Pinocchio in Bournemouth

It’s not the first time we’ve been but it’s been a while. But the food was as great as ever and the service is absolutely first class, just really nice people.

Agree completely with previous review by C Son that after going here for previous 20 years ,the atmosphere and ambience of a once joyful and welcoming restaurant has been totally lost, such a shame, advise to totally avoid. The new owner is absolutely miserable and despite us creating a very hefty bill between just two people he could not recover from his upset of us requesting a different table than he offered us on arrival, he avoided us all evening and could barely bring himself to say goodbye to us as we were leaving …quite ludicrous behaviour really. He was borderline bully, very unpleasant. At first there was ONE waiter for over 12 tables and it was complete chaos. Eventually a second waiter came to help, but never spoke to us once, much like the owner, who stands around looking Confused and unhappy. My friends ricotta cannelloni had been microwaved so long it was literally molten hot and he had to wait 10 minutes before being able to attempt to eat it. The bruschetta and olives were very nice. But the house red wine was very poor, the seafood tagliatelle mean, the marguerites largely lime juice and we weren’t even offered desert or coffee, it was too chaotic and/or they couldn’t be bothered. We felt sorry for the one waiter and gave him a tip for his efforts but we will not be returning. The traditional intimate Italian experience has been stripped and replaced with too many tiny tables too close to each other with not enough staff and a ton of bad attitude from the new proprietor.

We had a very warm welcome from the owner on Saturday when we arrived for a meal during Storm Bert. So glad we ventured out as we had the most exceptional meal. Service was excellent, atmosphere was perfect and our host was so pleasant. We highly recommend Pinocchio's and can't wait to return!

I have been going to Pinnocchio for 20 years. There are new owners and the menu has been reduced. Prices high and sarcastic service. So sad old favourites have been removed. It would normally have been full full full on a weekend but now i know why half empty. Such a shame.

The food was good, from the mussels to the fillet... a welcoming environment, from the Chef to Antonio who served us in a pleasantly professional way! ... nice experience! ... we recommend!

Was at the restaurant with friends and decided to order the fillet steak medium well. The steak was near enough mooing when I started to cut into it, far far too undercooked. The steak was recooked, and when it came back, it was cremated on the outside and just as rare on the inside as when it was sent back. I suspect it was put on a panini style press. The portion sizes were smaller than what you'd get on a child's meal elsewhere. The only thing good about this place was the waiting staff I will not be returning to this place

What's the point of advertising you are open on a Tuesday and when we get there at 7pm you are closed If you are not going to open, then fine but please put a note on your website

We booked Pinocchio restaurant for lunch for my sisters hen do and they catered so excellently to such a big group of us. The service was impeccable from the minute we stepped through the door, not only attentive but genuinely warm and friendly. The portions were a good size for everyone and all tasted amazing! Would highly highly recommend coming here.

You are welcomed as a stranger and leave as a friend. Yes, we thought so too. Until we realized afterwards that we had been screwed over. Unfortunately, we only know what we paid in total and that was far too much when we did the individual calculations afterwards. Just under 25€. Yes, that's how you can pay for your friendship. Please urgently check the receipt calmly and carefully.

Wow!! We found this little gem on the off chance on Saturday night and so glad we did. Food was incredible, we love Italian and this was certainly the best we have ever been to. The 3 men serving were so friendly and the place had a real homely family atmosphere. Service, venue and food 10/10. Thanks for a lovely evening

Incredibly quaint and wonderful place full of authenticity and a wonderful atmosphere. The standard regarding service and standards is incredible! The staff are attentive, the food is incredible and arrives swiftly! The crockery is clean - all items on table perfectly clean and polished. A truly 12/10 experience and would eat here multiple times a week if I lived local!

Salió del camino para impresionarla con pizza personalizada y bebidas y bromas. El vino era muy bueno para el precio y la pasta y entrantes eran exactamente lo que esperaba y quería de un restaurante italiano familiar. El ambiente y el clientelismo era cálido y bullicioso con un montón de charlas y sonrisas en una decoración algo peculiar. De primera categoría, volveré.

Pizza was perfect, light crispy base with a touch of chewiness. I had quattro stagioni, toppings were plentiful and basil just right. Tagliatelle with Bolognaise also great.

Unfortunately, I wasn't impressed with the food. The pasta was very blunt, the meat dry and the starters very tasteless as well. Disappointed.

We always come here whenever we are in Bournemouth. Incredible food and fantastic service in a traditional, old school style Italian restaurant - the way it should be! Would not go anywhere else. By far the best Italian restaurant in Bournemouth. Keep up the amazing work and see you next year!

Came for my 21st birthday with my family and it was just incredible food is brilliant service flawless and staff are polite funny and really made my evening special and amazing I could not recommend them further, well priced incredible eating and just the most amazing staff. I thoroughly has an amazing birthday thank you Pinnochio

Outstanding restaurant with tasty dishes which are truly Italian authentic. Staff very friendly and service was impeccable - owner's greeting was very warm and showed caring which was great to experience. My wife and I both had Calamari starter, which was delicious and a VERY large portion for only £10.00. Cooked to perfection and so tasty, I really cannot praise this starter highly enough. For mains we had pizza, I had a Vulcano which was unreal - amazing flavour and as the name suggests was extremely hot - helps to wash it down with a few cold Moretti beers! Wife had Gepetto with additional olives added. Again outstanding in every way. THIS IS THE BEST MEAL WE'VE EXPEREINCED IN A VERY LONG TIME. The reviews tell you the truth, this is an awesome Italian dining experience.

I had a carbonara, my friends had penne arrabiata and it all was amazing. We were sitting inside and we were watching the chef cooking everything, it all is homemade!!

