t believe me,try it yourself!

What do people expect when eating out with a service charge, if you don't like service charges order take away or cook and serve yourself. Ate here twice during my stay and absolutely loved the food. Hawaiian pizza on the first day was wood fired definitely falling in love with wood fired pizza I loved every bite on the second day spaghetti Bolognese and sticky chocolate orange cake with ice cream(extra) worth every penny. Would definitely recommend eating here. 2 days £66 good food is worth it

Looking for somewhere to eat near our hitel came across this place, looked bit run down outside but the food was fantastic, bit confused as was italian but decor was asian and the staff were also Asian, highly recommended

Was seemingly a welcome find close by our hotel on a tired first night. Drinks ordered and delivered quickly with food order taken after we’d asked for a little more time to decide. Starters were brought at same time as mains as requested with no problem. Female staff member was friendly and helpful when my wife had cause to comment on the child portion appearing size of my young teenage, with better appetite than I, son’s spaghetti bolognaise (his signature favourite dish). She was assured it was an adult size dish as ordered but provided another same sized but complimentary without problem. Wife and my own food, calzone, was enjoyably good. Ordered a bottle of their cheapest but not cheap wine and that also was fine. The environment was very comfortably relaxing and music, welcomed and at no time interfered with our conversation. Lighting and decor pleasantly good. Male waiter from initial contact felt a little awkward, though subtly and unable to finger exactly why. Thought he was wishing to take order and misunderstood he actually wanted to take back the specials board if we didn’t want to order from that. Had a good time over all. Fully intended to return before leaving a few days later, expecting to have a similarly enjoyable experience. Unfortunately, having happily given a healthy just sub 15% cash tip on top of meals cost as we left, on returning to our room, wife reviewed our receipt to discover an already added service charge of no insignificant amount as we rarely go out and self indulgently push the boat when we do. I’m used to expecting an added service charge for groups of diners but we were Mum, Dad and a young teenage son. Was a shame it wasn’t pointed out, especially as we’d discussed whether they operated a trunk system, which they don’t, but I made a point of a decent size cash tip anyway. Would have been nicer then to mention that service was added giving me transparent free choice whether to further tip or not. A lesson for me to check every restaurant bill now on even if dining alone. Happened again at the next evenings different restaurant but won’t fall for it anywhere again. Sadly it left me feeling too awkward to return as intended as I would have felt obligated to say something which I suspect would have led to uncomfortable experience, so we didn’t bother. A shame though.

We went to the restaurant twice on our trip to Bournemouth simply because the food and service we received on the first visit was so good. I would highly recommend, and having been to Italy a number of times, all I can say is, that the food was authentic and fabulous. The staff were really friendly and attentive too.

Been coming here for 4 years everytime we are in Bournemouth and it never fails to impress, the food is absolutely stunning! The melon daiquiri is amazing to! Cannot fault one bit. This place really is one of a kind, best Italian food I've had by far! And the service is second to none!

Really lovely restaurant. Lovely fairy lights and candles about the premises gives such a cosy and pretty vibe. The waiter was super friendly and attentive. Served really quickly and not a long wait for food at all. My partner had the calamari and I had the king prawn tempura and they were absolutely delicious. We both had the Pollo Milanese for our mains which was insanely good. Never been to Bournemouth before but if we ever come again we will 100% revisit and highly recommend it.

Group of 8 of us turned up without booking and was warmly greeted to this family restaurant. We were seated and waited on excellently, the food was delicious and came all at once despite the group size. We all enjoyed our meals which seemed freshly prepared and homemade. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone that enjoys Italian

Superb experience had at this lovely Italian. Service was attentive without hovering; atmosphere was chilled and the music wasn't too loud (unfortunately often the case these days); and most importantly, the food was amazing. Generous portions, impeccably seasoned and well presented. Was offered some extremely tasty looking deserts but simply too satisfied by the main. Lovely coffee to finish instead. Would thoroughly recommend.

My son I had dinner here before a show at the bic , the door was opened for us and we were welcomed by a lovely waiter, food was exceptional , pizza which was delicious and the salmon red pesto pasta was beautiful . We had a lovely meal and will definitely be back in the future .

We were staying in a nearby hotel and decided to come here for dinner on the first night. We really enjoyed our meal, portions were on the large size, we definitely didn’t leave hungry. Came back a couple of nights later and once again had a lovely meal. Staff very nice. If we stay in Bournemouth again, we’ll definitely visit.

Came in with my husband for Valentine's Day. Had a lovely meal. Staff were very friendly. Food was fresh and really good quality. A slight downside (and I can't believe I'm saying this): the portion sizes are enormous. Had a Caesar salad starter, which is the size of a standard meal in a lot of places. Then the main was absolutely massive. On top of that we were asked if we wanted garlic bread with the meal to which we said yes. This was two big pieces each, covered in cheese. I struggled to eat everything and had to leave part of it. Would've had dessert but didn't have room. Honestly for the price we paid (around £110 total including a bottle of wine) each dish could've been divided in half size-wise, and it still would've been good value. They don't need to make dishes this big. But overall a really lovely meal. We've walked past enough times over the years and always meant to try it, and I'm glad we did. And we'll definitely come back. I'll just order less next time.

