The Willows in Blackburn with Darwen

We hadn’t booked but thought we’d chance it and see if we could walk in, only to be told that they were fully booked - the place was absolutely empty. The attitude of the woman behind the bar was shocking, absolutely no need to be so horrible - would never eat here anyway due to her attitude. Blonde woman who seemed to be the manager and was on a mega power trip, get a grip!

My partner and I will our little girl came in to the pub. We hadn’t booked but because the car park was really quiet and the pub was too we thought we would chance it. Unfortunately we had to book which is fine as we did chance it. However we could not believe how rude the woman behind the bar the blonde woman spoke to us. It was really unprofessional and was disgusting especially when we had our 6 year old with us. We knew it may not have been possible but because of how quiet it was at peek time 1pm we thought that we would try. It was so uncalled for that lady to speak to us like that. I would also understand if the pub was busy and she was rushed off her feet etc but there were hardly anyone in. It was our first time visiting here and the service we received we will never come here again.

Helpful friendly staff, good grub, spotlessly clean room and a comfy bed, all very reasonably priced. Thank you.

Food Took over an hour to be cooked to then be cooked incorrect We had to go upto bar several times to ask for updates with order

The pillow had a bad smell. The room was cold. The food was very costly

We go to the quiz every Thursday, the quiz is really good and the host is probably the only reason we go back. We eat every week and we've not had a good meal yet. Constant problems with meals, food is never cooked correctly, orders wrong. Tonight was no different, all steaks cooked wrong and badly, burger drier than the Sahara desert. It's unfortunate really because it really lets the place down.

The food was delicious, the service was great.

Well situated with easy access and ample parking. Not overly busy and could be seated immediately. Scan and order/Pay so no need to queue at a bar for food/drinks. Food service was fast, value for money and tasty. Indoor/outdoor seating near the play area to keep view of kids. Outdoor play area was well maintained. Amenities like vending machines had Pokémon cards, kids games etc which emphasised the family venue feel.

My sister and I stayed overnight at Marstons inn at Willows on Saturday 15th March. I do live locally, and have had lots of meals here. However, on this occasion I was getting married the next day and chose to spend the night here to get ready for my big day. The room was nice and clean, on the ground floor which I had asked for, I had booked a twin room, Before check in, I had a call to ask if i would like to be upgraded to a family room. I certainly appreciated having a double bed to myself. We ate and drank in the willows on the night the food was very nice. We had a comfortable night sleep. We had booked the classic breakfast for the following morning,which included the continental breakfast option too. I wanted to make a special mention to Ben who cooked and served our breakfasts. Ben was very cheerful, friendly and professional, he couldn't do enough for us. The breakfast was the best cooked breakfast I have eaten in a long time, perfectly cooked, exceptional poached egg! P.s On arrival to our room, a bottle of prosecco and 2 glasses had been left to help set off our evening celebration. Thank you Willows for a wonderful stay.

Was ok, a little on the pricey side for a pub, 7 pounds for a pint, food standard- but expensive for what it is, spent 70 quid for 2 of us.

Due for an upgrade, to be honest.

Food was good but sadly lacking... five chips and a baguette only half filled was disappointing. Food was barely warm. Laura served us and her attitude was awful and nasty. Food is good quality however I was ill after the visit and now have food poisoning. Place not clean, salt pots empty and one napkin.

We come for quiz and food each week. Normally all is fine this week there was 10mins between 2 orders being brought to table. 1 of which had no sauce so we waited a further 10mins. When we complained to the manager there was a lot of excuses but not Solutions. Luckily this was the week we came alone and not with friends

A lovely welcome, we had a big party and everyone was catered for, all food came out together even though we all ordered separate which was brilliant. Thank you for making my sons 18th birthday meal brill

Carmen and the team were fantastic, excellent customer service and they genuinely care for their customers and their experience when they go there. There was almost an altercation between myself and another customer due to a comment made that I was upset by due to my son having additional needs and Carmen was very quick to come and reassure me and make sure everyyhing was okay. She was very attentive, bubbly and approachable and she is an asset to the willows, she is very good at her job and nothing was to much to ask. The staff at the bar were also very friendly and happy to help in any way they could, food was again fantastic no complaints at all. Thanks so much all of you and will see you all again soon 🙂

Used the app to order, very quick service on the drinks and a staff member came to double check one of the items which was great as turned out we had ordered the “lighter” burger instead of the regular burger which was wanted. Had she not checked we would have been disappointed with the food choice. Service was great, food was hot The kids pizza was on the small size - could have been bigger

45 minute wait for food, wasn’t pre warned there was a delay although this length of time seemed normal to this establishment. The QR app is misleading, labels healthy meal options in more detail than regular using the same information bar one word. Staff did rectify this however a further 30 minute wait while my family had already finished eating and drinking by the time my food arrived. Poor experience all round.

