We went for a drink there at 4:15pm Friday and it was closed, despite the website saying opening hours start at 4pm. Disappointed.

In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a hobbit-hole, and that means comfort. It had a perfectly round door like a porthole, painted green, with a shiny yellow brass knob in the exact middle. The door opened on to a tube-shaped hall like a tunnel: a very comfortable tunnel without smoke, with panelled walls, and floors tiled and carpeted, provided with polished chairs, and lots and lots of pegs for hats and coats—the hobbit was fond of visitors. The tunnel wound on and on, going fairly but not quite straight into the side of the hill—The Hill, as all the people for many miles round called it—and many little round doors opened out of it, first on one side and then on another. No going upstairs for the hobbit: bedrooms, bathrooms, cellars, pantries (lots of these), wardrobes (he had whole rooms devoted to clothes), kitchens, dining-rooms, all were on the same floor, and indeed on the same passage. The best rooms were all on the left-hand side (going in), for these were the only ones to have windows, deep-set round windows looking over his garden, and meadows beyond, sloping down to the river. This hobbit was a very well-to-do hobbit, and his name was Baggins. The Bagginses had lived in the neighbourhood of The Hill for time out of mind, and people considered them very respectable, not only because most of them were rich, but also because they never had any adventures or did anything unexpected: you could tell what a Baggins would say on any question without the bother of asking him. This is a story of how a Baggins had an adventure, and found himself doing and saying things altogether unexpected. He may have lost the neighbours’ respect, but he gained—well, you will see whether he gained anything in the end. The drinks are nicely mixed and the staff are nice. Happy to talk and make recommendations as well as serve a nice cocktail.

Don't normally write reviews but feel compelled to do so on this occasion. Went there on Saturday night 29/04/23 with my wife and two friends, wasn't overly busy but we must have been invisible to staff at the bar as no one even acknowledged us. One of the bar staff eventually thought it was time to serve us but changed his mind when a couple of other customers said they had been there longer waiting to be served when they hadn't. We thought enough is enough and decided to leave, my friend told the female supervisor/manager on the way out about the abysmal service but she was too busy on her phone to really care. Won't be going back that's for sure!

Lovely place warm and comforting😊. Great decor, modern and chic. Very clean and tidy. Polite, presentable and helpful staff. Really enjoyed the drinks😋. Great idea for first customers having a offer on drinks. Will definitely come again and I will also recommend. I was actually there for single and mingle night 😊

Amazing Sunday dinner, the gravy, veg and most importantly, the meat (I had duck) was really good. My only complaint would be the amount of carrots and potatoes you got and that there wasn't a dessert menu. Other than that, I would recommend!

Would give a zero if I could!! Unfortunately they employed a Manager who decided to steal from the business resulting in my friends engagement party not being booked as told and being asked to pay another deposit despite evidencing it had already been paid!! Could’ve been so different no flexibility or accountability says a lot about a venue for me but we had a great time thanks to @brewhouse in west bridgford 🎉❤️🎉

Kahlo immersive - went in on opening at noon - big mistake as venue ended up being crowded. The space, long and narrow is problematic when crowded. I've been to two church-based immersive experiences recently and the bigger space and much fewer numbers make for a far better experience. Advice to management - have maximum numbers to allow all visuals to be fully appreciated. Advice to attenders - try to go at times when numbers may be low (certainly, don't go at opening of the day due to likely queues and high numbers in the viewing space. Given my previous immersive experiences, this is not the best space for these events.

It’s well located close to Main Street with a pay & display carpark close by. It’s a lovely, spacious and well decorated bar / restaurant establishments l. The service staff is friendly and efficient during our visit! Our first time trying the Sunday roast and we loved it!! 👍🏻💯 The roast beef and pork belly were freshly prepared and well seasoned… not the usual “carvery -style” the meat are cooked to perfection! The vegetables and sides are all delicious combine with the thick meat gravy! We highly recommend this place and thanks to Tom & his team making our Sunday night out great!

Could be better. Great quality of food, and well presented. However, whilst the Flat Iron Stake was top quality it was almost cold when served. The only other observations were, Cocktail was average, and as we were the only couple eating on the lower level, and the service was painfully slow to start. I hope they can pick up on these points as it is given as positive feedback on what could be a top notch restaurant

Amazingly good wine by the glass. Fresh, and good quality, no hint whatsoever that it had been sitting open on a shelf for eons. Accompanied by some very yummy nibbles. (And some good tunes but since at 50+ I'm possibly not target market, I possibly got lucky on that. Although everyone else was considerably younger and still seemed to be enjoying them!)