This restaurant is a full 5 stars. Service was incredible, food was above and beyond! I had spaghetti carbonara, muscles and garlic bread. All of which was perfect. Tasted incredible, and was great portion sized. The garlic bread was crispy but not hard, it was perfect. I cannot express how well the staff did to accommodate needs and friendliness with everyone. A lot of people mentioned the staff tip already put on the bill, I believe this is deserved to be put on there after such a great experience. Well done everyone and I recommend this to all.

Avoid this place at all times, this place has given me extreme food poisoning where I can’t leave my bed, not to mention how patronising and rude our waiter was. All the bad comments you see on here, believe them because they are all true. A pathetic excuse of an Italian restaurant.

Came here on the off chance...we read the reviews after having the best starter we have ever had. Mussels in a cream and chilli sauce. Amazing. Very disappointed that some people were so negative about this restaurant. I had the 8oz lamb steak from the specials board and although the stroganoff on the specials was chicken they did the beef for my partner. The juiciest lamb steak and the best red wine sauce EVER! And the stroganoff was equally as good...think my dish had the edge🤣. Highly recommend this place. Please do not be put off by some of the reviews some people have too much time on their hands.

We popped in here early evening on the way back to our nearby Hotel and they were quiet so could fit us in. The staff are all very friendly and welcoming and the food was served quickly. All very tasty and priced reasonably too. Next time we are in the area we will come back.

This place is just brilliant. I am not biased but have been coming here fir some time it just gets better. The staff are extremely helpful and nothing is to much trouble. Honestly, it has yo be one of the best restaurants to visit in Bournemouth.

Great pizza 🍕 Open late on a Tuesday which was really appreciated

We were a party of 12. Matthew and the team greeted us with a warm welcome and the service we received throughout the evening was great. We had a range of starters and mains all washed down with a few bottles of wine for the girls and beer for the boys! The food was delicious. I would definitely recommend the garlic mushrooms which were one of the best I've ever had (and I'm very fussy with my garlic mushrooms!) and the penne arrabiata was tasty. All the food came out together (nobody waiting while others were eating) and it was hot (not luke warm like some places!) Two of the girls ordered the lamb off the specials board but found it a little tough so Matthew gave us some Tiramisu on the house which was appreciated. The restaurant was clean and cosy and we will definitely be back next time we visit Bournemouth!

Apologies to start. Informed the great waiter we would be back after a show however, the show ended up finishing 45 minutes later and was at the pavilion not BIC. Being disabled i could not make it back before closing. Not sure about the other negative views but my wife and i had a great time,service from our waiter (2/11/23) and food were fantastic. Recommend the lamb steak off the specials board.

Mathew and his team were absolutely amazing for me and my boyfriend last night. The customer service was amazing they were very kind, funny and gave the best advice on cocktails. From the minute we phoned to book a table to the minute we left they treated us like friends rather than customers, shaking our hands, taking our photos for us, holding doors, etc. Food was fantastic as well. I’ve never had a carbonara as nice as the one I had last night. Although we don’t live in the area we’ll definitely be returning. You don’t get customer service like this anymore.

We visited the Cristallo with some trepidation after reading some fierce criticism in reviews a few months old. However some recent comments were very positive so we decided to give it a try. All I can say is that the service, the ambience and the quality of food was faultless. The sea bass was cooked to perfection and the Belgian apple pie was incredible! I would also recommend the Merlot which was sublime and very reasonably priced. We look forward to further visits during our stay in Bournemouth!

Another fantastic meal tonight with excellent service. Called in just on the off chance, they were busy but we still had a table.

The wife enjoyed her Risotto, although thought there could of been some more mushrooms. I had chicken stroganoff with Mash and broccoli. Not had this before. Nice and tasty but sauce seemed on the thin side, needed more cream in there? Maybe come with garlic bread or more Mash? Service was great and friendly. Would of had starter and a dessert but we were on a tight schedule for the BIC 😁❤

Absolutely delicious food. The pizza and risotto gets high praise from me and my friends. One star taken off because the desserts are quite poor in comparison - they're brought in rather than made in house. The sauce on my semifreddo had a weird artificial taste and left me feeling suddenly bloated. But all the savoury meals made by the kitchen are indeed top notch.

In Bournemouth for some work and came across this restaurant from the Hotel nearby. Nice and quiet setting, low lighting, relaxing music, fast service and the food was amazing. The garlic mushrooms and sauce were the highlight, mouth watering. Thank you so much. Going back again for some Pizza.
