The Wick Fryer in Arun

We had fantastic fish for our dinner tonight from the Wick Fryer, thanks so much. Succulent and freshly cooked. The best fish and chips.

Great fish and chips with very nice staff. A really nice local chippy. Interior is serviceable but it’s only a waiting room so decor doesn’t really matter.

I'm not sure why I haven't reviewed this place before. This is our local chippy and we love it. We've tried most things on the menu now and pleased with it all. Very big portions and we find a medium portion of chips is plenty for 2 people if you are having them with fish or sausage etc. It can get.busy at times but never kept waiting too long. Great food, great service!

We ordered 2 Huss and large chips. I could not believe it . The Huss was in a long cod shape instead of a chunk and it was like gristle.. I couldn’t even cut through it. It was really greasy and the chips were over cooked. Very disappointed.

I visit Wick Fryer almost every Friday to buy my plaice and chips, and the plaice is always very big and a small portion of chips suffices for two people, I find. Never had a bad meal or device from there. I usually call up 5 to 10 minutes before I am due to pop in and my fish and chips are usually ready when I get there.

Went for chips. Good size portion but absolutely unedible. Dreadful potatoes, black, manky, seemed as if the potatoes they used were rotten. What a waste of £2.50. Not the first time they have been like this. Avoid this shop like the plague

we but fish and chips and curry sauce every week from the wick fryer and they never fail to be always be easy always be good quality. Crispy batter, well cooked chips - equals great value for money

10hrs into a 12hr ambulance shift, a long way from home. We stopped to get some well earnt food. After my card payment was "declined" my colleague paid for my order. I checked my online account which stated it was "pending" but they asked for my friend to pay again as it had failed!. Later I checked and the payment had gone through. I called them, they agreed that we had paid twice, however the only way they would refund me was if I were to go back there in person. Again, I was a long long way from home! They offered no other solution. Looks like they were quite happy to charge an NHS employee double for their meal!

Our plumber recommended this chip shop and the food is utterly delicious ! Parking nearby and Covid safety regs in place Absolutely recommend

Our usual chippy has closed due to the covid pandemic and we hadn't had fish and chips yet this year. My fiance went in search as I was feeling under the weather and WOW he struck gold. The chips were the best chip shop chips I have ever ever had. The cod was beautiful and flavorful. It really perked me up will deffo be coming back here again. Want to try some other bits from this menu. Probably Huss. Though my mother had recommended their burgers to me when I mentioned we'd been here.

Saturday night what best but fish and chips. Never tried this place before as we have only just moved, what a gem. Staff good prices reasonable. Yes will be back. Thank you

My son moved in near the Fryer and we needed some food to keep us going.It should have been an occasional thing but found we keep going back.Please show mercy and cut down the amount of chips you give us and the golden crispy batter.For someone whose closest chippy was that appalling one (*oves) in Brighton road Horley, it's restored our faith in the chippy.

The food in this place is really nice but the customer service is appallingl the boy that works in there doesn’t even say hello he never smiles it’s diwnbright rude and the lady serving you isn’t much better! We are considering not going there anymore as it really annoys me that they treat there customers in this way instead of being grateful for your custom.

A regular visit on my way home when I can’t be bothered to cook. Fish is nicely cooked and chips tasty

We have recently moved to the area and this is our local chip ship .The prices are really good and the portion size is fantastic in fact it’s one the best I’ve tasted in a long time .The only negatives is the service it doesn’t come across as warm and friendly no one greats you when you walk in they just stand there waiting for you to say something .When you place the order there is very little acknowledgement just a click of the mouse on the computer however I will say that the order is confirmed back at the end but it just seems a bit bizarre there is zero conversation.The young lad that works there seems miserable as anything no conversation just a very blank look doesn’t even say hello and when he does talk you can hardly hear him ,this lad will struggle in shop work in the future if he isn’t pulled up on this and shown the right way , the problem is I’m not sure who will teach him as they all seem to behave in the same way . I will finally point out this has been my 5th visit and it seems the same each time its a shame as it’s such a basic thing to get wrong .

