Held our silver wedding anniversary party here. The staff were highly attentive , great buffet ( different from your usual run of the mill ) . Overall a great night. Would not hesitate to book again

Some of the worst beer in Darwen. To be fair they swapped the undrinkable Leffe for some equally sour and undrinkable Campden.....cocktails are good, staff are great, beers just horrible....

Had a fab Saturday night. In Artisan for scooter and Motown weekend . Great music and the girl singer ' Nicola's was fantastic , creating an enjoyable atmosphere. The young bar staff are amazing so pleasant and efficient . Thank you!!

We had our baby shower at Artisan on Saturday and it was the most perfect day! The staff were incredible and went above and beyond to make our day special and stress free. Would highly recommend and will definitely be using Artisan for future events. Thanks again to everyone involved!

We were in this bar for a hen do on Saturday night. We were there for over 3 hours & we had 6 drinks in this time & charged 5 different prices for the same drinks. Ranging from £10 to £15 for 2 gin & tonics. Didn't notice till I looked at bank statement. Also the drinks tasted watered down.

A nice, well presented place, efficient & friendly staff, & the female singer that evening had a great voice & repertoire + great interaction with all of us customers - gracias! We didn't eat, just drinks (& the free nuts).

Drinks and Snacks, pleasant enough.

The family and I visited the Artisan cafe for a drink following a walk on the moors. . The cafe boasts a convenient location in Darwen town centre, a great selection of drinks, and stylish decor. Service was great thanks to a friendly host, however the cafe itself was very quiet but it was a Sunday so this is likely to be the reason. . Definitely return when walking in and around the Darwen moors.

The worst buffet I have ever had. All deep fried and the chicken legs were so dry and over cooked. Can’t believe how much they charge for drinks and they can’t even put a half decent spread on for a function owner was taking money out of the bandit after anyone went on it and was very abusive to staff

Had my daughters 30th on 25th february I couldn't ask for more great buffet good music and friendly service from the bar staff kept in contact with the owner throughout he was very attentive, lovely man would recommend to have any parties here thankyou

Took my neices and nephew tonight for a birthday meal and was very impressed. Was a beautiful setting and the man looking after us popped us in a quiet booth making it feel special and he couldn’t have been more attentive. Food was lovely too. Great little place.

Would be five starts if not for the toilet facilities being ABIT under staderd it's great value for money the neal was amazing. I'm definitely cc oming back.

Couldn't organise a p*ss up in a brewery 🤷‍♀️ Went to a 40th party there and the owner was advised there would be 50+ people attending at 7pm. He arranged One staff and himself to serve us all night. Ran out of wine and beers. The food was bought from the local supermarket. I had to ask twice for them to put more loo roll in the ladies. I don't know how he's kept that place going

We held my partners 60th Birthday party on the 26th of November 2022 and what an absolutely smashing venue it is. Everyone had a great time and the food was great and the staff were lovely. Massive thank you to Jason also. One very satisfied customer 🥳

This was average at best, nothing “artisan” about it and was nothing to shout and dance about. The food was ok but like I say, didn’t think much of it. The prices are very overpriced for what you get. I could probably make the same, if not better myself, at home. Not what you really expect paying them prices, you expect better. The bar area seemed grubby and not very clean also. Wouldn’t go again by choice, I know a few other eateries/drinkeries cheaper and better in my personal opinion.

Held out Baby Celebration here and what an event it was. Fantastic space, great buffet and the staff being so helpful!! Can't wait to hold another for more celebrations. Would recommend to anybody and visit when we can! Beautiful venue!

We came last year for the Halloween afternoon tea and the Christmas one also. The kids loved it!!! So we thought we would book again. The photos they put on Facebook looked amazing again!!! but this year was a bit of a let down unfortunately, it was no where near as good, the milkshake was just warm coloured milk that the kids didn't drink. The soup with noodles were cold, the sweets and chocolate bar were from multipacks from lidl. Quarter of a ham sandwich and quarter of a jam one, a hot dog and then a crushed up Oreo biscuit served in a takeaway box. Last year it was served beautifully on a slate. I ordered the chilli garlic burger and chips but the chips were greasy and the burger was dry and really small. Such a shame as last year was a huge hit. The girl who served us was really lovely hence the 2* we unfortunately won't be returning for the Christmas one as we think it's going to be similar. I mentioned on Facebook that it was not the same and my comment was deleted. Picture on the left is last year's, the right this year's.

