An excellent and nourishing home made soup, generous portion included a large chunk of nice rustic bread and butter, had set me up on several visits here. Also, real local Miles loose leaf tea sourced from the Miles Tea distribution centre across the road, worth a visit. My fold up walker was easily accommodated, and I noticed it was a dog friendly place. Been here a number of times and the quality and friendly service make me want to return. Thank you for not playing 'demolition music' but instead a calm and muted background of Classic FM Radio.

What an amazing place!! We were told about this whilst staying in Porlock for the week, and managed to visit twice. On both occasions we had the best food. The sandwiches were so fresh and the scones were beautiful, especially with the newly-discovered Whortleberry jam 😋. The home-made cakes were fantastic, and I can’t even begin to describe the Apple and Whortleberry cake served with clotted cream!! The tea room is small and obviously very popular, I’m just glad we don’t live locally as we would probably weigh about a stone heavier! A gem of a place and we look forward to visiting again next year.

Stumbled across this FABULOUS traditional Tea Room on way home. Proper pot of tea for one and great Miles Americano for the other one! The scones are perfecto! Brought pot of Whortleberry Jam home, should have brought 2. Yet to try the Lemon & Ginger marmalade. The soup on next door table made me regret we'd already had lunch and the afternoon tea spread on another table made me wish we hadn't got a dinner booked later. The service is impeccable, cleanliness superb, decor delightful.Their history is printed on menu and makes interesting reading. Thank you for being there!

Parked in Doverhay car park and walked all the way up the high street, and thank goodness we did, as at the end of the high street is Whortleberry Tearoom. This was our first visit but we will definitely be visiting again as soon as we can.

I chose the Whortleberry Tea Room to hold a small gathering to celebrate my 60th birthday with my immediate family. I hadn't been to the Whortleberry before but we live locally and I knew its excellent reputation. We were a party of 8 people and we went for afternoon cream teas. Helen and Shaun were very welcoming, and they had arranged a long table to seat us all. Our orders were all different and quite complicated, but they got everything right and our drinks and scones arrived quickly. I am gluten intolerant but I was able to order a GF scone with strawberry jam and clotted cream, which was absolutely delicious. There was a choice of fruit or plain GF scones (and non-GF ones, of course), and a wide choice of leaf teas too. Tea was served in china pots with dainty cups and saucers, a proper English tea. Everyone remarked on how nice the food was, and we all enjoyed ourselves. At the end, Helen brought out a piece of GF whortleberry and apple cake with a candle on top and I received a chorus of 'Happy Birthday'. What a lovely way to celebrate with my family! By the way, my daughter had missed lunch so she ordered a BLT sandwich, which she said was 'really really good!', so we'll be going back again soon, for lunch this time. Parking is limited on the road near the Whortleberry, but there is parking further up the road at the village hall, opposite the Top Ship pub (donation in a box). Take care walking down from there, though, as there's not much in the way of pavement.

Just wanted to say that I had tea and cake here today with my friend. The owners were so lovely and I find the comments left by the previous people to be offensive and unnecessary Why do people think they have the right to be so horrible on trip advisor. Why not discuss with the owners at the time instead of writing a review that the owners could do nothing about after the event

Together with my husband and 2 teenage kids, we arrived here at the end of a 10- mile stretch of the coast path. We could see cakes in the window and only one table taken by customers. I spotted that closing time was 4.30 but this was at 3.58. I opened the door and asked if we could come in for cake and was told “We’re closed.” Well what a shame. If this had been my business I would have at least offered coffees and cakes to go. Shame on you. We promptly crossed over the road and got some much- needed refreshments at the shop, which we enjoyed in the churchyard whilst waiting for the bus. I find this attitude to be quite typical in the Westcountry, where businesses often think they don’t need to go the extra mile being in a beauty spot and having a captive audience. I’ll be sure never to visit your premises again!!

Very rude service. No food available at 3.30 on a Saturday. Young girl serving got mixed up with our order, said we were wrong when it was actually her. Then announced ‘they said it was wrong. I was right then’ in front of the whole cafe. Made us feel very uncomfortable. We were then brought the bill while only half way through our tea. Then we were told ‘just a reminder we’re closing in a minute.’ Still only half way through our tea. Then the man hovered next to our table until we left. We were there 25 minutes altogether. The most unwelcoming atmosphere and such rude staff. A real shame.

