I visited this Costa store with my husband and 8mo baby. I ordered mango bubble frappe. I was served mango bubble tea. Simple mistake you would think that wouldn’t be a problem to rectify. Well … the girl serving us said I need to wait for her colleague to rectify this. I said OK and went to feed my crying hungry baby . 10 min later still no drink and the girl who was meant to rectify the mistake continued to serve other customers. When I went over she said she didn’t make the drink because I sat down (???) I sat down to feed my baby! She was extremely rude with an appalling attitude and said I had to pay £0.75 extra as she undercharged me. You would think she would let that slide for the sheer fact that they made a mistake and I had already had to wait. After charging me extra she then refused to make the actual drink!!! She actually stole my money and did not make me the drink. Her name is Darcy. Very young blond girl with a disgusting attitude. She would not give me a name of her manager and there was no store manager in on that day. Both girls had an appalling attitude towards the customers but Darcy topped everything off!! I think the reason why they think they can get away with it is because there is no one in charge. Who has employed them??? I have already logged an official complaint with Costa but people have to be warned of what sort of people are allowed to run this store when there is no one in charge!!

I didn't order any food but my hot chocolate was worth it and the staff are so friendly and happy to help.

Stopped by this Costa while coming back home from Birmingham. Usual Costa coffee shop. Staff was nice and friendly, served me fast and also offered me a coffee cardboard tray so I didn't have to struggle going out to the car as I had 2 drinks to take away. I've ordered 2 milkshakes and they were tasty as always. I love Costa

Castlegate cafe is a hidden gem! The great atmosphere, really welcoming, attentive staff, and mouthwatering dishes make it a must-visit spot.

Poor customer service, understaffed and those who manage the franchise their focus is the profit making and no community respect that keeping Costa coffee open. She Didn’t listen in few occasions and made the Wrong order, one time had to wait 1 hour because she forgot, their excuse was they were distracted from the communication headset from people outside making orders, I was customer in the shop and those outside the shop were given priority. New staff and new management is solution

Staff are lovely but it's always cold so I will sometimes go to the the Starbucks across the way.

I just patiently waited 10 minutes at the counter, the guy had his back to me, didn’t acknowledge I was there or indicate he’d be with me in a minute, it wasn’t overly busy and there were other team members available.. guess I’ll go Starbucks across the road instead

Normal Costa atmosphere. Need more gluten free options for me to rate food higher. I dislike that the menu display rotates. I have to wait through an advert or two in order to see the drinks menu which appears briefly.

It's small but it has such a lovely atmosphere. I was there with my adult children and young grandchildren. I am coeliac, and as like every Costa I have been in, I was catered for.

Not up to Costa standard. Hot chocolate was tasteless, no offer to add marshmallow and whipped cream when I can hear them offering it to drive through customers.

This Costa is the finest commercial establishment within a 3 mile radius. I can assure you this is not an exaggeration! If you can avoid Dudley town centre, do so, for your own safety. But if by some cruel twist of fate you find your sorry soul wandering through this wasteland, then make a beeline for Costa! The staff will help you call the police should you find yourself being followed around town by balaclava wearing bottom feeders looking to rob you for your phone. Not all heros wear capes!

Busy Costa. Can sit in. On the walk past the Metro extension, castle and zoo and Black Country Living Museum.

The millionaire short bread was amazing and the caramel frappe was incredible

Excellent venue & service. The service from the guy Jordan was above and beyond. This guy was down to earth, fast, listened to instructions. I felt like I had knew him for ages and nothing was too much trouble. BIG UP TO JORDAN!!!!

The last few visits were not great, from slow and rude service, to uncleaned tables this is fast becoming my least favourite costa. Drive thru is always good but the service is always slow and grumpy service.

Worst Costa. Can't even make a cappuccino had to take my drink back just for them to do me another nasty one. They also need to learn to clean properly 🤦‍♀️

One of my favourite coffee spots. The staff here are lovely, the toilet facilities are accessible and clean and if you attend later on in the day it is lovely and quiet.

I like to go here for some quite time i love the coffee it is better than Starbucks one. The cakes and pastries are quite over priced but I still buy them specially the almond slices. I love it. Staffs very friendly. Sometimes it is busy on the drive through so you end up wait for someone to serve you.

Tables covered in trays that nobody was cleaning staff walking around banging and swearing. Staff in general were just rude drinks were lukewarm and there was staff just stood talking.

Honestly one of the worst Costas in the area. Every time we visit we say never again, but this time was the worst. For the last six months or so, whenever you go in you have no idea if any of the staff are actually serving the shop or drive through and half the time they change between taking your order. This visit, they are supposed to open at 09:00 on a Sunday. On arriving, they had put a bit of paper over the 09:00 on the door and changed it to 09:30 - so i had to go through the drive through, this was about 09:10. I ordered my coffee, then an almond croissant. “We don’t have any almond croissants”. So I ordered a plain one instead. “We don’t have of those either”. So I asked what pastries they did have - to be told none at the moment “they hadn’t gone in the oven”… after asking what other baked items they had, I ordered a lemon muffin that 10 second earlier he’d listed off, to be told they didn’t have those either. At this point, I gave up.