We went there to eat lunch, the staff were very friendly and treat us sooooo well. We eat pasta, lasagna and pizza every plate was amazing, 100% coming back here

We didn’t know where to go for a meal on our short trip As soon as you walk in this restaurant it is buzzing with a great atmosphere The staff are welcoming and nothing is too much trouble The food is made fresh and you can taste the difference it’s just great food There’s no pressure it’s very relaxing and our meals for a family of 3 was very reasonable. I don’t normally do reviews but for this I had to Credit where it is due we all left with a smile and the feeling of great home cooked food Have a visit you will be surprised

A really great Italian! We were there with our son and as soon as we entered the restaurant we felt at home: we were greeted by the boss with the well-known Italian hospitality and we were given a table even without pre-ordering. The pizzas were just great and the only "criticism" about the lasagna would be that it was very hot... All in all a visit that begs to be repeated!

The staff was very welcoming and friendly. The service was above and beyond! The food was amazing, freshly cooked and delicious. If you are a fan of sea food I definitely would recommend Antipasto Di Mare Caldo and Gamberoni Alla Livornese. The pizzas were freshly baked and give you the taste of Italy. If you are visiting Bournemouth make sure you visit Pinocchio for your lunch or dinner.

Pinocchio’s restaurant is definitely well worth a visit, the food is delicious and the service is excellent. We dined there on Sunday, a family of six 4 adults and two children. We were immediately made to feel very welcome. Our granddaughter was made to feel like a princess, and for the first time in a restaurant she completely finished her meal. I highly recommend this restaurant, and cannot understand any negative comments. Thank you for such a fabulous evening, we will definitely return next time we are in Bournemouth.

The food was 1a, there was nothing to complain about! The ambience and service was awesome. We were welcomed as strangers, as if we were family. 😊 You can immediately tell that this restaurant is run out of love for gastronomy! We went there twice in one week because it was so delicious and we received such a warm welcome. We would dine there again at any time. 😍

A Sicilian/Italian restaurant with fresh pasta (so good) great house wines and a fun ambiance around the original book of Pinocchio. We had a salad, pasta and wine and were very happy.

Presentation of the food is excellent, the serving staff were pleasant and tentative and the atmosphere is good. The food was good overall although the small prawns in the salad were straight from the freezer. The pizzas were great, loads of cheese which is always good! Good value also

Amazing place to enjoy a really Italian food, Stuff really helpful we had no book a table and we're starving and decided to ask if possible to come in, at the begining there was no space for dine in but the lady worked it out very well and we had a table and believe me, every one wants to enjoy a delicious food and we had it. Visited the restaurant about a month ago, not only was the food amazing... But the service was too!! The staff were so friendly and really added to the dining experience. They also handled our very excitable (and loud) children with no problem! Something that you've got to give them credit for.

Every time we visit Bournemouth, we have to go to Pinocchios, the food is just amazing, and after 4 years, it was still just as fabulous as I remember. the staff are just fabulous and very relex and don't feel rushed at all. Every time one of my friends says there going to Bournemouth I always say you need to go there just amazing, one of the reasons we would come back!

Visited on a trip to Bournemouth, great place. We had a 6 year old with us, staff were so lovely and couldn't do enough for us. Food was excellent, my new favourite place, will definitely be coming back again

I've been coming here for the last 30yrs, however I think it has now changed hands, menu cut right down, no tablecloths and not very busy for Sat night. We were a party of 5, all of us so disappointed, our pizzas were burnt on the bottom and very soggy. They did replace one of the pizzas. Never again will we go here. Save your money go elsewhere

Our server Antonio was amazing 🤩 he was so fun and full of energy. And the food was absolutely amazing would definitely recommend the risotto and the sea food pasta absolutely gorgeous. We also ordered the calamari and the cocktail shrimps which was so fresh and great portion.

The staff are really welcoming and professional with a constant, honest smile on their face. Chefs are making sure the food is authentic and tasteful. I literally had my best tiramisu outside of Italy here... This is easily the best Italian restaurant in town, it is truly amazing!

We walked in as a group of 6. They immediately created a table for us despite not booking. We had quality food and service throughout, and they accommodated personal needs. Pizza was incredible!

Came here on a busy Saturday night without a booking but they managed to fit myself and 3 friends in. The atmosphere was lovely, friendly staff and amazing food! We all had pizza's which were perfection! Loved it and will definitely be back 😊 can't wait to come back l! Thanks Pinocchio's x

Service was good and friendly, however, that was let down by the terrible soggy under cooked pizza, with extra anchovies which definitely where not extra with only 4 on the pizza, unless 2 anchovies is the normal. Both mine and friends pizza was sent back, when they came back out the new pizza was over cooked and dry with Still with only 4 anchovies after asking for extra. The staff then started to shut the restaurant down around us and clattering and polishing cutlery, poorly managed from above. This lead to unpleasant atmosphere and over all experience. The third person on the table said their food was okay but nothing special. This restaurant used to be so good. new owners please don’t destroy a good well well thought after restaurant.

AMAZING from start to finish. The food was outstanding. My husband and our friend had the calzone and I had chicken with white wine sauce. We all said it was the nicest meal we had eaten in a long time, that is a huge compliment as we eat out regularly. The people sitting next to us had pizza and risotto which looked wonderful. They said they were regulars and had never had a bad meal, which I can honestly believe. The staff were lovely. I am gluten free and was made aware of what I could choose from. The atmosphere was warm and friendly. Unfortunately we live over 200 miles away but we will most definitely visit again when we are next in the area. THANK YOU for making our last holiday meal one to remember.

Special starter mussels, unbelievable, garlic bread was full of flavour, and both me and my girlfriend agree, best carbonara we have ever had!!
