Recently refurbished and it's very nice inside and the garden is pleasant now, the owner/staff are really friendly and welcoming. They have a good selection of proper ales on tap and the prices are reasonable. I will have to visit more regularly now to try all the different ales.

It’s fair to say my husband & I are incredibly polite & friendly. The welcome we received from the awful landlady was a surprise, why on earth anyone with such a poor attitude & miserable demeanour would be in the pub trade is a mystery. Karen’s diner would be more appropriate.

I've never been to this pub before, but I'm glad we did . Family of 6 and grand daughter on Boxing day. Very friendly Atmosphere: There are plenty of ales and beers to choose from pub was full 3 pm on a afternoon. Ended up staying till early evening so many friendly people in there. Landlady was very friendly and chatty .Will definatley be returning soon.

I recently went into the Whitley after not visiting for around a year due to feeling very unwelcome due to poor attitude from the landlady and her partner who I deemed to come across very aggressive not just with me but other customers also. It is as though they don’t want to be working behind the bar and don’t want to serve customers. However despite this I thought I would try again and once again was made to feel very unwelcome by the landlady and her partner. This was on Wednesday 6th September. I used to be a regular drinker in the Whitley but after the way myself and many others have been treated, people try to avoid them and don’t want to drink in the pub. Myself and others have noticed a massive turnover in staff over the last 5/6 years since they have been running the pub. Saddest part really is that the bar staff are absolutely great!! But cannot say the same for the landlady and her partner. You can’t have a laugh and you can’t sing. They listen in on your conversations and they then proceed to have a gossip about whatever it is that they have overheard. Feels like having a good time or even trying to just relax is forbidden. You feel like you have to be careful of what you say or do all the time. I went in again tea time on Friday 8th September around 5/6 pm and was greeted by a lovely young girl and lad (didn’t catch their names unfortunately.) But they really are a credit to that pub and they are what keep the customers coming back. They worked great as a team and was polite and attentive to all who came in. The pub is a lovely place to be in when the landlady and her partner are not behind the bar in all honesty. You can actually have a laugh and enjoy yourself and most importantly feel at ease. Note to the landlady and her partner, you really need to work on your people skills and attitude. Especially when running a pub and being front of house.

This pub won’t survive under the current landlady, she’s in the wrong job. I won’t return until the brewery comes to its senses and replaces her & her partner. Condescending, rude, abrupt, doesn’t listen, impatient, no concept of why people come to pubs! They come to relax & enjoy themselves not be spoken down to or told to shut up. Thoroughly horrible!!!

Landlady is so rude and speaks to the customers like children. Such a lovely pub and business would be booming if the people who live in the local area were not put off by the landlady Alison. You basically have to sit there and be silent - if you make noise, laugh or heaven forbid curse, you are threatened to be thrown out. I’ve seen grown men being dressed down needlessly. The brewery should take action and all this gem of a pub to thrive

Best pub in Halesowen. The beer is always good. The Black Country Fireside is by far the best beer🍺👍 If they don’t have Fireside try the “pig on the wall”

Popped for a bank holiday drink. Advertised outside there was fresh cobs on. Asked the lady behind bar to be told there was none even though it says everyday, what’s the point? At the bar I then swore, not at the lady but in general conversation and was not loud, to be told in a pub I could not swear. Fair enough but it is a pub environment and day to day it happens. I Apologised and she accepted it however I felt she was rude and didn’t want us in there. Fine by me because she’ll not get my trade again. Scared to fart in the boozer without been told off, no cobs on a bank holiday when advertised, what is the point?

Good real ale old fashioned pub. Ale selection is predominantly Black Country ales with some guest ales, new management great pub for a relaxed evening where you can drink and talk without being drowned out by music.

Part of the Black Country Ales brand. Nicely furnished with real fire and clean throughout. Sport on the tv and radio in the background. I enjoyed a Jennens ale and hard scratchings for £4.85. I wanted to get a card for the ticking off each of the pubs 8n the chain, but was told not available until the new year. Certainly worth visiting

Great little place!!! Good beer and very friendly staff, including the Gaffer and his missus!!! Lovely beer garden but looks out onto a busy main road! That's the only reason it's not got five stars off me, but that's no-ones fault!!! Definitely go again!!!!!!

The Staff was Awful the Owner barred me because I went mad at her because she turn away my teenage Daughter who was under age of 16 and I never knew children cannot attend this pub after 7pm that's how there treat there new customers.Awful.

Group of four visited and was greeted by the worse attitude from a waitress I haven’t ever experienced! Was later told it was the landlady!!! Walked passed us twice when she noticed we had no drinks then politely asked her if we could order was met with ‘wait’ last visit

Feel like this is very much a 'regulars' pub which is no bad thing in particular, however beer choice was limited for a BCA pub and after an initial warm welcome from the first bartender, felt left in the cold by the rude second who seemed to dislike customers ordering by tap number and then served completely the wrong pint whilst throwing us dirty looks in the meantime. Not sure I'd visit again even though the beer was lovely.

Nobody drinks in the place now gaffers gone bad last time I was in their the woman gaffer listened in my conservation they ear wig on everyone they took the piss out of my hair you not allowed to talk in their now WATCH your language also can't eat things not even in your own car on car park no babies allowed apparently they treat customers badly like my son who got barred for no reason and they make rubbish up the woman gaffer keeps looking at you and listening in on conversations so you have to sit like a stuffed dummy how bad you can't relax in this pub toilets are like a bloody hotel air fresheners in pub going off make you sneeze, no music on either. The cobs are discusting the cheese cheap like pound land cheese don't mention what they call stew dog food looked better the cider is discusting looks waterd down not to mention the draught coke it's cheap stuff needs new gaffers in it all they do is turn customers away they need to run a hotel not a pub avoid this pub better ones around

The staff were rude. The pub is not disability aware. I have a hearing impairment. Had to switch hearing aids off because of screaming kids running around. Don't visit this pub unless you like school playgrounds. Don't visit if you have a disability. I suggest a visit to the Britannia in Wollaston if you want to watch football or the Shovel for friendly staff and good beer at great prices.