Had a delicious afternoon tea, one sunny afternoon in the courtyard, which is quite sheltered from the wind. The more expensive package had a selection of teas, a good choice of sandwiches, a very light and fluffy scone each with cream and a choice of jams (go for the whortleberry), and a slice of cake each. My wife went for the coffee and walnut (I can confirm it was good!) and I went for the lemon and orange drizzle cake - also very good. After a gruelling 3 hour drive we arrived on a Saturday morning at 8.58am looking forward to a Full English breakfast and joined a short queue standing in torrential rain. Proprietor opens the door, allows the first 3 in (apparently they were part of a larger party due for breakfast), turns to us and says "We don't open until 9am" and shuts the door in our faces. The afternoon cream tea is wonderful and very reasonably priced. Although the whortleberry jam is a little too sweet for my taste, it is preferable to strawberry jam. The owners were friendly and welcoming, and the space is bright and cosy - filled with tempting cakes and homemade jams. Three of us had the cream tea, and one of us had the savoury scone followed by a delicious looking carrot cake (which I understand tasted as good as it looked). The scones were fresh and warm, the clotted cream was generous, and please do go for their speciality - the locally made whortleberry jam - it is truly lovely and unique. The jams are also available to purchase - a lovely reminder of the place. It is also dog friendly. Thank you - we'll be back again!

Staying on the near by caravan park and didn’t fancy cooking.....wandered up into the village and found this gem. Well cooked breakfast made with good ingredients, lovely pot of tea and friendly service. Great value for money.

Quite simply one of the most simple, beautiful tea rooms we have been in. Genuinely like sitting in your Nans front room with some cake and a cuppa.

Wonderful old fashioned tearoom. Enjoyed a delicious cream tea in clean, friendly surroundings. Will be back next time we are in the area. We wish the new owners every success.

This is a very good tea room/cafe at the western end of the main street. The new owners are really trying very hard to make it a success. The welcome is very friendy and the food on offer is very good - (there is a good selection of cakes). It is quite traditional, (like most places in Porlock) with the emphasis on good service and good quality.

A quaint traditional tea house/cafe in Porlock. We dropped in at 4pm on a Sunday afternoon to be greeted by new owner - Sean. Lovely selection of freshly baked cakes, loose leaf tea from the nearby Porlock blender- Miles, delicious scones & jams. Really lovely afternoon tea & cake, served in pretty crockery. Restaurant is clean, neat & traditionally decorated. You won’t be disappointed.

What a lovely couple running this place! The chocolate cake and flapjacks were to die for, the service superb and the lunches were fantastic ( Toastie, soup and cake). HIGHLY recommend this wonderful, old style, traditional coffee shop!

We called in for a snack but got tempted by the good value winter meal deal. Delicious home made burger, chicken pie and homemade crumble for dessert. So lovely to go out for a meal and be served homemade food. Excellent service and very friendly couple who are working so hard to make the tea room a well deserved success.

Amanda did all the catering for my birthday celebrations in Woolavington, Bridgwater, and she really did me proud. Amanda guided me towards an easily managed menu suitable for all ages ranging from 2 to 95 years. It worked perfectly. Friday night's hot meal on was followed the next day by a hot buffet (chicken provencal, cottage pie and dauphinoise potatoes), salads, a wonderful lemon meringue pie, huge chocolate cake, breads, sausage rolls, large quiche and much more. The really generous portions fed 20 adults and 6 children with left overs. The food was much-praised with the outstanding comment came from one young granddaughter who can be rather choosy. Having asked who made the cottage pie she declared it to be the best she had ever had - praise indeed. I would not hesitate to recommend Amanda and her catering. Thank you.

First time using bapmobile since it changed hands, absolutely fantastic service and the food was amazing. I called them up to place my order, I was told to make my way down in 10/15 minutes. When I arrived the food was pretty much ready. The lad that served me was very polite. The food was absolutely beautiful, I had the cheese and bacon burger with onions. Food was piping hot and was to die for. I for sure can definitely recommend bapmobile.I will 100% be using bapmobile in the very near future. We'll done mate keep doing what you are doing 👍

What a find!! Can not recommend this Tea Room highly enough. We’ve had lots of cream teas over the years, but Bramdowns is the best ever. The homemade scones were amazing. The service was first class and so friendly. The decor and the crockery are lovely, also with the music in the background you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. Thoroughly enjoyed it, so much more than just a cream tea. Long May you continue, Ladies. Next time we’re passing by Porlock, Bramdowns, is a definite stop off.

We stopped here for breakfast on the way to Lynmouth and what a breakfast it was. We had the small breakfast which consisted of egg, bacon, sausage, tomato and beans which were thoughtfully served in a ramekin dish rather than the sauce running wild all over the plate. Everything was yummy and cooked to perfection. It would have been a ....sin to leave without tasting one of the cakes in display at the counter and so we did and I believe it was a carrot cake which was delicious (soft, moist and tasty). The coffee was good too. The staff were very welcoming, the place was beautifully decorated and spotless and so were the toilets

Great cafe in the heart of Dulverton offering a good selection of food and cakes. Would recommend booking a table at peek times.