Nice clean establishment, with good efficient service if not the best general communicators. Good choice of menu and reasonably priced for South Coast. Fish and chips not the best but not bad, excellent portion size though except the mushy peas that came in a sample tub not a good portion size I’m afraid. Please put the fish and chips in a cardboard box not grease proof paper as it spoils them on the way home. Even if you have to charge

Have tried pretty much everywhere in Littlehampton over the years and finally tried out the Wick Fryer. Was really impressed with the price, notably cheaper than anywhere else, and the quality of everything we ordered was spot on. Will be returning soon

I always use this chip shop as the portions are good for the price you pay and the food is always warm and tasty.Friendly staff and quick service even when it's packed in there. The chips could do with extra vinegar as they sometimes taste as if they haven't got anything on them.The battered Mars bars are to die for! Defiantly worth trying.Thankyou for always serving us great food.

Been going to this chippy for years, never had a bad take away, always good value for your money. Really good size portions and always tasty.

Promedio fish and chips, la comida siempre caliente y fresco, el personal lo suficientemente amable, pero personalmente no me gusta el sabor de las patatas fritas. . . Todo parece cocinado juntos y no como pescado, salchichas, croquetas y patatas fritas tienen un sabor extraño, a los niños les encanta, y que siempre está lleno, así que deben estar haciendo algo bien. ! !

The worst chip shop in England disgusting chips that tasted like grease and texture of cardboard had a fish cake that came straight out the other end within minutes never will set foot in this place again complaned to them just went over his head

We have Fish n Chips regularly here and its always top quality - the chip portions are HUGE - be warned!

Traditional chippy, varied menu, cooked fresh on demand, reasonably priced, welcoming & polite staff...good, all round expectations Tasted great, crisp chips and delighted with first time order/eating their food

Lovely chips and not too greasy. Great prices and friendly staff. Myself a friend and our two children enjoyed it and the portion sizes were great :)

Always get my f 'n' c from here, never had a bad meal yet. Generous portions and always good quality.

Picked up many a meal from here when late home from work. Proper old style chip shop with the normal menu which is good value staff always appear to be friendly

was on holiday in Littlehampton and as always get fish and chips when we arrive on the Saturday and as this was near to our caravan park thought we would try them they were terrible 2 small soggy fish 1 small chips , couldn't eat them chucked them in bin if you want good tasty ones go to Arundel...

Plenty to pick from. Order was quick. Nice big pieces of cod. Nice crispy batter. Chips were small. Left a greasy taste for awhile.

I was in need of a quick meal after a late finish at work.It has been a little while since I last paid The Wick Fryer a visit. I ordered a medium sized Cod with a small portion of chips. The fish was cooked to order which is always a good sign. The batter was crisp and not greasy and a small portion of chips is adequate for me.If I had one complaint, it would be the impersonal service from the young lady who was operating the till. Just a polite thank you and acknowledgement of the customer is all that is required.

I normally use MIcks on sea lane but took Sunlovers advice and went to try it, I have to say I wasn't impressed at all, the fish was ok but we didnt enjoy the chips at all! mix up with my order meant I had to wait for 20 mins despite me phoning my order well in advance!As always 1st impressions count and we wont go back.

We have been going to the Wick Fryer on & off for years. In the past we mainly had really good chips & often cod was just ok, or vice versa. We do come from Rustington where there are at least 2 chip shops, plus many others in Littlehampton which we have tried. The last 3 times we have been to the Wick Fryer, we have had the best cod & chips we have ever had. Think it must have changed hands as it is very well organised when ordering now.Ask for the fish to be separate from the chips when wrapping, which stops the fish getting soggy.My only niggle is that they can't give you the crispy little bits off the fish anymore, health & safety ridiculous nonsense! Curry sauce yummy, very hot!

This has got to be the best Fish and Chips in town far exceeding another that say they have the best. Its always cooked fresh and at a very competitive price. Do not pass by without trying
