Lovely experience, staff very friendly. Jack was looking after us. He explained all the specials and was very helpful. The food was very good, We had the soup, sea bass, scampi and pie of the day. Very good value , piping hot and all delicious! Ambience good , all facilities clean and tidy. Plenty of car parking spaces.

Small wedding reception here in the stables, 18 of us (12th October 2024). From the discussions beforehand with Louise, to the day itself, everything was very well handled. The food was well presented, and superb. The staff were all very friendly and very helpful. We were really happy with the choice of venue, 10/10 :-)

I have never been to this place for a meal, portions were generous. The chips are amazing and I'm not really a.cheap person and absolute value for money. Also these.guys happened to Ben outside when we visited and were a talking point for all customers Would recommend and would return again

The White Horse looks great after its refurbishment. The service was superb and the food was incredible. My husband had the roast beef and said it’s the best roast he’s eaten out. Everything was of great quality and such a lovely ambience.

I note that the last reviews were 2013. I stopped dining here few years back as the food and service was really poor. Shame as I liked to sit outside n the garden. A friend suggested have lunch there as she had been there recently a few times. I have to say how much this had improved from my last visit. Lovely friendly staff who could not do enough for us. Sorry I forgot all your names but you made us very welcome and were all friendly and could see that they were all enjoying what they did even though it was very busy and they were also setting up for a wedding. Much smaller menu than my last visit - think before was probably catering food stuck in a microwave. Great selection on menu and reasonable prices. Decided to have 2 starters rather than a main course. Decent portions and glad did not order portion of chips to go with the. Salt & Pepper squid was really nice and the crispy duck salad recommended by my friend was lovely. My friend had a southern fried chicken wrap and said it was lovely. The food was very nice and could see that other dishes being served to other customers also looked very good. Would go back and would say to former customers it is worth going back. It has greatly improved , it was busy, food was good and was nice to sit in the garden on a sunny day. Thank you staff for making us feel welcome and good to see that the White Horse is back on form. Also enjoyed seeing the owls that were being shown in the garden. All in all a very enjoyable lunch and will visit again.

We recently hired The Barn at The White Horse for a Ruby Anniversary celebration for 60 people and it was an absolutely lovely location and venue and amazing value for money. The food was delicious - lots of guests commented on it- and the service on the day and planning the event was absolutely excellent. I can’t rate it highly enough as a brilliant place for a daytime “do” with family and friends of all ages. There was a good choice of dishes and nothing was too much trouble for people with allergies or intolerances. A loudspeaker was supplied for the speeches and acoustic band and for those guests remaining into the evening we were offered a private part of the conservatory. We would thoroughly recommend it!

I came here today for lunch with an old school friend, we both had a really lovely meal and the staff were efficient. We plan to go back very soon, highly recommended

From the planning of my son and daughter in laws wedding a year ago right up till the wedding on 9th August 2024 Louise has been outstanding.the decor the food choices the staff and the beautiful barn made it such a magical day.i needed help with a button hole which I forgot to bring and Louise helped me straight away and made me another one perfectly.everyone had a beautiful day and I would like to thank Louise and all the staff and the amazing set up at the stables at the white horse in southill.i would highly recommend you to everyone.you made my son and daughter in laws wedding day perfect 💗

Been here before we had great service so went back today unfortunately we were served by a young waiter that looked like death warmed up! Awful service and put me off eating if I’m honest, rude and acted like we were not welcome, very bad service if it wasn’t for the usual lovely waitress I wouldn’t go back! Food was okish and reasonably priced. Staff training is a definite must! Very disappointing…

Nice traditional pub for Sunday lunch My partner booked this for a birthday treat for 3 people. The meal was generally ok but the sirloin roast of beef which two of us ate was terrible, chewy, stringy and 50% fat We highlighted at the end of the meal and were given £7 off the bill. Tbh given two meals were largely untouched I’d have expected more of a gesture. Timothy Taylor on draft was nice and the service was friendly. Maybe need a new supplier for the meat though!!

Popped in for an early supper. Staff were very welcoming. We chose a selection of starters, and were so happy!! So much food!! The nachos are amazing!!

We class this as our local as it’s usually very good but today was our 2nd poor quality, poor potion size and poor value for money on our food. Had the cheese burger gluten free the burger was over cooked, the bun was hard I had to use a knife n folk to eat it the chips looked like some of the scraps from the bottom of the chip basket, and small portions. My husband had the White Horse burger his burger was over cooked and dry.

Have just had lunch here on Easter Sunday with my family. We had a table booked under the name of Helen at 1:00. From the moment we walked in, we were met with exceptional service. The staff were welcoming and attentive. Nothing was rushed, and check backs were made. Starters came out in reasonable time, as did the mains and desserts. There was a lot of laughs between ourselves and the waitresses. I would like to mention HOLLY who was very professional in the service she gave, and mentioning to her that I work in hospitality. I also told her, that I would employ her immediately if she were to come to the Lake District where I work. She is an asset to your business. I don't see my family that often nowadays, but will certainly return next time I am in the area Iain.

