Went there yesterday afternoon and was served by Jade who was very friendly and jolly. Lovely atmosphere and the food was served quickly. A massive improvent on previous visits.

Really enjoyed our meal here. Food was tasty and hot. Service was quick and friendly. It really was outstanding for the price. What let the restaurant down was the car park. Whilst I appreciate that the guest car which had parked in the loading bay meaning the laundry lorry completely blocking access to the disabled bays (and making access to the rest of the car park awkward) was not the fault of the restaurant or Premier Inn, the amount of litter in the car park is. Discarded dog poo bags, half empty drink bottles, fast food wrappers that all looked as though they had been there sometime is not a pleasant welcome

On arrival, it was good to find a large, spacious carpark. Inside is clean and spacious. All the staff were friendly and helpful, especially April, who served us. The food was delicious, I had garlic mushrooms, to start and lasagne for my main course.

Stayed over night, fantastic staff and service. Would highly recommend 👌 👍

Food fantastic so much variety breakfast for £10.99 you can eat as much as you like hot food all the usual hot foods beans sausages bacon hashbrowns Black sausage mushrooms scrambled egg fried egg toast crumpets list goes on ,and you can eat continental breakfast as well as the hot foods all types of tea coffees juices yogurts fresh fruit very spacious setting my only fault was the some previous customers plates were not cleared away several tables with used plates and some spilt foods on them but maybe we were just unlucky that day ,but despite that it would not stop me going again ok for parking as well.

Good food, very reasonable prices and friendly, helpful staff. Altogether, a joy, we will be revisiting soon.

I find the restaurant convenient in this case, as both my children enjoy the soft play provided, and often make friends there when we visit. They both enjoy the mains and desserts on the kids' menu, but I do struggle when it comes to their starters. I do wish they'd have a drink within the special price meal deal if they do not wish to have any of the starters available.

Better this time than the last as we had a voucher again which thankfully staff knew how to put through the till the rack of ribs was lovely only issues this time was the soft drink machine seemed low on syrups for Dr pepper and some pepsi were coming out as water did ask to get it replaced it was promised but never happened .

The food was served on cold plates therefore food went cold very quickly which made it unpalatable. The tables were not cleared and only given a quick wipe down when cleared with a cold J cloth which was left on the opposite table

We had booked and told no food for another half an hour as ovens not working. No offer of complimentary drink. When we did go to order our drinks we heard others ordering food which we’d been told we couldn’t do for half an hour so we was way back in the orders! When food arrived the burgers were well overcooked and the smothered chicken wasn’t smothered in anything it had been over cooked on the outside! Certainly wouldn’t recommend

Went to this place yesterday the breakfast was cold had to wait 15 mins for tomatoes staff see my standing there and ignored me the staff and staff were rude as well.

Cheap food and poor service here. Had dinner as part of the meal deal package while staying at the premier inn. We felt like we were an inconvenience to the staff and everything seemed like hard work. The staff bringing the food out were the exception and actually seemed to want to be there. Food was mediocre, at best. I had a smothered platter and the cheese “smothering” it was just a square of processed cheese melted on top. Desserts were ok. Probably better to go to the McDonald’s over the road.

We had my son’s birthday at the Hastings restaurant and kirstie and Neil was absolutely brilliant! They made him feel so special and went out of their way for us definitely recommend and will be coming back because of them two. Perfect service

We were staying next door in the premier inn 07/06/2024. Before check in my wife and I popped in for lunch and a drink. Book your car in for parking. Staff very pleasant and helpful, food was excellent and quick to serve, reasonably priced etc. Also had a take out meal to have in our room (Collect yourself).

