The Hilly House in Dudley

My family and I visited the Hilly House after our wedding and all the staff were absolutely amazing with us and made us feel extra special on our big day. Cannot thank them enough!

Never been before, Lovely atmosphere, landlady and bar staff were so friendly and welcoming made us feel like we had been going there for years.... Will 100% be back with the family as the outside space is fantastic, lots of space for the kids to have fun. Landlady also said have lots of events running on different days and nights... Thank you for a great night

Popped in on the off chance and treated my mother in law to lunch - this was a treat because we didn't know the pub did food. The food was delicious and the staff are super friendly. Pub had a great atmosphere 👌

Bestest place to visit in Dudley . The ambience and the food are top notch and the staff is very friendly and welcoming aswell . They offer pool table and board games to play as well . Loved my first visit hr and I’m sure I’ll be visiting more with my friends and family . 👍🏼👍🏼💯💯💯

Visited today 31/7/24 great pub very good service. Ordered 2 cheese salad cobs with chips,great value for money best cobs we’ve had highly recommend.

Visted the Hilly House after not coming for a while and the food was amazing. Really big portion sizes, absolute value for money. Very large private ear garden which is kept clean. The staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. 100% will be coming again and recommending others.

Hadn’t been for a while so thought we’d check it out. Took my mum for lunch, the food was great and good value for money,! The outside space is great especially when the sun is shining. Barstaff very friendly and polite, overall a great afternoon out.

Really good food like it should be, friendly staff and good ale. Mixed grill is massive and well worth the money, lasagne was homemade and fab. Kids ate for £1 absolute bargin.

Amazing atmosphere friendly staff with brilliant service great vibe altogether such a very welcoming pub to go to. Food is amazing cooked perfect so filling and generous servings couldn't ask for any better with the entire experience in the hilly house.

I have been in this pub many times and I must say the current manager and the team are brilliant! Sam is a truly hardworking and enjoyable person to know and be around. Also the food that I have previously ordered and ate has always been cooked and brought out without any issues. Will most definitely be returning many more times and would highly recommend this pub to anybody.

We've been coming to this pub for the past 15 years, we've seen it change hands quite a few times, and it hasn't always been the best. After visiting today we've noticed how much better it is, and how accommodating the staff are. A big thank you to Sam for the food, as it was nice, and a thank you to Dan who was really friendly with great customer service.

This is our local we live close to the pub they are always respectful of the noise.. its a lovely family run pub and always get service with a smile relaxed atmosphere and just a nice place to be and eat

Went in after the Dudley arms wasn't doing food,really really glad we did,such a chilled atmosphere,very friendly service,me the missus and the two kids loved our food. We definitely be coming back.

We went last night and waited over an hour and a half for food. Then noticed the man working in the kitchen collecting food was at the tables having a beer with friends. It was very unprofessional and the food wasn't even nice and clearly had been warmed up. Very clicky in there with the public if you're not part of their friends then you get terrible service

We waited an hour for just 2 meals. After 40 minutes, we asked for an update on the food only to find that the man responsible for cooking had been sitting at a nearby table drinking booze with another bunch of customers he clearly knew. No apology when the food came and the food itself was really poor. Awful service.

Now that the hilly house is under new management I thought I'd give the food a second go after having a terrible before they had taken over. I had the steak it was cooked to perfection it was a lovely meal if anything I could say to improve it I like my food hot but overall it was a lovely meal for all four of us. Also good value.

Won't be going back had to wait 50 minutes for food . There were only 4 people in the pub so the chef wasn't rushed and when it came is was poor

Took my dogs there and family loved it and love the food to I would recommend the burgers so good 👍 😋

Worst dinner we ever had paid £180 for 2 adults 3 children we had 2 slices of turkey one Yorkie 5 carrots 6 sprouts 2 burnt pigs in blankets a few parnips and burnt stuffing we were expected to share a gravy boat between two adults and a small one between three children when asked for more was a problem we got told we had enough my partner had no gravy at this point the waiter said it wasn’t his problem that marstons say it’s enough to share ridiculous rude I will say the lady was polite but think more to the point embarrassed at the sorry state dinners would not go again discusting we all have bad tummy’s now to gross needs closeing down I’ve gave it a one as pudding was at least bigger than my main dinner no joke

A little gem of a pub with a very welcoming atmosphere to be enjoyed by diners and drinkers alike. Rita deserves a special mention with a welcome and a smile to brighten even the darkest of days. Highly recommended.

I have visited the Hilly House every day for over 30 years and have made and lost a lot of friends there. The present management are proving to be the best since Trisa a few years ago and i am hoping the place will now pick up and i will see the friends that left.

