I rang ahead and booked a table to two. When we arrived, we entered the restaurant, and found a member of staff who seated us in the empty restaurant, asking if we wanted the lights turned on!. We were very disappointed with the very limited menu, choice of main course limited to 6 burger options, and 4 other options, 2 of which were pasta based. We gave our order, when our drinks arrived, and after waiting a further 55 minutes, we left the money for our drinks on the table, and left. In the whole time we waited in the empty restaurant, we were not once approached by a member of staff to ask if everything was fine, or to be informed of the progress of our meals (which should have taken no more than 15 minutes to prepare). Appalling service. We will not go there again and to be honest, we are surprised they are still in business.

I would like to recommend The Ward Arms (The Witch and Sow) to all those who are looking for somewhere pleasant, and with good service, to eat and / or drink. This pub (and restaurant) is tucked away in the centre of a tiny village off the main road and is a little gem. I visited the pub for lunch on a Saturday with a few people from my walking group. The Chef knew we planned to be there after a morning walk in the area and had prepared a delicious curried parsnip soup especially for us. This lovely gesture helped to make the occasion even more enjoyable. Those of us who stayed for lunch all agreed that sitting in the pub garden in the shade and eating delicious food was a perfect way to end the morning. The guys who served us were really friendly and welcoming. I know that a couple of the group were hoping to return to ‘The Witch and Sow’ and the other walkers would hear through the grapevine that they missed a treat.

Thanks for the booking on Mothers Day 2024. We arrived arrive a little early and were seated by Imogen. She is a true credit to your staff paying attention to all her tables with Josh assisting her. The food was tremendous; Chicken roast, Lamb roast, Carbonara (adult size for an 11yo) with obligatory brownie sundae all in good quantities and very tasty so please also pass on our praise to your kitchen staff. Our daughter loved the carbonara and believe me it can be hard to please her with pasta as she can be fussy as she knows what she likes. I know patrons like to moan and can be keyboard warriors when service or food doesn't live up to their expectations however I firmly believe that praise should be given where warranted, especially for younger staff who are earning a wage and doing it well. Please pass on our gratitude and praise to Imogen for a great day out. Our daughter now has a new favourite restaurant and is planning our next visit with inlaws. Hopefully in the summer when cycling through Guilsborough we can pop in for a refreshing drink too. Thank you.

We booked a late table for Sunday lunch ( doing this means you could be served food that’s been cooked for a while) and what a delicious roast we all had. Everything tasted fresh and as though it had just come from the oven. We weren’t rushed in fact we were there for 3 hours chatting! The staff were friendly. The food was plentiful and the whole experience was one we will repeat again soon! We all had the beef after a starter of the local Brixworth pate. And finished sharing a Brownie sundae. They have a good selection of wines and beers . Unfortunately their coffee machine was out of order.

We visited for lunch whilst in the area today. The pub is located in a very attractive village and externally looked very nice. We got seated quickly and after a bit of a wait our orders were taken. The lunch menu was extremely limited and the waitress told us there were items not available on it either. Sadly we opted for the gammon egg and chips which turned up after a 15 minutes wait. Although we ate it all, the chips were very McDonald's like and the gammon was extremely salty, almost sent it back it was that much so. With 3 pints of coke/ale it totalled £39. Service was a bit slow but there was a wedding going on and many gathered in the bar area. On the whole, we will not return unless the menu was a bit more varied. Visited 2nd September 2023.

Dropped into Coton Manor for viewing the snow drops and booked a lunch at this Historic pub. It’s modern but not. It has retained a traditional look for an old village pub, wood beams, decoration, lighting and most important, I very good selection of local ales and some fizzy larger stuff. What I liked and all my friends did was the simplicity of the menu. Simple. Local food from local farms. Wonderful. I’ll be going again. Got to mention the hostess , who was a hoot.

Me and my boyfriend came in for a Sunday roast, the meat was dry and you could tell it had just been reheated, the vegetables were mushy and cold. The yorkies were rock hard, like they had been cooked the night before and customer service wasn’t very good. Everyone looked miserable and when I said about my meal I got told the comments would be passed on and that we would get a free desert. We chose the banoffee cheesecake which was yet again not appetizing, there was nothing to decorate it and the cheesecake itself just tasted like vanilla. No sauce, no bananas nothing. We have been in a couple of times before and we haven’t had any issues, but it’s clear that the Sunday chef has changed and not to a very good one. There was no attempt to make our experience better apart from the free desert. We will not be returning.

Had the two course lunch deal from Group On BUT what we failed to realise was that the "two course" element specifically referred to a starter and main course however we were under the impression that it was a choice of starter or dessert as it wasn't mentioned anywhere. SO we all had mains (cod and chips was ok - found bones and chips were like the ones in a school canteen) and then we had desserts (banoffee cheesecake was completely tasteless and I feel like it was missing toppings - it came with no decoration at all so not sure where the banoffee element was supposed to be? The brownie was verrry dry). When we got the bill, it was obviously twice as much as we were expecting so we asked the manager and she didn't deal with it professionally. She took the dessert charge off but was clearly very sour about it. Had she dealt with it more politely, we'd be more inclined to return and try it again. Nevermind!