Birthday meal for myself with family. Booked online, received email and text with confirmation. Seated straight away at the rear of the building, order taken quickly, drinks arrived. Quite a wait for food but kept updated by staff which made the wait not unpleasant. Two courses for 11.95 roast dinners which were lovely and plentiful. Veg on plates and extra cauliflower and broccoli cheese on separate serving dish. Yorkshire puddings were delicious and the smell drifting from the kitchen was too. Thank you for a lovely evening .

Came on Saturday for Halloween Afternoon lunch with the kids and we all enjoyed it. Very friendly staff and the food was lovely.. will defiantly be revisiting

The Halloween child and adult tea was a big let down there was nobody in apart from me and the child the food was a let down really disappointed as little one was looking forward to it

I did visit this place on a Sunday morning a few weeks ago for a breakfast as one of my regular haunts was closed. The food in honesty was ok but vastly overpriced at £11-50 for an english fry-up and a small pot of tea, the service was pleasant and acceptable. What a difference a day makes, I re-visited on a Saturday night after being invited to join some friends and have to say I was reluctant to enter due to the language and behaviour of several drinkers addorning the outside seating. My apprehension was proven right once inside, I ordered 2 small glasses of Cola which were dispenced on draught, the price...£5-90 yes five pounds ninty pence. The bar staff were quite crude and would be better placed serving mugs of stewed tea on a building site, there is no doubt the owner or management of this place is raking in an immence profit with an industrial farm bailer.It does appear to be a 'cafe/wine bar' by day but by night it is nothing more than a typical town centre drinkery. I am well aware that venue's have overheads and staff have to be paid but Artisan is 'taking the michael' and would be better re-named as RONNIE & REGGIE'S.

If you’re going to call yourself “Artisan” you need to do more than offer a couple of overpriced flavoured gins. This grubby little bar has a disappointing range of beers, three of which were unavailable on our visit, and the two that were, failed to deliver. The poor quality was down to either cellar management, dirty beer lines or greasy glasses. In reality, it was probably all three. Staff attitude was appalling. Swearing at each other in front of guests is never a good idea but this is probably learned behaviour from the management. Some people simply aren’t cut out for the hospitality trade.

Recently went to a family function here on a Sunday and the place is a shambles. It's a poor do when you run out of ice and when you aren't even putting pieces of fruit into drinks (such as gin and tonics etc) especially considering the prices of the drinks and furthermore the fact that it was a bank holiday -schoolboy stuff really. Another annoyance is that we had the place booked out up until 4pm, yet the manager still allowed members of the public in for drinks and even one table of people in for food, regardless of it being a private family function. None of this really surprises me as I've heard countless bad reports about this place. No doubt the manager will responding with one of his trademark bitter replies, showing everyone in the hospitality sector NOT to deal with customer complaints.

Few drinks with friends and family. Very overpriced drinks.eg. a gin with no fruit in sight in what looks like a glass I drank out of at school. The Landlord is both aggressive and quick to call people names. Avoid unless you want disappointing.

Beef Wellington is a seriously hard thing to cook. I’ve tried with not much success but Artisan have nailed it, a seriously good plate of food. It’s well worthy the £20 cost on its own but the jalapeño balls are also first rate. Starter, main and dessert for £20. Crikey, value doesn’t get much better than that. Cake. Fillet steak. Cheesy chilli dippers. Highly recommend.

Lovely venue, friendly staff and amazing food. All of our party really enjoyed the event. We were very well looked after during the planning process, on the evening, and the next morning when we came back for breakfast. We even got a discount 😀

We came across this place by chance, we were on our way to the kettle kitchen for some lunch but when we got there we were told there was no electricity so we left and saw artisan. The staff were very friendly and who I pressume is the owner was superb he was very chatty (in a nice way) and catered to all our needs, within 5 minutes of sitting down we had both hot and cold drinks. I had the fish and chips while my partner has the open steak sandwich, both were excellently presented and tasted even better. My personal favourite and the main reason I will be returning is the wide selection of tea. The only problem was the freezing cold bathroom.

Just done a review of The Old Chapel in Darwen but wanted to add that we came here to salvage what we could from a terrible experience. we got a fantastic friendly welcome and were served at our table with great quality drinks. Comfortable and warm, friendly staff, we didnt eat but the food being served looked very appealing. The menu is attractive and not overky expensive. we are looking forward to visiting and having a meal soon.

