I love the Wild Goose Bakery in Leytonstone. Great sandwiches, savory bakes, cakes and coffee. Also the best bread in the area, friendly staff and great notice board to keep up with what’s going on locally. I love to support small local businesses who care about community.

I’ve deleted my old negative review and rewriting my experience today16/09/22. Thought I would try again and pop over to this bakery and wow what a difference. The staff that served me was so nice friendly and polite and all the other staff in the background was so nice with lovely smiles. Also few years ago I use to buy the red velvet cake but stopped buying as it didn’t taste the same. Maybe the baker change not sure but today thought I would give another go and wow was so delicious 😋. Will be coming back regular again. Babs makes delicious mocha and very friendly. Thank you Babs

I've just moved near Wild Goose. Delicious food, but really disappointed to see they use only disposable cups, plates, and cutlery - even for those eating in. In the current climate emergency, this feels deeply inappropriate to be creating so much waste. So for this reason my family will not be visiting again unless they endeavour to buy a dishwasher and reuse like everyone else.

An independent alternative to Gail's that grabs broadly the same crowd of self-satisfied 35-45-year olds, who've made recent transition from Air BnB-ing and 'catching up' in E17, with other bang fringed, bearded, activist chums... to bring parents in E11, and who like to grab an expensive pastry in the morning whilst walking their newly purchased whippet. The cakes and pastries on offer are superb, the coffee is top notch and the staff are really friendly. Value just as poor as Gail's but then again that keeps away the riffraff and lures in more impressionable 'Moved From West Londoners' in. Have outdoor seating on the pavement which is comically bad. Unless you like inhaling diesel bus fumes, avoiding OnlyFans joggers and sitting on pavent cakes in urine, dog shht and chicken bones, then eat in.

Popped into this cute bakery spontaneously whilst in the area with my little girl. The girls serving are very welcoming and friendly. I had a really nice chai and a coconut and chocolate slice which was delicious - good quality ingredients! The seating area has a fairly relaxed vibe to it, there are quite a lot of eco and ethical products to purchase like food items but also gifts, card etc. Could do with a little more thought going into the table layouts and decor maybe to make it feel just a little bit cosier but overall it's a lovely place. My daughter enjoyed playing with the role play kitchen.

(Review for Forest Gate Branch) Living in a dingy ungentrified bit of East London, I was so delighted to come across this bakery in the Forest Gate arches a few months ago. It is so welcoming and lovely - outside seating in the sun - the best oat latte - HUGE range of cakes including several vegan options. I had a vegan strawberry tart which tasted like a proper french fruit tart, and bought a loaf of wholemeal sourdough to take away. Locals gather here, including some delightful dogs, and the owner's kids playing outside are delightful and give you an extra welcome too! My favourite spot in East London now, thank you.

I am usually quite cynical of tehe term artisan bakery, as in my experience it tends to be an excuse for overcharging for products can usually buy at a local supermarket. I was pleasantly surprised by the bakery. The staff are helpful and prices are reasonable. The Mangement have gone to a lot of trouble to spruce up the yard with flowers and tea and cake was very nice. I did find it a nice treat, but I doubt if I could afford to regularly shop there, as the prices, while reasonable, are little high for someone on a fixed income.

This is my local place and I go there often for some vegan cake of which they have plenty to pick from. The apple and date is my favourite but sometimes I will opt for a delicious red velvet or a chocolate beet cupcake. The coffee, unfortunately, is not up to standard, it is too watery and even though they have a good espresso machine, no one seems to know how to use it. I gave up on ordering coffee there a long time ago. The atmosphere is nice though with a raw design, free wifi and a little play area for children. The staff are always friendly but do not appear to know much about the product, perhaps due to the high turnover of staff. Senior staff makes for the best staff.

We have visited Wild Goose bakery several times before - this was our first visit since the re-fit. We were disappointed that much of the attraction of the place (it's quirkiness) has been sacrificed in order to squeeze in a few more seats. There was no drinks menu on display, and we had to ask for food menus. We both had toasties, which were just pre-made sandwiches put on the grill. The "personal touch" seems to have gone - you know, offering to make you whatever you want. We both felt we could have been in one of the dreary chain coffee shops. The food and drinks we had were very nice but, as I say, we could have been in C****'s or Star****s. No personal service, nothing special to recommend it. Sad.

