Lovely pub, with a jukebox and pool table, we only stopped for a quick pint but would have stopped longer. There is also an outdoor area. Will visit again

Hi! I called in 'on spec' on a Thursday lunchtime for the first time in 33 years! Does anyone remember me? I used to frequent the Gun Room as it was, back in the late 70's and 80's on Friday and Saturday night. The present manager - sorry if I've got that wrong - is a friendly type and he told me of all the changes that the R&C has undergone over the years. Not the best time of day to review a pub admittedly, but it was good to see it again. Best wishes.

Found this venue through 'wheelchair accessible' site, which indeed it was, but little lunchtime atmosphere as food was not available, and apparently hasn't been available for 3 years. Website therefore needs updating to reflect this.

Glad to see this pub has come a long way in recent years, this was my first visit for a very long time. The refurb in recent years has massively improved this pub. Much nicer, cleaner, tidier than before... Both inside and outside for that matter! The beer garden is especially lovely, with plenty of shelter in case it rains. Drinks seem to be reasonably priced, service was fast and the staff are friendly. Good sized free carpark too!

A fantastic new dining experience at the Rose and Crown. Big Bucking Burgers, an American-themed menu has been introduced. I had the Snoop Dawg it was fabulous. I washed it down with a couple of one of the many Beers on offer. There is a huge menu choice so I will be going back for more.

Good pub, haven't been in for a while, but a nice atmosphere to go and watch the footy. Nice pint of Corona as well

Went in for the first time....on a mid afternoon. Cheaper drinks than I thought they would be being A Greene King pub. Downside tv opposite each other showing different sports both with volume up...

On atmosphere alone, this place would warrant a 4 as it’s very warm, cosy, and comfortable. Service was great. The staff were bubbly, attentive, and very lovely people. Really really fantastic service actually. The food is a bit average, but it is piping hot! The portions were huge, I ended up finishing over 2/3rds of my girlfriend’s. Good spot for a relaxing lunch.

Great too see one of the best pubs in the area coming back into its own. Great manager and staff, really turning it around.

Seeing friends locally, heard that there were new Landlords. Walked in, friendly greeting. Asked if I could park,in the car park if I came in later. Yes, no worries. Decent atmosphere. Def come back here again. Suggest others give these new people the opportunity to show them a revamped Pub with friendly staff ✔️😊 Thanks again 😊

Reasonable venue but not as much real ale as my past visits.

Seen the sign for Sunday roast and thought we’d give it a try . Lovely atmosphere and friendly welcoming staff . The beef and turkey were perfect!! No fat, which is always a winner in my book . The gravy was rich , dark and very tasty . Didn’t expect much but I was pleasantly surprised. Most definitely will be returning!! Big thumbs up from me

No idea what's going on here tbh. A succession of landlords. The place can never decide whether its food-led, 'wet' or an entertainment type of place. As a result, it does everything in a mediocre fashion.Greene King takeover seems to have had zero effect on beer quality, and to my surprise, it doesn't seem to have been branded as per other GK pub brands e.g. flaming grill. Indeed it isn't even listed on the GK website.Throw in more than an isolated allegation of drug use on the premises (see Facebook page - and indeed that was the 1st thing a tradesman said to us when we mentioned the pub) add a stabbing incident outside there on Sunday 25th August, to which 7 emergency vehicles responded, and finally, a safety issue over taxis double parking on yellow lines and drunken revellers spilling out into the road and you have one to avoid. Sad as location and architecturally this place should be good

Enville is always a good pint to find

I've had lunch on a couple of occasions at this local pub. There's a special deal at lunchtime on a choice of meals and I have to say that I was impressed by the menu and the quality of the food except for one thing; the bread and butter pudding was disappointing!! I make a much better version myself. The dining room is very light with plenty of windows looking out onto the car park area. Friendly staff. A pleasant place to meet up with friends.

not real mashed potato but tasted like SMASH,since changed hands gone right downhill the food and GRAVY used to be amazing.. also the garden used to be spotless and flower baskets etc, now fag ends plastered all over the garden,, sweep it up..

Not like it used to be! Too many young lads going in using drugs mainly on a weekend..

Excellent food, good weekend entertainment

Honestly - STAY AWAY - the food is appalling - a total waste of money. The Owners were present and seemed to have little or no interest at all in the customers. My husband had the rib eye steak - well I cannot really call it steak - it was more like donkey meat. Totally uneatable. I had chicken and it was burnt - yes burnt - hard to burn chicken but they succeeded - well done guys. I do not know who they had in the kitchen but clearly they had no idea how to cook. I will not be going ever again and I all I can recommend is - Keep your money in your pocket - eat somewhere else I only give true and honest genuine reviews and on this occasion I really cannot stress how very very bad it was.

Expensive and poor service gone downhill

Plenty of car parking space. Outside looking warm and attractive. Inside very worn and tatty. Bench seats have holes in them. Tables are old and sticky. Toilets falling apart. Very basic food menu. The food is prepared quite well and is tasty. Only one real ale on tap when we visited. Staff are helpful and friendly. Popular venue for the locals but they deserve much better than this. Shame on you Greene King, you're making millions, get this place brought up to date now!

Really good selection of drinks, well presented

Have visited this pub many times on a Sunday in the last year and loved the food - all home cooked and really good value. The last time we visited however we were really disappointed with the food. A typical chain pub style roast-the place was virtually empty when previous Sundays it was heaving. A real shame. Unlikely to be returning.