Went for Sunday lunch - wow !! 👌 amazing is all I can say ! Lovely place, warm and welcoming on a snowy Sunday. The food was absolutely delicious, high quality home cooked, gorgeous Yorkshire pudding, and perfectly cooked vegetables, the lamb was melt in the mouth ! My dessert of hot chocolate fudge cake with ice cream was to die for ! Can highly recommend, don't know how they do it for the money even got a free shot of mulled wine at the end, will certainly be back.

We happened to have a child free couple of hours and usually nip to wetherspoons as you know it's a quick in and out job with half decent food. However we had noticed Artisan on a Facebook thread somewhere and noticed how reasonably priced it was and decided to give it a try. So glad we did as the food was superb. My partner had 2 starters, jalapeño bites with chicken wings and I had fish and chips. Honestly the best fish and chips I have ever tasted and my fellas still talking about the jalapeño bites haha. The guy who served us, I presume is the owner, as went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed our visit. Which we did. Highly recommend this place. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The can't believe I didn't mention the cocktails.. Bang on!😁X

First time the last night had something to eat great value for money and some nice flavoured Gin.

Awesome starter and main. Went on a Wednesday night we were the only people there. At 20:40 when we finished our mains, asked if we could order dessert then got told chef went home with no warning. Still had over an hour til closing time

What a lovely friendly place. The manager greeted us at the door and found us a lovely booth suitable for 2 babies also. The food was beautiful served by 2 very friendly staff, Shannon & Bailey. Nothing was too much trouble.

Nice bar. Bit pricey but it was our last stop on a night out so only had a quick one but seemed a really nice place

We were recommended to go here by a stranger in the street and so glad we went. As soon as we walked through the door we were greeted by the manager who left his lunch to deal with us. We ordered 2 open sandwiches but the waitress said they'd run out of mushrooms for mine - this was not a problem and the manager said they would get some fresh mushrooms from the shop. I had the steak & mushroom and my husband had the prawn & smoked salmon - they both looked absolutely delicious with plenty of filing. We shared our sandwiches and they both tasted delicious with lovely thick cut chips. The waitress was very pleasant (wish I'd got her name to put on here - sorry). Would definitely go back and recommend that if you're in Darwen you need to go for a visit.

We visited Artisan on Wednesday night had lovely Cocktails and food , very good , value for money midweek good , chicken Kebab and Hallumi kebab delicious , Expresso Martinis very good , blue moon Wheat beer good ( husband)

Called in and was greeted straight away. Drinks and food ordered quickly. Ordered the bogof deal and cocktails and wasn’t disappointed. The food was absolutely delicious and very filling. We had virtually every cocktail on the menu and they were all delicious! Will absolutely be going again and can definitely recommend to anyone wanting a nice place, good food and chilled out place to eat, drink and be merry. Thanks to Jason the host and his dedicated staff. X

Came on Saturday night for food and live music , stayed all night , brilliant entertainment and atmosphere, not cheap but keeps the riffraff away .

Both the ladies toilets had the seats hanging off so went into the disabled one and it was like a dumping ground for stock. There was a bar jug in the sink.

Arrived at the bar to be told we didn't have reservation despite having an email reminding me of the reservation when we arrived told they were closing and that they had no reservations so I left

It's not fake review, last year I booked a table, had it confirmed for 7.30pm drinks and food, when we got there a very rude man shouted have you booked because were not doing food any more. When I said yes please he just shrugged his shoulders and told us we could only have drinks. Why confirm a booking then turn people away. You confirmed the booking at 7.30pm for food, why do this then if you stopped serving and why be so rude to us when we arrived. I couldn't leave a review earlier, but this is why you should look after your customers, there are many lovely restaurants in darwen who have my full support because they offer fantastic service unfortunately your buisness does not. Businesses that looked after their customers will stand a far better chance of survivng the pandemic and protecting the livelihoods of their employees, if your struggling now maybe its unfortunate that you turned away business when you had the chance. I'm sure I booked a table last year yes, there`s ten months that preceded November.

A friend and I had the burger for £4.95 offer, which I couldn’t fault really, big thick burger and tasted good. The chef is obviously doing a good job. What I did have an issue with was the front of house. I think it may have been the owner - was very polite and took our order quickly etc but he was sat for ages on his phone and laptop, whilst the bar area was really dirty. There were piles of dirty pots and glasses, which needed to be taken to the kitchen, milk left out and open on the bar and don’t get me started on the state of the coffee machine!! That milk wand should be wiped after EVERY steam. Any milk that is allowed to build up attracts flies which then lay eggs and maggots just love it up the end of there. After spending £3 on a particularly small like warm coffee too, I felt a little sick to my stomach. The front of house is what the customer sees - and if that’s in a state then what happens in the back!! It was a shame as it could be a good place to go in Darwen, as there aren’t many good lunch spots and the food is good. Attention to the front needed ASAP as I’d be reluctant to return after seeing that.

