Was taken here to lunch, fantastic little cafe tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the main streets of Bridport. Positives; * Good proficient menu, a particularly the breakfast just enough options without going overboard. *Served by a young man who seemed mildly clueless in the classic manner of teenage boys, but who was nonetheless efficient, helpful and polite. Followed my instructions beautifully 😉 *everything was clearly cooked to order 👌🏻 * Serious yum sandwich, nice big hunk of bread and generous filling = one happy customer. * clean and bright and airy inside. Negatives;- *Awkward little step as you come in and out nearly had a poor elderly lady come a cropper. * And the radio could do with being turned down a touch just to keep the calm and relaxed vibes coming. (I’m kinda scraping the barrel though to find the negatives tbh)

Really friendly, warm welcome from I believe the owner. This is an outstanding eatery with the best customer service to match wonderful home cooked food. Also a very clean tidy establishment. I had piping hot cappuccino served with a heart shaped shortbread biscuit, such attention to detail. My roasted red pepper & tomato soup served with a warm cheese scone was comfortable food at its best. My husband had a jacket with cheese, beans & salad which was a very generous plate of food. The menu was excellent & included lots of home made cakes which unfortunately we had no room left for. Best cafe in Bridport with most friendly & genuinely nice peeps!

Now here is a problem, if I give a great review, there is a chance more people will visit and leaving us to miss out. It was a great pleasure to step inside, we were greeted with a warm welcome. Initially we only wanted a coffee, but the range of food looked tempting, and as soon as it was clear there was no trouble in catering for my wife, who has to have gluten free we decided to eat. The food was extremely good, service leaves other establishments wanting. So if you decide to go to Bridport, make this a place to visit, BUT leave a place for us.

Every year I come down, I always make the short trip to The Green Yard as their menu caters for all. If you're in Bridport or passing through, this is the place to eat without a doubt whether for breakfast or lunch or just for a brew. Great food and the staff are just lovely. Well behaved dogs are welcome too! Best to either get there early ( if lunching ) or book a table, it fills up fast! You won't be disappointed.

The food is simply not as good as people rate. I had bubble and squeak which was a special. The bubble and squeak itself had no flavor and totally lacked any reasonable level of seasoning - it was bland and somewhat boring. It was served with a poached or fried egg. I chose fried. The first fried egg was totally overcooked, no runny yolk at all. The second was barely any better. The bacon was the only redeeming part of the meal. On leaving and paying, I mentioned the issues (and of course, they'd replaced the first egg already completely agreeing it was overdone). The reaction was basically one of "oh well, never mind, here's the bill". Put simply, they need to do better with both service and food.

We stopped in Bridport on the way home to Newbury, and we were so glad we found The Green Yard. The food selection was fab and we ordered pancakes and salmon, scrambled egg on sourdough. Both delicious. What was also great was that I ordered a tea and it came in a HUGE teapot which is such a change from having a cup of tea that you’ve drunk or has gone cold before food arrives. As ever, delicious breakfasts at Green Yard cafe in Bridport. Saturday, market day. So we'd arrived "early", at 09.00. All the inside tables were taken, so we walked through to the outdoor area and bagged a nice table. Very quickly, Noah had taken our drinks and meals order. Full of beans this guy. Friendly, helpful and really on the ball. Thanks Noah! My sausage sarnies were super-tastey. Others in our group had toast and marmade, and scrambled eggs on toast. Everything delicious, looked great and good value too. We love it here. Everything about it is spot-on. It's located just off the high street. I have visited this place several times before and have generally had a good experience but this made me really uncomfortable especially as I was alone at my table at the time. The tomato and lentil soup was the tastiest I've ever had: home-made by Green Yard, it looked good too. Similarly, my jacket potato was top-notch. Fluffy inside, with a proper-crispy skin. Yum. Generous size + varied salad. I had it with baked beans and a sausage. The others all opted for dishes off the specials board, all v good too. Teas, coffees and soft drink: superb. Everything is good value. Thanks to all here - love it! (Green Yard is just off the high street - look out for their A-board. For more than a decade my wife and I have made annual visits to Bridport where my parents lived and are buried. We always paid a visit to the Green Yard cafe and enjoyed it. I even wrote a five star review for the cafe a couple of years ago. However this year, having driven hard from our home in Berkshire to make lunch at New Yard before it’s published closing time of 3pm, we were turned away rather rudely and dismissively by its proprietor, who told us he had closed early due to lack of customers. “Do you expect me to twiddle my thumbs for an hour?” he told us. Well yes is my answer! Customer service is not about the convenience of the owner but, yes, the service to the customer. You publish 3pm as your closing time. You have to stick to that even if this involves “twiddling your thumbs”. We relied on his stated closing time. He let us down. I’m afraid we will not be visiting his establishment again.

I am so glad I finally managed to visit the Green Yard. I am normally in Bridport too early to come here (they open at 9am) but today I was a bit later. After this experience I am wishing I had stayed in bed a bit longer before all my other trips to Bridport! It is slightly off the beaten track, tucked up a side road from the main street but worth hunting down - you will not be disapointed. I had scrambled eggs on toast with bacon and a 'cup' of tea. You might think scrambled eggs are easy enough to do but so many places overcook them. Not here though; they were beautifully cooked, fresh and hot, slightly soft and a good sized portion too. The portion of bacon was equally generous. As for the 'cup' of tea, I was presented with a huge teapot complete with at least 3 tea bags. Compare that to the tiny pots or cups you get in most places. The bill was more than reasonable, the staff, especially the owner, are friendly and efficient. I really cannot fault this place. It will be my go to place in Bridport from now on.

A small unassuming cafe up a side street. Very ordinary inside - until you place your order. In our experience no cafe will qualify as more friendly. The guy (owner) serving us was the best we've come across. He even thanked us for being nice people! The food and tea were also more than we expected.

What a fantastic place. We had lunch today from a 2 or 3 course menu. A lovely variety on the menu, it was so hard to decide what to have. Each dish was a flavour bomb, looked amazing and the whole experience was superb. Lee and staff have a gem of a bistro. Will definitely come again.

This is my local chippy and I am so happy it is ! These boys serve up the BEST fish and chips you’ll ever taste. Delicious, perfectly fried fish and chips with generous portions. Make sure you give them a visit !

Well, what a lovely place! Recommended by a pal. Went for coffee and cake. This place is unique like going into yourGran’s front room. So cosy, friendly. Hand written bigmenu. Our cake was amazing, the waitress was lovely, friendly with humour. Wish that we lived closer. Great value. Many thanks

Good fish and chips. Decent sizes. Not the best curry sauce... But would go back.

Iv stopped here a few times now and it's a lovely little quiet pub. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The owner Steve is a great host. The room are very clean and comfortable. The pub offers fantastic food, all homemade and the breakfast is one of the best iv had in any hotel. If your looking for a nice quiet place to stop for a few night in Dorset you must stay here.
