The Whole Hog in West Dorset

Outstanding independent coffee/doughnut/hog roast takeaway. Welcoming people (thanks Joey & Bailey!) who were friendly and happy to chat. Coffee was delicious (freshly brewed filter), and the hog roast roll was the best I’ve had - complete with crackling. Don’t get me started on the doughnuts.

As a regular consumer of their excellent if slightly spendy doughnuts, I opted for the hog roast roll. I received a weighty bundle that seemingly contained almost an entire meal. Gorgeous pork, plenty of crackling, apple sauce and the perfect accompaniment for a walk to Charton Bay.

The whole hog is the best! Whether it's for a morning coffee, a lunchtime bite or a cheeky doughnut, the standard is so good. The family run ethic is really nice and the crew are welcoming, upbeat and super helpful. Can't wait to be back for another hog box! 🙂

After a fun morning fossil hunting we grabbed a pork bap and doughnut each for lunch. We sat out overlooking the sea and enjoyed every bit! The baps were super tasty and the doughnuts the best we’d ever had. Well defo be back - was a highlight of our half term visit.

I'd seen this place on social media, flaunting trays of freshly made filled doughnuts, so needed to get over there to check them out. This weekend I planned on a 'long run' and was going to run east, but realised that I could run exactly half a marathon from Burton Bradstock to this place, along the south west coastal path, so I did. I expected my family to be waiting for me in Lyme when I arrived but they'd been delayed, so I grabbed a coffee and a blueberry jam doughnut without them (I had calories to replace!) I sat on the beach and enjoyed the doughnut with a coffee, also from the Whole Hog. Both were fantastic. The doughnut was exceptional. When my family arrived, we had brunch at Swim and I told them about the doughnut, so we stopped by again on the way back to the car and bought a box of three, the Lotus biscuit doughnut, the raspberry jam and the honeycomb topped one. When we got home, I put the kettle on and cracked open the box. My son had the Biscoff one and my partner and I shared the other two. A second doughnut in the space of two hours I hear you say? Didn't I tell you I had calories to replace!? The honeycomb was superb, light and tasty. The filling inside that doughnut was awesome. Would we go again? Everytime we're in Lyme, and that's a lot! I think I've found my new favourite coffee shop in Lyme. On a side note, I LOVE the boxes too.

Definitely the place to visit if you are around Lyme Regis, barista has an excellent skill to make a coffee. Flat white is my coffee to go. Also the hog roast was the best lunch to take away and enjoy it by the beach. Ow, and don’t forget to grab a doughnut, mouth watering. Well, I was so excited to visit here however was let down. My husband had the pork and said it was delicious and I had the chicken. I love pepper and put it on everything however it was too much for me and overpowered any other flavours. The chicken was also very dry and that hard to do with thighs. Disappointing. We wanted to try the homemade donuts however they had sold out.

Bayley is an awesome Barista. I was just back from a trip around the Greek Islands so had tasted some heavenly coffee - Bayleys coffee topped the lot!

Everything is incredible. Rolls, doughnuts, coffee, whatever. Really pleased to have the Whole Hog so local and never disappoints. Quality everytime and there’s a reason it’s #1 in Lyme.

Well worth a visit if you are in Lyme Regis. I grabbed a hog roast for me and hubby on the way back to our Airbnb and it stayed in one piece until we got back. It was moist and very tasty and the crackling was a nice added extra.

This shop added to our great Lyme Regis experience. The food here is top quality and the flavors are amazing. Especially the whole hog and the chocolate donuts. Everything here is handmade, fresh within the day as Olly and Baily explained. I highly recommend this to all who visit Lyme Regis. Keep up the good job!

We visited twice on a four day family holiday, once for donuts and then back for more donuts, coffee and the pork bap…the pork bap was absolutely delicious; my partner and I shared one but I could have easily eaten the whole thing, the home made apple sauce is something else and with the cracking and stuffing, it was just amazing! The donuts are equally as delicious, we pre ordered some to take home with us! The honey comb was a firm fave! Lovely coffee too - if you’re in Lyme Regis I would highly recommend visiting!

The Whole Hog is a great little take away for the best coffee in Lyme. Add a cheeky homemade doughnut - the best ever - or pulled pork bap. Then pop round the corner to sit and enjoy the fabulous view of Lyme Bay - Heaven !!

Yep it is confirmed… best doughnuts I have ever eaten ! I brought 3 different flavours: Biscoff, raspberry & blueberry. Properly homemade and filled in real fruit sauce . Lashings of sugar.

Amazing spot run by lovely mother and son duo who clearly care so much about what they are doing. Coffee is fantastic and the whole hog bap was exceptional. During our weekend in Lyme we’ve been spoilt for choice food-wise but this place is right up there. Went back several times.