4 of us recently used a Groupon deal to eat at this pub/restaraunt in Guilsborough Village near Rugby. We highly recommend the food and will go back. All the food is cooked on the premises. The starters ranged from £5.50 for a good sized bowl of homemade soup with a good helping of bread, up to £8 max. The main meals were £12+ and worth every penny. We all ended up having sticky ribs with fries and homemade coleslaw. The ribs were the very best l have ever eaten. They were cooked to perfection, generous size and delicately coated in BBQ sauce. We could not manage a sweet. You will not regret going to the Witch and Sow for a meal. Google for directions. Highly recommend.Irene Landless.

Visited here last week with my parents and was really looking forward to it as it was a gift from me to my husband, Mother and Father. The waitress then came over to our table and told us several items on the menu were out of stock. I fancied scotch egg then fish and chips but neither items were available. My husband had his heart set on a beef pie but that too was unavailable and my Mother wanted ham, egg and chips, again not available. We chose to have Brixworth Pate as a starter which was nice then an overly priced, dry as a desert chicken curry with hardly any sauce! Very disappointed. Slow service, the most limited menu ever and poor value for money. Is there a Chef shortage here? On the plus side though, the wallpaper outside the toilets was lovely.

Visited here with friends for lunch, first impressions were good, it was nice and clean with a roaring fire. It seemed we were the first diners of the day so expected a swift and attentive service. Everything just seemed to take forever, we had a cloudy pint that had to be changed, a dirty lipsticked glass that had to be changed, limited choice and things not in stock or on the menu. There seemed a good selection of items on the menu and ordered a few starters and six main courses. The starters arrived and looked good and were well received so we looked forward to our main courses. 2 of our diners ordered exactly the same main and one came with coleslaw and one didn’t, one main didn’t arrive until after some of us had finished our mains. I ordered the slow cooked lamb with dauphinois potato, I received some dry pressed shredded lamb pieces compressed into a circle that looked like something I have seen in a cat food advert, the dauphinois was mashed potato with some grey grainy jus that had slopped up the side of the plate and looked very unappealing. It tasted as bad as it looked and it was bland, dry and lacked any seasoning. I had finished my whiskers when my husband’s fish and chips turned up. We also noticed other tables seemed to have plates delivered at all different times so eating together seemed to be very difficult - not really acceptable in a restaurant where only three tables were occupied. The poor waiter seemed to be doing an awful lot where it appeared the wheels had fallen off. He tried his best albeit in a slow and not very dynamic fashion but appeared very let down by his kitchen and was left to apologise and be embarrassed at the front of house but it wasn't really his fault. On a positive, my friend's beef and Stilton pie did taste lovely. If you have a small

I have passed this pub several times over the last few years on my way to and from Coton Gardens but never quite got round to making a visit until tonight. as part of my 2019 pub tour of Northamptonshire....always good to have a hobby! I was expecting a spit and sawdust decor but was pleasantly surprised by a interesting blend of modern and traditional features; clearly recently refurbished. With a mouth watering array (but limited - always a good sign of quality ) of dishes on the menu I finally opted for the Chef's Chilli and Rice which was simply outstanding and the best Chilli ever (sorry The Hope Carshalton - even better than yours which I thought would never be beaten). I followed this with a banoffee cheesecake which was clearly home made and again outstanding. Only poser for me was why was it so quiet especially as compared to other pubs on my county pub crawl which have been heaving on a Wednesday night but no where near the quality of food... highly recommend a visit.

I went for the first time a few weeks back on Sunday. yhe place was massively understaffed 2 guys there serving drinks taking orders and waiting tables, we waited a good 30 mins before we even ordered drinks a good hour until we ate. The guys working were very apologetic and you could see they were trying their best (shame on the owners leaving them in that position) they are lucky to have such great staff. So after being really irriated and hungry or roast dinner arrived and I have to say it was one of the best roasts I have had, it was lovely couldn't fault it, I would just say we need more of it, we asked for extra roasties which was no problem and I would of loved some yorkshire puddings. Dessers was lovely although they had run out of whatever would of been my first choice. The manager working at the time gave us a voucher to use against our next meal and apologised again. Unusually, I’m going to start this out with something that went wrong. But it’s deserved, because I was so impressed by how it was handled. Okay, it was just a tiny thing - we ordered a Coke Zero and the glass bottle showed it being out of date - we raised this concern, and the staff were delightful. They didn’t just apologise and give the “we’ll knock it off the bill”; they went through all bottles, informed us of what action was being taken and demonstrated ultimate professionalism about the situation (obvs they did take it off).

This is our local and they clearly recognise I am a posh bird which, of course, I am. Innit.... being said posh bird I'm always delighted with the free raspberry in my prosecco. Thank you Kevin. We had yet another fantastic experience tonight tainted only by being charge £800 for our meat raffle winnings from last night!!! I mean it was big but I've never been charged that much for a nice bit of pork. We felt embarrassed, abused and conned but because they're such fantastic staff and it's always such a brilliant experience we surmised that perhaps we were mistaken. But No! It was no mistake. Apparently it was a joke! How dare they try to make our meal more entertaining! We're never going back until tomorrow but only because they do a bloody good Sunday lunch. Well done guys. Always fantastic.