Decided to go to the rose and crown for a birthday meal. Been before and always enjoyed it this time however very disappointed found out it had changed hands hence the new menu I certainly won't be going back ☹☹ the chef I've found out has gone to the French hen in clent. Don't blame him wiv the new menu

Not been since late November Disappointed in the cleanliness of toilets .... entrance to car park had broken glass ..which coukdnt be avoided as cars parked beyond the disabled bays !! Tight squeeze past Hadn't been in 20 minutes and there was a disturbance... Won't be frequenting in near future Really disappointed !!!

A pub with 10 handpulls but no beer!!!

Had Sunday dinner there the last couple of weeks & food was lovely. It does get really busy so I would recommend booking a table & as on Sundays all they serve is Sunday dinners it may even be worth booking your choice of meat in advance to avoid disappointment.

went twice recently to eat with relatives. the pub was clean and a good atmosphere. the menu was full of good choice of meals, reasonally priced. the staff were nice and friendly.i would reccomend this pub highly.

Second time we've eaten in here and left a lot to be desired, not being pedantic but the quality and presentation were poor, they only had frozen chips they were hard the single mushroom was dry and crinkled up not even cooked the steak i ordered medium to well done it was well done will not be ordering that again, on the positive side the staff were pleasant anf attentive so could be a one off with the food

Family visit enjoying the Xmas Fayre Menu - Food was delicious & couldn't be faulted just the service was slow (not sure if many orders coming from bar but restaurant was quiet) 2 + hrs for 4 people 3 courses.

The beer has been terrible, not sure whats happened, but Bathams, Enville used to be a good drink. Last 2 times not good.

Visited this local pub many time for food and was alway good. However, visited today at around 16:30, asked for the £5 menu and was told it now finishes at 15:00. Ordered the chilli con carne and slow cooked belly pork. Long wait before food arrived. Small portion of chilli, belly pork was not good and left. Won't be going back again.

We had a really good experience today. We visit the Rose and Crown every Tuesday lunch time. The staff are very attentive and remember our preferences. The food takes a while but we like that as the standard of the cooking is high and the meals made from fresh produce.

Rude member of staff who thinks it's ok to get you attention by poking her finger in you. Band we came to see came on 1 hour late due to people dining why was this allowed to happen bad planning spoilt our nite as we didn't get to see as much of the bang as we would've liked

beautiful sunday lunch, fantastic mash and gravy, dinner was perfect APART from one small let down, yorkshire puds were quite burnt again, just need to correct this and yes the best dinner in the midlands, and the homemade cheesecake and pouring cream,, beautiful.melts in the mouth.

Friday evening, pleasant staff attentive not an extensive menu but something for most i had the gammon on a board very nice and a lot if it food was excellent, large seating area and i large outside seating area away from the main bar.

Popped in on a saturday evening . The cheek of charging £3.40 for a pint of flat carling larger . The girls behind the bar are more interested in how they look than serving customers . Toilets are filthy beer bucket on the floor to put paper towels in overflowing . Take 2 mins to empty a so called bin . And the floor in the gents is swimming with urine. The pub as a dirty drain smell to it . Wont be going back in a hurry

Excellent value for money first class food freshly cook, every week a specials menu with so much choice starters and mains, also have to give a mention to all the staff always pleasant and polite nothing is to much trouble Highly recommend a visit

I used to frequent this pub some 20 years ago when it was busy and had a good vibe to the place . We visited last night and wow! What a doghole it has become. We were forced to drink Guinness because every other tap beer or larger was disgusting. The glasses were dirty, the bar and tables were sticky and the service was absolutely terrible, the bar staff looked flilthy and we were obviously a hindrance to them and were keeping them from playing on their phones out the back. I have heard good reports about the food but will never get to sample the delights as I will never set foot in the dump again.

I have been here before and again on this visit I was not disappointed, I decided this time as it was a hot day I would sit in the restaurant to eat and drink as the bar area was very warm. I found a very nice seating area for one which overlooked the very large windows showing the large beer garden area. It is a very spacious dining area that is light and roomy and nicely decorated. A view of the kitchen area can be seen which I find is a good sign of a great eatery. I did not see much of the beer garden but what I did see looked good. While drinking my wine I perused the menu, today I went for food from the market choice menu. I started with battered calamari which came with a side salad and a sweet chilli dipping sauce. The sauce was awesome, nice and spicy just how I like it. I followed this up with Goat's cheese, sun-dried tomatoes and basil ravioli in a cream sauce, it also came with a large bowl of side salad and garlic bread. Wow was I surprised, the ravioli was to die for, I've not had this before but was so happy that I had chosen it. The filling was beautiful and the creamy sauce was very yummy. Excellent side salad and the garlic bread was perfect, crisp, nicely browned and ooozing garlic butter. I decided to also have a desert and on this occasion I had the Eaton Mess, mmmmm scrumptious. Great food served in an excellent surrounding and by a very professional waitress. I was left to my own devices while I dined, drank and read, all in all a very pleasant 2 hours was spent. I shall endeavour to eat in the restaurant more as it is a very pleasing experience. Thanks again to the landlady and her staff for the excellent food and service that is provided.

Used to use this pub 40 years ago. Couldn't resist popping in. It's turned into a pub/restaurant serving very nice well made, home cooked food. We've no been back a handful of times. Every time it has been good. The staff are friendly and the service is excellent. We will definitely be back.

The Food Is Excellent And Only Spoiled By The Poor Service - Starters Were Excellent And Although We Waited Quite A While For The Main Courses To Arrive It Was Well Worth It - Cooked To Perfection It Was Spoiled By The Waitress Asking If There Was Anything Else We Would Like To Which We All Replied Together - Yes Please Cutlery To Eat Our Meal With - No Apology - Just Put The Cutlery On The Table And Walked Away!