Ordered from the value menu and was very disappointed in the size and quality. Ordered the jacket potato only got half a very small potato with a very small amount of chilli and a salad that consisted of half a tomato and some roughly chopped lettuce leaves 😔

A Memorable Meal at The Windmill: Great Food and Super Friendly Staff Last Sunday, my boyfriend insisted that we invite my ex-husband to join us for a family meal at The Windmill. Though I wasn't thrilled, I agreed, hoping the food and friendly staff would ease the tension. From the moment we arrived, the staff greeted us warmly and quickly seated us by the window, keeping the kids entertained with the view. My ex-husband, who has let himself go and sometimes sleeps on the streets, predictably didn’t offer to contribute when the bill came, leaving me to cover the cost. It was shameful, but the wonderful service and atmosphere made up for it. The friendly staff regularly checked in, making the dining experience enjoyable despite the company. When the bill came, my ex-husband didn’t even offer to pay for his meal, leaving me to cover the cost. It was shameful, but the wonderful service and atmosphere made up for it. The kids were thrilled with their complimentary ice cream, a perfect end to the meal. The Windmill offers great food and a welcoming atmosphere. We left happy and full, already planning our next visit. If you're in Hastings, The Windmill is a must-visit – even with less-than-ideal company.

Had the carvery. Found a long dark hair in the food. Manager informed. Apologised then walked off with the plate which was still quite full of food. Other staff didn't seem bothered. No offer of replacement or anything so not impressed at all. Bought some chips an hour later as hungry. Wouldn't eat there again.

Quality of my food was good, food was hot, I ordered simple loaded cheesebuger on chips as was very economical. Plenty of dips and sauces and service was faultless

Pretty poor to be honest. Had dinner here and despite being told by staff that everything on the menu was included in our premier inn room deal, we still ended up being charged extra for most items on the menu. We waited 47 minutes from ordering, to getting our food, and a further 40 minutes before we got our desert. We physically had to get up and ask someone if we could have our desert as the service was almost non existent. There was a massive que to order food at the bar, the food was average at best, and the desert was ok. We have had better evenings out at the likes of pizza Express etc where you can get 3 course meals for less than what you pay here. Shame really ...

Where do I start. I originally booked a table online for 1815 and then wanted to change the time after personal commitments changed so wanted to change to 1730 so I phoned and they couldn’t find my booking so made another one. One of the party was on a walking stick so still sat us away from the main area and nearer the soft play after I asked to be close to entrance as possible. We were told our table numbers and then told to order at the bar not a problem but when you had a queue and the bar only had 2 workers on the bar and others standing around. I wouldn’t mind but the restaurant wasn’t busy. Now to the fun bit. We ordered a couple mixed grills ne being medium rare and one well done a kids steak medium and a few other bits. The starters came quite quickly and not a complaint about these. However then comes the mains and the kids steak had to be sent back twice as it was well well done and could bounce off the wall if you threw it. One of the mixed grill was medium rare and again that was well well done and then took it away and brought me another steak that was even worse so that went back and they decided to bring my plate back with no steak and was told it would be 3-5 minutes so my other food got cold so they took the whole lot and apparently they gave me a whole new dinner however this time the peas had changed colour and the chips were burnt as it had been reheated and the eggs were how I left them so it wasn’t a complete new dinner I took 2 mouthfuls and it tasted horrible so didn’t eat it. I was given a refund on my meal however they should have done the kids meal as that went back and a few other things went back. Even the mushy peas on my partners fish and chips was rock hard. I think they need to sack the chef and get someone who gives a dam about the food. And as a qualified chef I would be ashamed of how that service went. That is one place I will not ever go to again with the family for dinner. Shame on you brewers fayre it was horrible. Least everyone else had desserts I didn’t want anything after that experience

The food was nice. Not 1 member of staff smiled they all seamed pretty stressed, maybe they were short staffed or something. The kids loved the soft play area. If you have children with you, you get seated with the other families which is OK but very noisy lol. I went with family so we enjoyed it.

Absolutely disgraceful service. Would give -1 star if I could... Food was poor at best, warm not hot, they had one waiter trying to cover everyone, food came out it drips and drabs, couldn't wait for others food to arrive before starting as was warm not hot already so would be stone cold, we waited over an hour for food to appear. As for pudding we had to clear out table and take dirtys to them to prompt them to bring out our puddings. Complained to brewers and not had Single response from them, only a standard reply saying they have received my complaint... Do not waste your money and time on sub par food and worse service.

