The best African restaurant I’ve been in a long time. The seafood okro is amazing

RAW UNCOOKED CHICKEN🤢 I wouldn't return to this restaurant again, service was poor. There was not enough cutlery on the table only X2 sets for our party of 4 people. We asked X3 times for cutlery! Was waiting over an hour for the food to come out and food all came out at different times, so some had finished their food before others had even got there's. To top it off, after waiting 1 hour 15 minutes for my food to come out they gave me uncooked bloody chicken (picture attached). Which I didn't eat and told them to take it away, they had the cheek to try and charge me for a meal I didn't eat. Not on my watch!!! The music was also so loud you couldn't have a conversation with others. I was literally SHOUTING and I still couldn't be heard!! Overall very disappointing experience and I will NOT be going back again.

I was looking forward to coming here as it was recommended to me. The music was so loud you had to shout in the persons ear so they could hear you. The food (in my opinion) was well below average and some what stingy with meat options for what you pay. I wouldn't go there again by choice... even had to get a refund because the chicken we ordered was raw and bloody in the middle.

A great place to experience typical Nigerian food and drink

My family of 5 went to Whitehart on Mother's Day and sadly we won't be going back. We arrived at 7.10pm had to stand around for 10mins while a table was cleared for us. It was painful to watch the only waitress on duty clear away items without a tray... it took 3 trips and at one point she was on the floor trying to pick up items that had been dropped in the process. In the end the table wasn't cleaned properly and there were no glasses or cutlery replacements. The service was slow... 40mins for our drinks and starter to arrive and only after we reminded them. Drinks came without glasses and my husband had to make 2 trips to the bar to ask for them along with some ice as the soft drink was not cold. The starter platter which cost £15 came with poor quality food especially one blacken puff puff that was inedible. 3 pawns, 3 puff puff, 3 spring rolls and 1 chicken thigh for £15 and they could not even make sure it was all edible?! There was no water provided... you could however buy a bottle for £2.50. 🙄 We had been waiting for an hour when they came to tell us they were out of Jollof rice!!! How do you run out of your most popular item at 8.30pm? My husband went to the gents and came back unhappy with the cleanliness, so everyone went easy on drinks so they would not have to use the facilities.! They served a main for one member of our group while the rest of us waited for another 40 mins, in frustration we decided to cancel our food order in favour of going home to eat KFC, I went to the bar to ask to pay for what we had received at which point they said our order was ready. This was now 9.10pm. We waited another 10mins for cutlery. My daughter was served food in a bowl with the inner coloured layer peeling off into her meal, and the meat was so tough she gave up trying to eat it altogether. Jollof rice was replaced with fried rice, which was more like boiled rice mixed with vegetables. My husband ordered Amala but got pounded yam! But at this point t we decided that sending it back would be too risky. At the end of our meal we asked to speak to the manager but was told she was busy as she was also the cook! We sent word to her regarding our experience and we were given £2 off our bill. 😂 It wasn't about the money but I guess that went over his/her head. It's so sad that this restaurant has not maintained its standards. This is my 4th or 5th visit and it has been my choice for authentic African food for the past 2 years. The variety of African stews is fantastic but this on its own is not enough!

If you would like to wait 2 hours for food, come to this place. Worst restaurant experience I’ve had in the UK. To add insult to injury, it was even on Mother’s Day. Will not be returning.

This place surprised me. Definitely one the nicest African restaurants I've eaten in. Not your average pub restaurant. The food was delicious. I loved the lamb suya, the egusi was good and the gizard and plantain was lovely, with a lot of sauce and plantain. I think there were also foods that I don't normally see in Nigerian restaurants. There appeared to be a good choice of drinks, including cocktails. The service was good; I can't complain, and the ambience was nice, with nice lighting and great music, played by a DJ. The chairs were comfortable, and it wasn't too busy (but busy enough) for a Friday night. I really liked the overall vibe and would definitely return.