Sunday roast with family. Food very good quality, staff very attentive. Prices amazing (20% off when you book on line), so our bill was really cheap. What's not to like? I recommend the burgers, the Sunday roast and the sharing platter.

We booked for lunch today . It was our first visit and wanted to try the Friday Fish and chip special. It was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. The service we received was excellent. I would highly recommend and we will definitely return

Lockdown and 10pm bedtime doesn’t get any better than this platter!!!!!A full slab of taste x2!Yes, they look like the pictures!My favourite was the creamy mushrooms which, with tagliatelle would make a main course worthy of the best Italians. Add chicken for meat eaters (like me). Dip that bread in!!!Perfect batters, fantastic flavour combinations. Very creative, very well executed.The dips are excellent, very excellent.Take your time because there’s a lot of food there, well worth the money!Also, they have espresso martini and passion fruit martini ON TAP!!!!!! Yes!!! Smirnoff branded font pouring out PERFECT martinis! Litres of it! In seconds! You might want it “made fresh just for you” but this is perfect! Great range of gins, beers, wines etc...Disabled access is fine.

Disappointed!! Booked a table but arrived much earlier then planned, firstly I couldn't fault how the situation was managed, we quickly got seated, took a good 10 minutes for our order to be taken deu to table service only. After finishing, we requested a bill and paid for drinks and lite bites which then the staff claimed we had underpaid which after some time and request for receipts turned out to be incorrect, a young girl (which I cannot fault) noticed this and quickly rectified the bill. But the other staff was overall rude, argumentative and couldn't accept they wrongly billed us. The bar/restaurant tried to over charge us by nearly £20.

I absolutely love this place. Where else in Darwen can you find a beautiful bar with fantastic food and friendly hospitality. This is the place to be. I can see why customers return time and time again and so will I. Just one piece of advice ... make sure you book a table as it’s popular!!

It was such amazing experience when I visited artisan as I haven’t visited Darwen before, it definitely set a high standard. I felt the staff were so kind and the food was amazing I 100% recommended artisan especially on the Thursday to get in on the burger deal as it’s amazing thank you for my experience

Have given it 3 stars ,as the first time I went a couple of weeks ago , I couldn’t fault you, so I thought it would be a great place to go back to with visiting mates. I have to admit I was embarrassed that I had told them it was good. Very very slow service , drinks and meals all brought at different times , half hour wait between one drink and another that was ordered at the same time , same with food , child waiting for food long long after the adults were served. NO social distancing at all from the owner. I don’t personally believe in all the social distancing stuff but my friends were very uncomfortable because they want to follow the guidelines and it made me feel bad.

Arrived for Sunday lunch. The cleaner was still mopping the floor. The restaurant had a very strong smell of disinfectant, which was very off putting. Ordered Sunday lunch. No horseradish available for my roast beef?? No coffee Available after our lunch as was told machine was out of order? Although we had a two hour slot. We felt very rushed to leave premises. We was extremely disappointed to be honest.

I have visited Artisan many times,but this time there was 2 new ladies I had not seen before. We had a booking and arrived we were shown our table an elderly lady and I. The young waitress came to take the drinks order I asked for a coffee and was told the machine was broken and they could not do hot drinks so I declined any other drink, the waitress walked away not giving my companion chance to order a drink. I then asked the same waitress if there was anything she could do because it was very cold ,I was sat with my back to the kitchen door which was open and they obviously had the back door open as well. The waitress stated she would get the Aircon turned down but this was not the problem it was the door.The waitress then eventually came to ask my companion if she wanted a drink which she ordered and again I asked if they could shut the door,beach time I asked something it was reported to the manager. The waitress then took our food order and I said I would be happy to stay and eat if they could PLEASE shut the door or they could have moved us. The manager then approached us and stated that the waitress had said I had been Arsey!!! At this point the manager also gave me the temperature from behind the bar and said it was not cold, well that's not were I was sat sorry. I have never known the manager to be like this before and it takes a lot for me to walk out of a venue but I will not be insulted as I was today just because I was cold.