Good wholesome food, table service , professional, friendly welcoming staff; and a large car park. A good all-around Marstons establishment. Only downside, I didn't get to sample the draught Pedigree, a favourite fine ale of mine.

Really good and easy stay. Staff were friendly and helpful. Our stay was hassle free and the rooms were nice and clean. The pub had nice food and was served in a timely manner. It was warm inside and the lighting was nice as well with it being a yellow light rather than bright white lights. Would recommend a stay here.

What a fantastic night,food was excellent as always and the entertainment from Meatloaf was awesome. Will definitely be back for the food and entertainment and staff were outstanding.

It's a convenient place for my wife and I to stay whilst visiting relatives. It's clean with a lovely breakfast and lovely service.

The mueu has been changed alot the food wasn't up to it's normal standers ether hard to get any table severe there big gab in between our food comeing out ,our table was olny hafe cleaned we to eat our pudding looking at the plates from our main course we was really disappointed at the visit this time we wouldn't recommend it to anyone anymore staff were like head less chicken you ether couldn't find any or there were out side talking among there self's no rush getting our tables cleaned or bring out the main courses ether was a nightmare it's was really buzzy too no staff around to help anyone I waited 15 mins at bar to get a glass of coke waited 24mins to get my bill paid was a real disaster Friday night

As a customer we should be able to order anything on the menu, seeing as we are paying. Not be corralled into what they want us to buy……!

Back again, food good as always, value for money. Im practically a local now, just like to mention how friendly RYAN always is, when obviously busy he always has a smile and a quick chat.

The experience was really good. Food and drink come out quickly. I love the fact you can order from the table. The only issue was when we ordered through the link it automatically separated to starters and main when we wanted it all together. Food was really nice and reasonably priced. Will be back.

I originally planned to stay at the Willows for 2 nights, however, due to the snow/icey weather conditions I had no alternative but to extend my stay for a further 2 nights. The staff were exceptional and couldn't have accommodated me more. They were all friendly, helpful and approachable especially as it was my first time to the area. The food in the restaurant was beautiful and my room was extremely clean and comfortable. I felt like it was home from home. I would rate my stay as 5* from start to finish. Without a doubt I will be staying again and would highly recommend The Willows to anyone. I look forward to my next visit which hopefully will be in the not so distant future.

We only used the accommodation as we were too late to eat. So ignore the stars for food. The room was clean, the beds comfortable, good shower. Most importantly for me there were good supplies of tea and milk, not the usual two little containers of milk. Thank you.

Visited for a Christmas Day meal, and it was absolutely fantastic! The food was exceptional i had lamb, with great attention to detail in every dish. The service was outstanding—staff were not only efficient but also genuinely happy and welcoming, which created a really warm and festive atmosphere. The entire experience made an already special day even better. Thank you for making Christmas Day so memorable! Highly recommend.

Stayed here 3 times now and each time its been a pleasent stay.

Went for breakfast with family. It was very busy and although there was still the same choices it was a bit chaotic. They ran out of glasses and cups and the food wasn't as hot as it should have been. The waitress is lovely and never looks stressed under pressure but the bloke was quite crabby and looked stressed We are regulars for breakfast and it is very good and very reasonable Think we will not bother going again in December

Had breakfast with Santa here this morning, brilliant time was had by all! A HUGE thank you to Carmen for her help today! Laura was amazing too! World's best Elves EVER!! Will definitely be booking next year! Thank you to you all for a wonderful, special day!