My partner and I had afternoon tea here over this past weekend. The bottle of wine that we ordered with the afternoon tea was very nice, as were the cakes and scones that came with it. However, our one criticism was with regards to the sandwiches. The fillings in the sandwiches were very nice. However, the bread itself was actually cold and very dry and difficult to eat as it was quite thick as well. We came to the conclusion that the bread had been stored in a refrigerator for some time, and as a consequence, this is what resulted in the bread being very dry. We paid £20 each for the afternoon tea and we felt that we would have had a fresher product elsewhere, as the quality of the bread let it down significantly and also we didn't have a choice of tea (which we also had to ask for). It was also not a bottomless pot - we were given one cup each. In conclusion, based on our experience, I would not recommend for afternoon tea.

Rude and unfriendly staff, they act like they're doing you a favour by serving you. They also ask if you want to add a tip even though you've ordered at the bar. I've been a few times and it's been consistently bad. Shame as its a nice venue with nice wines, even though they are pricey.

After leaving a review for Wine Room Mapperley, it felt only fair to leave one for the city as my main reason for leaving the mapperley on was because of my visit here reminding me of my poor experiences. My husband and I went to the city wine room for my birthday to be greeted with no one at the bar, once someone turned up he said ‘yeh?’ To which both of us looked at each other and considered walking out, the bartender had zero manners, didn’t make us feel welcome, drinks were just ok and no different to the rest of the city and we will not return. Such a shame for a venue who could be amazing, we recognised one of the bar tenders from mapperley who was possibly the only person who gave good service on the top working at the city venue but even he seemed unhappy.

Between 12.00pm - 6.00pm We had Gambas Pil Pil Salmon Teriyaki Fish Goujons Calamari Chicken Wings Patatas Bravas It's all served together as a Platter to share. They were very busy and the place was rocking with music and a saxophone 🎷 player too. Great place to go in town if you want food and lively atmosphere.

Somebody is wasting an incredible amount of money keeping this place open. Enough staff for one waitress per table, or at least there would be if they weren't behind the bar eating, spinning trays, chatting with their mates and showing each other cat videos on their phones. I experienced far more attentive service when I popped into Barnardos earlier in the day. Most places make some sort of effort to sell drinks but staff here seem utterly disinterested in turning a profit. Probably one of the worst meals I've experienced, but since there was nothing in particular that the kitchen would have been able to rectify, we opted not to bother complaining at the time. The dishes that were obviously pre-prepared were basic, yet edible, however the dishes cooked in house were prepared to a standard far poorer than my partner and I could have achieved ourselves. We were particularly underwhelmed by the spinach 'pakoras' which turned out to be unseasoned spinach leaves deep fried to varying extents which congealed into a birds nest of flaky batter and leaves. Another review mentioned the questionable music blaring out of the numerous speakers, which is only exacerbated by the server's tuneless whistling and singing. Certainly not conducive to an enjoyable dining experience. In summary - don't bother, though if you're still keen to try this place out, I'd do so quickly before it goes under and gets replaced by something else.

Has a lot of potential, great location and aesthetically pleasing with an extensive wine list and plenty of non wine drinks. Had a glass of the Primitivo which was excellent. Reason for the 3 stars is the bizarre music playlist. Mysterious Girl and Gangsters Paradise at 6pm on a Friday is bizarre at best for one of the cities only dedicated wine bars. Not the atmosphere I would hope for, but has a lot of potential as mentioned.

Really disappointing. Very different from the other branch. Both ladies were on their phones upon arriving. When asked what different types of proteins are available “chicken, beef or pork” was the response. There was no detail of the type of proteins (marinade/cooking type etc). Both workers had no idea what type of food they were serving which is very shocking for this sort of establishment.

Had a great time at Blend Cafe. Located on bottom floor of Nottingham Contemporary. Friendly staff. Nice range of coffee, sweet treats and savoury meals. Lots of open, comfortable seating. Ample space for large group gatherings. Really enjoyed my soup and grilled cheese - both very tasty with nice cheese skirt on the sandwich. Will be coming back again in future - it’s a great baby-friendly cafe and will be nice to combine with a visit to the art gallery too!