Really enjoyed the food and quality of the food. However the service really let this place down. Took over an hour for food to come and half an hour to be served. Staff chucked menus in a pile on table and took ages to clear plates, despite restaurant being quiet. They seemed more interested in talking to each other or going on their phones than the service. It’s a shame as the food was very good but it’s put us off returning.

Visited today for an unplanned lunch. The welcome was pleasant enough, with the young man showing us to a table promptly and taking a drinks order. Table had not been cleaned and was not set for dining. Service was fast. The starters - mushrooms and squid - were both tasteless. Even the accompanying salad had no taste, which is pretty hard to get wrong. Ingredients appeared cheap and long stored. The mains. Sausage and mash was of the sort one would expect in a cheap canteen. The lamb roast was entirely inedible, tasting like a TV dinner. Utterly awful food. Service throughout was muddled, with dishes arriving without cutlery and staff seeming confused when setting the table. This was the first time we had visited here for lunch and won’t return. The place was busy, but goodness knows why. The pub appears to be run entirely by young staff, with no owner / manager present. Very disappointing. The pub is in a fantastic location, but totally let down by cheap, tasteless food.

Had an amazing evening with my family for my mum's birthday meal. Food was amazing and the steaks were cooked to perfection.

Amazing food, much better than any pub food that I’ve had in a long while. Bistro pub food at its best. Staff were very friendly and accommodating for my food allergy. Emily was friendly and courteous, and couldn’t do any more for me. If you’re in the area, I’d recommend that you pop in.

Lovely meal for my Mum’s 92nd birthday. There were 15 of us, the service was perfect, lovely friendly helpful staff. Food very good and atmosphere relaxed. Thank you would certainly visit again and highly recommend.

After almost a 12 month absence, we returned today to The White Horse with fairly low expectations. We were however pleasantly surprised. The service was excellent, the quality of the food very good and the staff chatty and friendly, Our meals arrived quickly, well cooked and hot, portions were plentiful. We enjoyed chatting to Tom the supervisor and his colleague, who delivered efficient service with a smile: they are a credit to the business. We will definitely be returning in the future if these standard are maintained .

Visited 28/12. Went for a family dinner as it used to be a nice pub. Pub was very quiet, only 4/5 other tables, yet the service was incredibly slow. It took an hour for starters to come out, followed by another hours wait for mains. When the mains arrived the Cajun chicken was so overcooked it was inedible. Rock hard chicken. Burnt chips too. The wait would have been fine if the food was actually nice. Impossible to get drinks, the 2 employees ignored tables, instead choosing to stand behind the bar and talk. We were seated close to the bar and could hear one (blonde boy - appeared to be in charge) talking about customers at different tables in a disrespectful manner. Same person tutted and rolled his eyes at us when we tried to get his attention for drinks/service. Does not give the pub a good look or atmosphere when the staff behave in this way. Very disappointed as it used to be a nice pub to visit.

Great pub food, with lots of choices on the menu. Generous portion sizes too and attractively presented. Would highly recommend and look forward to going back to sample some different items on the menu. Would recommend the breaded brie starter, pie and chicken burger options. Sea bass and scampi also went down well. The cheesecake made for a great finish to the meal.

I have been coming to this pub for many years and never experienced a poor meal. However 28/12/2023 evening meal changed all that. Booking on line was challenging, missing was the listed breaded brie in the fixed menu. Took a phone call to resolve and IT were blamed. Editing changes was impossible and again a phone call to resolve and IT were to blame. Failed to answer email. 6 of us attended, 5 of us knew the pub and the good food. Steak were well done when asked for medium rare. Prawn cocktail actually lacked the prawns, roast potatoes were dry, burnt and suspected of being re-heated. Cheese was dry and leathery, chips fried to crispy sticks of nothing (likely re-heated) salad limp as left under a heat lamp. 40 to 50 minutes between serving as only two members of staff (very polite) to run the bar and serve the food. 32 customers in the pub at our sitting.

We've visited this lovely venue in the Beds countryside several times in the summer but never dined. Having booked a table on the evening of Wednesday 1st November, we were given a warm, friendly welcome by Tom, who was front of house. Despite having several other covers to attend to, he found time to provide us with details of the different courses on offer from a varied menu. My wife chose the hummus starter and seafood linguine. I selected the duck starter and, having been advised by Tom that the linguine can at times be spicy, I opted for the chicken and leek pie. Our starters were hot and delicious, but nothing prepared us for the main course. Again, the food was very well cooked, presented well and hot. Initially, the large individual pie appeared heavy in the pastry department. However, cutting into it, the pastry was light, perfectly cooked and the filling crammed predominately with chicken. My wife's seafood linguine had plenty of seafood and was temperature hot with just the right amount of spice. When we enquired, the majority of their products are sourced locally, and staff have a say in the menu and trialling / tasting of new dishes. Another Tom, who was responsible for creating, cooking, and preparing our food was personally thanked. I can say in all honesty the chicken and leak pie I was presented with that night was the best I've ever tasted. A very well done to both Tom's who made our evening a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Thank you again. Due to the popularity of this venue, especially at weekends, pre booking via their easy to use online booking system is advisable. Enjoy, you won't be disappointed.

