Love this place. The music is so vibey, staff and bartenders are so kind. Drinks are too expensive either. Go to for a night out.

A cool relaxing atmosphere in daytime, a hive of activity in the evenings. A popular pub. Food was good and at very reasonable prices.

A wonderful off-beat pub with quite the eclectic decor. The staff were friendly and pleasant to chat with. There are a number of pool tables upstairs and a sizeable beer garden out the back. Not the roomiest place in the world but not too congested either. The Guinness was excellent as was the London Pride

It is a 17th-century, two-story red brick building with a raised base and a decorative line at the first floor. It has an old tile roof, a chimney on the left, and a leaning chimney on the right. The front has five windows with two panes and leaded frames, two windows with five panes, and a central double door with a flat canopy. The right wing has a small window in the attic, one window on the first floor, and three small windows with frosted glass on the ground floor."

You've got to love the Cobbett its a Farnham institution. Its not shiny its little and dark and the walls are covered in pictures. there is a pool table upstairs and a beer garden (no grass or play ground) its a good place to meet mates and have a pint or ten. I love their good value tasty food. I might not be in my twenties any more but its still a firm favourite.

The security guy Andrew accused me of carrying drugs for absolutely no reason. Came here for a good night and it was ruined as I got accused of holding drugs! Not happy

Full of character and regular music venue

Called in here on Friday afternoon 19 April prior to going over to The Beerex. We had arranged for my son and myself to meet up with several other friends/family about 16:30 to have a couple of drinks to relax. The couple of drinks ended up being 4 pints as we sat out in the beer garden and just enjoyed the atmosphere and buzz from what turned out to be quite a crowd. By 18:00 I would say that at least half the people left the beer garden to head to the Beerex. The William Cobbett is a really lovely traditional old pub and has a terrific atmosphere with impressive low beams and décor. The staff were very busy at the bar but were extremely professional, friendly and kept everyone happy. Certainly worth a visit.

A local favourite. The Cobbett is cosy, friendly, and fun with a great atmosphere inside and a spacious beer garden outside. Popular with students and local residents alike. The pool room upstairs is a great draw, with four tables and it's own juke box. Highly recommend.

Good grief where to start? The welcome here wasn’t very warm with security on the door who didn’t speak to or acknowledge us. The bar staff weren’t too busy at the time, but were very inefficient. We were stood at the bar for ages whilst the staff chatted to people at the bar ignoring customers. Worse still on a Saturday there was booming drum and bass music playing to the point you couldn’t hear yourself think, let alone have a conversation. The toilets were very poky too and the security guy was in the only men’s cubicle for ages. Quite a hostile feel to the place and not a pub if ever return too. Not a great pub at all

The Cobbett is the Cobbett. It's taken a hit from all the changes inflicted on us all over the last few decades....but if you walked in here in 1981 and again now you would see little change. I miss the juke box...and the Goths......still what it is!

A really good pub that keeps its beer well and oozes tons of character. Unfortunately, it also oozes urine in the toilets which are the most DISGUSTING of any pub in town… there are wee footprints exiting the gents… ironic as it’s opposite Farnham Bathroom Co. Please upgrade the toilets!!!

Loads of character. Great staff - really friendly & helpful. Good sized garden, with shelters if needed, surrounded by tall trees & very old buildings. Loved my time here today & want to revisit.

Lovely local pub, food was fantastic and the drinks selection is great. Normally the younger people behind the bar are lovely but this trip we had an older (not to offend him) gentleman and he was just fantastic. Patient with us whilst we decided what to drink. Very attentive and an all round delight. Some lovely beers on offer on top of your typical lagers. Food wise the chicken katsu curry fries are to die for. A meal in itself. I’m a fiend for some chicken wings and these were just great and huge. The menu gives the option of 3/5/7 so the price looks a bit pricey but once they came and you see that they are the whole wing and not 1 wing split into 2 you realise it’s actually more 6/10/14. Both the chicken burger and the beef burgers tasted fantastic. Really can’t go wrong eating at this pub.