The Wild Goose has become in no time at all the Leytonstone benchmark for breads and all things sweet. A benchmark that many try to emulate, Very few with any success. First, the breads. Absolutely fabulous. The kind of breads you could eat all day long until your pants no longer fit. Perfect with everything but especially good with cold meats, terrines, cheese etc. Then, the pastries. No idea what goes on in Vern's kitchen but the cakes never look less than spectacular and taste just gorgeous. Even the innocent looking ones like the white chocolate cakes are mind blowing. Whether you just grab a coffee and a little something sweet on the go or sit down for a leasurely breakfast, brunch, lunch or a snack, your taste buds will be amazed and your heart will beat a tad faster. Then last but certainly not least, there is the fact that Kirstin and Vern who founded the WG also make sure that their enterprise benefits the local community by sponsoring events, donating to the local food bank etc. This little business has a big heart and it is hard not to fall in love with the Wild Goose!

Tried different goodies (always sweet ones) and all have been superb. Not once have I thought I was eating anything remotely stale and it is obvious everything is freshly baked. I spotted the carrot cake yesterday but resisted it in favour of a blondie (so good!) but today was surprised there was actually a slice or two left so I succumbed. This cafe has such potential and I frequent it often because it's the only cafe of it's type in Leytonstone. I really don't want to give it a bad review but I think it could easily be so much better. Let's start with the positive! There are always gluten free cakes. There's a huge selection of drinks and they play great music. Most of the staff are really pleasant and the local artwork is fun. However, I wish they'd do a few things to make it more welcoming... Firstly, the mental chairs are really hard and cold. Maybe they could get some cushions? Close the door! The cafe is on a busy smelly and polluted road and people smoke outside the door. When the smoke and pollution blow in it's very unpleasant, not to mention the annoying drone of traffic when you're trying to have a conversation. Lastly, there is one girl who never, ever smiles. She stomps back and forth between the store room and the counter, usually scowling and chewing gum. I get it's supposed to be hip and relaxed but please, a smile at least goes a long way to making someone feel welcome. Oh and do staff really have to go into the store room every two minutes?

I live in Leytonstone and was delighted when The Wild Goose Bakery first opened. I love their bread and have bought it regularly. I had never had a coffee there but was sure it would be excellent having seen the quality of the baking and the careful instructions left for the baristas on grind etc. I visited with a friend who has her own cafe in south London, and who takes tender care in ordering coffee beans from independent roasteries, as well as how these are ground, prepared and served. I wanted us both to be delighted, and was proud to 'show off' positive changes in my area. Sadly both cappuccinos were so bitter as to be undrinkable - I think this means that the grind has been too fine. I have noticed already that staff are often struggling when the café is busy with long waits, and I haven't seen the owner around in a while. Service was haphazard as was the arrangement of seating at the rear which is trying way too hard with a mismatch of industrial and shabby chic and does not flow or maximise the small area. Not relaxing at all and no calm cohesion in management or presentation. We would have had brunch but just wanted to leave as soon as possible.

A wonderful bakery that I highly recommend and will be returning. It's a real treasure in a neighborhood rather void of these much needed cafes/bakeries. I was searching for something delicious to celebrate a colleague's birthday and was faced with the styrofoam 'cakes' in boxes at Tesco ...my heart sank until I found this lovely bakery. Tried the brownies which were excellent, moist and rich, the dark choc swirl bun and other delights which were a big hit and outshone Konditor & Cook. I spoke with the baker (owner?) and his professionalism and service was exemplary. I noticed the pricing was very competitive, for the items I purchased it was very reasonable and you can taste the quality of the ingredients.

This review does not rate the food because due to very poor customer service, we felt like we had to leave before we could order. I had always wanted to eat at the Wild Goose Bakery as it looks like a lovely, trendy cafe. Having finally decided to go, I could not have been any more disappointed with the level of customer service. While the place itself is cosy, the inside was chaotic. Members of staff were rushing around, tables were left uncleaned and we were taken no notice of for about 15 mins (until we decided to leave). Having found the menus after looking around for 5 minutes, we managed to find ourselves a table (with dirty plates from previous customers). My boyfriend wanted a full English and having spotted it on a small specialty board, asked a staff member whether they serve it, only to be rudely told, "no, we're not a greasy spoon". The snobby attitude put us off the Wild Goose Bakery and I would not recommend it to anyone. There are numerous other similar places out there that actually care about their customers.

I went to the Wild Goose for breakfast with my bestfriend last month and I really loved the place! Cosy, vintage-looking place with a few tables and a sofa. The cookies and muffin were amazing, as well as the cappuccino. The staff at the bar was friendly and helpful and the service was quite fast. We had a relaxing time and we'll definitely come back.

The bread is the best in the local area. The cake and coffee are really tasty. The service is usually excellent but the the bakery gets really busy in a Saturday lunch. Highly recommended.

Friendly staff, clean and good value for money. We went for breakfast and had a Set 2 which came with 2 slices of toast and either a tea or coffee. Decent size of breakfast, which came out quickly. H

An outstanding Jewish bakery (and yes I am biased and every Jew has their favourite bakery and no, they didn't bribe me with bagels [note the spelling] to say that.)