I bought fish today for £45, but when I opened the pack, I was shocked by what I found. I called to complain, asking why I received fish in such poor condition. The guy at the counter passed the phone to the person who packed it, and she claimed that the fish broke while she was putting it in the box, so she included the broken pieces. I told her there were missing parts of the fish and that I couldn’t accept it. Their response? Since I had already paid, there was nothing they could do. I reminded them that this wasn’t the first time they had done this to me, but they didn’t seem to care. I can’t believe I had to throw the fish away—it looked like something that had already been eaten.

This was, without doubt, the most disappointing dining experience I’ve ever had. Waiting two hours for cold, poorly prepared food was bad enough, but the unresponsive manager and indifferent staff only made matters worse. The stew, little more than oil and scraps of meat, was completely unacceptable. Attempting to get a refund was yet another ordeal—waiting 40 minutes for what should have been an immediate resolution. The manager claimed they couldn’t issue a full refund on the spot and could only arrange a bank transfer later in the week, citing that they weren’t the owner of the restaurant. The sheer lack of competence, organisation, and basic respect for customers was shocking. I wouldn’t return to this restaurant under any circumstances and strongly advise others to avoid it.

Went there yesterday evening with a group of my friend for graduation dinner. Ordered our food at 8 pm one of my friends received her food which she didn't like and the rest of us waited for more then 3 hours still didn't get our food left without eating anything. This place is only good for music, 0 customer service. I will advise anyone who want to go there please make sure you eat at home very well before going there.

1000000/10!! I came here randomly and had such a good time - food and vibe was immaculate; the DJ & guy playing the talking drum were great too. I’ll definitely be back, fantastic local spot :)

Waited over 2 hours for our meal and it came in so far apart half of the table finished eating and the other half still Waited for nearly an hour to get their meal. Honestly it defeated the purpose of eating together.

I came with a group of friends and placed my order (grilled fish). I waited for almost 2 hours after, my order did not arrive, I opted to have it as take away and I must have waited another 30mins and eventually left with my food. My friends and other people that were in the same situation left without their orders. The service was extremely poor, no one to take full responsibility .no manager on duty, staff were all over the place, even the food that was served was nothing worth driving to the restaurant to eat. That was my 2nd time in that restaurant and I will never step into that restaurant again . I am very disappointed. Akin Akinola

Came with some friends and waited for fish take away for well over two hours. One of my friend left without eating as he had waited for so long. I used to like this place but will never come back here again. All the tables were not cleared and am extremely disappointed in their service.

Got there for like 6:30, ordered, our orders didn't come at all, short of staff, they said, very poor service, not effective and efficient enough

I visited this place on a Friday evening. The music was so loud , you could literally feel your body vibrate. You could barely have a conversation. The food was terrible. ordered Amala and efo riro. The efo riro was stale. The fish tasted like it has been stored in the freezer for a very long time and quickly defrosted. The portions were ridiculously small. The service is also very slow . It shouldn't take 2 hours to get your food . I won't be back here again . Keep your money people..not worth the trip here

23th of October, whaduu(i hope I get the real spelling, dark, tall a bit) is the name of my waiter, he deserve a medal, he's exceptionally good, good customer service, polite and made us comfortable, we love to see his face more in whiteheart as we keep coming . You shouldn't have to beg for attention from waiters. Your food shouldn't take two hours to arrive. You shouldn't have to keep walking up to the main counter to check up on your order. You shouldn't have to shout just to have a basic conversation with your friends because the DJ is playing music like he is partially deaf and he is determined to make everyone else so. You shouldn't come back home after an outing and feel like you shouldn't have bothered to go out and spend your money on a poor experience. This is Whiteheart Restaurant Erith on a Friday Night. This is a business that doesn't take itself too seriously. A joke by another name whose systems have failed or are non existent. This is a business that is propped up by a loyal clientele of Nigerians who, desperate for a place to have community, fellowship and a taste of home, are willing to contribute to mediocrity. I've visited this restaurant on three occasions - a weekday, Friday and Saturday. Each time, my experience has been worse than the previous one. I will not be going there again.