Visited here just pre-christmas '21 (the "Dark days"). Beer was excellent, a good selection of seasonal and permanent ales, the lagers were the same. Staff were busy but polite, efficient and attentative enough that there were no undue delays. Food was excellent, the creation of "pigs-in-blankets loaded fries" was a stroke of inspiration, superb sublime and very moreish. Cannot fault the pub, it's always welcoming and has a nice mix of people that make it feel friendly and comforting to be here. the dog friendly nature means we can all enjoy it too. Even though the students love it here, it's not at all exclusive, it just feels like a "proper" pub. Top marks, I will be coming here for many more years, I suspect.

Great pub with good vibes, large beer garden and smoking area that is very busy on weekends. Mostly younger people. Toilets are a bit grim but that's like what normal pubs that haven't been gentrified into gastro rubbish are like so fine with me. Inside is cosy but not big so you may struggle for a table on weekend evenings, especially in winter. Prices are on the cheaper side for Farnham, I think an Amstel is £4.50ish. Car park is small but staff are happy for you to leave your car overnight, there is some more parking just down the road which is free but often occupied. There is sometimes food which simple and has a small menu but not sure which days food is available. Best pub in Farnham unless you want a quieter experience.

Just a great place for after uni relax or after work and chill, and great food and atmosphere. The lovely staff as well make it all that good. Great pool tables too.

Until very recently this was a great pub, one of the best in the area. Not now. Since re-opening they have stopped accepting cash, do not allow bar service and demand that purchases are via a smartphone app whilst seated at a table. Crazed bouncers waddle around shouting loudly at customers who have the temerity to walk up to the bar to ask for a beer. There was always a great mix of customers of all ages. It seems now that anybody over the age of 25 who can't be bothered with the pub's customer-hating service has gone elsewhere. This pub is actively discouraging customers from spending money. I know of no other pub in Farnham that not only does not want your money but goes to extraordinarily lengths to stop you spending your money! If you ask politely if you can use a card rather than an app then the surly bar staff whinge and moan then pretend they are doing you a favour by taking your money (if you are lucky!). The pub always had a great crew working the bar. The current crop of bar staff are slow, rude, obnoxious, surly and power crazy. I've witnessed them taking offence to the most innocuous and innocent things and demanding to the security staff to eject customers who are just having fun. Tip: if you don't like working with customers, and don't like working with customers enjoying themselves, don't work in a pub. People don't want to come in to a pub at the end of a days' work and be excoriated by stroppy bar staff. The management need to take a good long hard look at the current direction the business is going, it's going downhill fast. Oh, have I said how poor the bar staff are?

I visited the Cobbett for the first time in 30 years a few months before the Pandemic hit. Pleased to say that it was just as I remember it, with an eclectic friendly crowd and great atmosphere as always. The best pub in Farnham by a country mile.

I really liked this pub. Unusually, for me, they did not take cash, only cards, although there was no problem. Hot Snacks were available and beers were Of good quantity, quality and a good choice.

It's ok, went here with a group of friends a while ago, quite big, with pool table, etc., & lots of seating in back yard, was quite a noisy night when went, not quiet, depends on what you're looking for of course!

Is it company policy to tell your customers to 'F**K off and drink elsewhere' because your ordering app didn't work and for some reason you wouldn't allow us to pay using contactless payment??? You cant claim a 'zero contact ' service when you have to pour and deliver the drinks in person by hand.... that in itself is 'contact' .I understand your a long standing family run public house... if that is the standard and level of service you work to then we all screwed... utterly disgusting way to speak to you customers.

Like Arsenal FC, struggling in 2021. Dont get me wrong have always loved the care free attitude but my experience was limited. The online ordering didn't work and I had to put my order through 7 times. Never actually got it though.