Booked a table for 9pm till 11pm. Advised at 8 30pm we were running slightly behind as we were at a restaurant. Arrived explained to be turned away by rude young female manager who apparently didn't give a toss!!Bar was virtually empty by the way. We didn't kick off we just went somewhere else.As a group of local business owners ourselves we were gobsmacked at her attitude. Made several complaints to the owner which were ignored and when he eventually got back he actually didn't give a toss so she wasn't lying when she said it. Will never go back and will never recommend!!! Rude Rude Rude

Okay food, booked a table for 4pm, was advised when we arrived that thsy would not be taking our food order just yet, has they had just come out if lunch time rush, and that staff was having something to eat first what a joke .

Not a great experience. Wouldn’t serve food unless we had already booked in advance, not sure why you’d turn away business, only takes a minute to take contact details for track and trace. The tables in bar area were also not clean, we managed to find the only one which looked vaguely clean. Would love to have an opinion on the food but they wouldn’t let us order. Shame.

We came for lunch and I can say that the Cajun steak salad was amazing the presentation was beautiful and it tasted fab. The sharing platter was immense and so tasty, thanks to Micheal and Pauline the wonderful chefs and Gregg the manager. 😀

Booked a table for 12.30. Arrived and ordered drinks, was advised that they would take food order when the kitchen had caught up. It wasn't very busy just 3 tables outside occupied and one couple inside. Meanwhile I visited the toilet. Apart from being unisex with urinals and a cubicle, the toilet cubicle was pretty disgusting, looked like urine on the walls and the smell wasn't good. For a cafe and during times when hygiene is very important this was enough to put me off. Also as we were sat outside we noticed the windows were filthy and the table we were sat at also dirty. Looked like the whole place needs a deep clean. After 20 minutes our order still hadn't been taken and after asking was told, in a not too friendly manner that I'd have to wait about 30 minutes. At this point we paid for drinks and left. Never to return. Maybe the food is great, I don't know, but cleanliness and service really bad.

The curried lamb chops dish was gorgeous and the service was impeccable, definitely recommend for a meal

When visiting I selected 3 items, the granola, the brioche with bacon/ cheese and the pancakes. (my partner had the vege breakfast. My experience was the granola seemed shop bought and soft, just wasnt right for me. The brioche bacon sandwich was pretty good to be fair but then also let down by the pancakes that again were underwhelming, hardly any syrup (that would run off the slate anyhow). My advice, either do everything well or drop the item if you cant keep the quality as per other menu items. We went with a discount and I'd be really picky about what I would order at full price.

The food was excellent (I had the pulled pork burger) and the service was top notch and 100% friendly from the moment we entered to the moment we left. However I do feel that they should remove the word "cafe" from the name of the place. With the music playing just that bit too loudly to be called ambient background music, and with Sky Sports just that bit too intrusive the place is a pub. A very nice, very pleasant pub and one that I would be happy to frequent if I were still a drinker, but nonetheless a pub; no amount of fancification or otherwise pretending it's something else is going to change the fact that it's a pub.

Experienced the 2 for £10 menu and for the price the food was brilliant. Friendly staff and great atmosphere.

I visited Artisan last night with a group of work colleagues, from the moment we walked in we were greeted with a smile. We had booked and had done a pre-order yet we weren't rushed to our table we were given chance to have a chat and a drink first. We all got our starters together and everyone said how delicious they were, between us we had samosas, mozzarella sticks which came with a yummy chill marmalade, soup or prawn cocktail, for our mains we had fish and chips, burger and chips, mac and cheese, all freshly made with amazing chunky hand cut chips which were soooo good, we finished with some fantastic puddings, cheese cake, pavlova, crumble and custard or chocolate fudge cake... there was a lot of mmmmming going on during the desserts as they were to die for, not one of us could fault them and all plates were scraped clean. All the staff were great, lots of fun and attentive without being in your face perfectly balanced. I can definitely I will be visiting again and I think my work pals will be too.

Went here for lunch with a friend. Good selection of food and beer but no alcohol free beer unfortunately. The food was good and the price was very reasonable. I recommend visiting this restaurant which is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Good atmosphere and tasteful decor

Been to Artisan on a number of occasions for breakfast and haven't had any complaints. With this in mind we decided to book our family christmas day with them. All 6 courses went well. The food and the service was good and there was no complaints. Jason and his team did themselves proud. Well done guys.