The service is terrible and the manager is extremely rude. I’m not the type to leave a bad review for a business cos I own a restaurant myself and I know the effort being put in but the customer service here is horrible. The portion of the food was really small, I complained and the manager almost made me feel stupid. I’ve heard London’s customer service is bad but this is beyond me

The restaurant is a nice venue and you can see the owner is trying their best.

Came on a Sunday. There was a party in the basement with what appeared to be over 50 guests and loads of customers. It is appalling and extremely unfair on both the customers and the staff that there were only 2 waiters attending to the crowd. Food came 2 hours delayed. Only person was served and the other guest waited another hour. Eventually had to cancel the order as there was no point Customer service is shambolic!!! The 2 waiters were doing their best The management should have ensured there was more staff since they had a party booked.

Although the food took a while to be served, when it arrived it was presentable and delicious. Generally a bit pricey, perhaps, price margin seems to align with that of Enish Nigerian Restaurant 🍴.

I get the Abula every time I go, it’s always great. They could put more red stew in to balance out the Gbegiri. The food is very good here the only downside is the drinks service is slow and cleanliness of the toilets.

I think i would have to visit this restaurant again during the daytime just so I can see what it's like and have a different view. In the meantime, though, I visited here night time and it was quite packed with people. The DJ was ok. The staff I must say seemed to be in a planet of their own. I was disappointed that they didn't have almost all the cocktails I selected on the menu.

Dodgy online booking system! I booked a table for four people using their online booking system on their website(photo attached). I was asked to pay a deposit of £30, which I did. When we attended the restaurant and ate our meal, I told them £30 had to be subtracted from the bill. To verify this, I also showed the waitress the confirmation email I received after paying the deposit(photo attached). The waitress was unsure so she called the manager (who wasn’t at the restaurant). The manager then requested I send her a snapshot to show this amount was debited from my bank(photo attached). After she checked this, the manager then informed the waitress that she didn’t receive the payment. She stated that her business partner first takes their share of the profits before she receives her portion. She didn’t receive a deposit of £30 in her account. The manager then asked me to pass my contact details to the waitress. I was told I would be informed when my refund was ready. Up to now I haven’t been contacted or received my £30 back. The deposit was paid on January 3rd and we attended the restaurant on February 4th. This is unprofessional and unacceptable. Other people could make the mistake of booking a table online, paying a deposit and not getting the deposit subtracted from their bill, meaning they have lost their money. To avoid losing customers, you should remove the booking link from your website.

We visited the restaurant recently and I ordered 2 portions of Suya, which was a complete waste of money, as they come very expensive. The meat was extreamly burnt and after few bites, I had to abandon it. We also had fish which was ordered by the host, I did not feel any wow factor about it. I think it's best to change your chefs, because it never used to be like that in the past. Their food has become highly overpriced. We did not enjoy the DJ's way of introducing the music.

We went here for dinner and ordered half jollof rice- half fried rice with assorted meat for £24 and lamb suyafor £18. Both rice is on the cup size separately with 2/3 PIECES of MEAT and another cup of HALF size assorted meat including tripe(very chewy), pork skin and a pig tail without bone(I think). The lamb suya is like a baby portions of lamb with again- few pieces of meat and lots of pieces of BONES as a "meat". The lamb was very chewy. It was very disappointing. I took it home and mix all the "assorted meats" to re-cook and soften them. 😫😩 The quality of food and the value for money isn't right.

Spent almost £200 bit didn't get quality for the money. The starter of puff puff was completely burnt and there was no apology whatsoever to that effect. The nkwobi and asun was ok though it could be better. The jollof rice was ok but the sea food okro was totally terrible. Whooping £40 for sea food okro and it tasted completely stale. The fish was still as cold as ice. No apologies despite complaints and expressions. Was my first time there but I wouldn't recommend at all.

Nice place for an evening out, food& service were brilliant.

Because the Abula and the fried rice were done so well, it's a 5 star for me. But I thought service could be faster. We were told we could not place orders with the waiter but could only order via their online menu. Mind you, there is no free WiFi in store. If I had not come in with family who had data, I don't know if I would have got service. I am a tourist so had no mobile data then. I couldn't stop wondering why they decided to go for that colour of velvet chairs though.