Great youth pub for socializing and meeting new people, NOT A FAMILY PUB, food would not recommended, but to have a good time a game of pool, a drink or too meet new people, is possibly is the best pub in Farnham.

It's a really nice place to share some drinks and food. I liked the part in the outside with lots of tables and good atmosphere. I also enjoyed the house burger I asked for dinner.

After been turned away from the Mullberry (plenty of space but still turned us away) and the Lamb pubs, we found the William Corbett and what a great pub it is. We we part of a hiking group and the staff were so polite and courteous. It had been a hot day and they could see that we were thirsty and brought jugs of cold iced water for us. A lovely touch of customer service. Drinks were easy to order and brought to us promptly. Will visit again. Thank you.

Been visiting this pub for nearly 20 years. The music is always amazing, the bar staff are always great. Have a good selection of beers and ciders and has a great mix of people that visit. In the winter months its very cosey and in the summer the beer garden is the best. Never Change!

Lovely independent pub. There's always great beers on tap. On my visit they had Dark Star crème brulle which was amazing. Keep an eye out for the pet spider.

Visiting family in farnham and therefore we made our usual visit to the cobbet. Continues to be the most friendly and enjoyable establishment I have ever visited. This is what a great British pub should be like, great beer food and friendly staff. Thanks as always

Visited for a drink early evening on Saturday 9th of November. My husband asked a young male member of staff for two pints of Stonehenge. The member of staff very rudely turned to my husband as said “Ps&Qs go a long way here “ in a very unfriendly manner. which is so rude of him!! My husband would of course if said thanks etc. Used to come here lots in the 90’s. Won’t be returning.

I lived 4 years in Farnham for university and the cobbett is always where we would go for drinks and a good time. It's got an amazing atmosphere and the barstaff is always lovely - I would definitely reccomend it! They occasionally have events on that are a bunch of fun, and are worth checking out ! All in all 5/5

Came back after a year away with old university friends. Still as characteristic as ever. Farnham might be changing, but The William Cobbett will always be the same.

Been here a number of times now and love it!! The staff are friendly and fun... who doesn’t love to watch their server have a dance while pouring your drink!! Feel safe knowing they have door staff at weekends although, to be honest, I’ve never actually witnessed any trouble and I was here over Christmas and on NYE! Lovely big space out the back too if you smoke or just want to hang out with your friends. Car park is a bonus! Music is varied so something for everyone. Love the fact that most of the staff are student age, as are a lot of the customers but don’t let that put you off... I’m 46 and have never felt like I’m too old to be in there! Great drink choices, even for me... I can enjoy a zero alcohol beer and not feel left out. Thanks guys, keep up the good work!

One of the nicest pubs I’ve ever visited, as I’m not from the area I felt really welcome and the staff were excellent. Food is great, drinks are served quickly by staff that are really easy to talk to. Facilities are clean, interior is really funky and unique. Would recommend to anyone!

The bar staff are young students mainly rude an arrogant who think they are doing the customer a favour serving them. The pub itself is dirty and not clean, will certainly not be returning along with my other friends, better places to go.

My step mother recommended the pub to me as she considered it 'the' place to go back when she was a student in Farnham around the 1980s and The Cobbett certainly didnt disappoint! It was my friends 20th and the atmosphere and staff were beyond amazing, the garden outside was lovely too and there was wide variety of drinks on offer, think we had a cookie monster themed shot recommended by the barman?! When I'm next back in Farnham I'll be heading straight to the Cobbett!!

As you head out of Farnham on the Frensham Road you’ll see the pub directly ahead as you cross the river. To be honest the exterior doesn’t look attractive and inside it’s somewhat dark, not helped by the eclectic and dated decor. Popped in for a couple of beers on a Sunday afternoon and there was a decent choice of ale on tap with prices reasonable so that’s a plus! There’s a car park, beer garden and dogs are welcome.
