Brierley Hop House in Dudley

I have been here a few times with friends on a Saturday night and always have a good time, the atmosphere is always spot on the staff are always great for a laugh and us girls always feel safe, this week I attended a family party upstairs - never been upstairs before it was great. The room is beautiful and nice to see Jack up there. I had no idea how great the room was, I knew it was there but really had no idea how great it was another plus for the Hop House and thanks to Jack I had another great night. The girls and I are back at the end of the month for Danny P see you soon Hop House

Don’t believe everything you read! Having read three reviews on here about a party I attended I felt I had to comment on my own experience. The young man behind the bar did a fantastic job which was to his credit. Some of the attendees treated him appallingly. Bar staff are not there to be shouted at just because they can’t serve 10 people at once or they don’t have the drink you require. I witnessed, on more than one occasion, him being spoken to in a rude and sometimes aggressive manner and he did not on those occasions swear at that customer so I find it hard to believe he would speak to someone in that way without provocation. Well done to the management in standing up for their employee

i am absolutely appalled and disgusted at a party I went to at the hop house on Saturday night it was my neices engagement party and the bar man (jack) was disgusting his language was terrible, I had my 15 year old step daughter with me and I do not appreciate him using the language he did in front of her, he had a attitude when we first walked in the party, I asked for a water i was told i had to go down stairs for that so i had a tonic water, i asked for a glass and i was told i couldnt have a glass the straws were on the bar but he did not say this nicely at all. At the end of the night at 11.45 the same lad came over to us to hurry up and f*****g drink our drinks, i was so shocked with what he said and how he was and I do not appreciate the language in front of my step daughter. I think he needs a new job maybe not in a bar if that is how he is going to speak to customers. As we were leaving the party I heard him shouting at Mitch who is marrying my neice telling him to get the F**k out the pub, we left the pub....... I'm aware there was a heated exchange after speaking to my sister yesterday between jack and Mitch but I heard Jack shouting and swearing as I said earlier I think he needs a new job not in a bar !!!!!!!! I will never come into the pub again if that is how the bar staff are with customers and i advise any one else not to......

We attended an engagement party on Saturday night…..we were at the bar ordering our first drink, when another party member approached the bar (who we didn’t know), he asked the bartender what time food would be served, his reply was ‘it’s not my f******g party, how do I know!’ I was completely gobsmacked by the comment but thought that the two may have known one another!?! Turns out, they didn’t! I was also witness to the bartender shouting… it’s 12 o’clock, can you all get the f**k out, throwing his arms in the air! Again, I was totally shocked because people were indeed tidying up after the party! Donna, If this was your Son, I strongly suggest you speak to him regarding his obnoxious attitude as this behaviour will only generate terrible publicity for you in the future. I don’t frequent this pub anyway but will certainly be telling friends and family about my experience here, felt so sorry for the newly engaged couple and their family who had to endure this experience.

Went to engagement party an the bar mans attitude was discusting .my hubbys beer smelt vile and tasted nasty so he told the young bar man and he said very cocky well no1 else as complained ,he never smelt the glass or appologised ,he was also rude to other guests throughtout the night and at the end of it he told the engagement couple &family to get the f**k out when all the were doin was cleaning up after the party and trying 2 leave room tidy,the manager wasnt much better with her attitude either and later find out this was his mom .never again will i go back there .

Popped in for a drink on a Wednesday night. Empty, last orders at 9.15, closed at 10. Place seemed pleasant enough but...🙄

Had my husband's 40th in their function room upstairs. Donna and the team were great! Thanks to Mathew the DJ too! We all had a brilliant night. Highly recommended using the Hop House for all kinds of celebrations!

Great location, parking. And general all round service here. Come here several times a year for fishing events in the area and the manager Donna and the staff always go out there way, whether it's breakfast, making sure we register parking, and now we always come in after for some food before a long drive home, over the last 4 years we've been 12 times and always been a pleasure.