While the food was delicious, and the waitress helpful,the ordering process was long and laborious. You order via the QR code on the tables and if you needed more food/ drink during the course of the meal, you still have to engage with the code. Thought the items were overpriced.

First order of one cocktail and one small portion of tozo suya taste nice although very expensive at £30.99. Second order I ordered another cocktail with the small chops for £15 where the dish arrived with the missing wings which they substituted with a dry meatless chicken leg without any notice. I did raise the issue with the substitute twice but nothing came of it. I spent £70 in total and as you can imagine left unsatisfied. If you don't have something on your menu inform the customers before requesting payment and ask if the substitution is okay please do not decide for me without any communication.

The place is terrible when it comes to ordering food, the app is not straightforward at all. You waste half the time faffing around with the app. Furthermore the food came it was horrible, I ordered vegetables stew, it was black and cooked a month ago. The staff are rude as well, one will be attending to four table at the same time. This is my third experience in this restaurant, I won't be back. Disappointed. ☹️

As soon as the OWNERV disappears EVERYTHING goes down hill. Fast! September 22nd 2023, 2x jollof orders, 1 Remy shot, 2 soft drinks ordered my jollof rice was fine but the beef was HARD, HARD! Could not even cut through with the knife. The bartender said she changed it herself ( not hygenic) and put another softer piece in the same bowl. Returned with another piece of HARD BEEF and refused to exchange it saying ,vthe Manager is not there. Each time I order MEAT from here , there's an issues with it being under cooked and hard. In the past, the owner was happy to fix any issue. The minute he isn't around, it's hell on earth here. Very disappointing! The owner doesn't need to micro manage for good service to be given. He needs to overturn this staff until excellent service can be provided. Terrible service!

Visited for a work colleagues birthday had the opportunity to try various African dishes food was delicious appetising and well presented spent the time in the VIP Area lower floor decor was fabulous service excellent staff approachable and attentive

Horrendous!!! Who tf makes native rice with Basmati? Tastes more like rice and palm oil with pieces of fish. Let's not even talk about how little it is, not that it made any difference as the taste was terrible for £36??? You people are wicked. Moving to the abula: Goat meat stew had fish bone in it! The stew was definitely a fish stew because it tasted like it. Bottom line? Terrible taste. The amala was not properly wrapped and the cling film melted so the amala was literally open. I've ordered here quite a lot since 2021 and I must say they used to be better but I don't know if their staff were changed this year because this is the sixth time I'm ordering this year and it's been terrible. Usually I call them to complain but it's gotten too much for such expensive food and you sell trash. Can't believe I even paid almost £10 for service fee and delivery. Never again!!!

We met up for a school reunion so it was nice to hang out with old friends. Service was atrocious. The fish orders arrived reasonably quickly which is probably the star attraction. All other meals trickled in ever so slowly and my order was delivered a whopping 3 hours later. Worse still, the food was average or less after the long wait. The atmosphere was ok but no background music to help boost the ambiance until the team was reminded. Truly a 1 star experience for a not so cheap Restaurant

Food: I would have given the food a 5 star because it tasted really good but the portions were too small and they were overpriced. Imagine peppered ponmo for £18 very small portion, all the prices were outrageous. ,£30 for regular grilled fish with 4 piece of yam and plantain. Service: the waiter was friendly. A 4star for her but not for the entire experience. She served as both the receptionist, waiter and cleaning personnel The work load was evidently too much for her. It’s terrible that the management made one person do all of that work and only one Chef was on duty. Wait time: we got a table for 14 people wait time for food was too long. We waited over three hours for simple meals and some of us had to switch to takeaway. Rubbish service, the staffs allocate seats based on faces of who they know. We literally had to beg for everything including cutleries. Their food is very untasty, the cooking area is dirty,one of the staff accidentally left the kitchen open and I was filled with disgust. Never ever going back again, total waste of time and money.