The Witch and Sow hits a holy (or should that be un-holy) trinity of great pub experiences. Firstly, and maybe most crucial, the drinks are brilliant with some great beer, some excellent lager and some fruity cider for the ladies (or me). Secondly the food is amazing. Home cooked nachos, succulent piglet burger and the most wonderful Stilton fries. Lastly the staff and warm and engaging. The whole experience was a utter, utter, delight. I will definitely be back.

We live in Northamptonshire and one Friday evening decided to visit here for dinner, having not been inside for years. We shared a starter of pate with bloomer bread which was ok, but I've had far better. I had the beef wellington for mains which was good and my husband had the bacon chop which he enjoyed. The service was good. I was surprised at how quiet it was in the restaurant, my friend lives nearby and said we must book as it's always do busy, but the waiter laughed over the phone when I asked if he had a table for 2 available that evening, I knew why upon entering the restaurant and being told to choose our own table. We shared a coffee espresso icecream sundae for dessert which was nice but had far too many roasted coffee beans in it. The Sunday lunch sounded good so I think we'll go back and give that a try!

We were recommended The Witch and Sow by friends. Lovely venue on a sunny Sunday lunchtime, we had the option to sit inside or outside in the gardens which was lovely. All of us had roast dinner, two beef, one lamb and a childs roast dinner. We were all very impressed, melt in the mouth meat, huge Yorkshire puddings and tasty accompaniments. Sticky Toffee pudding and lovely icecream for desert was to die for. Service was impeccable, nothing was too much trouble, staff were attentive but not in your face and we will definitely be returning. Very impressed!

First time here upon a recommendation to celebrate my nieces 15th birthday. We weren’t disappointed. Lovely environment with helpful staff who made recommendations from the menu. Food was cooked to perfection - just like your nan would make but better (don’t tell my nan!). Home made food, staff that really knew the menu and an atmosphere that you couldn’t fault. Nothing was too much trouble and would definitely recommend.

Chose this pub off the internet as midway meeting point with friends - what a find, really impressed! Surroundings and menu super, quality of food excellent, choice of menu lovely (we'll have to come back to work our way through the menu!). Houmous starter was divine! We went on a Wednesday lunch time - can't understand why we were the only ones eating - the lighter bites menu looked terrific as well. We are already planning another meet up! Thank you.

Another delicious meal at The Witch and Sow and lovely welcome from Terry and the rest of the team. Best dishes for us, Halloumi burger and double Sow, and the roasts on Sunday 12-3 are gorgeous. Amazing desserts especially cheesecake, wow! Good value as well and worth a visit.

We were very impressed with the pub/restuarant. Coming from leicester it was a nice treat to have food in a country pub. There was a good selection of food to choose from...would definitely recommend the steak & ale pie, the brownie was AMAZING too! You could tell the food was homemade. The waiters were very welcoming and friendly, good service. We had a lovely evening and would definitely recommend it.

We were recommended this pub by our hosts though it was some miles from the village we were in. there had clearly been a lot of money spent to bring it back to life after an extended closure. there were 3 hand pumps for draught beer. The meal was served by enthusiastic staff and was hot and plenty full

I haven't always been a fan of this pub, but I have to say, it has really really come on in the last 2 years. We now visit every couple of weeks and it is always a great experience. The new menu is varied and interesting and the food is cracking! There is a young team in there, who are fantastic, attentive and very friendly. I am always drawn to the Beef Wellington, which is beautiful, but a recent foray in to the Steak and Stilton Pie has left me with a dilemma on my next visit!!

Had a fantastic feed of well presented and delicious food. I had the Scotch egg followed by the Beef Wellington. Both dishes were exquisite, full of flavour and well portioned. The manager/chef was extremely friendly and helpful. I will be back before I head back to Australia. Best food I have eaten in the UK.

As locals we have eaten here a few times now and always have lovely food and excellent service. Pie night last week was fab and the fish and chips is delicious. Sunday lunch is a real treat. 😋 We look forward to many more yummy meals and entertaining evenings watching live bands. Keep up the great work. We’re lucky to have you.

Visited the Middlemore Farm today for the first time and it was incredible. 10/10 service from our waitress, couldn’t do enough for us. Not just us, but all the tables round us. She was a lovely lady. The food was incredible. We had a roast and was all super pleased, probably one of the best I’ve ever had. Very filling as well and very tasty. Would definitely recommend and will be back.

We had a fantastic time celebrating my Father’s birthday here. The decor looks modern and everything was spotlessly clean. The staff were delightful, welcoming and very friendly. The Sunday Dinner was stunning, with a good amount of well-cooked food. The burgers were also fantastic with the ‘BH’ press on them. The prices were very reasonable for both food and drink. Very impressed and would absolutely return.

Lovely pub…and the chicken supreme I had was to die for, with so much flavour. You got to try it for yourself to understand. My partner had a beef burger and it was humongous and so nicely made and presented. All for such a good price. Loved the Hawkstone cider too.