Had lunch with my sister and our two kids. Staff are very friendly and helped us get a high chair to our table. Food was excellent, would definitely recommend this place

I have been using the hop house regularly at weekends for over twelve months now and always find a good friendly service however busy they are with good food and easy parking great in the summer with an outside area over looking the waterfront

Had a lovely lunchtime meal here yesterday, very reasonable prices and decent quality..... would highly recommend, enjoyed by the 3 of us

Had a couple of pints of Guinness with my mates which was expertly poured by the well presented and pretty Paige barmaid , service with a smile x

Turned away for food when the place was empty. Won’t be returning.

Foods always good, place is always clean, prices are fair

2 visits so far, food good. Only issue is I can never order mixed grill as they are always out of stock. We got told it’s popular, my advice would be order more if you know it’s popular? We came in on a Sunday and was told the delivery was on Monday so we came in again on a Tuesday to still be out of stock. How can it always be out of stock?

This is a really nice place good to go for drinks and food was also served by chloe and page they are great to speak to very polite and friendly and made us feel very welcomed

My wife and I love this little pub situated on the waterfront in Dudley . So friendly with music for all . To let your hair down with a cold one and a boogie.

Drinks extortionate prices £14.50 for 2 glasses of wine £4.00 to park tried ordering food at 7.35.. website states food served till 8.00pm... wetherspons here we come...will not be returning

40+ members of my family gathered to celebrate our mums birthday this past Saturday afternoon. The function room was already in use but the manager reserved part of the pub and put on a great buffet. Also ate there the night before when the burgers were excellent. Very friendly and helpful staff and excellent food and drink at reasonable prices.

First visit in some years for lunch with our daughters. The cheeseburgers and cowboy were tasty, Jill had the steak pie, again very nice. Samantha had the hot dog and enjoyed it. Service was very good.

Had a lovely meal here today service excellent served by a lovely young lady Ellie Paige . Definitely recommend this place .

I think this place is best for all. People of all ages whiter or not your just staying for a drink or dining out. The food is extremely well cooked. Honestly cooked to perfection. I like my steak cooked medium rare and in all honesty it's hard to find a place in which can actually cook a medium rare steak. Here at the Brierly hop house they can. Pints are fresh on tap too. The price for extra large mixed grill 3 pints and 2 deserts was £55. In my eyes that's really not bad nowadays. (6.2.24). We sat by the fire place the ambience was quite romantic and with the music playing quietly in the background made it extra special. Thank you to all staff involved in making my wife and I's stay so welcoming and pleasant. M Brown.

My husband had the mega mixed grill and I had the surf and turf all food was cooked perfect. Finally a chef that can cook a steak. The waitress and bar staff ellie and shell was lovely and welcoming. Will definitely be back again thanks

Came here for my daughter's birthday celebrations there we about 24 of us and a baby shower upstairs which was packed there wasn't enough staff to serve the poor girl downstairs was run ragged tbh not her fault poor planning for a Saturday afternoon the drinks were pricey the spirits as I'd say it was cheaper drinking unleaded the food was pub food but at least it was hot that was a bonus

Family Christmas meal at the Hop House on Sunday the 17th .I have got to say Donna and the team did us proud , all thirteen of us thoroughly enjoyed the Christmas experience ,Table decorated beautifully , Food all served together delicious and piping hot .Starter main and sweet and sides all to perfection . Went on a Saturday night service and general atmosphere was okay. It was a bit quiet and could have been down to a wedding reception upstairs and the DJ being so loud it was overpowering the downstairs. Didn't have any food.

A really lovely place to visit. The staff and the owner are lovely and offer a friendly, welcoming service. The pub offers good deals and serves some nice meals. The whole pub is clean and offers a welcoming environment for all. I would recommend a visit here, especially with the setting of the pub near to the canal.

Had a really lovely time at The Hophouse in Brierley Hill. Our food was amazing and staff could not have been more accommodating. In particular, one young lady called Kiera, who served our table. Very welcoming, polite and helpful throughout our meal. Will definitely be coming back!