The drinks and service were great, and the premises were clean and tidy. The only problem was it was very, very cold 🥶. I think they had air conditioning on when they could have done with having the heating on.

Popped in on a Sunday afternoon, there were dirty tables around. The attitude of staff wasn't great and the drinks were not very warm. They said they had no long spoons, so we were unable to stir in the syrup that we paid extra for. Cakes were served on saucers. Very poor Costa Castle Gate.

Didn't eat, set up a bit weird, cannot see the menu properly due to a big fridge blocking view while you wait in queue, then when you turned round from ordering, people are standing really close, due to a barrier, while waiting for their orders....cramped and tables not cleaned down

Always chirpy and cheerful, never takes too long, always tastes amazing even though sometimes a mocha can be slightly stronger than other times but that’s the good thing of having it made by an actual person! Love it

Drinks from Costa are always delicious and more affordable than a lot of other places. Their roast of coffee is nice and well balanced, they have a lot of variety in drinks, ranging from coffee, to hot chocolate, tea, bubble tea and coffee, frappes and iced drinks. They also serve a large amount of food, having partnered with M&S to make their range even better. Travel cups and other assorted products are also available to buy, if you want to get a gift for someone. They have a membership scheme too, which gets you a free drink, as well as occasional discounts and rewards on the app.

Friendly service and excellent coffee

Quick friendly service to day, unfortunately, no Danish available, so I had to settle for a lemon muffin. It was very quiet during my visit so no real atmosphere, very quite could do with some background music.

Was great when it first opened, now its just a disaster... Orders wrong, drive thru closed, then the stores closed due to no staff... Can't understand whats happened most of the staff who've been there for years have quit or transfered and new ones don't stay or know what there doing 🤔 No staff again, store totally closed 29.10.2022 today including drivethru!!! 😑 UPDATE 26.06.23 Store slightly better but still long waits in drivethru and I was the only car in it!!!

Very busy and very slow service. Staff did not acknowledge that you were waiting and they would be with you soon. Poor basic service skills.

Average quality, over priced food and coffee chain, with friendly servers.

Great service food tasty but always have problems where to sit even when it's quiet, tables don't get cleaned over customers plates, cups etc..... cluttering tables people having to move other people's things off tables just to sit down always the same even when plenty of staff on duty still no one comes out to clean tables. Not good at all. Oh and toilets are a disgrace never look like they've been cleaned and never any toilet paper.

Went in to have a drink and some food, struggled to find anywhere to sit due tables being a mess and not tidied up. There was no queues either so I don’t understand how not even one person can go and clean the tables down. I had to move things off a table so I could sit down which should not be down to the customers to make space for themselves. One staff came out and tidied one table and then went back behind the till where there was no customers to serve.

This is my go to Costa for both drive thru and eat in, the staff are always fab and the vibe inside is always pleasant. It can get busy at times but the staff clear up tables fast so you can get a seat. Wanted to do a special recognition today for Jordan who served me and Leah who prepared our drinks. They were both lovely and made our visit so much better. Thank you!

Something seriously wrong with the way it’s run when you’re waiting 20 minutes on drive thru and there’s only you and one other car in there.

The coffee is ok but the drive thru is the slowest experience ever. Staff seem incompetent for it. It used to be decent but oh my life it's beyond slow now. It's annoying it's my local coffee shop. 10 mins at a drive thru and still not taking the order is below satisfactory. I hate moaning but this isn't a one off experience, it's constant now.

The cappuccino I had from Costa castlegate was the best cappuccino I've had in a long time , the young lad that made the drink was polite and was very friendly. I've been to a lot of coffee places and this has been the best coffee and best atmosphere by far .

Says its open until 9pm but the door was locked, a member of staff looked at us multiple times before coming over and saying they weren't open. I showed them Google says 9 and they said we'll the drive through is but not inside. Very clearly didn't want to do any work in the evening. Is a shame as it doesn't reflect well on the company

Says its open online at 6am was waiting outside in the rain for 15 min with the person looking at me from the counter then she turned away and carry on doing what she was doing total wast of time i will go starbucks next time

Says on website opens at 6am, waited outside the door for 10 mins, the lady was stacking the shelves right in front of me, I tapped on the window twice but was clearly ignored. If you've changed your opening times please do let people know, it would have been nice to be acknowledged and informed of this.

