What a great find. Although, easily overlooked. This is a wonderful classic tearoom cum coffee shop but modern and stylish. Its menu is restricted to savoury teas, cream teas and cakes. However, everything is homemade on site and bakes are prepared to perfection. We plumped for the savoury tea, the cheese and herb scone accompanied by a lovely cheddar cheese and tomato chutney. We followed this up with a classic cream tea of fruit scone, preserve, and clotted cream. This was washed down with earl grey tea. Suffice to say that everything was wonderfully prepared, perfectly presented, and tasted delicious. What about the service? I hear you ask. Olivia and her colleagues were fantastic hosts and looked after us on our several visits. A gem in heart of Dunster.

Family visit yesterday (4 of us), we sat at the large table by the window seat. Enjoyed excellent Victoria Sponge, light fluffy & oven fresh, the filling was fresh & delicious. Lovely (generous) pot of tea enjoyed in very nice surroundings. Worth mentioning how super clean this place is, the glass display case was immaculate & sparklingly clean, table wiped/polished to perfection, WC was exceptionally clean. The two friendly ladies running the Cafè clearly take great pride in the fine detail & that shows in the quality of the product & service they provide. Thank you for a memorable visit. My wife and I had a superb cream tea but with hot chocolate instead of tea. The scones, cream, jam and hot chocolate were all excellent. A special mention for the home-made jam, it was the best jam we've ever eaten, I'm sure we'll be reminiscing about it for years. Yes, I know, reminiscing about jam does sound a bit odd but only if you haven't tried the jam.

This is a wonderful coffee house / tea room. We had scones with jam and cream and hot chocolate to drink. The jam was home made and the best we've ever tasted, we hope they start producing it in quantity and selling it in jars. The scones, cream and hot chocolate was great too. Excellent, friendly service and good value for money.

Having visited Dunster Castle earlier & rather than pay National Trust prices for tea, etc, we went into this wonderful little place. The owner & her assistant were wonderful, very efficient & a delight to talk to. The owner even shared the recipe for the Almond & Orange cake with my wife, who, as an accomplished cake maker herself, was well impressed! Definitely recommend the Castle Coffe House to anyone visiting Dunster.

Ordered and paid £7.50 for what was advertised as a Plough man's lunch; what I actually received was a tiny bread roll, a small piece of cheese, a tiny glass bowl of pickle and a couple of packets of butter. No salad or ham; literally a tiny cheese roll for £7.50. Not a Plough man's lunch by any stretch of the imagination and false advertising. No wonder the place was empty; not recommended.

Dunster village is a pretty place with quaint and interesting buildings lining the main street and of course, the Yarn Market in the middle. At the end of the street near to the entrance to Dunster Castle up on the hill, is this delightful coffee house with lovely flower filled hanging baskets outside. The interior is bright and welcoming with large windows looking out onto the street. We ordered a slice each of the orange and almond cake (which was delicious) to go with our tea and enjoyed a pleasant relaxing time on a very hot day. We were a bit concerned that there was nobody else in the place but it was late in the afternoon and the lady advised us that the closing time was 5 pm so we had plenty of time to enjoy our refrestments!

Our only regret is that my husband and I didn't have the opportunity to visit Olivia's coffee house until the last day of our holiday! Unfortunately, by 4pm she had sold all of her daily-baked scones but we happily devoured a home baked tea cake and a chocolate & oat cookie with a pot of tea, which were delicious. Olivia not only bakes herself daily but attends her customers personally. She is very pleasant and hard working which is reflected in the friendly and efficient table service she provides. We ordered Somerset cream tea for 2 with a latte and earl grey tea.Girls were friendly and helpful. When the cream tea arrived my partner and I both looked at each other...in the west country the main part of a cream tea is in the title ...CREAM!!There was 2 scones each which were lovely but the cream came in the same size dish as the jam and that wasn't huge! There was just enough for 2 scones so we had to ask for more cream and this time the dish was half the size!.If the owner has a problem with cream portions then I think he needs to look at putting the price up a little. While we were there 10 people came in, sat on 2 tables 9/10 ordered cream teas and then all hell let loose...the staff couldn't work out how many scones they needed and realised they didnt have enough so someone set to bake some more, the girls couldn't work out the drinks ...it was all a bit chaotic. We paid our bill and to completely finish us off they overcharged us.They really do need to get sorted before the season starts properly...there are lots of tea rooms in Dunster and I'm sorry to say we wont be returning!!
