Having booked a room at short notice at the Seven Stars in Stourbridge I was delighted with the friendly staff and locals and the quality of the establishment. I was happy to pay £110 for the room given the short notice and Christmas period. The room itself was perfect except for the Aircon fans outside being slightly noisy but it wasn't really a problem. Unfortunately the room was located above the kitchen and at around 6.30am I was woken by the noise of a radio and someone singing loudly to the music. At this point I didn't know where the noise was coming from so I got dressed at knocked on the door of another room thinking that may be where the noise was coming from. A lady answered the door and it became obvious the noise wasn't coming from there. I apologised for disturbing them and she said they were up anyway so not to worry. I then went downstairs and realised the noise was coming from the kitchen. I walked in an asked the man there to turn the volume down and stated I'd paid £110 and didn't expect to be disturbed. He was very very aggressive and told me to get out as it was a private area. I responded by saying I'd paid for the privacy of a private room. As I walked away I realised he still had the radio blaring so I told him to turn it down again which he did but he was very aggressive. I then went back to bed for a little more sleep. The complete disregard for paying guests was appalling. When I left I dropped the room keys on the bar and a woman appeared and asked me if everything had been alright? I said I'll call you later. At that point she followed me out to speak to me. I explained what had happened and then she accused me of swearing at the man concerned which I absolutely hadn't. Then she claimed that I hadn't heard anything so I said there's no point discussing it but I won't be staying here again! Later on unbeknown to me my son called the b&b to complain after which the lady called me and told me the rooms are sound proofed which obviously they aren't. Unbelievably she again claimed I couldn't have heard noise in the kitchen from my room. At that point I politely ended the call. Does she honestly think I would complain about noise if there wasn't any? No apology or offer of any kind of recompense was attempted so consequently I've taken to social media to warn people that due to an aggressive inconsiderate individual there, they may not get what they're paying for.

The lovely people at The Seven Stars saved the day! It was my wife’s birthday and we had 17 guests, but our original restaurant was hit by a storm induced power cut. On entering the room we were really pleased, the room is spacious, the on-suit is large and the whole room is spotlessly clean. The extra's in the room were above expectations, we will definitely stay here again, when visiting the area and would highly recommend the Severn Stars. You’ll feel so comfortable in this pub you won’t want to leave! Grade II listed, this former Mitchell & Butlers house retains much of its original charm and character with the addition of the exhaustive range of cask ales you will find across the Black Country Ales estate. Booked a table for my mothers 87th Birthday. I decided to give them a call ahead to see if there was something they could put on the table for her just to make it a bit more special as mom is also disabled so not able to get out very often. I spoke to a member of staff called Matt. I explained it was my mom’s birthday and I asked if there was something they could put on the table and he hesitated and replied in what respect ? I said I don’t know maybe a little balloon he said no sorry we don’t do that. I felt his attitude was a little poor and he came across sarcastic in all honesty and just didn’t want to help and make the visit more special for my mom. I am pretty sure they could have put something on the table even just a little decoration I even offered to pay and to be honest I was tempted to cancel the booking and go elsewhere as never known a pub/restaurant not willing to make someone’s birthday visit just that extra bit special. Especially a lady of 87!!! We decided to go as have been visiting and having deliveries from here for a few years now and always received good service and excellent food. However of late I do feel the standards are slipping. I had gammon and turkey my mom had the turkey and to be honest it was just ok nothing to write home about. 2 roast potatoes and not a great selection of vegetables at all just cabbage and carrots. I did eat it all as I was so hungry but mom left a lot of hers. The waitress serving didn’t once smile and when she brought us our cheesecake desserts they were just plonked on the table and we were handed a spoon which was not wrapped in a serviette and mine had food all up the handle I had to get a wet wipe and clean it off as there was no staff member in sight. We were also not given forks which you should have with a cheesecake. The place just does not have the same welcoming feel to it anymore the standard of service and food has definitely slipped and at 2pm I was very surprised as normally this is a very busy pub but there were not many in at all. I think I will be giving this place a wide berth for a while in all honesty there are plenty more pub/restaurants in the area with better food and service who will always go out of their way to make someone’s special day that bit more special!!