We were a party of 10, and decided to eat here as a family get together after a 7 hour drive, and we were disappointed, as we waited nearly an hour for our food, just for my step dad to receive his starter with his main, another family member received a medium steak instead of medium rare, my steak was chewy, and the mushrooms were lukewarm/cold. My stepdad ordered the Mixed grill, and the egg was rubbery and well overcooked, and the whole meal was cold, and the breaded mushrooms were inedible. He complained to a waitress who was pregnant and she was moody and didn’t help at all, whereas another lady did help but we were not happy still, my stepdad received a refund, and so did the family member. Overall just not happy with wait times, food quality and the attitude towards customers from staff. Won’t be returning.

Our group was given excellent service, the food was prepared by Molly, who came to us informed us this was her first time cooking steaks, all of which came exactly as requested and tasted wonderful. Thank you to Molly!

I had a very disappointing experience at this pub. The pint of Carlsberg I ordered had an odd taste, so I left it virtually untouched. A large number of menu items were unavailable, which meant none of the three meals we ordered were what we actually wanted. I had originally wanted a mixed grill, but it wasn’t available. Strangely, the more expensive “mega mixed grill,” which had the same food items, was available, so I reluctantly settled for that with sweet potato fries. Unfortunately, the fries were overcooked to the point of being nearly burnt, and the well-done steak was so dry and tough it was hard to cut and eat. To top it off, none of the desserts we wanted were available either. While the staff were pleasant, the core purpose of this pub—providing good food and drink—was a complete letdown.

It's a pub with the usual pub food. Staff were great. Would stop there again. Great location for the hospital and very early appointments.

The team managing reception are always so lovely and she remembered me and asked how I was doing. It felt so nice for her to remember mr! The room was clean and lovely. My only dislike was the fact that the double bed (made from two single beds) was very uncomfortable as one of the beds was quite worn and hard and the other wasn’t. It was hard to get comfortable. Otherwise, the room was lovely, good TV, good WiFi single, and good climate control! I have eaten at the restaurant before and love the fact there are gluten-free menu items available as I am coeliac.

Molly our waitress was polite and very friendly. She came over and chatted with us. A real credit to the company. The food was lovely, and just enough . we didn’t have to wait too long for it.and was excellent value for money. The pub was warm and seasonally decorated ( we went in December). There was plenty of room to move around the tables and you didn’t feel crowded. The young ladies on the reception ( in the pub) were polite. And welcoming. Everything was explained to us as this was our first time staying at the Willows

We visited the Willows Family of 3 on Friday tea time, very prompt service, they took our drinks order straight away and food was lovely, nice and hot. Our servers Toni and Steph were polite, welcoming and very helpful. Will definitely visit again. 😊

My partner was sent home from work yesterday after suffering food poisoning from the place. I’m surprised she went in at all but it was with work. I haven’t been in since eat out to help out. They made me, my two daughters, and their two cousins wait two hours for food. It became clear that they had no interest in serving us. There was absolutely no resistance from management when I asked for our money back. Then I realised: I’d paid on card. I was refunded in cash. Not bad at all for the company when the government is paying 50% of a meal which wasn’t even prepared. No wonder they had no interest in serving us! After my partner’s experience, maybe it was a blessing that we never ate there.

The willows hosted a funeral for a family member ,, under the circumstances we had a lovely time at the willows and was well looked after by Laura, Molly and Milly,, also the manager James was very helpful with the day , food was fabulous xx

We stayed here for the weekend visiting friends and celebrating my son’s 5th birthday. We went in for breakfast and the front of house girls (Carmen and Laura) could not do enough for us. Our son mentioned that it was his birthday and Carmen bought his pancakes out with strawberry sauce and chopped his strawberries up in square pieces to mimic Minecraft blocks. Fantastic service and we will definitely be returning the next time to visit.

Absolutely avoid this place staff attitude is shocking, My 25 year old son ordered his food and a non alcoholic drink and got asked for ID . The attitude was shocking. After the Manger came over , who was very polite, we explained that it wasn’t the fact the the company policy was not to serve even non Alcoholic beverages with out ID , it was the fact that the member of staff attitude was awful and the way the way she talked to me was like a kid not a 49 year old. The member of staff seriously needs to learn people skills and also learn that smoking on the premises even outside whilst wearing the same clothes is a health and safety issue. Manger great staff need training. Good job we weren’t working for then Burnley express food critics .