Enjoyed a nice meal here and it was served fairly quickly. It was a fairly peaceful Saturday night. The drinks machine was not on top form giving soft drinks with poor flavour.

Service as we entered and the bar staff were lovely! However, that is where, unfortunately, it all ends. Starters were okay-ish but whilst tucking into our starters our mains were coming out. Upon explaining we hadn't finished our starters as we had only received them a couple of minutes ago the waitress then walked around with them until we had finished the starters. The mains were cold & far from enjoyable. The atmosphere was okay.

Please isn’t too bad go there fairly often as it’s local and inexpensive. Food is ok. Avoid the toilets if you can. In need of a major upgrade and always smell. They could do with changing their menu a little more often.

We had children with us and were sat near play area, unfortunately they also sat a group of adults with absolutely foul mouths, obviously they weren't to know that but there was plenty of room away from the play area

Food was traditional fayre, decent selection, service was good although you order from the bar, no table service, but staff were very pleasant. Furnishings look very tired and need updating. Wheelchair access is via the rear walking all the way around and adjacent the children's play area, not an easy hike.

Had a lovely Easter Sunday Lunch here with my family. The carvery was delicious with lots of choice. All the staff we saw from when we were greeted, when we ordered and got our carvery meat to clearing the tables were very friendly and cheerful. The children loved the little hunt and the play area. The atmosphere was really nice and we felt very welcomed. Thank you again and I'm sure we will be back soon!

It was the first time we had been back here for several years. With the softplay area, it used to be a regular haunt for us, but as the kids grew up they didn't didn't want to go to a baby place any more. Having matured some more, it was pleasant to return. The lunchtime 2 mains for £12 was good value. One minor point: the embedded table numbers had been removed leaving an unpleasant (maybe health risk) indentation in the table. (I didn't check all the tables but it wasn't just our table.) Was it beyond reasonable cost to install blanking plates?

You get what you pay for. it's only £11.49 for 2 lunches is great value. There are many other choices that depend on your budget. Food was cooked and presented well....overall a good value place.

What can I say? This is what dining out is all about! The food and staff couldn't be more willing to help out whenever they were beckoned on. In fact it's fair to say that they waited on our small little party hand and foot. Upon entering we were promptly escorted over to our table which had an absolutely wonderful view. Now on to the food - when the food arrived and it was the definition of piping hot and fresh and was divine. It truly sent our tastebuds crazy! We simply cannot wait to come back again for a second serving. Cheers The Windmill and until next time!

Some of the rudest staff I’ve ever come across. I don’t feel compelled to write reviews often but the bar staff here were completely atrocious. Rude and disrespectful. Sold us drinks and then without a lie, 5 minutes later were telling us we had to leave because they were closing. Why sell us the drinks then? Awful, awful service.

Just a perfect setting, relaxed and tasty food

I just had a really weird and unpleasant experience at the Windmill in St Leonards. My daughter and I arrived just after breakfast had finished. There were two women in front of us with children who were told no food was being served until 11.30. They asked if they could just have drinks, the staff member said yes. Then I approach the counter and the same staff member tells me the same, no food. When I turn to look at the clock to work out if I would have time to order something at 11.30 when lunch begins being served and still leave on time for me to get my daughter to childcare and me to work, the staff member abruptly told me they were basically closed for half hour. It felt so personal, i am ashamed to say I felt like crying! I am not sure why we were rejected and the others not. Before Christmas I had been to the Windmill around the same time on a monday and the staff have been really friendly and it's never seemed a problem for us to come in and have drinks and still use the soft play. The place is empty anyway at that time and the staff would clean around us while we were there and chat to us. If there has been a change it needs to be advertised as such (but I have a feeling it hasn't, rather the staff member didn't want to have us there). Such a shame. I was just about to say we would order lunch too, so you've lost out on a bit of money because of this staff member or because of a new rule? Who knows.