Great spot for lunch. The pub has a good constant trade, so lunch felt like the pub was busy and had atmosphere. The staff were great and very helpful. The food was delicious . I have been many times and will return.

We ate a pleasant meal at Saturday lunchtime in the quiet Bedfordshire countryside. Copious portions and extensive menu. A large helping of flavoursome chilli con carne, another of green Thai chicken curry. Welcoming staff and reasonable prices.

Fue un poco en cuanto a este punto que otras personas en el bar ya estaban pidiendo una restitución como sus comidas no había llegado. 15 minutos más tarde y aún así, no había señal de nuestra comida, así que me preguntó otra vez y se preguntó qué mi pedido por un miembro del personal que dijo que para mí, diciendo que él nos dejó una bebida gratis por las molestias. Dingy atmosphere, indifferent service (kept answering 'phone instead of serving the very few customers present), very poor 'real ale' (only one on tap), expensive mediocre food for our evening meal. We only stayed as we were hungry and kept hoping for something to improve - but wish we had walked out immediately.

Usaban ir aquí mucho cuando los niños eran jóvenes ya que se podía confiar en el lugar, pero este año fui dos veces con mi club de ciclismo en un martes noche para un puesto en cervezas. Tardaron años sirve la cerveza Guinness no es frío y por lo tanto toma 10 minutos de pour y por unos 12 de nosotros se tarda unos 20 minutos.

Fuimos al White Horse Southill por nuestro aniversario de boda. Hicimos una reserva online, pero en el momento de la llegada no sabían nada sobre él. Lucky el pub estaba vacío.

No había estado en este pub desde los días de la estación de ferrocarril en el jardín. Intentó durante un viaje en auto de la tarde en el campo de Bedfordshire. Unas cuantas personas sentarse fuera en el patio, de lo contrario desierto. Más personal dentro de los clientes. Pedimos una pinta y media maldito Bar de agudo y quedé asombrado al cobrará £6 - es decir 4 libras por una pinta!!! Cuando los enfrentaron, el gerente dijo que no fijar los precios pero meramente tomó el dinero. Qué Absolute timo; seguro incluso más caro que los precios London pub. Sin duda volveremos nunca o alentar a amigos a ir allí.

Nos son locales y este siempre ha sido uno de nuestros lugares favoritos de verano almuerzo ya que está en un entorno agradable.

Visitamos anoche y no vamos a volver de nuevo. la sensación completamente timen. Llegamos con hambre el fuego fue muerto en la parrilla y el ambiente hospitalario. Nos sentamos en una mesa que estaba sucio aunque la camarera venga y limpio. Esto era temprano a eso de las seis pero tengo que admitir que estaba congelada en allí y la mitad de las bombillas habían ido y no han sido reemplazados. Cuando llegó la comida y la camarera le puedo hacer todo lo demás tuve la tentación de decir 'el resto de mi comida sería agradable ' en más de un 10 libras para gambas y patatas fritas que cabe esperar más de ocho bits de cigalas unas duras y frías patatas fritas y una ensalada que mucho es el mejor! ¿cuánto pimiento rojo sentarse alrededor antes de que comience a arrugas. La carne y patatas fritas en 16 libras era pobre ... mismo difícil patatas fritas unos guisantes y algunos patética pequeñas setas. Nadie me preguntó si todo estaba bien hasta los platos estaban despejadas. Cuando ella no pide que plantearon mi opinión y me dijeron que me lo pase a la chef ... bien si el chef puede suministrar alimentos como que sin ninguna pasión que entonces dudo que nuestros comentarios se molestan him/her ... no ofrecen de descuento. No vamos a volver.

Visitamos hoy aquí para mi cumpleaños de las hermanas. La comida era excelente, el servicio excelente, el personal le cantaron feliz cumpleaños, ya que trajo nuestros postres y encontramos algunas velas así!

I took my son there for a bite to eat, as soon as we came in we had a warm welcome by the friendly staff, food was delicious, a lovely place all round I will most certainly come again. I highly recommend.

A couple of family birthdays were celebrated recently at the White horse, a family party of 9 in total. The staff were attentive but not intrusive, amd Matt the manager/proprietor like wise.The food was very good, ample portions and cooked well. The children were particularly well looked after, with lollies and sweets at the end of the meal. We will certainly be going back again. The V.I.P club is swell worth joining, when loyalty points can be built up.