I usually do a lot of meet ups with clients here, nice relaxed atmosphere and decent coffee, however last time it was shut entirely and a time before that they started to close sections of the shop down a couple of hours before closing so they can clean and tidy area by area.. this made it very restrictive on where to sit. for this reason I have had 2 meetings in the hungry horse next door but we shouldnt have to do this. Quite a few 1* ratings recently, not sure if they are granted but maybe things do need to pick up a little?

For the last 2 sundays costa castlegate has been shut for the restaurant, I don't really know how they are taking trade to be honest. We went into dudley high street one. Is this going to happen every Sunday,?

I thought I'd give Costa Castle Gate Dudley another chance following previous experience. But find it to only be worse ordered 2 Large ginger bread latte to drink in. Served cold no cream no ginger bread in take away cup with no explanation why. I returned drinks to the counter to be confronted by a moody member of staff 'Darcy' who was very unhappy that I returned the drinks. I said they we're cold she made replacements I noticed she put her fingers in the cup's and told her to replace them. She was not happy at all.

Great coffee and food, usual Costa experience and friendly staff, Only thing letting the visit down was the appearance of the toilets, while not dirty, they looked badly maintained with glue round the push button and things looking well worn.

Food and drink as expected which is good and why the experience has any stars. Rude and disrespectful gentleman serving us today, made us feel like we wasn’t welcome. Too busy gossiping and laughing with colleagues on his headset, stroppy when serving.

I wish no bad on any business, however this Costa states on both online and app platform there open from 6AM. Based from this ordering via the app is not a problem, only for me to arrive at 6:15 to collect the order iv paid for and watching the lady arrive 10 minutes later than me, waited 5 minutes as she’s opened late, go to door “sorry I’m closed”. False advertisement, 2nd occasion this has happened, of course I’ll receive a refund I hope from customer service but shocking from this costa.

Drinks not good, cutlery sorry. Staff seem friendly and it's a good place to sit and talk or to work/study.

Frequent customer to this store. Opening times state 6am. It is NEVER open at 6am. You complain to customer service who say it’s because of staffing. Change your opening times then instead of making people waste their time coming here for it to be closed!

11.09.2022 Ordered two cappuccino today, was waiting 30 minutes to get my coffee cold to can it drink! This stuff its nor ready for preparing a good coffee, its was so hot that I couldn’t drinking! Please get your stuff more experience and teach them to do a good coffee for customers

You can serve the best coffee in the world, but if your staff can't be bothered to clean dirty tables while they're standing behind the counter doing nothing, then the coffee is irrelevant, the place is a tip. Over 30 minutes and no one has taken the dirty trays away.

The staff were helpful and friendly, but because they were short staffed they closed early. I'm afraid though that Costa coffee is not good quality, my Americano is weak and watery in their cups and awkward off-centre saucers.

Staff had this ‘leave us alone’ attitude.tried ordering a few things and they were out of stock (which I understand), so I asked what’s available and lady goes what do you want. Told her what I want and she says it’s unavailable. I’m thinking in my head you just asked me what I want and I’m telling you what I like, why ask me if you can’t tell me the substitutes? I understand it’s not on stock but WHAT IS IN STOCK? Then asked her twice to tell me what you have to sell today and attitude through out the service was just a joke. Please be prepared to let people know substitutes if you don’t have much in the shop.

Very slow to get served inside. Then forgot to give us part of our food order. Plus didn't have 2 items wanted.

Ordered an near £30 order via Uber Eats for it to arrive with not a single one of the items ordered and someone else's meal deal. Phone number to call the store did not (from Google) and currently awaiting a 'review' from Just Eat. Pretty poor.

Good but needs more soft seating.

Worst experience, we go 3-4 times a week. Last time we went we waiting 5 minutes in the queue for a lady to say we can serve you we are too busy. The people that were in front of us that walked in same time got served as we didn’t. Head office offered us a free drink which was an insult would expect a company like that to offer something properly for wasting 30 minute lunch break on not getting served and spoken to rudely

I used to frequent this Costa fairly regularly before lockdown for get togethers and everything was top notch, speedy service, clean toilets and clear tables but since lockdown eased things have slid downhill considerably. Everytime I visit tables are littered with dirty cups and mugs, on a couple of visits only paper cups were available, in fact a dirty paper cup had been hiding in a display stand for a few months going completely unnoticed by staff. Toilets are dirty or shut down for maintenance. I understand stand staff shortages and costs etc but this volume of errors consistently is somewhat offputting considering the astronomical prices of the coffee, and that a bank loan is required for a slice of cake. I'm reaching for that jar if Nescafe from now on.

Visited today with my daughter and my mom. Had to tell the Barista how to make an Americano the brand standard way, service was slow and un friendly. Non of the staff seem to care about the job! No spoons available to stir my coffee was given a desert spoon, shop was a mess. If staff are not able to their job adequately they should be trained appropriately to do it with effectiveness and efficiency. This isn't the first time I've visited this store and its gone massively down hill since the previous store manager was forced out!