Sundays in Lyme have turned into a ritual of Junior Parkrun followed by a trip to the Whole Hog for one of their artisan donuts. The coffee also gets rave reviews from locals and smells gorgeous.

Possibly the best donut I’ve ever eaten. Amazing coffee. We took it down to the beach to enjoy as a mid morning treat and it was the best. Thank you Whole Hog will definitely be back.

Doughnuts are my favourite things, and these are the best doughnuts I've ever tried. If you go early they are still warm!! Me and my boyfriend accidentally ate 6 before lunch. Always friendly service (even asked if I'd like to come and make some with her sometime, which I'd love to do by the way). If doughnuts are not your thing, they have exceptionally good coffee also!!

A joint family decision that it was the best Pork Rolls and Jam Doughnuts we've ever had! Customer service was great. We will definitely return and recommend.

Awesome - not only great hog roast baps, but the best coffee in town and delicious doughnuts. Not sure you need to visit anywhere else in Lyme! Such friendly welcoming team, Bailey makes and epic flat white. Hog roast, with apple sauce, stuffing and gravy was so tasty, probably the best we’ve had. Before leaving, we have stocked up on homemade doughnuts to take home. If in Lyme and you don’t try, you will be missing out.

Don't normally write reviews but felt compelled to after visiting this place at lunchtime today. Have to say this was by far the best hog roast roll I've ever tasted & I've had alot as it's my favourite go to when it's on a menu. There was no skimming on the meat or the trimmings & the crackling was amazing, crispy but tender so no worrying about your teeth 😊 We will be back very soon.

Lucky Find, Superb simple food and one of the best coffees I have ever had. At 1st glance a small fast food bar, but what they serve is really high end ingredients and high quality drinks. Friendly and un stuffy enviroment. with definatly revisit when in area.

Friendly staff, most amazing pork sandwich which makes you want more when you’ve finished it even though you are already full up! And the best raspberry doughnut we have ever eaten in our lives. Oh wow!! - I waited such a long time for the opportunity to make a trip to Lyme having heard so much about the food and it did not disappoint. It was my birthday (significant number) and I truly cannot think of anything that I would rather have eaten. My mouth still waters thinking about it - make sure you are truly hungry and definitely have a doughnut for dessert

This is by far the most incredible hog roast experience me and my partner have ever had. Amazing coffee, homemade donuts and a welcoming presence from the mother and son owners. We travel 45 minutes regularly just for The Whole Hog. Anyone visiting Lyme Regis needs to try this place, you won’t be disappointed!

I was drawn to this place because of the outstanding reviews for food, coffee and doughnuts - it did not disappoint! We had the whole hog bap and the chicken bap. Absolutely delicious and generous in size. The barista is highly skilled and deserves high praise for making outstanding coffee - we had an americano and flat whites and they were spot on. The doughnuts were amazing! We went for the raspberry and also the salted caramel honeycomb. The staff were so friendly too. Lyme Regis is a wonderful place to visit and this was truly the icing on the cake for a perfect day. Thank you guys!

This is the best place to pick up a coffee in Lyme and if you are so inclined try one of the cheeky home made doughnut’s rrally the best , oh !and the pulled pork baps are equally delicious and HUGE !

I'd never been to Lyme Regis before, but we watched 'The French Lieutenant's Woman' the other night, and it's only an hour from home, so we thought we'd go. Lyme Regis is a gorgeous seaside town. Much more salubrious than the usual seas-side towns full of amusement arcades and tat shops. Definitely worth a day trip, if not a few days there. We also did some fossil hunting, and came away with a good haul of fossils. Woohoo ! We stopped at a little hole in the wall called The Whole Hog which had been recommended to us. OMG ! Amazing and delicious pulled pork baps. They cook it, cut it and serve it right in front of you. Gorgeous smell, funky place. I would highly recommend you go here if you’re not looking for a proper sit down meal.

A local family business continuing to serve the best donuts, coffee and hog baps in West Dorset. Actually, probably best in all of England. They really should look to emigrate to Australia, then we could enjoy year round 😬

I have to say I went for the coffee as I love Monmouth coffee. It was as good as I thought it would be! I do not usually like donuts, but they looked and smelled so good that I tried one and it was delicious, I think it’s because they are so fresh and warm. Wish I lived nearer and I’d visit everyday. All the other excellent reviews are spot on.

We couldn’t find it ! Walked up and down the street until we realised it was on the road side of the building. Great fun with the owner. Sadly donuts had sold out - mostly by noon she said ! But the roasted chicken sandwich was excellent with stuffing and gravy. Wife and sun had the pork. Equally good. Apple sauce with a hint of cinnamon we thought. Got to be tried - especially walking over to the beach to eat them !