Warm and friendly family pub. The food is good value for money. There is a lovely beer garden with great views of the surrounding area and the staff and owners are very welcoming. Would highly recommend.

Very welcoming, food very good. Maybe slightly more salad with the chicken and bacon would have been appreciated, however very tasty. Shame no jacket potatoes on the menu, the freshly baked baguettes were delicious.

Very nice and friendly pub, clean and well maintained. Food was excellent. This pub has come a long way from what it used to be. Some of the menu items were unavailable, this happened on a few visits but the menu items that they did have were of very high quality indeed, will eat here again 100%

My family member was asking a question regarding facilities, the manager become hostile, and aggressive. This pub has had many new managers in my time of drinking there (since 1996) already these are the worst I have seen at customer service. Oh no sorry you need to know what customers are to be able to provide a service. Unfortunately they fail miserably Perhaps someone should enlighten them and the Brewery that without customers you are a manager of an empty building !!! Please send on training to be front facing as opposed to getting a licence and being vile arrogant and unapproachable

Booked a table for 5 people for fathers day we arrived on time to find no table reserved! No roast dinners left either!! We had said when booking that we all wanted a roast lunch,very disappointed the manager wasn't in the least bit apologetic will not ever be returning, absolute shambles!!!!

Lovely little pub. I only stopped off with family for a drink. I have been there before and had a meal. The food is beautiful and the prices are very reasonable

Last visited 3 years ago. Exactly same as I remember. Staff friendly. Beef and chicken burgers were ok.

Ate in here for the first time today. The pub is a nice quiet pub with lots of windows and good views across kingswinford area. The food was not the best I had a chicken burger the bun was hard and the tomato was past it's best. My fella had a skinny steak and his salad consisted of a few mixed leaves some of them already browning cucumber red onion and a couple of past best tomatoes. For desert we ordered 3 scoops of ice cream and a sticky toffee pudding. The desert should have been served separately but can as one desert with one spoon disappointing 🤣 would I come back possibly for a drink and a light bite but the quality of the food needs to improve.

Had an amazing night here last night with family and friends. The staff were friendly, the service was great and the food was amazing. There was a big group of us out for a meal and we all had our food within a reasonable waiting time and everyone said how much they enjoyed it. Thanks to everyone at the Hilly House for making it a great night.

This pub was quiet so no masks in place. There was no guard on counter an people sitting at bar. This is my opinion an no others wouldn't b bothered by these things

My partner booked a table weeks in advanced for my daughters birthday for 10 people. And we arrive to place full and no table to sit on we had to stand round for 20 mins for a table to become available to the point my one year old son had to feed him in his pram. Not impressed at all

Hilly house advertised a halloween party. Advertised to book in advance to avoid disappointment, I did this a month prior. Turned up on the 31st with a party of 10 (booked) to get there for the lady at the bar to say there's no seats as she didn't know who has booked and who hasn't. To be then shoved round the corner away from the party. This was also my daughters 10th. I had the cake brought out to her which they then left uncovered on the table we where sitting at. We ordered food and I requested steak with chips, Tom's, onion rings and peas and we'll done. My food arrived with steak, salad and medium rare. Social distancing was none existing and people where everywhere to the point you was nearly falling over people and kids, the pud it self is to small for functions that they offer and its more money making than safety or experience. My first time time here and my last. I booked to avoid disappointment as advertised and yet still was disappointed. Dont advertise if it won't work or get a better booking system that works and when you've reached maximum say no more, don't invite extras to get your moneys worth.

Not been here for years Then visited 3 times in 1 month. Friendly welcome everytime. We even selected it to have a celebration of life as it has great space, staff very accommodating and buffett was just right! Its also dog friendly, so a huge plus!

I was looking forward to having a nice meal in this pub as I often do. We ordered drinks and sat down. When I went to get a menu, only then I was told that the kitchen was closed. A notice on the door would have been a good idea and would not have takin much time to compose. I will not be going there again in a hurry.

Few of us stopped off for food, drinks and pool no complaints, the girls who served us were amazing the food was great and we all suck at pool 🤣

All round great place to visit . Food was cheap and cheerful . The staff were polite and accommodating for our needs bar staff and owners were on site and hands on we will visit again . Just one criticism the menu could be a little more extensive I'm guessing it will be when things get back to normal . So enjoy you visit 110% recommended from me

Lovely pub with friendly staff. Lots of parking space with a covered beer garden that's quite large. As an ale drinker, I was hoping for more choice as they had 8 taps but only the same 2 generic ales on. Hobgoblin Gold and Banks's Amber, hence the loss of a star. Overall, a wonderfully located pub, just outside of Dudley, that is a pleasure to visit.