Came in to celebrate my aunt's birthday, no information on how long you can have a table when we booked, only for them to start asking us to leave as soon as some of us just finished eating and ruin her day. The food was all rubbish, there was a fly in the fish we order, the isewu was so watery and had too much sodium in it, and the Asaro was so salty, lose, only for us to cancel some of our guests that were still on their way to the venue due to them coming to ask for their table before we finished eating. It was so embarrassing, we were so disappointed in them. We celebrated her birthday last year at the same venue and had fun hence the reason we came back. We are not happy with the treatment we got from them, going there was a waste of money, will not be going back or recommending there to anyone.

and I eat out alot with or without the kids so sometimes we have to take our leftovers home. We have never been charged for the bowl - until today. This is a recent charge as it wasn't there last year. Finally, the baby changing facilities are non existent. I literally had to sit on the toilet to change my baby. It was unhygienic and very hard to do. What happened to putting a baby changing station in the toilet? All in all, the food is great but the mgt team need to understand that without good service, they will loose customers bit by bit. I used to sing their praises to anyone who would listen but I don't think I will do so anymore neither will I be very quick to return ( that's if I come back).

This place needs to have a food safety inspection. I was very disappointed to have come here to eat last week, paid good money and the area was full of flies. That is not acceptable. Whitehart, please sort this ASAP. It’s very unfair. Although the food was nice just to be fair. But the flies were unacceptable. ****Well clearly your fly catcher is not working as there were several flies not just one **** sort it out simple***

I came here for a post-wedding party. The bride had issues regarding her deposit and seating. The restaurant said that some of the deposit would go towards the bill, it didn’t! There was a funny way of ordering where you had to order online and then pay at the til. My meal took two hours to arrive and it was simple meal of jellof rice and chicken, which others had ordered and it arrived in 20 minutes. The staff were a bit clueless but I could see they were trying their best. The food actually tasted quite good, however given the price, I think a bigger portion of meat would be a reasonable ask. Just disappointed by the money spent and disappointed that the bride was basically robbed on what was supposed to be her special day. This place needs to be checked out by trading standards, as it seems by the other reviews have had issues with the deposit!

Had an absolutely atrocious time at this restaurant immediately after our registry wedding. We paid a £100 deposit for the reservation fee after making enquires and informing the restaurant if they would be able to cater to our group from 12:30. We had already paid the deposit before they came back with awful stories about how good would not be served until 2:30. I was very angry as was my husband, on arrival people were expected to pay for their meals and provide a name to make service smoother and swifter. Meals came out in really unorganised fashion with some guests waiting up to 2 hours for their main meals to arrive. At the end of the meal they informed us that the £100 would not be refunded because we had more than 20 guest (24 to be precise) and they needed to cancel another booking of 20 because we had 4 more or so guests. I was decanted and embarrassed to have my wedding day ruined by this establishment with very nonchalant attitude from the staff. Guests were given non vegetarian meals requiring their whole meals to be made again. Dishes were not cleared. Really poor and diabolical experience received especially considering we were not informed why the deposit was not given back as it was not taken off the meal. Please steer clear of this restaurant especially if you are a big group

Atmosphere is great as in nice and clean too, imagine I ordered grill fish and what they brought was looking like boiled fish even with the smell. When I complained imagine someone indirectly telling you to shut up or else he will walk away from you, for me is lack of customer service. Therefore, Atmosphere 5*, Food 3* and customer service 1*

The surrounding area is cleaned and neat, the atmosphere wasn’t relaxing. The music wasn’t excellent for the day because it’s was prerecorded and it’s was started still about 11:00pm when the shop will be closing at 12:30am - so it’s was boring. The customer service was bad because food and drinks was delay for over 40mins or more; The food wasn't really nice. Because we complained about the serviced, to the owner so he avoided to serve us - the food need to improve in taste, music should be on in time and more staff on the ground.

