A superbly run establishment. Great coffee and tea. Smoked haddock chowder, when on the menu is to die for. Breakfast is of the very best. I've been holidaying in Westbay since 2016 which is when I first discovered "The Green Yard" by anothers recommendation. Every year I come down, I always make the short trip to The Green Yard as their menu caters for all. If you're in Bridport or passing through, this is the place to eat without a doubt whether for breakfast or lunch or just for a brew. Great food and the staff are just lovely. Well behaved dogs are welcome too! Best to either get there early ( if lunching ) or book a table, it fills up fast! You won't be disappointed.

Super friendly little cafe. We sat in the pretty little rear courtyard with our dog. The staff were all very attentive, to us outside, even when they were clearly very busy inside. The fruit scones were delicious and our dog loved the kindness towards her ( and the sausage she was given ) . The artwork was very interesting too. Lovely place to visit in Bridport.

The food is simply not as good as people rate. I had bubble and squeak which was a special. The bubble and squeak itself had no flavor and totally lacked any reasonable level of seasoning - it was bland and somewhat boring. It was served with a poached or fried egg. I chose fried. The first fried egg was totally overcooked, no runny yolk at all. The second was barely any better. The bacon was the only redeeming part of the meal. On leaving and paying, I mentioned the issues (and of course, they'd replaced the first egg already completely agreeing it was overdone). The reaction was basically one of "oh well, never mind, here's the bill". Put simply, they need to do better with both service and food.

We stopped in Bridport on the way home to Newbury, and we were so glad we found The Green Yard. The food selection was fab and we ordered pancakes and salmon, scrambled egg on sourdough. Both delicious. What was also great was that I ordered a tea and it came in a HUGE teapot which is such a change from having a cup of tea that you’ve drunk or has gone cold before food arrives. A definite plus for tea drinkers! The staff were also really friendly and chatty and it made a quick cafe stop so enjoyable. Shame we don’t live nearer!

As ever, delicious breakfasts at Green Yard cafe in Bridport. Saturday, market day. So we'd arrived "early", at 09.00. All the inside tables were taken, so we walked through to the outdoor area and bagged a nice table. Very quickly, Noah had taken our drinks and meals order. Full of beans this guy. Friendly, helpful and really on the ball. Thanks Noah! My sausage sarnies were super-tastey. Others in our group had toast and marmade, and scrambled eggs on toast. Everything delicious, looked great and good value too. We love it here. Everything about it is spot-on. It's located just off the high street. At busy times, especially in the summer, arrive in good time to get a table.

Sadly disappointed with a poor interaction with the manager here today. A comment was made about a birth mark on my neck - I was told I “should cover up that hickey” whilst he pulled my jacket across my neck. I have visited this place several times before and have generally had a good experience but this made me really uncomfortable especially as I was alone at my table at the time. This sort of comment was completely unacceptable and I don’t expect to be treated this way.

Oulr first visit to Green Yard, Bridport, in a year, and my-oh-my, was it good to be back! Super-friendly service troughout, good lunch menu + specials, liscenced. The tomato and lentil soup was the tastiest I've ever had: home-made by Green Yard, it looked good too. Similarly, my jacket potato was top-notch. Fluffy inside, with a proper-crispy skin. Yum. Generous size + varied salad. I had it with baked beans and a sausage. The others all opted for dishes off the specials board, all v good too. Teas, coffees and soft drink: superb. Everything is good value. Thanks to all here - love it! (Green Yard is just off the high street - look out for their A-board. Park in any of the nearby car parks, access is fairly level, toilets are good.)

I had met a friend from Devon dog sitting in Bridport so we were having a beach walk then finding a dog friendly café for lunch - The Green Yard was exactly what we had in mind. Very fresh good quality food, not expensive, friendly staff We arrived at 12:20 and found a table, tje whe place completely filled up within a short time, the couple on the next table were local, they said they eat there at least once a week. We had home made soup with a cheese scone, and oven baked potato with salmon and cream cheese Parking for non locals - we were lucky enough to find 1 hour spaces on the road, there is a car park on tne other side of the main road which is not accessible from Barrack Street, could be best to park at East Street Car Park in Central Bridport and walk

Sentimental occasion lunch for one. Phoned to reserve a table that was agreed, but not actually still free at the time I booked. I appreciate that Saturday is a busy time but it was so disappointing to find that my custom is not actually valued, even though I had two courses. For more than a decade my wife and I have made annual visits to Bridport where my parents lived and are buried. We always paid a visit to the Green Yard cafe and enjoyed it. I even wrote a five star review for the cafe a couple of years ago. However this year, having driven hard from our home in Berkshire to make lunch at New Yard before it’s published closing time of 3pm, we were turned away rather rudely and dismissively by its proprietor, who told us he had closed early due to lack of customers. “Do you expect me to twiddle my thumbs for an hour?” he told us. Well yes is my answer! Customer service is not about the convenience of the owner but, yes, the service to the customer. You publish 3pm as your closing time. You have to stick to that even if this involves “twiddling your thumbs”. We relied on his stated closing time. He let us down. I’m afraid we will not be visiting his establishment again.

I am so glad I finally managed to visit the Green Yard. I am normally in Bridport too early to come here (they open at 9am) but today I was a bit later. After this experience I am wishing I had stayed in bed a bit longer before all my other trips to Bridport! It is slightly off the beaten track, tucked up a side road from the main street but worth hunting down - you will not be disapointed. I had scrambled eggs on toast with bacon and a 'cup' of tea. You might think scrambled eggs are easy enough to do but so many places overcook them. Not here though; they were beautifully cooked, fresh and hot, slightly soft and a good sized portion too. The portion of bacon was equally generous. As for the 'cup' of tea, I was presented with a huge teapot complete with at least 3 tea bags. Compare that to the tiny pots or cups you get in most places. The bill was more than reasonable, the staff, especially the owner, are friendly and efficient. I really cannot fault this place. It will be my go to place in Bridport from now on.

There was nothing to make this establishment stand out from the crowd. Reviews and ratings suggested it would be wonderful. I can’t see it. I had an ordinary Full English Breakfast with over cooked bacon and mushrooms. The portions were average. The best thing was the Black pudding (often excluded these days) although again it was a bit over cooked. It must be me because I can’t see what all the fuss is about with this Slightly cramped Café. It’s fine but nothing more and to me not worth the elevated ratings.

We were in Bridport for the excellent Saturday market and looked out for the Green Yard café (recommended here on TA). This was an excellent experience. The café is very popular - we were lucky to find one of the last 2 tables at 12 noon and we saw many people arrive and have to go away disappointed. Not for the future - by 1pm tables were becoming available again. There is an interesting menu including breakfast and lunch options. My wife chose mushrooms on sourdough toast and I had smashed avacado and poached egg on toast.