I had my 45th birthday in this beautiful place a few weeks ago. It was fab! The venue is really beautiful creating a great atmosphere for get together. The ladies were great, thanks to Esther, Janet and others,service was top notch 💓

This restaurant has a very nice ambience and offers the majority of food expected for a Nigerian restaurant. The staff were polite and helpful and food was delicious and came quick. The only downside was the damp smell in the VIP room downstairs. Free parking available at Morrisons for 3 hrs. Street parking also if its a weekend. I will visit again

I came here on Saturday night and ordered starter (small Chop) and their fish. The starter took 1hr and fish took over 2hrs. The lady( Esther)that served us was just walking pass us no acknowledgement. I also asked other servers were our meal was, all we got was its coming. It was a poor customer services. Be ready to wait for over 2hrs for a fish. Even the others that came after us got their fish before us. When Esther eventually brought our fish, there was no apology at all. Note; Friday and Saturday night there is a Dj on site.

Came here for the second time because I wanted my hubby to experience it. This time around, the food was good like last time. The only problem was that the portion was too small. For crying out loud, please serve me a descent and full bowl food and charge me for it. How can you serve Nkwobi in that tiny bowl and expect me to come back for more. I could pay £15 for an adult size of my favourite meal and enjoy it not £7.99 for a tiny bit that doesn't satisfy my hunger. Also, you need to limit birthday parties on your busiest nights like Saturdays, when 40 guests have taken all the tables on Saturday night, there's no seat for a group of 4 or even couples on a date. I hope you read these reviews and make changes. Otherwise, we will go somewhere else next time.

If you are looking for a Nigerian restaurant to relax in, this is it for sure. Nice ambiance, courteous staff and very tasty meals

I had my birthday party here and booked the private room after a friend had recommended this place to me. The room and venue I cannot fault it was absolutely gorgeous and I didn’t need to do much decorations. Some of the food on the set menu was not served on the day and my guests were complaining but the food that we did receive was ok although a little too spicy and we spent over a grand on drinks. My only problem is that they say you need a £50 refundable deposit on top of the £350 you need to hire the private room. Well 4 month later and still we haven’t received our deposit back. We followed their rules and left the venue on time and nothing was damaged. When we called several times they said the manager will call us back, and then the finance team will refund the deposit. Leave your details, leave your account number we will get it sorted…. This went on for 3 months and in the end we’ve just given up. Don’t say it’s a refundable deposit if it’s not. Other businesses don’t behave like this, it’s just a shame this is how our people do business. Definitely won’t be booking again with them or recommending. Highly disappointed.

Only I really don't like the service where you are almost die of hunger before you were served, I mean it took ages to be served and requested an attendant to provide tooth pick but never turn up. Over all, I I enjoyed the meal, pounded yam with bitter leaf soup in a bubbling environment. Bravo.

Lovely space and beautiful. However, the food was not nice and was cold. The service is actually OK and they do cater to your need but the food is not great.

Went to mainly dance but the food was good, great crowd and the DJ was the best. Overall I would go back there sooner than I think.....

I phoned to pre book a table as I was meeting up with a friend from Australia who I haven’t seen in 10 years. Upon arrival, We were shown a table, sat and ordered our food. While in the middle of having the starters , one of the staff came to move us to another seat and seeing other people touching our plates of foods actually made me lose appetite. The main food (Abula) took over 1 hour to arrive, unnecessarily too spicy and me and my friend being Nigerians couldn’t even handle the spice now imagine non-Nigerian eating the food.. the customer service was awful, you ask the waiter for help and they would return like 15-30 minutes later.. I love Afro beats but yo, the music was just too loud for people to have conversations over meal as you can barely hear each other. Overall, it’s a terrible experience..

Really nice food and but EXTREMLY poor service. We have been waiting 2 hours for our dinner to be served even tho place wasn't full. We literally had to ask for every single thing - spoon, glasses etc. Kids enjoyed their jellof rice but when we asked for jug of cold water we received warm one! Seriously?

Food was great but took a long time to arrive. I guess they were short staffed. Also great work on changing the furniture and ambience. i forgot my phone after a meal and the kind waitresses kept my phone for me till i called about it. Many thanks
